It's a lame and pathetic thing on marketing's end.

I do get the intent of this, I just think it was a waste of what marketing could do to promote GR.

    Thank you for the time...
Your time. YOUR. Thank you for YOUR time. I've never heard anybody say "Thank you for the time." Maybe, and I mean MAYBE "Thank you for the time we spent together working on that home made cow chucker" or possibly "Thank you for the time of my life I never knew duct tape could hold that much weight."

But by itself? NO. I've had enough. Take it out. I'll do anything you ask, just make it stop.

Whew, I feel better. That's been bugging me for a while.

I love ElM on my stalker but I'm leery of the single target damage on other ATs. Nice dark/dark/soul guide, it reminds me of why I like my dark/dark scrapper so much.

Claws is out. Stone or Dark... They both have great mitigation, but in different ways. Dark is better for end management. Stone has better burst, dark has better dps I think. Looking at mids and the activation times for stone don't seem as bad as I remember them, actually pretty good...

But you knew what I was talking about, didnchya? And I saved myself like 4 keystrokes!

I've got it narrowed down to DM, SM, or Claws. If DM had some more AoE it'd be an easy choice but... I have played SM a bit and it's pretty beastly... Claws has spin but I dunno if it's really smashy enough for the kind of brute I have in mind.

Leaning more towards SM now, endurance be damned. There needs to be a way to turn UP screen shake instead of just on or off.

  8. Help me make an Invulnerable Brute! I've wanted to use this secondary for a while but can't decide how to smash. SS, both EMs, FM, and DB are all out. I'm leaning towards DM for all its tricks or KM for the shiny newness but I'd like to hear from you bloodthirsty lot before I proceed...
  9. The I12 stalker changes and the introduction of ElecMelee finally got me to play a stalker. Working on an Elec/Regen now in the mid thirties who's tons of fun. Elec on stalkers and brutes never really worked for me, but since stalkers have that awesome single target damage already using an AoE focused set is the way to go. Regen has been pissing me off but that's really my fault. You have to be proactive and hit those heals before your health drops too far or you die in animation.

    1. Make sure you have the equivalent of an SO endredux in each attack.

    2. Take and slot stamina.

    3. Don't run Murky Cloud when the enemies you're fighting aren't doing en/neg/f/c damage.

    4. Slot endredux in Dark Regeneration and like a previous poster said see if you can get a theft of essence proc for it.

DA isn't as bad as it's made out to be but you do have to be more conscious of the blue bar than with, say, regen or willpower.

I haven't played the game in a couple of years and I came back for Going Rogue. It sucks to find out that this still has not only not been addressed but made even worse with the prices of IOs.

Farming is not fun. It's not a substitution for content. It's not some challenge or gauntlet to run to get rewarded for doing. It's mindless grinding and I think the genre is slowly, but surely weeding out tired old mechanics like mindless grinding and timesinks just for the sake of progression.

    Will this ever be addressed?
With the introduction of the markets and IOs it became trivial to fund a character in terms of TOs, DOs, and SOs. Slotting generic IOs is more expensive, but still easy to do without farming... with a starting character. Without bankrolling.

Level progression through the vast majority of this game is trivial without inventions. IOs are purely optional content and market prices are set by people who are choosing to participate and pay those prices. Within that subset of players there are many who still do not need to farm in order to get the inventions they want because playing the market and making ridiculous amounts of inf is not difficult.

If you don't want to play the market, and you don't want to farm(which is only one option, not even the best), and you don't want to find a way to earn merits to buy IOs that way, then you are choosing not to participate in that part of the game. And that's ok because it isn't even remotely necessary.

HOW DARE YOU BE AMUSED or have any sort of 'fun'. Only jaded bitter people are allowed to post from now on. If you find yourself smiling at anything other than someone else's misfortune or stupidity you must delete your forum account.

Why don't YOU. I'm gonna sit right here refreshing the server status page even though it refreshes itself.
  16. The most efficient and successful way to play this game is obviously to get somebody else to PL you. If you aren't doing that then you suck. It really doesn't matter what sets you're playing personally, since none of them will level alone or on regular(gimp) teams as fast as someone being PL'd by an expert... or better yet a group of experts. A team of seven fire/kin controllers (or whatever self sufficient AoE monster flavor you like) IO'd to the gills + whatever character you're leveling up is the only real way to play this game. Otherwise your fun is the wrong fun.

Being able to put out massive AoE damage quickly and survive is the only metric that matters. If you insist on playing single target oriented sets (you must be a roleplayer, otherwise, why?) then the ONLY thing you should be concerned about when picking a powerset is how fast you can take down single targets. Efficiency is the only thing that matters in this game, period.

I am glad of course that everyone doesn't play the right way. It really separates the noobs from the elites. If you don't have someone to look down on then what's the point, really.

102 people is not enough of a sample size to throw that number around like it's a fact. Even if it could be shown that forumites are a good representation of the playerbase, which I doubt, you'd need a larger sampling of players to have any confidence in results.

To the OP: Typically you'll find that the people that try to downplay the number of players that use the /hide feature are also the ones that like to cry "DOOM! The servers are empty!"
I'm not even sure where to go with this one. I always thought you were kind of a reasonable squirrel...

I'm one of the people who would tell you that devices is suboptimal, but that might have nothing to do with whether you like playing it or not. If you like a slower paced game with a little more setup time and the toys that devices brings then you'll be a happy camper.

I was spoiled by one of the first blasters I played and brought to 50. Fast paced, in and out of melee, seat of my pants, ridiculous front loaded damage that takes down bosses faster than any other character I've played. Devices feels too slow and measured to the point that all the /dev blasters I've made seem like a different AT altogether.

I agree. Maybe my view of the help forums are completely pants-on-head crazy but it seems to me to be a place where you go if your game won't load, install correctly, has graphical issues due to hardware/software settings, crashes, suffers from framerate problems... basically roll up your sleeves and pop the hood type stuff. (I feel like I have to point out that the few examples I mentioned are not meant to be an exhaustive list, but an illustrative sampling of possibilities) Mechanical problems with practical solutions.

What I'm looking for here is spiritual guidance. A couch to sit down on while Super Freud writes his little notes or plays his psp while I reveal the inner workings of my subconscious. Some other spot of light in this digital void to come forth and confirm that they have shared my experience, that I am not alone, that wearing your pants on your head is ok because we all love the smell of clean pants, don't we?
