  1. 1) Shooting taser darts or caltrops from an assault rifle makes very little sense
    2) What about my AR/Storm corr? why does a Ar/Dev (just blaster? or blaster+corr?) deserve special custom animations and improved secondary powers and she does not? I want my tornado grenade!
    3) so far the game has been balanced powerset vs powerset rather than powerset combination vs powerset combination. Count the possible powerset combinations and you will see why that is and will remain so

Plus on a side note its been a year since I ran a full char all the way on villains, whats the mission in that huge cavern where there is a formation that looks like the lower mandible of some giant beast?...that impressed me mightily and havnt seen anything close aside from the vastness of the interior of the eden cavern......

It's this one, which I think is a stunning TF overall ad very entertaining. I remember my first run on it; I actually thought the slumbering beastie would awaken and the team would have to fight it... Damn... Still, grand SF.

There is also this story-arc which is set in the same map eventually, and also good fun.

I sympathise somewhat with your hungoverness, I haven't been able to sleep since yesterday morning.

    1. Not "looks like", it IS the Maw of the Leviathan.

    2. The TF His_Hairiness mentioned has the Eye in its last map, not the Maw. And (as I recall) the Eye does awaken.

    3. This map also shows up in Makos patron arc(s).

Oh and one of my favorite mission maps is the one with "isles" of CoT ruins floating in the air that shows up on some high level redside arcs.
  3. I approve.

From a villain side perspective its basically the same as using Ouroboros to get from any zone to any other (except the two lowest level ones, that are rarely needed after lvl 30) except it requires zoning once instead of twice. And it looks cooler.

For fly/jump/speed animations I would suggest: camera stops and stays static while character jumps/flies/speeds off, fading out. Teleport could also have a "summon small portal, jump in". A "jump on a bike, drive off" (one of MM thugs already has a bike for his entrance animation) or similar could also be possible, if strange in some places.

For travel destinations I would suggest the spots where base/ouro teleport dumps you.
  4. If I recall correctly, examining the .costume files created by the Save option on test servers has shown that 4 RGB colors are saved for each costume piece. So the data structure is already there, except for capes that already use all 4 colors.
Also, what you are suggesting is (the way I understand it) not a third color as such, but a way to have 2 different color patterns on the same costume piece.
  5. Until now adding more patron pools was not feasible as each new pool would also require a patron npc + 4 arcs and existing characters with a patron chosen could not access any of this content. Until now.. err until I13.

With the separation between patron story arcs and power pools additional pools could be added with relative ease. Not as easily as hero side epic pools as any new patron pool would still need to have an npc that 'teaches' it.

So what are your ideas for new 'patrons' and themes for their pools?

    mine:
    Ice Mistral: cold and weather
    Silver Mantis: stealth/cloaking and gadgets
Vernon von Grun: plant pets and plant control

    It's a bug, not a conspiracy,

Same thing happened in the US a few weeks ago, but much more serious. They only had the top 5 or 6 sections

As I recall all forums below Brutes were gone. So of course Brutes got the blame. They didnt mind.
  7. [ QUOTE ]

    This, I like.
However the travel power pools follow a set pattern:
1, 2: "offensive" and "utility" powers
    3: the actual travel power
4: [censored] (except acrobatics) with some situational use

So my variant of adrenaline would be:
1: On the edge: You like living dangerously. Attacks made against you cause a minor but somewhat stacking damage buff and have a chance to cause a short range pbAoE fear (scary crazy person).
2: Adrenaline boost/shot: clicky +recovery +recharge buff. Maybe add a recovery (not endurance) crash when it ends for balance.
3: Parkour: Toggle, a combination of sprint+swift+combat jumping, if the engine allows it would be great if it enabled jumping when next to a vertical surface (bounce off walls etc), oh and +stealth at a similar level to Superspeed.
4: cant think of anything good atm

    [/ QUOTE ]

After some more pondering this would be v2.0 of my suggestion:
1: Pounce: ranged (but short range) attack that knocks down the target and teleports you to him. Basically a lesser version of the I13 shield charge.
    2: Adrenaline boost/shot: clicky +recovery +damage buff.
3: Parkour: Toggle, a combination of sprint+swift+combat jumping, if the engine allows it would be great if it enabled jumping when next to a vertical surface (bounce off walls etc), oh and +stealth at a similar level to Superspeed. Note that jumping off walls doesnt allow to climb or hang on to them - so there shouldnt be need for new animations.
    4. On the edge: You like living dangerously. A recovery buff that scales with health (less health-more recov, like the scaling resistances in /SR passives). And attacks made against you have a chance to cause a short range, low mag pbAoE fear (scary crazy person).
  8. IRL I'm kinda like technician Naylor but without the accent.

As for my main Metalmorphosis, he is a mix of Black Scorpion and Dr Aeon: firm believer in the power of technology, smart enough to develop his own tech and thinking in terms of "deals" and "tradeoffs" rather than "right" and "wrong".
  9. Making a grav/energy dom and deciding to follow a "ranged attacks only" theme. Deleted him at 20 after failing to solo.. anything.
Oh and deleting a DB brute on whom I had grinded for the redcap daggers - kinda miss it now, but no way I'm going to redo that.

    Nemesis Chain

    He probably meant Legacy chain.
Not that theres anything wrong about chains-n-leather themed nemesis subgroup...

How about borrowing a concept from TheOtherGame™?

Logging off in safe areas lets you log out imidiately?
SG bases, PD.. um, find a way to designate other safe area's, like area around a police drone?

At the same time, logging out in a risky area (like a PvP zone) could take longer? 1 minute or so? *shrugs* this is just an after thought that wouldn't be popular, I think.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Designating safe logout places will be easier than you think: the entire new "day jobs" system is based on knowing where the character logs out
Of course that does not mean such differing logout timers will be implemented - but it can be done.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
The 30 second timer is there to prevent potential exploits using rapid logout/login and is unlikely to be changed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    shortened quote

While I understand the need for the 30 second timer, as CoX is very alt-friendly in other areas it would make sense if switching between characters was more convenient. Also, I suspect that the people annoyed by the 30 second timer are actually annoyed by the fact they cannot do anything during those 30 seconds.
    So my suggestion:
When quitting to logout, a button with quit now is shown that, well, quits, but the toon stays in game (and can be attacked) for the full 30 seconds. And after a fast exit a timer for the remaining part of the original 30 (plus maybe 5-10 more, thats how long it usually takes to log into game+choose server) seconds is shown and "entering the world" is only possible once the timer has run out. So the timer is still there but people can use that time to log into game, choose server and select character.

    Mace/Bane Mace

Perhaps the reason player bane mace is one handed is to be compatible with the Black Scorpion mace powers? Do the two maces show as separate weapons in costume screen on a VEAT with BS patron pool?
But then, all the patron mace powers either shoot, launch grenades or summon, so I'm not sure if it counts as one handed anyway.
  14. Charcoal - because all the other fire themed names were taken. Mutant fire/thermal corr. My first character but I joined the game around I10.
As an aside: anyone else think they have a stack of dictionaries in paragon city hall to help new heroes find a yet unused name?

Quad Machine - rad/rad corr. Name is from a song by Sonic Mayhem. A (mad) scientist who found a way to transfer minds into machines and did it on himself. Power > sensations, for him.

Metalmorphosis - surprised it wasnt taken, may yet reroll but the cyborg costume stays.

Adjective Noun - my only hero. Taking advice on name from a veteran crimefighter = good. Taking said advice literally = not quite as good

Mechaneirist - bots/traps MM. The name is from an old book by S. Lem where it was a generic term for robotics specialists/programmers.

Power Junkie - because thats what brutes are

Demonbred - Arachnos widow of mixed ancestry.

Not sure about the idea of the Money pool, but do like the Arenaline pool, lets say...

Free Run: Auto, self +run, jump speed (75% as effective as having Swift and Hurdle), -20% immobilisation time

Adrenaline Shot: Click, same recharge/duration as Hasten, self +Recovery (1.2/sec unenhanced), +run speed (same % as having Swift), accepts Recovery IO sets

Parkour: Toggle, self +Run Speed (Less than Super Speed, more than Swift + Sprint) +Jump height/speed/movement (about the same as Combat Jumping), very minor stealth (halves normal aggro range)

Base Jump: Toggle, can only be activated off the ground, this will slow your fall speed and make you immune to fall damage, gives you forward flight at about the speed of Swift and Sprint, very slow turning and cannot move backwards, automatically turns off when you touch any ground, 15 second recharge
