Quote:I swear, I personally think I am just really unlucky in radio/paper missions, but my purple count now currently stands at 5, total. 4 Blueside, 1 Red. (Dropped two soloing in RWZ just last night, YEAP!) When I've soloed paper/radio mishes I've ran them at +0/+4. Running about 3-4 a night. If I had built a better farming Brute/Tanker/Scrapper, I'd be running missions higher than +0/+4. First week I dropped one. Then, the next two weeks nothing, and I can only farm (unsuccessfully result-wise on drops) so much before I grow bored of it. Just wondering into RWZ on a whim really paid off. If my rate WAS one purple a week I'd be more happy. But I've basically excepted, 1) Don't need them, 2) Couldn't get them if I really wanted to. Anyway, I'll definately go back into RWZ tonite again, see if I can drop another.I dunno about all this hub-bub about purple prices. Just doing paper missions in GV I can get 2-4 purple drops a week. From those, I sell, and then buy the ones I really want. I'm sure there must be other methods of getting purps but papers are easy to solo and fun in groups. Ran three papers this morning and got a purp. I suspect the people not getting purps are due to them doing things where purps never drop - like AE?

Polarizing may be the best word for the Mission Architect. Never in any MMO, at least that I have ever played has there ever been an in-game subject more discussed amongst it's community. And the drama that has played before us is pretty remarkable. Heralded as the next great thing to happen for MMO's. The intent was to provide an endless source of new story arcs, but in the end became a powergaming tool. Devs nerfing, and players exploiting, with roleplayers and farmers in that grey area in between sniping at one another.
I do have to say though, you really have to give it to the players who found the holes in th MA to find inventive way to powergame; powerlevel, inf. farm, ticket farm, etc. We were given this shiny new toy to play with, possiblity being endless...and then we beat it, ***** it, discarded it, and left bleeding on the roadside. Ouch.
The issue that changed PvP I think was the worst. I'm not a hardcore PvPer, I've tried to. Having the second build availible helped, but some powersets just cannot PvP, that turned me off almost completely, I only PvP (and badly yes...) when I bored. Not saying PvP, isn't fun, it's just limited. -
Quote:The only reason I ever used the AE was tickets. No more XP? Sure. Just undo all the other AE nerfs and kill the XP in AE missions, except perhaps in the Dev's Choices and Hall of Famers.MA was sold, as a special edition, with the promise that it would provide an alternative means of levelling through player created content. Removing XP would involve a pretty nasty bait and switch involving real money. I could see people getting even more upset about that.
Now, the characters I take into AE are mostly level 50s anyways. I'd still play it for tickets. But that isn't how it was sold. -

Recently I had to replace the video card for my computer. I was given a nVidia GeForce 8400 GS card as a repleacement, being told it was as good or close to the video card that had when I first bought my computer. Long story short, I'm not pleased with it. The tech people that fixed my computer agreed to refund me the cost of the card.
My computer is a Dell XPS 630i, running on Windows XP. I was looking at purchasing either a GeForce 9800 GT or a GeForce GTS 250 video card since these are within my price range. I'd prefer to go with a nVidia video card because the drivers on my computer are nVidia's, so I think either card would be compatible, however I'm unsure about that. I'm positive that my computer can handle the power required for either card (400 W and 450 W).
I just need to know if they'd compatible with my computer and what's involved in installing and putting the new card into my computer. Any advice would be helpful, thank you. -
I there a cap on running speed? Thinking about making one of my toon's second build have a really high run speed, via IO sets, GotA Globals, and 3-slotting Sprint, Swift, and Quickness, but not using Super Speed. I just want to make sure I'm not wasting time and inf. on something that can be easily done w/o IO's sets and GotA globals.

The last group I was in for the Barracuda Strike Force was comprised of:
SS/Stone Brute
SS/Fire Brute
Ice/Kin Corr
Merc/Traps MM
Rad/Rad Corr
Mind/Psi Dom <--me
Elec/SR Stalker
...and something else can't remember, might have been another Kin
(Scratch that, I remember now it was a Night Widow.)
My main job was do my best to mez as many 5th Column as I could, Mass Hypnosis, Total Domination, Mass Confusion. On my own I did pretty well. It gave time for the Stalker to wait until we really, really needed to use the panic button and clear the room.
I give the silver star to the Traps MM though. Triage Beacon, FF Generator, Acid Mortar, Poison Trap, and Mercanies, filled every role you need for that last fight. Heal, Defense, DeBuff, Heal, and even death fodder. I say a Trap MM is a must. -
As someone who JUST transfered over my toons to Virtue from Victroy Server, in the first few days I can already see a significant ease in the the ability to find a team; whether it be missions, AE, or TF's. As someone who ONLY played redside over in Victory, I wanted to start something heroside with GR coming soon in an attempt to get some of my villain toons ready for the switch over. So far I'm finding Virtue to my liking. It is a much larger populationa and so far I haven't experienced not being able to find a team reasonably fast.
So far so good Virtue. -
I was thinking about moving some toons to a new server and I read that I could lose my toon's name if I did. So can there be a toon with a only one specific name across all servers? Or several toons with the same name in EACH server. (EX: one toon named DAN for all servers, or Several DANs in each individual server?)

So Tyrant defeats the Praetorian Hamidon, not killing it, but never the less defeats it and saves the world from the Devouring Earth. Perhaps foreshadowing whats in store for us in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles?
(I really want to do Hami Raid redside now! Anyone from Victory reading this?) -
Sounds good. I'd rather it be more like a player event, be more fun this way. I'll keep checking this thread, let me know if can set up something.

Wow. That's it? Three players with heavies? I'm actually stunned... So actually if you had enough reputation could you buy 3 heavy cores and solo them?
Actually, that's kind of disappointing to be honest. I thought it be a much larger undertaking to beat the Freedom Phalanx in RV... I was picturing like 2 or 3 teams swarming them in RV. Oh well. -
I was wondering has anyone recently gotten any Recluse's Victory hero defeat badges? Is possible since DR in PvP zones? And would anyone like to team up sometime after the New Year to get them? I figure it would take at least two full teams maybe more... Maybe someone at P.E.R.C. could get involved to help out?

Quote:Man, where were you two months ago. I've been arguing about this forever. Just not nearly worded as nicely as you.Pay attention.
Individual villains might be able to buy anything on the market, but overall, the supply of things redside is lower. That means inf transferred from blueside to redside is going to be less than inf transferrred from redside to blueside.
There simply are fewer villains than there are heroes. This is a fact. In the aggregate, villains generate much less inf than heroes, just from the sheer weight of number. They generate fewer recipies, and less salvage.
While, yes, inf under a merged market would flow freely between the sides, the fact is, prices for everything would rise. And with fewer villains playing, that means individuals redside would have a harder time paying for things from the merged market.
Also, in a merged market situation, the flow of influence to infamy would quickly stabilize, leaving villains overall in a poorer position.
Teams are generally the best/fastest way of generating influence and infamy. Have you tried to form teams redside? Let me tell you, most of the time, you cannot get a large team together, redside, unless there is an event of some kind running. Blueside, on the other hand, it is easy to get into a team.
The developers have kept the markets separate, and it's a good thing they have. It keeps local market conditions local and doesn't force people to pay blueside prices, redside.Anyway, yeah I completely agree with everything you said regarding redside.

Does uninstalling CoX from my computer count as a result?

Quote:I absolutely feel your pain. They never make it convienent or helpful ever to ease the burden of making new toons when you lack someone else to trust ingame. I would support offline SG invites, but everyone amongst my friends in our (or should I say now my) SG quit, ergo I could care less now. And I absolutely agree some servers are dying depending what side. Redside on Victory is nearly dead, and refuse to pay to move a toon, it's a f'ing joke... And while I believe Going Rogue might solve that problem when it goes live, in the meantime those that do feel their server is dying/dead are left in in the lurch. Double XP weekend will get players active for awhile, as well the Halloween event for it's duration.1)A "bank" system of some sort..each player on a server has 1 bank account at a bank and all their toons can deposit and withdraw from it.maybe 2 locations like atlas and talos or something (or even more). But somewhere easily accessable to both yellow and green lines. It sure beats having to use someone else to transfer money.Maybe a SMALL charge for using it. Note the word SMALL lol.(Of course free would be better). We already have to pay for server transfers, extra toon slots, and expansion packs that probably arent worth paying for *cough* wedding pack *cough*...We're gonna transfer money anyway so why not make it official?
2)Kill a server. Now that the AE controversy hype (and overhype) has died down some servers are dead again and some stayed dead even during the AE "gold rush".Isn't it about time everyone on dead server(s) was/were moved from one to another.Im not saying kill alot of em but 1 MAYBE 2 would help. You neutered AE to urge people to get back to teaming (and force people to work for a living lol) but while it worked for some servers, others it didnt.
Just my opinion..but I think the first one shouldve been done a long time ago...opinions?
I sympathize, but keep dreaming if you think we'll get anything helpful to make things easier ever again in this game. I think Devs are still pissed at us for destroying the AE. -
It might sound childish, simple-minded, or perhaps even completely stupid but perhaps the mentality that we think Stalkers aren't useful is because...well....we don't see them do a lot. Because... they're hidden... half the time....
-
Well, if you are going to purple hunting...might as well be out of SG mode for that reason at you'll get more inf. I have to say I wish those type of drops came around more often, not neccessarily purples... just... y'know the good stuff. Yesterday was one of the few days lately where I logged off feeling happy and why my posts here weren't completely negative.
-
You sure? I've noticed a pretty significant boost in the number of stuff I've dropped lately, its nothing of big singnificance. More regular IO's and uncommon IO sets. But still an increase none the less. I can only speak from personal experience.
-
I've been pretty vocal about this in the past, it's funny to see this near the top of the board so I might as well post. Just yesterday I dropped my second purple recipe...in now 18 months playing... Let's face it. You have to farm. What one person does or does not consider farming is another story. But I consider running paper mishes over and over again at difficulty lvl 4. my best bet when you solo. It's not a typical farm but the repetitiveness to makes it farming. Having teammates or better, geting someone to pad would help. Make sure you're not in SG mode, you get less drops. <- It was only until recently I discovered this about SG mode, if I had known I wouldn't have complained so damn much, my bad.
-
When did I say anything about WoW? I don't even play it.
-
Dude... of course some people get purples. The ******* people who play for more hours than I could EVER squeeze in. DUH. I think thats common knowledge. Is it completely unreasonable to suggest theat those that farm more, get more, better stuff?
And yeah, of course my statement isn't %100 true for everyone. NO ONE'S POST ARE ******* %100 TRUE EVERYONE!!!. ******* OPINION, DIP-****!!! Did you honestly THINK I was speaking for all? Based only on MY experience playing this game? ARE YOU ******* KIDDING ME!!
For example, tonight... checked my server channel, put out request on the channel and the broadcast, nothing happened. Is that ******* hard to believe that TF's don't happen every night?
Now as far as expectations...WELL let's see. I figured if farmed the wall enough, did enough paper mishes on lvl. 4 Difficulty, gathered enough merits(merits what a joke red-side), and sold enough crap on BM. In about than 2-3 months I'd have at least a couple of purple sets... in the meager time I play. I mean is it that really too unreasonable? Hmmm? IS it hard to believe that after a year, a year....one ******* year that I got to uber a toon completely out? Yes? No? Maybe? -
Quote:Dude... tried AE --->(key phrase here)--->(wait for it...) AFTER gave up on purples. See the the difference?Again, you must be playing a different City of Heroes game than I do. Off the top of my head, I've gotten close to a dozen purple recipe drops just playing normal game content, not farming.
Huh. I really must play in the bizarro world of CoH then. Last night (a Monday night) I was on back to back Lady Grey and Imperious TF's, and I saw at least 3 other TF's being formed during the same time period. Before joining the first TF, I was playing around solo on a brute for a bit, and within 15 minutes, I had gotten a tell inviting me to a team. Day before that, I formed a full low level villain team within about 20 minutes, that kept going for a good 2 hours.
All of this on Protector, a 'low' population server.
Sounds to me, like you either have unrealistic expectations, or need to re-evaluate your own playstyle.
