What does that solve? It just makes everyone do the trials on their "good" character and then trade the salvage off to characters that don't earn the same rewards using the current metric. It means that everybody who runs the trials is going to want to run as an AoE death machine, and will limit the number of (frankly necessary) buff/debuff and other support players.

The solution is to fix the metric, not to throw out the system. It's a good system as an idea, it's just blatantly ignorant of some powersets and the resulting play styles. Tankers and Masterminds are the ATs hit hardest, given their almost complete lack of personal AoE attacks.

    Astral Merits.

As for my feelings on the reward table, I'm pretty sure I'm getting a good participation score and that my rewards at the end are just a result of my neverending bad luck. Still, I've only gotten one Common reward, and generally get an Uncommon for every Lambda and a Rare for every BAF. (I think the Lambda is skewed against me due to Marauder's high Smashing/Lethal resistance, and that covers 90% of the damage I can do.) I have yet to see a Very Rare reward offer, but again, I'm notoriously unlucky for random drops--I average one purple recipe drop every two months, even though I play my level 50 hero almost exclusively these days.

    Back on topic...

I convert all my Astrals to threads currently, as I'm still building a stable of Incarnate abilities, but once I have everything slotted the way I want (including an alternate slotting of T3 Seers for Lore to better assist on MoLambda runs), I'll just save all my Astrals.

I can't afford 400M inf to craft Very Rare trial rewards, despite having plenty of Rare salvage in my inventory, so I'll be using Empyreans to buy them over the next couple months. It's not really a big deal; the T4s for the new Incarnate slots don't offer a huge leap over the T3s' capabilities the way they can depending on your choice of Alpha slot. I also enjoy the trials enough to run them multiple times weekly, and don't see that changing as long as they continue to be popular with the group(s) I run with.

I had that problem last night. I kept getting Mapserved (I think 4 times in about 90 min), and every time I'd try to check the forums and found myself unable to access them.

Since no one else on my team got dc'ed and I could access other things on the web, I took it to mean there was some sort of connection problem via an intermediate network node.

Well, this is for a patch, at least. The downtime on Wednesday was to fix something server-side.

I'm more miffed that the website says the downtime is supposed to start at 3:00 Eastern today, but it's apparently starting at 1:00 instead. Guess when I'm available to play today? 1:00 to 3:00.
  7. I'm guessing a crazy Incarnate ITF?
  8. Every time I'm on a BAF and the league leader tries to specify that an entire team is to work on the ambushes, I always suggest that he have 2 people from each team on ambushes while everyone else works on the AVs. Most BAFs I've been on already run this way, but there's the occassional PUG with an inexperienced (or jackass iXP hoarding) leader.

For one, 8 people are not needed to handle the adds, especially once they've got some of the new Incarnate abilities slotted. Six attackers are more than sufficient, and it's entirely feasible with 4 (if you wanted to split the league into 4 teams of 6, which we do sometimes during the final phase).

Secondly, and more obviously, this means that everybody on every team will get some of the iXP for the ambushes.

EDIT: Not that I'm arguing the point of the suggestion. I vote "hell yes!" even though that'll make it easier for people to sponge.

The right Reactive Interface ability can add Fire damage to 75% of your attacks. I made sure to upgrade to that prior to the MoLambda run we did. (Not that it helps when he's in Unstoppable, but that is what it is.)

  11. Here's a thread started by one of the most high-profile Mastermind users on the board, discussing the disparity in rewards between MMs and other character classes:

It's not that they "arbitrarily" singled out Spiritual, it's that they flagged ALL Incarnate abilities to be unaffected by changes in Recharge (just like the T9 abilities in Shield and Willpower).

This means that they can't be affected by Speed Boost, Hasten, Accellerate Metabolism, or any other number of powers that give you a Recharge buff. That list just happens to include the Spiritual Alpha boosts.

I believe it also makes them immune to Recharge Debuffs, though... so feel free to fight your way through ice-based enemies and Council Galaxy troopers, secure in the knowledge that your Judgement power will be up to vaporize a group 90 seconds after the last time you fired it.

    Mouse running

I think you can do it with the following command:
    Code:
    /bind mouse1+mouse2 " "
If not, there should be able to change the button press in the controls, and then /unbind that key to restore it to its default command.
  14. I'm up to 1223, with two badges left I can actually get... the one for the new SF, and the one for 50 Strike Targets. (It's going to take me a while on the latter...)
  15. It doesn't mean the most damaging attack you have, it means most attacks that do damage. You're just misreading it.

FYI, I think Interface works on everything except temp powers. (I know it works on every Power Pool and APP attack that my main has.)
  16. It's against the board rules to create a petition. Just so you know, in case your thread disappears later and you think the devs are just hating on you or something.

From what I've heard, though, the MM drop rate is a known issue, and very likely one similar to the issues they had in i19 with the Praetorian zone events (I haven't followed enough to see if those were fixed... I don't have any MMs that I badge with or are above level 32).

This is fantastic information that I was not aware of. Thanks DumpleBerry!

  19. I think the lag actually killed Marauder in our MoLambda run last night. We had something like 8 seconds left on the clock and he was still at about 5% health. It had been laggy from the moment we started fighting him, but it got really quiet for a moment and none of our attacks could fire off... then all of the sudden he just crumpled to the ground.

    Uhhh... yay? Go us?

This is actually something I came up with and tried on our MoLambda run last night. After the first couple tubes went down, I split off from the group and went into one of the side rooms, then cleared out the mobs surrounding the glowie.

We would have gotten a pretty good sync on that one, except the person on vent who was relaying the damage of their glowie happened to be on our team. Whoops!

It's nonsense that rewards aren't split between everyone on the League.
Every BAF Trial I've been on that wasn't run by Masque or MP, the leader will say "Team 1 attack Nightstar, Team 2 attack Siege, Team 3 get the ambushes." And every time, I'll say, "No, have two people from each team go attack the ambushes, so EVERYONE gets the XP for them." And lo and behold, they've always listened to me.

(That said, yes, rewards should be normalized throughout the league.)

Well, do both trials every time you play for 15 days, and you'll have enough Empyrean Merits to straight-up buy the part you're missing if it doesn't drop. (I'm looking forward to T4 Ionic myself... mmmmm, chain lightning...)
  24. I agree with everything that Masque said. The trials are a lot of fun; they're fast paced, but they still require strategy and often require thinking while on your feet.

(Also, I apologize for going off and fighting the adds in that BAF run when he told me not to. Scrapperlock and all that. )

I did lead a couple Lambdas early on last week, before anybody really had level shifts... it was a little too stressful for me at the time, but I think I could do better now that I've got a few more under my belt. I was sure everyone probably thought I was a bossy jerk, but a few people sent me PMs to thank me for at least trying to run a tight ship.

Soooo... who wants to try for the Master badges tonight?
