I felt the sting of both of these early in my superhero career...

    Baby!

    Woot! Mega-gratz, Olo!!!
  3. I just generally don't buy books, barring manga. And even the manga I collect are either now completed--meaning I already own them all--or are on hiatus.

For a parallel that does affect me, I'm really not liking all the talk that next gen video game systems won't use media anymore. I've got shelves and shelves of video games from the PS1 on (earlier stuff doesn't display as well, so it's packed in boxes), and I really don't like the idea that I won't be able to display new titles.

My character gets around that by just fighting in his civilian clothes all the time.

(But I'm not Golden Girl, and therefore am allowed to have more than one character. )
  6. Are you trying to customize them via the costume tab or the powers tab?

They can only be customized in the latter.

(Apologies if you already knew this... I'm at work and don't have access to the game client to test your bug myself at the moment.)

Is this the one involving noble titles and a round object traditionally worn on the third finger of the hand? Because they've been advertising on TV like crazy.

If it's a different game, then I honestly have no idea which one you're talking about, and am thus surprised that they saw a huge influx of players.

  9. The very first ITF I did after unlocking the Alpha slot gave me 11 or 12 Incarnate Shards. Super lucky, right? But since then, I've only gotten 8 at most in a single run.

And then, last night, I did a LGTF. I got three Incarnate Shards out of the whole thing (2 for Hami and one for either H'rod'tohz or Honoree, can't remember). Not so lucky, I know.

But it's okay... cuz... RANDOM IS FLIPPING RANDOM.

Just City of Heroes, really. Every once in a while I'll grab a demo of something, or play a game from the late 90s/early 2000s, but really I only use the hardware to play CoH.

I just really like getting new computer parts.

From maintenance one Tuesday to the maintenance on the next. Weekly Strike Targets change every Tuesday.

You can get one WST reward on Monday night, then get another on the new target the following day with no problems.

Not gonna happen anyway. Doctor Who said the Earth survives all the way until the sun expands around the year five billion (and in fact then some--it's shielded for a while so wealthy spectators can pay to see its destruction).

    ... My girlfriend got me started watching Doctor Who this past month. >_>;;
  13. You ALSO got a massive end-of-TF XP bonus the first time you did it. That's what non-50s get as a reward instead of the Notice.

I disagree. On my characters who do not have Alpha fully slotted yet, Shards are still very welcome. And even on the ones that do have Alpha slotted up, I wouldn't mind gradually building up to the point where I could have spare T3/T4s in different branches lying around, should I find an overwhelming need for endurance or recharge reduction in future content.

I'm with you on this, Snow. I'd like to see the cost for a Rare upgrade drop to 10M and Ultra Rare drop to 100M at most. (I'd be happy if they went even lower than that.)

I simply can't afford 100M to upgrade my multitude of Uncommons to a Rare, and I wouldn't even call myself a casual player... I just don't farm or play the market.
  18. The GeForce 8800 series cards were also listed as being the minimum to run Ultra Mode at all. This ended up being not-quite the case--the 8800 runs at a little under medium, if memory serves, and I was able to run a few features such as the Ultra water and reflection effects on my old 7600.

The best results came about from the GeForce 260 (and newer) lines of cards, or the ATI Radeon HD 5800 (and newer) cards.

Everything else on that list is peachy, though. Not top of the line by any means, but nothing else is holding you back.

I tend to do $1-1.5K every three years, so yeah, you've got me beat. I end up swapping hard drives about every two years because I get paranoid that they're going to die on me.

I also just spent $300 on a video card last spring (which somehow managed to surprise me by requiring an $100 PSU), and I already kinda want to upgrade it again. And then there was the mid-fall $1400 upgrade in which I splurged on a $250 computer case (I should never need to buy a computer case ever again, as long as form factors don't change drastically).

At the very least, I have a serious itch to upgrade the GeForce 7600 in my previous computer to a $150ish current generation GeForce card, and see if I can get at least 2GB more memory into it (not sure if I'll be able to find compatible 2x2GB sticks for it, though... it's an older DDR2 board).

The REALLY sad thing is that I don't need the level of hardware I've got, even in my older system, for anything other than CoH. Even my previous system would still blow away most of what you can buy off the shelf at Best Buy for under a grand. But, I do IT support for a living, and can't help but drool over new PC components as they come out...

Right now, aside from the upgrades to my old system and possible new video card for my current system, I've also got a craving to play with some SSD drives, and maybe to build a small file/multimedia server to act as a DVR system. It's kind of a shame I quit programming when I finished college... if motivated, I could probably build a completely kick-*** DVR application with some of the knowledge the engineers in my company have acquired in working on video.

I did a trial the other night with two cat-man characters. (There was also a really poorly-done werewolf using some of the CoV pieces--I say poorly-done because there were better free options available than what he was using, but to each their own.)

I haven't used the new animal parts on many characters, though... mainly just a concept character named "Falcon Paunch" (fat boxing bird) that I haven't even gotten though the tutorial yet. However, I DO use Beast Run as my Praetorian Alp character's main mode of travel. I also very nearly changed a costume to use the flat beast feet from a recent update for a barefoot character, but they came out looking a little too hobbit-y for what I was going for.

I have a bro-crush on John Cusack. (I don't want to make out with him and I certainly don't want to do him... I just want to look up at him and sigh dreamily.)

Actually, the one thing I dislike (aside from the above) is that there doesn't seem to be an option to recolor the avatar's hair beneath one of the new Steampunk hats.

... But it was 1:00 AM and I was dozing off pretty hard while making a steampunk leprechaun on Test last night, so there may have been such an option that just wasn't apparent...

    Let's see...

SR's Elude (for Stalkers): runs 3 min, recharges in 16.7 min, +45% def to all positions, +%100 recovery, +34.6% resistance to defense debuffs, +200% jump, +175% run speed

Ninjitsu's Kuji-In Retsu: runs 3 min, recharges in 16.7 min, +45% def to all positions, +%100 recovery, +34.6% resistance to defense debuffs, +200% jump, +175% run speed...

Yeah, Elude is so much better. 9_9

(You DO know that Ninjitsu has a really good self heal in it, right?)
  25. Then why not just say "They stopped balancing the game around PVP a LONG time ago?"

Hyperbole and sarcasm don't always come across in plain text.

And you're still coming across as someone saying, "Waaah, it's not fair, why can't I have more cake than the other kids!?!"
