DDR machines? I think I wanna join this gym!
(That's probably the best way I've ever seen MMs put in reference to their drag on server processing.) -
So... Masterminds, Controllers and EATs would be like the rock climbing wall and the swimming pool. If you don't pay your gym fees, you could come run on the treadmill, ride the exercise bike, hit the free weights or use the rowing machine... but you can't climb the rock wall or swim in the pool without an arm band.

Quote:That is certainly how many people THINK it works, but (as I suspect you know), that's wrong. Now I could be really, really wrong, but I think a lot of Premium/historic players are looking at it like this:
Buying City of Heroes is like buying a car. You've got it, it's yours. You can't do anything with it unless you put gas in it--pay your monthly sub. They upgrade and modify the car in all sorts of ways, City of Villains, Going Rogue, various perks, etc. They may quit and rejoin, periodically--but always with the understanding that once they put some gas in the car, they can go wherever they want to go.
And in the whole MM controversy, it's like someone told them, "Here, have free gas! Forever!" And when they get in the car, they find it doesn't have any wheels anymore.
Subscribing City of Heroes is actually like RENTING a car (with the gas being, like, your internet subscription or something). Now, with CoH Freedom, they're saying, "Y'know what, everybody gets free cars and drive them as much as they want, but they don't have to even pay us anymore! The only difference is, the free car is a one-seater and doesn't have a trunk, and isn't allowed to drive on certain roads. If you want to add more seats or a trunk or drive on the newest roads, you have to pay us a new one-time fee for it.
"Or, you can just keep renting your existing car at the same price, get access to most (if not all) of the newest roads, and we'll even throw in some custom decals and other bonuses to make it worth your while." -
Quote:The best way I heard this described was by another player on these forums:So if I am a VIP, drop to premium and unlock a new character slot to play a new character, when I go back to VIP I will be locked out of that new slot because I did not have it unlocked when I was a VIP?
Think of VIP and Premium status as "Alternate Builds" for your characters, only they're alternate builds for your account instead.
(Not saying I agree with it, but it does make a certain amount of sense.) -

Quote:While the above is true, it's not what the post you were quoting was asking.VIP's get both Paragon Reward Tokens and Paragon Points.
Each month a VIP gets 400 Paragon Points added to their account.
Each month a VIP gets 1 or more Paragon Reward tokens that can be spend on what was Veteran rewards but will now be called Paragon Rewards.
So it is two different things.
Vox was asking, if you cancel your subscription before July 1st and thus do not get the bonus Paragon Points leading up to the launch of CoHF/i21, how things will work.
We can assume from various redname statements that yes, we will be getting a supply of Paragon Reward Tokens based on the length of our previous subscription, but no bonus Paragon Points because the subscription will not be active in the specified time.
Leading back to the info in YOUR post: yes, if you keep your subscription active, you will get both Paragon Points and some number of Paragon Reward Tokens between July 1 and the launch of CoHF. You should also receive a number of Paragon Reward Tokens based on your previous subscription. -
Definitely the late hours. I fixed it in the following post where I made the list, but not the original one. (Which I would have continued to forget had you not drawn attention to it, so... thanks!)

Quote:In the last 12 months, there were at least 4... 5 if you count the "Going Rogue Complete Collection Item Pack."I'm also being rather generous as there were probably only 2 booster packs released last year (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
Party Pack (emotes only)
Origins Pack (new cape + 2 auras themed around each origin)
Animal Pack
Steampunk Pack
Also, depending on when you want to start that 12 month period, the Mutant Super Booster released in June 2010. -

Let's do this in a list!
If you are not paying for your account in City of Heroes Freedom, this is how many characters you'll have access to:- BASE FREE/PREMIUM ACCOUNT: 2 characters, total
- OWN GOING ROGUE BEFORE FREEDOM LAUNCH: Add 2 more characters
- PER YEAR OF PAST SUBSCRIPTION: Add 1 character per year
- PER PURCHASED CHARACTER SLOT (beyond standard 12 per server): Add 1 character per slot purchased
If you are paying your subscription come City of Heroes Freedom, this is how many characters you'll have access to:- VIP ACCOUNT: 12 characters PER SERVER total
- OWN GOING ROGUE BEFORE FREEDOM LAUNCH: Add 2 more characters
- PER YEAR OF PAST SUBSCRIPTION: Add 1 character per year
- PER PURCHASED CHARACTER SLOT (beyond standard 12 per server): Add 1 character per slot purchased
- Other bonuses possible (+2 for being an i12 subscriber, etc.)

Quote:The yellowed part is incorrect. You get two TOTAL, not per server.Ok, I'm just going to ask this in layman's terms:
I am currently a subscribing member and I have TONS of alts. However, sometimes I cannot pay my sub fee and welcome the chance to be able to play during those times. From what I am understanding, I will at least be able to play two toons (except MM's, right?) on each server while I am free to play. I can unlock my other toons with earned PP. Ok, now, my concern is only this - I won't lose any of my created characters? I mean, they might be locked but none of them will disappear, right?
(It's actually 2 + however many extra character slots you purchased/earned + 2 if you already own Going Rogue) -
84 months (7 years), but yes, that's the highest announced Vet Reward.

Trial accounts do not get access to the beta server or the test server.
In fact, right now the beta server is closed off for the Issue 21 Closed Beta, and only a select few people can access it--even those of us with active accounts can't use it right now. -

Do you mean the game is in a window?
1) Go to your Menu (top right option above your XP bar) then scroll down and open Options.
2) Click the Graphics and Audio tab.
3) Change the "Screen/UI Resolution" to whatever your laptop is capable of.
4) Restart the game.
That should take care of it. -
It's shorthand for Gameplay Issues or Technical Issues, dude.
It's not a "Gameplay Issue." A gameplay issue is when something in the game isn't behaving correctly or it's affecting a disability that the rest of the game doesn't bother (such as colorblindness, seizures or migraines). This doesn't include ADHD.
"I don't like it" isn't a problem with the game, it's a problem sitting in your chair. As mentioned previously, these sorts of posts are intended for the Suggestion or General Discussion boards. -
Quote:Uhh... what won't you be able to buy access to (outside of the VIP server)? Now, I'll settle for a Premium account if I can buy access to everything VIPs have, apart from the server which I'm not bothered about, from the store. I know that isn't the case and I know why it's not the case, it's just how I feel.
It seems like access to just about everything will be for sale a la carte from what we've seen so far. Have you seen anything saying what won't be for sale? -

Quote:Oh, sure, just keep rubbing it in that I failed Intro to Economics, the class where 95% of students get an A...An idea that has been shot down by anybody who has participated in Economics 001. Not necessarily graduated mind you... but participated.
(Yes, it's a true story. Shut up.) -
Quote:"Newer residents" will also have the option of paying "the city council" for more "coupons" if they want both. Now, the people who already have a 2.8% tax break can get the free meals, but newer residents have to decide between getting a tax break or getting a free meal.
That's ignoring the disparity of taxes versus the cost of a meal, of course. -
I don't think Hoarfrost can be boosted due to its enhanceable Toxic damage resistance.
I could be wrong about that; the rules of what Power Boost can and can't affect are confusing.
Still, unenhanced it gives back 30% of your HP. I wouldn't consider that wimpy. -
HP cap for a level 50 Blaster is 1606.4 HP. You've probably just hit the level 48 HP cap.
