Anyone have a currency cheat sheet?
*head scratch* I guess I can throw one together.
How's this?
Very nice.
Be well, people of CoH.

Reward Merits Vanguard Merits Hero/Villain Merit Incarnate Shard Incarnate Thread Astral merit Empyrean merit Architect Entertainment Ticket Prestige Candy Canes |
I consider Shards and Threads as invention components not necessarily a currency. I don't understand why the Reward, Vanguard and H/V merits can't be combined into the same system to simplify things.... Why are they really different? For what they are used for, it really doesn't scream out to me the need for a difference.
Astral/Empyrean merits are imo simply there to encourage ppl to play iTrials more.
Arc-E Tickets I can kind of see the reason to have them to use for Arc-E bonuses but then again, why not use Merits for the that too... after you get past opening up maps and characters and such they are good for some of the same stuff merits are good for. (recipes and salvage, ect.)
Prestige No other use but Base related items, ok fine.
and Candy Canes... a seasonal goodie... not too bad

"My life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely pretty and well preserved, but rather I will skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...WOW...What a Ride"
you forgot that shards can be converted to threads, left out Notices altogether
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
By the technical definition, we only have one currency in the game. Everything else is nontradeable token systems. I don't see keeping track of what's out there as particularly daunting either. I have a harder time remembering which alts got which drops and where my salvage and recipes are, than keeping track of who has how many tokens.

You included the Incarnates stuff for crafting, but left out salvages (regular and halloween)? They're tradable even. But then again, if tradable is a criteria, then even regular enhancements apply.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
There is a ridiculous amount of currency in the game, it's true.

I started to put this guide together...
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/How_To_Get_Stuff
but I ran out of steam by the time I finished inspirations. It's still on my to do list. Personally, I ran out of brain space when the empyrean thread whatever came along. It's funny. I was totally on top of the market. I mastered inventions with no trouble at all. The various kinds of merits struck me as silly, but I could handle it. I studied the Incarnate stuff when it first came out, and quickly got myself a nice Alpha thingy. Then they made more Incarnate stuff, and something in my brain just snapped. Now I know how the camel felt. I haven't played any of the Incarnate content since they added threads. It's just too much for me. If I play that content, I might get a thread, or some kind of new merit thingy, and I won't know what to do with it. Or even worse, I might get a choice of rewards, and I won't know which one to take. Caught between my fear of making a mistake, and my inability to figure out how to avoid a mistake, I'm paralyzed. I've only played low level characters since those new thingies came out, and even those not very often.
I realize it's dumb. On the other hand, it's a pretty common phenomenon in the real world. I'd like to think that if this actually mattered, I'd find a way to get over it, but since it's just a game... oh well. There are still story arcs in Ouroboros with no star beside them, so I've got fun things to do. I was hoping that maybe someday I'd catch up and master the intricacies of an increasingly complex game, but apparently I'm just going to fall farther and farther behind. With a full time job, an evening master's degree program, wife, kids, and trying to keep the house from falling over, I just don't have any more brainspace for this game, and what I've allocated in the past is apparently no longer enough.

I like Chaos' spreadsheet.
One thing I thought of that's not on it right now is using tickets to create invention salvage. That seems potentially worthwhile to mention, since both things are on the table, and as far as I know, it's actually a moderately common activity.

The sheer amount of currency alone makes me reluctant to play the game and now I see that they are adding more. Anyone have a breakdown of the different types of currency/rewards for myself and possibly new players?

Paragon Points are not in game currency like Merits, Inf, etc.

Left out the 2 ? new ones Points and Vet Tokens ?
Just a guess seeing as the installer license agreement specifically mentions it, NcCoin may be in there somewhere as well
They're also going to be global currency, not character-based like everything on that list.

Vet tokens are (Paragon rewards) what the current vet reward system is becoming.
paragon Points are the buy-for-real-money points used for the game store (costume pieces, etc)

First, thanks Chaos!
Second, I am thinking of currency as anything you can exchange for rewards. Like the paragon points, something else, and the new coming vouchers.
In time, I'll come to forgive you.

If you are going to call Vouchers and certs currency, then so are recipes and salvage, really.
There will be but the currency itself won't be obtainable in game - and represents (directly) real-world cash. So I find it bad to call currency compared even to the various merits and such.

I do not think Notices belong, but if they do, then so do the other Alpha slot components that TFs drop and the components that drop in the trials (or can be crafted with threads). It might be best just to have a category called Incarnate Components which would include Notices, the Alpha components, and the trial components.

I get the impression that some people would starve to death if they had to rely on an occupation in international banking since, after being fired, they wouldn't be able to handle a bartering system, either.
