Quote:See, that's NOT a good analogy, because that's not what's going on.One day you go into a shop a buy a TV that you have been saving up for months, then the customer behind you is told they can order the same TV next week for a tenth of the price, do you feel ripped off?
What's actually happening is that you bought the TV on a payment plan and have been paying it off for a while, then while you're in the store making a payment (sure, why not? >_>), the next person in line is buying the same TV you've had for the last few years at a third (not a tenth) of the price you've been paying. Oh, and your remaining balance to pay off the TV gets cut to 1/3 of what it was as well.
What you've done boils down to paying an early adopter fee. You got to enjoy the product for longer, but ended up paying more as a result.
And let's face it... this TV is pretty kick-***.
EDIT: Hrm, think I got some wires crossed and thought this argument was about the difference between pre- and post-Freedom players, largely because it doesn't make sense as part of the discussion that it spawned from. So, neeeevermind. >_> -
Indeed! I was kinda hoping they might put the other melee power sets on sale and/or the Imperial Dynasty costume set, but I'm having trouble finding a reason to complain about the sales they did give us.

Tuesday again, time for another edition of NEW STUFFS DAY!
Today we've got the highly-anticipated release of the Staff Fighting Power Set for 800 Paragon Points! Bring stick-spinning justice to evil-doers (or for the purposes of wickedness, if that's your thing) with the new melee power set available as a primary set for Brutes, Scrappers and Stalkers or as a secondary power set for Tankers. Use Staff Mastery* to focus different energies through your weapon, choosing to increase the damage, reduce the endurance costs or lower the recharge times of your attacks as fits the situation!
* Note that Stalkers do not get the option to change Staff Mastery "forms," and will instead be locked into the Form of the Body for bonus damage purposes and have access to Build Up.
The Martial Arts costume piece bundle also makes a triumphant return to the store with a standard costume bundle price of 400 PP, but is on sale for 300 PP this week. (Only the bundle itself is new to the store; the individual Martial Arts costume pieces have been available in the market since Freedom launched this past September.)
For sales this week, we've got a bunch of melee damage Store Bought Enhancements for 50 (yes, FIFTY!) percent off, including Mako's Bite, Kinetic Combat, etc., and defense-related Store Bought Enhancements for 25% off. Ninja Run is also 25% off, and extra Character Slots are on sale again this week for 25% off as well.
I'm not completely certain, but I think they either added a couple Defensive sets to the market (namely Kismet and Gift of the Ancients) or I missed them in an earlier update. OP and spreadsheet have been updated regardless... I just wish I had time to play my new Staff/Stone Brute a bit before bed! x_x -
T-minus 3 hours until STAFF FIGHTING!

Quote:It's a video game. There is always a large subsection of a playerbase for any game are little more than whiny man-children. (Heck, even I've done it a couple times over this game... GRRRRR DAY JOBS!)and I thought players from another popular MMO were childish.
It's also part of being a fan of something. You'll always encounter other fans who just take things to extremes and regard every decision they don't agree with as a sign that an apocalypse is coming to destroy everything they love. -
Quote:AND Praetorian Infernal.
I'd still like to see him pop up, if only so I don't have to re-write my main Praetorian's background story. >_> -
That would be a comment for the beta boards, not a discussion thread on the live boards. Do keep in mind that we're still on the first beta build for i23, and that there's been some really promising feedback and suggestions so far.

Just to be snarky since Snow Globe upstaged me so completely... he forgot the following emotes:
/e StanceHero1
/e StanceHero2
/e StanceVillain1
/e StanceVillain2
EDIT: Actually, nevermind. He just didn't list them individually and had them lumped in with the costume pieces. Humph. Snowy wins again. -
Yep. Just keep in mind that Masterminds and Controllers aren't permanently unlocked by having a Going Rogue code, so even though you'll always have the Demon Summoning power set unlocked for the Mastermind AT, you might not always be able to use it as a Premium player. (Electric Control, at least, can be used by Dominators.)
But you'll have full access to the level 1-20 Praetorian content, the alignment system, all the costume options (Clockwork, Resistance, Praetorian Police, PLUS Alpha and Omega if you got the GR: Complete Collection)... and you'll never have to pay another cent to access it if you don't want to. -
The zones you should be targetting for 20-30 content blueside are Talos Island and Independence Port. (You'll find more players and better teaming opportunities in Talos, as well as better access to amenities such as stores and travel.) Redside, you should be hanging out on Sharkhead Island.
Popular activities in that level range include the new Drowning in Blood Trial (available to both heroes and villains, just like DfB), the Admiral Sutter Task Force (20-40), Sister Psyche Task Force (20-25) and Citadel Task Force (25-30) for heroes and the Mortimer Kal Strike Force (20-40), Silver Mantis Strike Force (20-25) and Operative Renault Strike Force (25-30) for villains.
I'm not going to tell you what you should and shouldn't do (other than you should do whatever you find the most fun), but running Death from Below repeatedly until you hit level 20 does not give you a realistic representation of the game as a whole, especially since it limits you to the powers you gain before level 10 at best. As you progress, you'll find that enemies have different strengths and weaknesses, and you're just getting to the point where new enemies will have the ability to use mez and debuff powers on your characters. Your play style will have to evolve as you progress through the content, and you might have some catching up to do if all you've ever done is fight Hellions, Vahzilok and Lost so far. -
For some reason I just know I'm gonna get laughed at for asking this, but...
Z, what do you have 2 mice for? -
Quote:Which I find odd, since not much more than a hundred years ago it was widely believed in Japan that if you kept and properly cared for an umbrella long enough, it would become a helpful ghost that would watch over your family. The American 'dolls' are probably leading the way in what they are doing. But it's the Japanese who are not only a world leader in robotics but they already have cultural leanings towards accepting artificial/inanimate objects as things that humans can acceptably "interact" with.
Then again, I was just discussing with my roommate a couple hours ago how they went from third-world to first-world nation over the course of World War II, so it's pretty obvious that they can adapt to technology. -
Generally you're not supposed to post "polls" on the forums, but all you're really doing is asking people's opinions on what they like, so I don't think you'll get in any trouble.
Personally, I like the Katie Hannon TF, Apex TF and Imperious TF the best, with the Mortimer Kal SF being my favorite redside-specific one.
As far as iTrials go, I'm weird in that I think I like the Keyes Trial the best (as long as we're not doing a badge run), and probably Lambda second best.
FYI, the order the story takes for Incarnate content is: Apex TF -> Tin Mage TF -> BAF/Lambda -> Keyes -> Underground -> TPN -> Minds of Mayhem -> Dilemma Diabolique. (Then, obviously, the new Magisterium trial coming in Issue 23, which ends the Emperor Cole story arc.) -

Because obviously the guy who names badges and the guy who codes powers are the perfect candidates for fixing a bug in the veteran reward system.

Quote:No, the ones that are on sale the +25% boosters. The only new stuff that made it into the store last night at midnight are the new Travel SBEs.The XP boosters listed here are the x2 variety for N hours?
What are the 25% boosters called? I thought they were just called XP boosters as well.
The ones on beta (that are NOT on live as of the time I write this) are called "Double XP Boosters" and have associated time limits.

Quote:I honestly think that's your imagination dude. Since we've never gotten a letter like the one in March before, I hardly think that can be considered a standard.A monthly directional/informational letter from you like March would really go a long way in dealing with the communication gap that is growing between the devs and the wider playing base.
Also, you know better than to post in dead threads. -

Tuesday again... that means it's NEW STUFFS DAY!
This week, we get some new Store-Bought Travel Enhancements: Freebird, Celerity and Blessing of the Zephyr (all of which are 25% until next Monday night).
Quite a few sales this week, too!
Character Slots are on sale for 50% off, as are the LKT-1700 Rocket Pack temporary jetpack power, the Warwolf Whistle temp power and the 5 packs of Dual Inspirations (Protected, Precise and Invigorate).
We've got Respec Tokens and Server Transfer Tokens for 25% off, along with Enhancement Unslotters, XP Boosters and the aforementioned newly-added Travel Enhancements.
The spreadsheet and OP are up to date with the current info, though there might be new additions or changes made by tomorrow afternoon, as happened with the last two weeks. -
Quote:I still hold that they'll be on sale either as part of an anniversary special or a later Black Friday or "winter holiday" special. But no, they're not going to go on sale willy-nilly (though I was really surprised when Character Slots were on sale a couple weeks ago... yet sadly I forgot to actually purchase them).I expect extra Storage to go on sale the day they pull the plug on the game.
Anyway, best bets for 2 hours from now are either the new Double XP boosters or the Panther Transformation. Still personally expecting Staff to be the last week of the month, to hit close to the anniversary. -
Don't count your guess out just yet; you may actually be right before too long. Having read the teaser blurb for SSA2, apparently the villain-side missions have you working with a villain group gunning to rival Arachnos' power.
