  2. I'd say that a strong and happy community is a better business decision than exclusive rewards, but honestly, you are not someone I'm going to argue with when it comes to making money. I've seen your posts in the Market forums.

But I'd also agree that they should probably sell any former T9 VIP costume items at a higher price than standard costume sets, perhaps even double or triple. That keeps up an illusion of exclusivity, if nothing else.
  3. The store on the Test Server is down, yes. Nothing you can do but wait for the devs to get back into the office on Monday to reboot it.
  4. I really think we could really use a Science/Mutant themed set. I pitched one to Synapse a few months back that I called "Abomination Summoning" and he thought it sounded interesting.

Not that I ever expect to see it, but the gist is that the creatures you summon are laboratory test subjects/accidents. I figured the low tier pets would be similar to the Praetorian Ghouls, but I can't really remember what I'd suggested for the other two pets.

*shrug* It works just fine for me.

But again, that's just me. I am not the alpha and the omega of the CoH customer base.

Meh. Tier 9 VIP players have exclusive access to these new costume sets at least 6 months (probably more like 9-12 months) before they make them available outside of the Paragon Rewards program.

VIPs have the option of spending Reward Tokens on them, for which there are far fewer alternatives than if one were to buy a costume set with Paragon Points. There are literally over 1000 items in the store right now vying for your points, versus 6 T9VIP one-shots and 6 T9 repeatables.

It really boils down to what each individual player wants to do. I think the entitlement issues will dissipate rather quickly once they tell us exactly how one will be able to access the Celestial Armor set outside of T9VIP. Those that hate that they had to spend tokens that could have otherwise been spent will stop doing so with the knowledge that they can get those same costume parts in the future through an alternate path. Those that can't afford to bump up their account to T9VIP will get the shiny costume set that they want, but only after waiting and seeing all the VIPs playing with it first.

And the players who want these things to remain Tier 9 VIP forever and ever with no alternate method of access? They can go spin on it, because that's not what's best for the game or the community as a whole.

Just shoot them an email from the account your CoH account is tied to, let them know your current chat handle and give them three ranked options for what you'd like them to change it to.

No, they're not going to raise the level cap beyond 50. Ever.

Hence the Incarnate system--level shifts that raise your effective combat ranking during certain content. Outside of that content, you have access to nifty new abilities, but you're still considered level 50 (or 50+1 at the most) for the purposes of all gear collection and combat in regular missions.

Also: this isn't really a lore question, it's a game mechanics question.
  10. All the teeshirt options for males are skin tight and tucked in. I'd like to see baggier, untucked tee shirts that hang down below the waist line.

Some more regular street shoes would be nice as well. I like the current sneakers just fine, but I'm not so much a fan of the knee socks that are constantly attached to them, and it'd be neat to get some new alternatives.

An 80s rat tail hair style would be amazing as well. (Yes, I'm serious. No, I'm not holding my breath.)

I got the image above from Google, and I'm kinda wondering if that kid in the picture might actually be me...

It scales with the size of your team (or rather, the group surrounding you), just like the Halloween zombie attacks. We didn't get bosses until we added our 4th or 5th person to the team.

As far as I can remember, Level Pacts lowered each person's XP gain by 50%. This raises both people's XP gain by 50%. It's an ANTI-Level Pact!

That, and your XP gain isn't tied together in any way shape or form.

The individual Mission Transport Power that's on sale for 450 PP has a two hour cool down. (It's the one that was originally packaged with the Mac/Valkyrie Pack back before Freedom launched.)

The new Team Transport Power that was added today has a 30 minute cool down.
  15. It's Tuesday again. By the way, in case anyone missed Alpha Wolf's post yesterday, the new update schedule is Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM PDT, rather than midnight as has been running previously. But I digress... NEW STUFFS DAY!

Today's new release is the Team Transport Power for 700 Paragon Points. The Team Transport Power summons a vehicle to take the caster and any nearby teammates to the active mission door and can be used once ever 30 minutes. The vehicle will be a Longbow Chaser if you are a Hero or Vigilante (or currently in Paragon City) and will be an Arachnos Flyer if you are a Villain or Rogue (or currently in the Rogue Isles). Seems like it'd be pretty darn handy on those long Shadow Shard TFs!

    This week's sales:
    • Mission Transporter Power for 25% off (450PP)
      • This is the version that originally came bundled in the Mac/Valkyrie Pack and has a two hour recharge
    • BUNDLE: Valkyrie Costume Pieces for 25% off (300PP, only the bundle is on sale)
    • Street Justice Power Set for 25% off (600PP)

Looks like my second account is getting Street Justice this week!

Will get started on updating the spreadsheet and OP, but I need to take about an hour break here in a few so I'll finish it as soon as I'm able.

I did too, I really did. Problem is, I liked it too much and stayed up until 4 or 5:00 AM Eastern updating my spreadsheet.

There's a not-insignificant part of the playerbase for whom this change sucks, but honestly as much as I truly liked the 3:00 AM surprise, it's really better for me this way. AND it's better for poor Black Pebble, who's the first one in every morning yet (I assume) had to be there at midnight for the updates.

Like I said, it was mostly the fear-mongering and spreading of incomplete information as if it were already set in stone. Because the first part is ridiculous and the second part is foolish.

But now that I've had a crappy day and a few drinks in me (which, if you know me at all, you'll know is highly irregular bordering on sign-of-the-apocalypse), I can say with pancakish confidence: it sounds like procs needed a PVP nerf for a while. If they're being heavily used specifically to get around damage caps the way you guys are saying, then it sounds like the exploit of a loophole in the system and you're just begging to be grandfathered in because they're only now trying to untangle that loop.

But rest assured, I've said my peace and am no longer visiting this thread, so you can all roll your eyes at this post and ignore it. I'm too out of alcohol to give any more damn.

The thread is in the Developer's Corner, not the Beta forums, and is therefore accessible to anyone whether subscribed or not, and at 23K+ views I'd hardly call that a thread with barely anyone reading it.

I would have never picked up on this change to procs if it wasn't for the pvp section of the forums.
The reason I posted here to begin with is that you're spreading incomplete information outside of the thread specifically meant to discuss it. Again, the changes in the thread aren't being tested yet and likely won't be until at least June, and Synapse has shown dozens of times already that he's willing to listen to players, whereas Castle was more of a "let's do things my way and then we'll tweak it from there" kind of developer.

It's perfectly fine that Sentry came and posted pertinent information here, but it's turned into a discussion thread when it should have been a "Hey guys, come to this official thread and let your voices be heard" message.

The thread is also titled specifically to fear-monger. It is NOT a global damage nerf. Players that don't use Procs aren't going to see any difference in their damage output, and Synapse has already said that some of the lower activation rate (10-15%) procs are going to be brought up in line with existing procs and that he foresees procs across the board firing off more often after he's done than they do currently... even if that means that high-end builds might not get as much benefit from the change as a lower-end build might.
  20. You mean I no longer have to stay up until 3:00 AM to see the new shinies (and much later updating the link in my signature)?

    My sleep schedule thanks you tremendously. ;_;

Amplifiers are a new thing being tested in beta currently that act similarly to dual inspirations, but are long-term buffs (1, 4 and 8 hours respectively). Think of the microtransaction "potions" from other F2P games.

If they manage to keep the sales cost down and focus instead on high sales volume, I think Amplifiers will basically let them print their own money.

I really dislike the idea of selling base items in the market unless it's just a one-time fee to access things indefinitely.

Otherwise you're going to end up with ownership disputes... Who owns the snazzy 40PP arcade machine that Jim Bob the base architect added to the base, Jim Bob or the group's Super Leader?

I did not, but now I wish I did. That's a damn good suggestion.

At least we know a global Midnighter Club unlock has already been talked about, and that at least its being made easier to achieve on a per-character basis in Issue 23.

Nobody needs anything here. This is a video game after all.

But it would be nice to know at least a few days in advance. Some people have limited play time and need to set up advance schedules to do these things.

(Not that I'm personally one of them... I've probably put in nearly 200 hours of Staff Fighting badassness over the last two weeks. )
  25. So... you're making a new thread to complain about something that isn't even being beta tested yet and already has an official discussion thread?

Clearly this must be the best way to communicate your displeasure to the developers.
