  1. Arbiter Sands - ever since I have first saw him in Faultline he was my favorite bad boy.

And Malaise if he wasn't dead (or is he?), but first I would have to burn his ugly costume.
  2. CatAstrophy

    Other MMOs?

One important thing about LOTRO - don't jump of cliffs, it can kill you
To used to SJ in COH and I found that out hard way.

Game is completely different then COH, but if you like Tolkin's books you can enjoy it. Travel is slow, even if you get mount, but there are some really beautiful areas in game, that can make you forget about slowness.

Defiant still have mostly European community, so midnight Pacific time is our early morning (when majority is sleeping or going to work).

But number of people that play have dropped a lot. Regular teaming group still happen, but pugs are rare now.

Image that closing of CoH never happened.

I would like to get GW2 because I liked stories in GW and want to see how it continues.
GW2 judging by images is one of the best looking MMO's out there.
Just one time payment (although that is double edged blade - GW was the same, but there were almost no new content after they have decided to make GW2 - so nothing new for 4 years).

Crafting - can do with or without it.

    Bad things:
Jumping platforms - I don't do that - ever. Would have to skip that part, and I don't like skipping things in game.
Game is still heavy with PVP (as GW) and I'm not interested in PVP.
It is new game, which mean there are still lot of people there that are just following trends, and will move when next new thing is out.
Also no need for credit card means there will be much more kids. I don't mind kids in games (some people saying that games are for kids ), but I prefer to play with people closer to my age.
No monk in GW2 (my favorite classes in GW were Elementalist and Monk)

All this that is happening in the way helped me to decide against. Without it I would have to make hard decision to buy or not to buy and look and all pros and cons more closely.

If I stopped gaming entirely, then that's just one person's revenue they will no longer have. But if I support their direct competitors, then I magically acquire the financial impact of two people : the one whose revenue they have lost, and the one who's now strengthening their opposition.

The way to send a message to a company like NCSoft is to use the only language they seem to understand - that of profit and loss. In shutting down CoH they will have lost me and brought profit to their competitors.
    This.
The company lost my trust, so I'll give my money to their competitors.

Game needed better marketing. Although there are more and more people that are shopping online now, there are still people that like to have CD (DVD), and there were no box editions in Europe since GvE.
If I haven't found try out CD for CoH by accident, I wouldn't be playing it at all.
I can still find WoW CDs in every game shop (8 years old), I can still find Guild Wars CDs in every game shop (7 years old), but I couldn't find CoH CDs in any store 4 years ago, when game was just 4 years old.

There are lot of reasons people quit playing, but without good marketing new people can't find game and there is not enough fresh blood to cover for loses.
  8. I have expected them to do well. But the game is still new and we will see how it will mature.

Personally, I don't want to give my money to NCsoft while they have this management. If their management change in future, I might give it the try, but for now, I will spend my money on non-NCsoft games (and since I have played only GW1 and CoH so far - there are lot of games out there to test).

It's where ALL crafting materials go. All of them. You can have a stack of up to 250 of each item.

But that is not new. That existed in GW1.

Guild Wars are the first MMO that I have played, and I have like it. Thing is that if you are not into PVP once that you finish all quests/missions there were not much to do. And I did that. Finished everything solo, finished everything in groups, made character on every possible class got bored and went to find new game after just 1 year of playing. (I even did some PvP - and enjoyed Halloween event costume brawl). New game that I have found was CoH. Never got bored and never left.
I am currently mad at NCsoft, so won't be buying GW2 soon, but if game survive test of time I might give it a try in 2-3 years (but only if it is possible to skip jumping platforms part). I have never joined game right at the start anyway (GW were 3 years old and CoH 4 years old - next one I am thinking of joining is 5 years old ).
  10. Made Nature/water defender, same as on beta. So far it does good both solo and in team. Planing to make controller also, but not sure what primary - plant, earth or maybe even fire.
  11. Only thing that make Citadel more bearable then Synapse is that it can be done in less then 1h - and Council is easier then Clockworks. I still do these TFs only once on each alt (with more then 50 alts that means I have done each one of them at leas 50 times ).
Even with revamp of Posi and Penni TF, I still find SF to be more fun. I have come in game after Good vs. Evil, so I have missed some things, unfortunately haven't missed old Posi without stamina, and I don't know from personal experience how was the game before that, but I have always thought that Villain side is much more interesting then Hero side. Unfortunately finding team on Villain side is very hard (even on populated servers) so I also have more alts as Heroes (often Vigilante so I could do at least SFs when someone is forming them). If I have to choose to do Binder of Beast or Synapse (both 15-20), I would rather do Binder 10x then Synapse once.
  12. DFB is easiest way to skip street hunts in Atlas and go for radios in kings or hollows (new missions are also street hunts mostly ).

I don't have problem with patches in Apex, but swords can hurt a lot. Soft-caped alts can avoid swords, but not my every alt is soft-caped and tanks are usually occupied with BM - so swords go to nearby squishies.
  13. My SR/staff tank is softcaped to all positions on level 42 with just SO's (never put IO's before 50). Just needed Maneuvers and CJ for that.
Even Ice tank can be softcaped with just SO's.

Not sure what secondary would be the best. For Ancillary I usually go for energy - since it has powers that help with endurance.
  14. CatAstrophy

    SS/Regen

Mine just reached 32. Now just two more levels so I can slot foot stomp. :P
  15. You have to do someone else rogue tip to get it.
  16. Efficiency Expert is not that hard (at least on -1/0 with incarnate alt). I was mostly afraid not to lose connection while doing it.

Getting day jobs badges might take some time, if you haven't filled the line while Vigilante.

For ouro mission there are nice guides for both blue and red side in player guide question, I did all but 40-44 on blue side then did the last one on red.

For getting heroes badges in RV, you might need at least 1 or 2 more people and some heroes, like Synapse, just don't want to play. (Might be hard if there is PvP on your server).

You need to stay full villain just for one week - all villain badges are accessible with Rogue, and you'll have access to blue side again.
  17. I did exactly that - removed everything ATI related, then run Driver Sweeper in Windows Safe Mode. Followed instructions from forum, and took recommended version of Legacy Drivers from here also. Haven't counted of Font problem on the way.

And yes, my computer is set to DD/MM/YYYY (non US).
  18. My system basic information:
Operating System: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
    Central Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
    Memory:2046MB
    DirectX: DirectX 9.0c
Video Device Name: Radeon X1600/1650 Series
Manufacturer / Chip:ATI Technologies Inc. / ATI Radeon Graphics Processor
    Video Memory: 512.0 MB
    Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6925
    Driver Date: 1.1.0001 0:00:00
    Driver Language: English

Think that I have lost font while uninstalling old catalyst and graphic drivers (and some other programs that came from graphic card instal disc and I haven't found any use for them). It have happened to me once before that when I have deleted some program at work, using add/remove, that one of the fonts (think Ariel) got to True Type instead of Open Type (Windows xp also, but different system).
  19. Finally got over 1300 on main. Still lot of work to be done and I am behind on vet badges (around 4 years).
  20. I have already solved problem myself, but just to leave info if someone else might get problem like that.

Did some graphic drivers updating today and when I finish it everything was working fine, but couldn't get NCSoft Launcher to work. It would appear in Task Manager for few second and then disappear.

Tried every option I could find on forum, on NC support page or on other NCSoft games pages and nothing work (reinstaling .Net, turning off all programs in startup including AV, installing MSXML 6.0...).

When I read logs I saw some message that keep repeating

    "Exception Information Details:
    ======================================
    Exception Type: System.ArgumentException
Message: Font 'Verdana' does not support style 'Regular'"

So I have decided to check font and I did had True Type Verdana. Just to be sure I have removed it and added Verdana that came with Launcher. It was Open Type Verdana and my Launcher started to work again after that.

So if you can't start Launcher, check for things like fonts also.
  21. EU codes are always easier to get. Still i don't use Tweeter and not planing to use it ever. At least on FB you get games, still haven't figured the use of Tweeter. (Got code without tweeter account, just following the link)

I preferred when codes were on forum. Not everyone use Tweeter or Facebook and unless you don't get payed from promoting these sites, there is no reason to force us to go there when we have nice forum here.
  22. I have that kind of crashing also. Can do one or two trials and then restart game so I wouldn't crash. It rarely happens in the older part of game, only if I have been playing for hours without exiting.
I always thought it is connected with memory - since when I look in task manager game have usually used more then 1,5 GB of memory (out of my 2GB).

Going to monitor this post in case you find solution.
  23. For Perfect Grifter any option in second part work. It is just important to do first part right.
I was choosing second option (Crime and Punishment) and we got badge.
  24. Had that bug twice. First time I was locked in office, cause no one had TP and I don't have self destruct. Second time friend tp me to them (others used self destruct again).
