With the the thesis that patience is the ultimate virtue in the market because if you wait long enough someone will make a horrible error in your favor ?
You get stupid. -
Costco had piles of them laying around for $20 a pop yesterday.
I walked on past, and it wasn't that hard.
The author's cavalier attitude towards meeting deadlines has turned me off. I can give my money to other, just as competent, authors, who know episodic fiction has to occur on a regular basis.
Or who care.
Funny how fast he managed to finish this once HBO started breathing down his neck, wasn't it? -
Late to the party as usual, but:
#1: Horror of War, and the fate of Sefu Tendaji. The Sword Gets Things Done. /em salute
#2: The Vahzilok Plague. The story (and AV) so good it got co-opted into the remade Posi's Task Force. Dr. V tops every Mad Scientist the Rogue Isles can churn out, because he's gone so far into 'mad' that he's coming back around into 'sane'. Vernon and Buzzsaw are amusing, but the Doctor is just flat-out scary.
#3: Westin Phipps: frikkin' anything. That magnificent bastage. Who else inspires more arcs about beating the crud out of him?. I hereby posit to you that Westin Phipps is the evil ****** Batman of the Rogue Isles and if it ever came to a fight between him and Recluse, he'd win.
I'm going to stop with my top three, but there's plenty of other greatness, mostly already mentioned. I'll be glad when this incarnate nonsense finally starts dying down and we can get back to more great stories like these. -
Quote:Ah, something for non-forum-readers and noobs then. OK, that's fair. But I'd still put more emphasis on getting the info on globals out to those folks than stuffing them into a randomized team generator.I think you're missing my point. Globals being the best way to form teams IS a problem. The problem with globals is that they are not inclusive. You have to go out and find them which generally means asking someone who already knows which ones are good for your server. This isn't a particularly good method of helping a new player find teams.
The trial queue was an attempt to circumvent this by allowing people to easily form and join teams without needing to belong to global channels.
I would find the ability to click on an info terminal and get a list of global channels on your server far more useful than the queue. Maybe even ranked by number of members, so you can see which ones are crowded. -
Quote:That's because globals ARE the best way to form teams. Have been for years now. That's my point.I disagree. It was an attempt to solve (or at least mitigate) some of the issues associated with teaming in CoH. Specifically the problems that there are, in general, not enough people willing to form teams and that Global Channels are currently regarded as the best way to form teams (which is a bit of a problem problem since finding good global channels is not something that is intuitive).
I agree that it, mostly, failed but I think the goal was a good one.
Who needs a queue when you've got globals, or heck, even broadcast, for putting together a team? Nobody. It was a solution to an imaginary problem. -
Quote:Really? My experience is the opposite. Tip missions for me are like missions pulled at random out of an AE arc. Somewhere, I know, there's a complete story written about Silent Blade or whats-her-name, the cold chick, but I never get to see more than chance glimpses of it. And like most AE arcs, they story is focused on some uninteresting second-stringer whom I could not care less about. So I've never made any effort to follow up on them.I agree, the writing on the ones I've seen is usually head and shoulders above the older stuff. I'd really like to see them get a chance to re-do the others.
I'm glad someone likes them, but to me they're what we get now when the devs can't manage to put together a real story arc. -
The Queue was a solution to a problem that didn't exist.
So no one should be shocked that it isn't being used. -
So, this thread is all about Mids being proliferated to Mac OS, right? Right?
<.<
I love running CoH on my new Mac, but dang I miss Mids. -
Quote:Part of the reason I posted this, other than its awesomeness, was to tap the group mind and name them all.Is it sad that I don't know who the majority of these characters are? (In either form; Futurama version or the marvel character they're supposed to be portraying.)
I'll start:
From the bottom, left to right:
Zoidberg as Wolverine
Amy as Pyslocke
Fry as Cyclops
Hypnotoad as Havok
The Professor as... the Professor (X)
and Nibbler as Lockheed -
You got your Futurama in my X-Men!
No, you got your X-Men in my Futurama!
Two great geek franchises that taste great together!
-
Unknown_User,
THANK YOU for reposting the info here. You are a hero's hero! -
Yay, even more content not designed for me!
Seriously, after a while you just have to laugh.
After a slightly longer while, you effin' quit.
-
So long as someone quotes it all here, that's fine.
/edit: FPARN? Really? I guess it was inevitable.
//chalks off another milestone -
Quote:Fortunately, I don't work hard. You don't just pull 400 million out of thin air. You take it from the hard-working casual player. So people who give away lots of inf are still ebil, because they have to be in order to be able to afford to give away said inf.

Paragon Reward Points? You know, I'd be a little worried about working for Paragon Studios. From month to month, you never know what currency your paycheck will be in. Quote:Not at all, everyone knows Paragon Studios pays it's developers in shiny beads. -
Wait, Slax had stuff? o.O
Pfft. I don't want stuff, I want the SlaxCave!
Also, Old Fat Wonder Woman beats the heck out of Zardoz any day.

(don't go, you magnificent bastidge!) -
Awww....
Just now saw this myself. Much care goes out to MSCats and sis. I've never been able to join too many of the Saturday TFs, but the few times I did were great.
You can always tell the good folks by their actions. You're doing the right thing here, MS, and we all support you in it. I lost my sister when she was 17, and even though that was years ago now, I've never stopped wishing I had more time with her. Stay strong for your sis, stay WITH her, and never stop fighting for her.

WAR HAWWWWWWK!!!
Welcome back, buddy! Didja bring Corp with you?
(This is Abe, by the way, from the so-old-it's-now-archeological Infinity board)
I'll look for you in game, but I don't have my new computer set up yet, and haven't had regular game access for a month now.
Hope to see you around this summer! -
Quote:Drake would certainly be my choice for Robin. He's the best fleshed out of all the johhny-come-latelys, and the one who's actually best at the job. I just want to see them pick somebody and run with him for a few years without needing a replacement.Um. Stay away from Tim Drake if you know what's good for you, sir.
But they're keeping Todd in this newfound continuity in addition to Robin? Grrrr! -
Meh.
If they're going to do a real 60s-style reboot instead of the half-arsed messing about they've been doing ever since the '86 Crisis then they need to chop out all the deadwood.
We don't need a half dozen shmoes running around in Robin tights. It's pretty clear that Grayson/Nightwing has enough of a hold on the B List to keep around, but everyone else needs to be on the chopping block. Pick one- Damien, Tim, Jason, who-the-heck-ever looks like they'll relate the best to 21st century sensibilities, and keep him as Robin; then axe the rest.
Retcon them all into Earth 23, Limbo, or wherever. We all know they'll be brought back eventually anyway, so just wipe the slate clean now and give everyone room to grow into the old familiar molds again. -
Quote:And also, "I am twelve years old". Realizing the lifespans of the Sontaran clone army is what creeped me out.Quote:
"I have gene-spliced myself for all nursing duties. I can produce magnificent quantities of lactic fluid!"
This, coupled with his warrior pride in being a nurse (expressed to the person best able to appreciate it, no less) gave the Sontaran the best death scene since Father Octavian, IMO. -
So,
My google-fu is weak. Is the poem that River recites an actual poem, or was it written for this episode? I can't find out one way or the other and my knowledge of the land of poetry ends soon after the limerick fence. -
I'm about to get a couple completely new servers worth of slots to play with, for free.
Why on earth would I spend money to get more slots, even at half price? -
Quote:You're the guy spamming "Say mah NAAAAAMMMME!" over and over again, aren't you? I was wondering who that was.No where does it say on in the Ustream T&Cs that chat and/or conduct needs to be a teen rating. Infact to buy a Ustream gold account you need to be over 18. I am an adult long past the age of 18 and following the rules of the site i do not need to moderate my chat. If you don't wanna see it don't go, not everything needs moderation just for the sake of it.
But I am guessing CoH with their moderation happy moderators (who ignore messages even tho they say they wont) will do everything they can to make the chat sterile and boring.
In any case all this event will do is take ppl of the live servers to go get a temp title (like it matters on test) and some costume codes everyone already has. Guess it's 3 hours that there will be little teaming being done. Another win for pointlessness.
