Quote:I honestly can't say that I give a crap about this, but then, I don't team up with people I don't already know. I suppose it could be a problem for people who team with strangers, but given the vast multitude of other pitfalls of teaming with strangers, what's one more?On the other hand, you'd have newbies switching to a set they have no idea how to use. Imagine what it would have been like with AE babies.

Oh, I'm sorry, were you looking for help? It looked to me like you were just implying absurd explanations for the fact that your pet-peeve bug hasn't been fixed yet, most likely - in the grand Internet tradition - by way of looking for a fight. My mistake!

Even better, I've got an ice cream scooper that I could use to build a space elevator and escape madness like this post! -

Oh, so would I, when we can actually do it. I'm looking forward to it a great deal (even if I am annoyed that they're charging me more U.S. dollars for a feature that should've been in City of Villains at launch). Until then, though, it's just hype, and hype isn't an accomplishment, any more than a trailer is a movie. That's all I was getting at there.

Quote:Well, that would definitely explain the unmistakable imprimatur of Sturgeon's Law on the whole affair. In case you didn't realize, the animations and facial textures are entirely player made (except for a couple default ones), along with most everything else in the game.
But yeah, given that, I can definitely see how it could be a great development tool for someone who knew what he (or she) was doing. In fact, with that in mind I'm slightly surprised that 2L hasn't become the Quake Engine of the MMO world - or maybe it has, I haven't been paying a lot of attention to who's developing what in that regard lately, other than to watch with bemusement as Jack Emmert sets out to make an MMO out of the license with the least MMO-appropriate premise I can think of off the top of my head. Watching the development of a game you know isn't going to work is a bit like watching a car accident in slow motion. -
Quote:Yes. This. I'd be up for that. It's not that I can't be bothered to start over, it's that I don't want to lose the characters' histories. Souvenirs, time-sensitive badges, and so forth.Obviously the solution is to have a trial or task/arc that results in your character getting the option to start over at level 1 as a new AT, while keeping your badges and accomplishments. Yes, you'd have a tiny bit of a boost over others who, say, don't have the Atlas accolade or whatever, but that's your reward for doing it in the first place.
I would happily reroll some of my characters, including level 50s, back to level 1 if I knew I could keep all my badges and costumes, while choosing new power sets. -
Quote:That reminds me, I saw a couple of them doing this the other day...I love all these little things they add in though. Lost taking naps and panhandling while idle,
... in a cave.
Seriously, it was Montague Castanella's "Investigate the Lost and Rikti's involvement" mission, the instance was one of those sandy caves that leads to a Rikti interior, and the random scattered Lost dudes in the tunnel were sitting around panhandling. Maybe they were just practicing, I dunno. -
This has gone in a very strange direction.

Quote:I do!I must admit there are times that the Devs work on things for which I care little (or nothing) - such as PVP. (Especially PVP. Mostly PVP.) But I don't begrudge them the time to work on it.
(N.B. This post was mainly so Memphis Bill doesn't think I'm getting soft in my old age.)

Isn't that - and I'm not being facetious here, honestly - what the Arena does? ISTR one of my villains meeting a friend's hero in the "cargo ship" map once via the Arena, long ago.

I dunno that including Going Rogue in that list of accomplishments necessarily works, since all that we've actually seen of it, last time I knew, was a press release, and hell, I can write a press release. I used to do it for a living, even!
That said, Captain Photon has always been slightly incomplete without Angstrom the Quantum Hound, so I say, Get to it! -
Quote:Mmmmmmaybe. Anyone who set out to do that would have an awful lot of work to do, though, just getting it presentable. I mean, unless they've done a huge overhaul to the engine since I stuck my head in a couple years ago, the character animations, facial models, etc. are deep, deep in the Uncanny Valley, and the game world in general looks like one of those NASA animations of what the Moonbase was supposed to look like circa 1975.Actually, I would say quite the opposite from a technological point of view. It's the ultimate online sandbox, and would definitely make an easy place to start developing your own MMO.

Oh good. Maybe they'll find a way to apply the camera shudder that the Kheldian form change inflicts on everyone in the vicinity to the entire game world all the time during the event, just so the ambience is correct.

Quote:I used to live in Oakland. Walking in San Francisco is so overrated. It's all foggy and cold and there are hippies everywhere. Stay in your hotel room and play computer games.I am hoping that this will be on for more than a week or two at the end of October- I'm going to San Francisco on the 28th and won't have access to a computer. Even if I did, why would I want to spend my trip hunched over the thing when I could be out walking the Golden Gate Bridge?

Quote:Based on the thread's subject line, it looks like the OP misconstrued i16's "you can change the colors of your powers" feature as "you can pick new power sets".It is not true, and therefore you cannot do it.
I have no idea from where you got that impression. Nothing like that has been even suggested by the Devs.
I have to admit, I've been against ever granting players the ability to do that, but since powerset proliferation I've had to reconsider, simply because there are now a number of my fairly-well-established characters who were created the way they are as compromises - because the power sets they really ought to have were not available for their ATs - and now they are and the characters are wrong but I couldn't possibly zero them out now and it's all just terribly annoying.
Maybe that's something there should be a trial for, like respecs used to be before they started just giving them out at random. -
That's not much of a joke. It doesn't even have an identifiable punch line and it's not funny at all.
That said, I do agree that those tunnels were a stupid place to put mission entrances. I've occasionally had missions that ended up down there at level 15, which is a treat when the tunnels themselves are narrower than random street mobs' aggro radius and the mobs down there are all in the early 20s.
