Quote:I suppose it depends on why you are farming. Personally, I never farm for inf - I've got enough already. I'm usually farming for xp for my alts. Ya the xp is less in AE, but it's so many enemies defeated with very little movement required, that it's just so convenient. I got an alt from level 1 to 37 in about 5 hours the other day, never leaving the AE building.Your build will work fine. I still don't understand the fascination with farming, though. You can get INF almost as fast by doing morality missions on non-farming characters, or just play the game and not worry about how fast you get INF. The only IOs that are out-of-reach for most people who don't farm or play the market are purple sets, and those aren't very good for many builds anyways.
Many people prefer Mu Mastery so they can have two AoEs from their epic pool: Electric Fences and Ball Lightning.
Additionally, the recipes you acquire with the tickets, can easily bankroll a new alt's starting funds. It's not a requirement for me, more of a side benefit - but for other's it is a nice inf boost to help their new 50 begin to io. -
Contest Closed. I'm reviewing the entries, and I'll announce a winner soon.
Thanks to all who entered! -

Cuz you know you wanna. >.>
Okay, so now I've got a SS/WP brute I've inherited. I've got a WP/WM tanker, which has ridiculous regen, a ton of hp(not capped but only about 300 hp away) and seems to stand up well in mobs of like 1 million enemies! I pretty much built him for +hp, and relied on RttC regen to keep him alive. He isn't def capped or anything, but his huge amount of hp, plus his regen seem to do the job in almost any situation. So I'm assuming this Brute should play mostly like that. Maybe not as durable, etc, but that's the feeling I am shooting for. I don't wanna be scared to jump into a mob of yellows without popping an inspiration, or something.
I've searched through a bunch of builds on this website and others, and although I've like parts of them, I didn't find one that I liked completely. So your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to make my brute for me!
I'm mainly looking for a tough to kill PvE toon, and possibly a decent farmer, whether in AE, or whatever.
The toon is level 50, and has access to his PPP's. Assume I've already got 5 lotg 7.5s laying around if needed, and a budget of 2 billion inf(over and above the lotg7.5s) for this toon.
Winning entry will receive 100 million inf to pay you for your time, and effort, since I'm like too busy and stuffs. >.> -

2 billion, and you can have it!

Have you tried logging in using Safe Mode only? This starts the game with the graphics on their minimum setting.
How is your video card drivers? Are they a year out of date? Or did you update recently? If they are old, try updating. If you just updated recently, maybe roll back to the previous driver version.
I'm sure some people with more technical know-how will have some better ideas, but it's a good place to start. -
Just out of curiousity, was the person that levelled, dead, when they levelled up? I notice my game sometimes crashes on the resurrection animation. Actually, the PeaceBringer resurrection animation is the one that causes mine to crash the most, but sometimes Rise of the Phoenix also gives me the "City of Heroes has stopped working" message, and I have to exit to desktop.

Well, don't I feel stupid. Ok...so on my dominator, I had my T3 Total Nerve Alpha slotted. I had a ton of shards, so decided to make my T4. I clicked on the T4, and it showed me what I needed. Oh...but waitasec...it needs two Nerve Radials? Hmm...ok, seems kinda weird...but that's what it says it needs to craft it. Weird they would leave out the Total's though. So I craft the two other nerve Radials. Then someone in a global channel says "Didn't you use the slider to see the other versions of the T4?"and I was like "What slider?"
!
@_@
/em facepalm
Oh well...at least I have three Nerve T3's on the same toon. >.> It just didn't seem very obvious on the default window scale that there was any other crafting variants for the T4 even available. Heck, I've got T3's slotted on about 9 toons now, and didn't even know about it. Anyone else have this problem? Not really much I can do about it now, but maybe having some text saying "scroll down to see all Paragon Version requirements"or something would help.
Hopefully this post helps someone else from making the same mistake I did. *sigh* -

Quote:I was the beneficiary of a 1.8 billion overbid once. I posted a screen of it. Had a Panacea : End/Heal for sale. Someone bid 2 billion, instead of 200 mill. lol. Either they typed an extra 0, or they confused it for the +hp/+end. I'm going with the latter, because since they were sitting at inf cap, they were probably planning on bidding 2 billion, just they chose the wrong io. Ironically, if the first case is true; if they were not sitting at inf cap, the bid wouldn't have gone through at all.I have never overbid.. YET lol but I am guilty of another classic screw up. After a successful TF I headed to the RWZ to sell off the enhancements I'd collected.. with every slot IO'd I really have no use for SOs. While there I usually just get rid of any unwanted or worthless recipes as well. Yes you have probably already guess I got carried away and sold off a PURPLE recipe I probably COULD have sold on the Black Market for 300-400 Million for ?? I can't even remember but a WHOLE LOT LESS!
Now on the other hand I have been the benefactor of a few bidding miscues... I forget what it was I was selling but it was a rare piece of salvage I was asking 1.5 Million for and instead someone obviously hit one too many zeros and I earned 15 million. -
Thanks for the replies! It's a lot clearer now! lol.
And I'm currently using my 48 inch Sharp Aquos as my monitor for CoH. Needless to say, I don't have Ultra Mode running. lol. But I am thinking of getting a smaller monitor and a higher end card to be able to play CoH with some more bells and whistles. lol.
So for Radeon I guess I would be looking for a 9800+ card, and nvidia anything with an
x60 or higher?
Edit:
Oh...I see there is some debate about this Radeon 9000 being better than the HD6770.
/Edit -
Is there an easier way to figure out which video card is better than another? I used to figure that ones with the higher numbers would be superior. You know like a 6780 would be better than a 5570 or something.
So CoH has minimum specs for a Radeon 8500.
The recommended specs are for a Radeon 9600.
Ok I get it...higher numbers.
I'm looking at a Gateway PC now with a Radeon HD6770, which is a 1 Gb GDDR5 card, which is supposedly a good card. So how come the smaller number? I have similar problems with nvidia. I have a 9600GT card now in my laptop, but supposedly the new ones are like 260 or 280s or some other small number? :-s
So I guess my questions are:
Will the HD6770 run CoH? and
What's the easy way to figure out which card is better by a casual glance?
Thanks! -
[QUOTE=Berzerker_NA;3545700]Alright I'm having a problem. My screenshots so far don't show the market window. Is there a trick to taking a screenshot that shows my market window? I've just been pushing the "Print Screen" button. I know other people take screenshots all the time that show all of the numbers and everything.

That lets you take a screenshot with your ui visible. Your screenshots will be in your city of heroes directory in a folder called Screenshots. -
Quote:http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ro+merit+rollsIn the first post of this thread I laid my rules out. I sell for 1 inf, and vendor junk. Avoiding crafting is part of the experiment, but your advice that the random-roll-craft-sell method would yield superior results is most likely accurate, though I don't think anyone has actually proven that statistically. At any rate your advice is good advice, it's just outside the parameters of this experiment.
Organica's 30 herit merit rolls in one month, crafted(mostly) yielded about 2.3 billion.
That is equivalent to 76.6 million per roll. Considering Organica was converting reward merits into hero merits, you could add another 600 million onto that total to reflect the 30 conversion fees of 20 million.
2.9 billion or so from 30 rolls is equivalent to 96.6 million inf per roll, over 30 days. Some of this is of course could change based on who was doing the posting, and their experience in listing items, etc. But it is a good set of data to analyze how profitable crafting recipes can be. -
Sure, if you want to compete with the other 300+ ppl who also have bids out on an item with 0 for sale. Might take a little while for that 2 billion bid to fill tho.
This item has been sold for 2.5 billion. -

Replace "boring" with "easy" and I agree.
I'm not sure how much excitement you want from crafting an enhancement in any case. Are flames supposed to shoot out from a magic cauldron as you add your deific weapon to your bubbling broth? :-s -
Quote:I have to question the motivation to get the a-merits in the first place then? If it is to make money, and it's 11 missions worth of time invested, what's the problem with another 5-10 minutes to get an even greater monetary reward?I think that making A-Merit random rolls and listing the results for 1 is a fair test of max return for minimal market interaction, given a decent sample size; getting the A-merits is a fixed amount of effort.
Personally - this to me is like making your own SG that you never intend to use, and saying you want to make lots of money, and farm with SG mode on to deliberately lessen your rewards.
I'm not saying the experiment for listing at 1 isn't interesting. If anything, it shows just how easy it is to make money in this game. I just don't see why someone would purposely not want to make even more money, for what could be considered trivial more time investment.
