Quote:I don't know. I think if he wanted this done right he would've done it himself. This way someone else gets smacked down if it goes wrong, and Thanos allowed the possibility for it to go wrong by sending lesser beings when really there's reason why he shouldn't have been able to swoop down there and take the Cube himself.I don't think it was a test. I think Thanos expected to win. It would be more in keeping with his core character if the smile he cracks at the end when he's told that to continue to throw himself at the humans "is to court death" implies that Earth actually became interesting to him at that moment, specifically because they have the potential to be huge agents of chaos and death under the right conditions.

I can see them waiting until the third Avengers film for the team to actually confront Thanos. It seemed to me like this first wave was merely an attempt to test Earth's defenses. The next move will be to wipe them out, which may involve Thanos sending Red Skull, who was similarly shunted out of space and time, to form the Masters of Evil and take on the Avengers. It's also possible that Thanos just wanted the Cosmic Cube back on Asgard because that's an enemy he knows and Thanos and the Masters of Evil could attack Asgard first and steal all the weapons in Odin's armory.

Perhaps Coulson's LMD will become Vision?

Aside from the unnecessary costume changes and the lack of Lizard's snout, it does look okay, but I'm still a little hesitant about it. I worry if they'll be able to balance the characterization and action as well as Raimi did.

Just got back from it. It was great. Know how I know it was great? Because the more I think about it, the more I realize how good it was. I'm seeing it at least one more time, though, to catch all the little lines and things that were blazing by so fast.

The lab coat makes The Lizard look a lot better, but they definitely needed to give him more of a pronounced snout, like a komodo dragon at least.
Still, I can't bring myself to feel too optimistic about this one, what with the aforementioned issues of The Lizard's look, the changes to Spider-Man's costume, and simply not having enough hype left for this movie after Avengers, Dark Knight Rises, and Prometheus. -
This one looks a lot better from that trailer. The first trailer made me think it'd be as hammed-up as the first one, but this last trailer makes it look pretty fun. Might have something to do with them actually casting action stars this time ...

Hmm one that pops out to me is during the Princes of Darkness arc of JSA when Power Girl taunts Mordru into fighting her in a purely physical contest, then when he drops the majority of his enchantments she immediately puts him through a building.
-
Is she running him through the walls? Flying him through? Punching him through several walls with one blow?
-
Why do they keep saying Chitauri? Was that what it said on a label or packaging I missed? o.O

They really need to stop with all of these. Everyone and their mother already knows it's coming out on May 4th. We don't need to see half the movie before then. Quit ******* with Whedon's work, marketing people!

I think we might underestimating Buffy's skill level. We're making the Batman-Superman comparison when really it's more like Batman-Deathstroke. At the end of the day, even though I would say Batman is all-around more skilled than Deathstroke, the skill level discrepancy isn't great enough that it prevents Deathstroke from overcoming it with his greater physical abilities.
-
I plan to see it this weekend. I thought it was coming out later in the year but at least I have some Whedon to tide me over until Avengers comes out.

Could've sworn Rick Jones had lifted it at some point too.

Has The Thing ever tried to pick up Mjolnir? You'd think he'd be able to.

In terms of physical ability, Buffy is probably right in there with the likes of Blade and Spider-Man. She's not only trained and had several years worth of experience, but her skill level is such that she's trained others as well. While Black Widow may resort to sniping, Buffy may resort to bazooka-ing (as in the case of the Judge). However, it's supposed to be a fight, so the physical power in combination with the skill means Buffy only needs one good shot to put Black Widow down and she's shown she is willing to take the punishment just to get that shot in.

Of course, in the spirit of one-upsmanship, Lucas would've built a Death Star.

Perhaps Thor will be unable to lift something (one of the crashed aircraft or the Helicarrier maybe?) and Hulk will assist. Hulk will claim, "Hulk strongest there is!" Then the post-credits scene will be Thor and Hulk arm-wrestling, maybe using Cap's shield as a kinetic-energy-neutral base or in space. Maybe on Titan, and that gets Thanos' attention!
Ahem, got carried away for a second. >.>
