Quote:Ah, that was from before my time then, I only started in Issue 3 with EU launch. Not quite.
The ability to buy them from contacts was added after complaints about having to get them from drops below the level of the store-contacts. At first you could only get them via drops below 30.
Consider me elightened -
I've got the Kismet +tohit in Weave on my Stone/Fire scranker.
That combined with Focused Accuracy means it takes a hell of a lot of -tohit to stop him burning things <grin>.
I could have put it in Rock Armour easily, since I'm a 'Granite is panic mode only' build, but Weave gets me the benefits in Granite too.
To be honest, just put it in a toggle you're going to be running constantly, like Weave, Rock Armour (if non-Granite), Maneuvers or Granite (if you can find the space). Anywhere you want to put it is fine, so long as you're happy with it
Constantly having to activate a power/toggle every 2 minutes to keep the buff running would be masssively annoying. -
Quote:Tufa's mine.Oh, that was a player!! I was wondering what that strange, hairy-looking blob was in the front-middle of the first screenie. Apparently, Tufa's best side is not from above.
Stone/Fire scranker, and as short as he could be, unless he decides that the situation warrants Granite 'panic mode'.
Rock Armour, Rooted and /em crouch is 'boulder mode' -

Quote:Not quite.Dual and Single Origin Enhancements used to have a sub-group called the "Power 10" that included commonly desired enhancements like Accuracy, Damage, Recharge, and Endurance reduction. Any enhancements outside of this group were unavailable for sale until higher levels-- for example, you could not buy level 25 Endurance Modification SOs.
The 'Power 10' were the only enhancements you could buy from stores. (by stores I mean buildings, not the 'contact stores' like Serafina in Brickstown)
For non 'Power 10' enhancements, you had to buy off contacts. That meant you had to find the contact that matched your origin (spare a moments thought for Science origin characters and all their Vahzilok missions), and run their missions until you opened their store.
You THEN had to pay inflated prices to the contact. That's right, the contact you'd done massive favours for, putting your skin in danger repeatedly would scalp you for it... They charged something like 50%+ more than the stores did. Hence my long standing habit of never EVER buying enhancements from contacts. I don't care if it's been fixed (in fact, I don't even know if it's been corrected, I rememerb seeing something about it mentioned), I'm never going to buy enhancements from a contact again.
I recall buying level 25 Magic origin Endurance Recovery Enhancements (before they were merged with Endurance Drain Enhancements into Endurace Modification) for a friend from a contact in Striga, as they didn't have a Magic Origin contact of the correct level range to provide the enhancements they needed...
On a similar note, there used to be an enhancement type purely for Cone Range Enhancement as I recall. That got merged into generic Range enhancements. -
Quote:Ah, OK.Yeah, I'd rather use my itrial salvage for those slots, but we'll see. ^_^
Sorry if any offence was derived from the question, but I've seen a lot of 'veteran' players who were unaware that you could make alpha boosts from trial drops (and even more tankers who didn't know anything about Bruising), so I tend to ask first and feel stupid later on that subject -
Minor threadjack, but I'm of the opinion that it's easier to end up not worrying about inf if you start off not worrying about inf.
You can still make a very effective toon using nothing but SO's.
The inf required to do that is frankly miniscule in the scale of things. Level up a toon, sell your salvage and recipe drops on the market (especially midlevel commons/uncommons), and I'd expect you to have no trouble affording the enhancements required to make an effective SO'd toon.
If you then decide you have to have all the shinies, then that's a different matter, but don't start off thinking that you HAVE to have the shinies or you'll be 'gimped'. The only 'gimped' things in the game are Dominatrix's minions...
</threadjack> -
Quote:You may well already know this, but I may as well check. No purple drops during my tip missions. Darn! No shards either.
I've only earned 3 shards since opening up my alpha slot, and I have Judgment and Interface slotted already.
Are you aware that you can make alpha boosts with Trial rewards? Scroll down in the recipe pane of the create tab of the incarnate window, and you'll see recipes using Biomorphic Goo's, Worn Spellbooks and so forth.
Unless of course, you're trying to be thematic and only make up your alpha boost with Shards and TF components, in which case, carry on -
Quote:Personally, I'd assume that the largest part of that is the sheer huge sloshing waves of inf that now exist in the game.Due to marketeering (buy recipes - craft - profit) I've made enough cash to have several multi billion builds, but I do miss the fun of seeing what you can do on next to nothing, it's just too much work to be fun nowadays, and flipping is a large part of that.
Back when the market came in, I considered 14 million to be a pretty damn huge bank balance on a toon. It was enough to fund SO's for several alts, be they mine or friends'.
14M nowadays is peanuts.
Anyway, the most amusing 'flipping' I remember seeing was the few days after the markets came in, when people were buying stacks of the extremely common types of base salvage for 1 inf and then immediately relisting them for 1 inf.
Badge monkeys.... the things they do for their fix never ceases to astound me
Anyway, congrats to the OP, and I have nothing else to add to the argument that's not already been said. -
Quote:The Obliteration Beam already has a visible timer in the trial UI window.Speaking of the beams (Disintegration and Obliteration), a VISIBLE and separate counter should be put in the info window for these so that players (if they are paying attention) move.
To make it more enjoyable, I'd personally drop it to one Cell per teminal and cut the number of terminals to 5 per reactor. The three reactors is the most tedious part of the trial to me.
However, at this point, I don't see any major changes being made to Keyes, so about the only tool they've got available to entice people into it is what they're doing. Up the rewards. -
Quote:Prices haven't spiked much on generics IME, but demand's definitely been up. (I still make my money mostly off generic IO's, force of habit mainly)I would guess this is not going to happen much. People who are happy to play without IO's probably don't have a lot of IO's to start with. And why would they bother selling them? If you aren't using IO's, then you have nothing much to buy. SO's are dirt cheap these days. Keep a few million inf to start off with, and your freemium characters will never find anything they can't buy.
Personally, I was surprised that generic IO prices didn't spike the way I'd been hoping, though I did manage to sell a bunch of stuff I hadn't wanted anyhow. I spent most of the weekend in the kitchen, and when I was in game I focused on xp (and did rather poorly there as well).
I've been listing a few times a day over the weekend, and it's not slowed down yet.
There were a few spikes on certain IO's, Resistance and Heals, IIRC, but they were small and short lived. Either that or I missed all the spikes through unlucky timing <shrug>.
I'm not going to complain. Through Generic sales, and mostly selling drops, I've made about a Billion this weekend. And that's far higher than normal for me. (by mostly, I mean that about 85% came from a couple of lucky purple drops, but I'll take it where I can find it)

Quote:The problem with that idea is that they're just retiring the creation of NEW trial accounts. With the free/premium/VIP setup coming in Freedom, there's nothing to stop one of those trial players coming back, firing up that old trial account and starting one of those characters up again. Now that Free Trials are done with, can we have the names on them released? There really is no point in locking names behind accounts that will never see the light of day again.
And before you try to say that all the names on all trial accounts are crappy names generated by RMT scammers, I hope you realize that you are lying to yourself. Tons of people try out the game on Trial Accounts and make characters with decent names. After Trial Accounts had their Global Names purged, when /getglobalname is used, you could see that there are some pretty great names locked behind Trial Accounts, and not just RMT Scammer names.
If these people aren't going to be using these, why can't you just release them? They never made it past level 14 and never belonged to a paying customer anyways!
Would deleting them wholesale because they're 'just a trial' be equitable?
Possibly more importantly, I can't see Paragon Studios shutting off a potential revenue stream when they're heading for a free/hybrid pay model. -
There's a potentially interesting wrinkle been thrown up by i21 Beta being on at the same time as DXP.
And I'm not talking about a proportion of the population being off on Beta rather than playing DXP.
I'm referring to the fact that unless you've got about 4 years of vet status behind you (as I understand it), then Free/Premium players don't get IO access at all in the current build, even generics.
So, if there are people looking at going free/premium and don't have the requisite veteran status, and aren't planning to buy the IO licences when i21 goes live, will they start offloading their IO's onto the markets? Or is that a complete random bit of speculation? And if they do offload, what would this do to prices between now and i21/Freedom launch?
The long term hardcore market goons aren't likely to be affected, as I suspect they'll mostly subscribe still, but this may mean a reduction in the market for IO's once it goes live.
Just something that occurred to me, that's all. -
Quote:Highest bid goes to lowest listed price. For example lvl 30 Recharge IO's were selling for 5million each there were 2 for sale, I listed 3 @ 2.5M(5 new total). I come back mine are still not sold but I see 5 new sales history for 5M each. Now I would think one of those sales would have to have been mine, since I am 50% of the going rate and mine would have been in before new crafters if it was using a FIFO method? ?
So all it takes is someone to list theirs for sale at 2,499,999 and they'd sell before yours to as long as nobody else has listed theirs any lower than that. -
Quote:It's easier than that.Theoretically speaking, although I haven't seen anyone specifically try this yet, the Obliteration Beam is on a timer, but Antimatter's freeze time is keyed (heh) to his health. So just like going for Strong and Pretty, it should be possible I assume to coordinate attacks against Antimatter so he crosses his regen thresholds far away from the times that the Obliteration Beam fires.
Antimatter always goes to the NW, then SE, then SW drawdown points to regen.
Have the tanker/brute/whoever's got aggro move antimatter as close as possible to the appropriate point, and his flight time to the regen point is short enough that you have to get *really* unlucky on the timing of the Obliteration Beam/Time Freeze to be unable to avoid the beam.
Having someone watch the timers and hit a 'STOP hitting AM, beam coming!' bind 4-5 seconds before the beam's due also helps to make sure people aren't rooted by animations when it comes time to move.
All that said, I still find Keyes to be annoying because of the sheer number of gimmicks they've got going on at once - three slightly different repetitions of shutting down the reactor, the antimatter pulse, hurting AM himself making life far harder, Obliteration beam, Time freeze, Entanglement, a level 54 Rad/Rad AV, AND trying to herd up to 24 people in the same direction....
(I've got MoK on two alts so far, just need 'Avoid The Green Stuff' for my third.)
Oh, and IMO they need to add one more thing to the trial panel, a 'You have <x> Cells/Pacification Grenades/Molecular Acids, click here to use one' button (two for Lambda, obviously). Expecting people to dig through their powers window looking for one or two temps among the hundred or so that certain character can have, whilst also trying to stay alive in a hostile environment? Not good. -
Have the tanker (or whoever's annoying AM the most) drag Antimatter to the NW, then SE then SW drawdown terminal areas in that order. The closer he is to the regen area when he freezes time, the quicker he gets there and unfreezes time, and the less time you're unable to avoid any potential Obliteration Beams while Frozen.

I think the market as a whole is going to have its usual DXP spasm, salvage prices are going to rise, desirable recipes are going to shoot up for at least the short-medium term, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria (ah, sorry, I seem to have descended into quoting films).
I see common and rare salvage prices going up, uncommons seems to have been a little unstable recently anyway, so I see those rising too, recipes are likely to increase due to the usual inf earning versus recipe drop rate discrepancy.
Generally then chaos, and a chance for those who are selling to profit. -
Quote:'Melee Strick' should probably be 'Melee Strike'.So I did some thinking and figured the Crab Spider should use a panoramic display for a full 360 degree field of view with augmented reality systems over laid on that view.
I'd use the red outlining effect you had on the rikti drone on either all of the tagged targets, or instead of the crosshairs reticle effect on the current primary target. I find the Crosshairs to be distracting, personally.
Some sort of implication of comms activity, maybe a small list of avilable channels somewhere.
I'm not sure I'd have a full 360 panorama though, 180 - 270 degress maybe, but I don't recall seeing cameras/sensors on the back of a crab spider helmet.
BTW, I *do* like the stuff you've put together so far, just a few suggestions you can feel free to ignore if necessary -
Quote:Bring up info on the powers in game and read the descriptions, all the info you need is in there, but for reference :that's the main reason I'm posting, I don't know what the combos are. I've been looking everywhere and haven't found anything that just flat out tells you them.
Weaken - Nimble Slash -> Ablating Strike -> Typhoon's Edge (this is the first combo you can get access to, -def and -tohit to everything hit by the Typhoon's Edge)
Empower - Nimble Slash -> Ablating Strike -> Blinding Feint (increases the tohit and damage buff from Blinding Feint)
Attack Vitals - Ablating Strike -> Vengeful Slice -> Sweeping Strike (applies extra lethal DoT damage to everything hit by the Sweeping Strike)
Sweep - Thousand Cuts -> Power Slice -> Typhoon's Edge (Knockdown and 50% more damage from Typhoon's Edge) -
Quote:I do that. I've still got the Large Red on all bar about 6 of my 50'sPosi plays a game "How long can I keep the two insps from the tutorial in my tray?" he's gotten a character to 50 with the red one still there.
I've never managed to keep the Large Green past about level 27 though. -
Quote:Sorry, there's no +end power in Dark Blast. You may be thinking of Dark Consumption in Dark Mastery.Dark ,, 8 or 9 powers cause - to Hit in additon to to 1 that immobs, 1 that disorients, 1 heals you and one that helps recover end (for you)
The only power in Dark Blast that does anything to endurance is the ever useless Blackstar, and that flatlines YOUR endurance and kills your recovery too.
I'd LOVE it if there was a +end power in Dark Blast, personally, but alas.
Getting On Topic, I've got two Defenders, a Dark/Dark/Dark and a Kinetics/Ice/Power. I play them both as 'Offenders' in that I use my Primary and Secondary both, although Kinetics/Ice does debuff my intelligence, as Fulcrum-Ice Storm-Blizzard is just too tempting, and I tend to forget that if I'm not careful I'll get to Fulcrum-faceplant instead...
Defender secondaries have very useful side effects. and having a functional attack chain means if you're not in the mood to team, or if you can't find one, then you can wander off and solo for a little while.
Play your toon how you want, but fon't overlook the usefulness of the blasts and their non-damage effects. -
Bought and sold. And eventually emailed off to myself when I levelled the toon I used for the trade to 10, since you can't email yourself until then... <facepalm>
(and them made up as soon as I could so I couldn't accidentally vendor it) -

Shows how often I pay significant attention to the EULA then, doesn't it
Oh well, move along, nothing to see here, people. -
I don't recall seeing this mentioned on these boards before now, but I just noticed today this section in the EULA (I get the EU EULA, it may vary in the US one slightly) :

tl;dr - (possibly) new legal guff in the EULA regarding NCSoft's virtual currency.
