I'm 45. I'm not even the oldest person on the global chat channels I use.

Double Xp often causes market insanity. You might want to wait until the next double xp before giving up.

Quote:That fits my definition of lying just fine.I wouldn't so much call it a "lie" as them [the developers] knowing that if they admit to adjusting the recipe drop-rate, there will be a firestorm of fury and a lot of people deciding to decamp. So of course such a change would not be announced, or admitted to.
-
Quote:If it turns out they are lying, I will quit instantly and never come back. I doubt that's what's happening, but that would be my reaction to this sort of "stealth nerf".I am wondering if there wasn't a "stealth" change to recipe drop-rates, and here's why: the new eight-man setting.
Leaving the rates alone would mean that people could be alone in a mission and come out with an ungodly amount of recipes anyways. This of course would be an "exploit."
So to prevent "exploits," recipe drop rate was greatly reduced - and I seem to be seeing less salvage these days as well, although I may be wrong on that one. What people never seem to remember is that anytime we get a new ability such as this, something else will be "adjusted" in the name of "balance." Therefore be careful what you wish for, you may just end up paying for it in some unexpected way. -
Unless people are saying that everyone should have everything, then both the market lovers and the market haters agree that there should be some form of rarity. Currently, we have the market to help determine who gets what, because with the current system it's not possible for people to get every possible thing.
The appropriate question, I think, is if you are going to do away withe market system as a way to distribute rare and semi-rare goods, what system is going to be in it's place? Waiting lists? Completely random distribution?
I'd love to hear the answer. -
Quote:What's your suggested alternative?BTW: I agree completely that no other system so far has provided a reasonable way to achieve goals that include slotting set IO's. The market is really the only way to do it within any realistic timespan, which is what I really dislike. You MUST use the market if you want IO's, there is no other realistic way to do things.

The best way to reduce the price of purples is to increase the drop rate, not to create a price cap. Price caps have all kinds of unintended and unpleasant consequences.

The sort of a Scot that lives down toward the English border and speaks English, as opposed to a highlander, which is the sort of Scot that lives up north and speaks Gaelic. At least that was the traditional distinction back in the day.

I got the last bit from someone paying about a 100 million more inf for a Ragnorok than they should have.

Quote:I find the red side more interesting to look at than the clean, boring, brightly colored and repetative blue zones. Different strokes for different folks I guess.I'll be moving all my red siders to blue side. Not because of a morality disparity. Not because of feeling like a second class villain. Not because of lack of teams. But because Redside is just plain ugly. Nothing but shades of brown and grey with continually overcast skies. Clouds do not equal ominous. Muted colors do not equal evil. They both just equal bland and boring.

Whatever server you choose, see if you can find someone tho hook you up with some of the global chat channels for that server. It's the best way to find teams and get your questions answered, not to mention make friends.

If you think of the market as a store, as just a place to buy stuff, then the high prices are a problem. If you think of it as a market, as a place to SELL stuff, the high prices are an opportunity.

Quote:We've all agreed to celebrate the Irish as a stand in for all immigrants. And since about 99% of us decended from sort of sort immigrant... it's really a celebration of us! Woo!
Come to think of it, what is Americans and their obsession with us Irish people? (No offense intended)
Something like that anyway. -
I have no strong opinion about whether they are evil or not, but man do they hit hard. Are they one of the strongest NPC groups in the game, or what?

Quote:This is why it's a good thing. That it probably makes certain forms PL'ing less viable isn't really a big issue to me.Super sidekicking will solve one big problem I always seem to have - three of us are on and each of us would like to play a different level character. Only one can be SKd or EXd, which means at least two have to be of the same level. With people only having one character on some servers, that isn't always possible. Come I16, it will be. That's good enough for me.

I have no idea what it all means, but I am in.

No one has ever given me any feedback, even though I once posted something nice about the French. I think that might be a good thing.

I am a cranky soloist at heart in both real life and the game.

Just for the record, I am an American and I have traveled to France several times. With the exception of a few Parisians who didn't like tourists (who can blame them) and a couple of people who insisted on blaming the entire record of GW Bush's foreign policy on me, I've never met a group a such wonderful people. They really know how to live and almost every one of them could give the average American some lessons in how to eat and how to dress.
I often wonder if all these retreat jokes are made because we're all jealous. -
Quote:I don't think we read the same article.Poor Positron.
I have a vision of him tied to a torture rack and being pulled apart by the playerbase on one end and Champions Online on the other, while giving this interview with a manufactured smile. Every time the said smile slips a cloaked figure steps out of the shadows with a hot poker and menacingly reminds: "Smile."
After all the "This cannot be done. Ever. Stop asking. No, really, stop asking. In order to do this, we would have to change fundamental laws of physics and possibly end the world and remake it in a new image" posts... After all that, it really has GOT to hurt to say: we could do it all along, we just thought it was too damn much work.
And the only reason we're doing it now is 1) because you bastards kept asking and 2) because Champions Online is just over the horizon. -
Quote:People celebrate that have no Irish roots whatsoever. It's really a celebration of Irish immigration and assimilation, not to mention the drinking of beer. Cinco de Mayo is becoming the same thing. It's being celebrated by more and more people who don't have any Mexican heritage at all, but like beer.St Patrick's day is actually quite big in the US, most of New York seems to claim Irish roots.
Oh and isn't Welsh St. David's day?
Apologies for getting my red white and blue all over the Euro section of the forum. -
Oh, just for the record, the nice thing about English is how similar all the different variants are. I can pick up a book published in the UK, Australia, Canada, the USA, New Zealand, etc. and I very little trouble reading it unless it contains a lot of slang.
All this whining (whinging) about slightly different spellings is pretty silly, considering. -
Got a defender from 14-23.
Got a blaster from 49-50.
Got a widow from 45-46.
And I was too busy to play all that much.
