Yep, I have several characters with dual builds and the same uniques in both builds. You do, of course, have to BUY the danged things again though.

Quote:It was quite a surprise the first STF I ran post i18 when I suddenly got end drained. Needless to say a tanker without any end quickly becomes a chew toy. That's really odd. I'm sure I've been doing STFs since i16 and I've never had him summon banes before the nuke thing. Dark Armor's isn't an autohit taunt aura either. I spam taunt on him and I stand near a tower, though. Could the gauntlet effect from my taunt aura and AoE's on the tower be stopping him from summoning?
Given the choice, I think I'd chose the banes myself, despite the fact that I don't notice his end drain attack at all. It might be nice to have some food lingering around for my Dark Regeneration.
I'd encountered the drain before of course, but only when I was at range. After that little oopsie in the first i18 run I altered my tactics and made sure I had a couple of big blues. Fortunately he didn't tag me with that drain again that run and we finished without much problem. -
Quote:Before issue 18 LR would summon Banes anytime he was aggroed unless something interrupted him. Anchoring a debuff would interrupt his summon so that he didn't use it and you didn't end up hip deep in Bane bosses. Autohit tanker auras would also work for this purpose as long as you never got out of melee with him.Two things. I checked the numbers and I do only get 50% of my health off of one target. It just always seems to be "enough," so it may as well be a full bar.
Second, what's this about anchoring a debuff to prevent bane summons? I ... never have a debuff anchored on him. I tell the team to anchor all debuffs on the towers in order to bring them down faster. I've never seen him summon banes before about 5% health.
I've noticed that since i18 hit he no longer summons Banes until the pet nuke at 20%; I don't know if this is intentional or if it's a bug. On the other hand, prior to i18 he never used his end drain attack in melee either like he does now. On the whole I'd rather have him summon Banes and not use that end drain since it's easier to prevent the summon than to prevent the end drain. -
Yes, it's possible, but you're going to need a ton of recharge and Hasten is a must. I don't have the exact figures but it's around perma-PA levels of recharge so you're shooting for over 200% global recharge + ED cap recharge in IW.

Quote:For scrappers Mids figures critical hits in average damage. You can turn this off in the options but that's why it shows more damage than you see in game.I have been getting wierd numbers from mids too. like damage on my bs/sd AAO= 81% (10 baddies) build up 80%, then proc for build up 80% = 241% yet in mids it shows my damage as over 392.8% Her damage bonuses are no higher than 14% so it is whcacked there.
Then on my ice/electric/pyre tanker, her new build shows her regen at 300/hp sec with hoarfrost on... In game se regens 43/hp sec with hoarfrost. I don't think I had hibernate on though. I will have to check it. but I definately think certain things off the new mids is bugged. I downloaded mine off of www.cohtitan.com
On the tanker I think you're reading it wrong, 300 HP/second would regen from 1 - cap HP in a bit over 10 seconds. That's WAY over anything possible on a tank. Heck, that's over a regen scrapper's numbers with IH on.
Hibernate would give that though, as would rest. -
The biggest issue with Numina's in Dull Pain is the unique isn't working all the time. It will work for 2 minutes after you hit DP then it'll shut off until you activate the power again. If you put the unique in Health it's always on.
-
Quote:That's a very common mistake, working out a build in Mids then jump in game, respec and bam, you're short of where you thought you should be. The reason for this is that Invincibility does nothing at all unless you have an enemy in range. Once an enemy is in range as your numbers show you get ~10% additional defense. I've made the same mistake myself, and also wondered why I was ~3% short once I DID get an enemy in range before realizing I didn't have CJ toggled on.Wow my head really hurts now lol, Ty for help on that one . All that aside is the build upto scratch?
There are a couple of things I question about your build, first off I don't really like Numina's in Dull Pain; the unique only works for 2 minutes after you activate the power and it doesn't max out your recharge. I suggest moving the unique to Health where it'll be on full time, and I'd slot Doctored Wounds into Dull Pain. 5 slots of DW will max out either your heal or your recharge and provide a 5% global recharge boost.
For another I personally wouldn't put Taunt off that long but that's your choice. I understand why you're slotting LotG into Invincibility but I'd use 3 Cytoskeleton HO's instead to max out both the defense and tohit bonuses of the power. Not a game breaker, just a suggestion.
There's no really major problems with your build other than the Dull Pain slotting; I've no doubt it will get the job done. It IS a bit on the expensive side, but I presume from your OP that you've already bought and slotted everything. -
I like the Gift of the Ancients set for my shields, 4 pieces gives me a sizeable recovery bonus and 1.8 bonus points of endurance. It's not that expensive, it caps out defense with good endred and I can stack it several times without really trying.
Also, get the +endurance accolades (Atlas Medallion, Portal Jockey) for another 10 points of endurance. With the accolades and 3 sets of GotA slotted my SD/Fire runs 7 toggles and has no endurance issues. -
There are ways to handle him. On your build, you can increase your defenses up to the 45% soft cap, that will make a huge difference in your durability.
On your tactics, here's my strategy with CMA, my Inv/Stone tanker.
First, I'm at 45% def to S/L/E/N damage, so while the blue tower's up I need one medium purple per minute to floor LR's tohit chances. I also want to increase my E/N resistance with oranges while the Red tower's up... I use two big oranges for the alpha and one per minute until the Red tower dies.
Keeping that in mind, I go into the final mission with 10 medium purples, 5 large oranges, 2 large greens for when he gets lucky and a couple large blues in case his end drain attack hits.
The sequence of events goes something like this:
- After the courtyard is cleared and the flier's gone the team gathers behind the Red tower and I eat 2 large oranges & 1 medium purple, then jump in and say hi to LR.
- Once I have aggro the team starts on the Red tower and I move LR over behind the Green tower so we'll be able to take him out in peace if the flier respawns. (Note, the flier will respawn every 20 minutes from the time the first person enters the map)
- While the Red tower's up I keep 1 large orange and 1 medium purple active. If LR gets a solid hit in I hit Dull Pain. If he gets me again that's what the greens are for.
- Once the Red tower dies I let the orange insps fade and keep one medium purple active while the team kills the blue tower. I also start to relax a bit here since his damage just got cut in half.
- Once the Blue tower dies I let all insps fade and just keep LR taunted. From this point on you're practically home free as a tanker.
- The team kills the Yellow and Green towers, then joins me and we take out LR. Make sure to keep LR facing away from the team as he has a nasty cone attack. Squishies beware too because he also has a small radius PBAOE that can really hurt.
- When LR hits 20% and hits his pet nuke just keep pounding on him until he goes down. A kinetic with Fulcrum is great here, as is a Fire controller with Bonfire... that knocks the pets out of the way so you can concentrate on LR.
- Profit!
Oh, I'd suggest getting the temp power "Ethereal Shift", it's a 30 second CLICK phase shift power and it makes a great panic button if things go south on you. Just taunt, hit the power and you have 30 seconds of invulnerability to recover. With a little taunt duration slotted you'll hold aggro until the phase shift ends.
I've gotten the MoSTF on CMA 3 times, and once on my Granite tanker. Yeah, the Granite's easier but I prefer CMA. -
Quote:Guardian isn't private, just join the channel. You will need to send a tell to a moderator on the channel (marked with a star) to get unsilenced. How does one get an invite for the Guardian and Level 50 channels? Who do I need to contact?
I'd also like an invite to The Incarnates channel: @UNB0UND 4 LIFE and @B0UND 4 DEATH (the "0" in both is a zero)
Level 50 you need an invite for.
On the subject of Incarnates, as of right now CMA is slotted along with my BS/SD scrapper. 3 other 50's are unlocked but not yet slotted up. The other 11 are waiting for me to have time...
@Call Me Awesome -
First and foremost a competent player behind the keyboard... this really can't be stressed enough.
Assuming competence on all teammates (not really a very good bet in general but we can hope) buff/debuff powersets stack up to become stupidly good the more you have so I'll go with that. Dark Defenders, Rad, Sonic, FF, Traps, Cold, Kin, TA and if they can manage it well, Storm.
I purposely don't list Emp here, not because it can't be a good set, just because the VAST majority of Emps I've ever seen are of the "pure healer" mentality. Anytime I see an Emp on the team it's a bit of a red flag, I assume that they're useless until proven differently. The few times I find one who uses the buffs AND blasts well are a pleasant surprise.
Give me a team full of good debuffers with a few buffs and that's a team that will destroy nearly anything in the game with ease. There's a reason that teams of Fire/Rad controllers are so crushingly dominant. -
All of them? No, probably not simply because several aren't played much. However, I probably will run all of the ones I play to any extent... eventually.
Right now I've unlocked on 4 of them, and 2 are slotted. -
I generally slot all Dull Pain type powers with 5 Doctored Wounds; it'll max out recharge and/or heal and gives you a 5% recharge bonus... something that's always useful for a Stone tanker. I typically leave off the End/Recharge IO and settle for slightly below ED cap recharge maintaining full heal and HP boost. Leaving it off costs about 15 seconds of recharge, but since I seldom need it every time it comes up I'll use that last slot somewhere else.
If you're more interested in maxing out the recharge you can leave off the heal/end instead for slightly less heal and full recharge. Either way the difference is pretty minimal. -
Quote:Yep, that they were. Sorry guys, I think I broke that when I wrote my guide.Yes, I remember those days too, when Reactive Armor recipes were barely above vendor trash.
{sigh}
Still, lower level Reactive Armor aren't all that pricey, in the last month I've sold about a dozen 25-35 RA of assorted types, all of them were listed for well under a million. Still a far cry from the 10k -50k they typically cost when I wrote my guide in issue 13.
Hmm, I just realized that I'm going to have to revise my lowbie Invuln guide for issue 19. -
Quote:Hmm, well your game login information is the same as your forum information and you have that correct.Hello
I have created an trial account for try the game but I can not login to server
I did it account the sunday 5 to the 17 pm GMT -3
I can login to my NCFsoft account what is the same for use with CoH.
I have added the game and the account is playable until the 12/12/2010
I have verified my email
Ideas?
Thanks in advanced
What response do you get when you try your username and password to log into the game?
Also, did you create a US trial account or an EU trial account because the game client downloads are slightly different.
One last thing, and I imagine you've already thought of this, but the password is case sensitive, so you didn't have caps lock on by chance? I made that exact mistake myself logging in just last week. -
Invuln Pros:
- Hard capped S/L resistance possible with Tough.
- Massive heal and HP boost power in Dull Pain, possible to make permanent and cap HP.
- Relatively inexpensive to soft cap defenses to S/L/E/N damage
- Invincibility offers considerable defense to all but psi and additional def per enemy in melee.
- Great taunt aura.
- Weakness to Psi damage. However, Psi is rare and mostly where it exists it's fairly low damage.
- Unstoppable (tier 9 power) is highly situational. It offers capped resist to all but Psi while it's up but it's very dangerous when it crashes.
- Fairly low resistance to E/N/F/C damage types.
- Set and forget powerset with no click powers.
- Good passive regeneration and HP boosting powers.
- Good endurance recovery with Quick Recovery
- Decent resistance to most damage types including Psi.
- Regeneration boosting power based on the number of mobs around you in Rise to the Challenge.
- Moderate defense.
- Decent tier 9 power that adds a bit to your durability with decent uptime.
- By far the worst taunt aura in the game, it's duration is less than 10% the duration of every other aura. This is it's biggest drawback.
- No tools for recovering from burst damage.

Quote:I've played a bit on Infinity, it's where my SG established a redside group. We didn't do a lot of PuG'ing but I don't remember any really bad teammates there, you'll probably find a lot of good people on Infinity. Thanks for all of the help and answers! I tried playing on Freedom and a few other ones yesterday and today, and I think I'm going to use another server since I hadn't taken the lag into account, lol. I'm re-rolling on Infinity right now and I think that will be my main server...so if you see "Snafu Tofu" running around, it's me
Actually the only place I've run across very many rude or obnoxious players is Freedom; I can attest that they're quite rare on Guardian and I only remember one on Pinnacle, the two servers I play on the most. In the course of leveling one character to 25 on Freedom I added 5 players to my ignore list and found several others who were annoying, but not quite ignore-worthy.
I just checked my little black book of bad/abusive/rude players I've encountered; I've been on Guardian for over 6 years and run into 3 of them... I've played one character 1-25 on Freedom and run into 5. Now I've run into lots of unskilled players of course and plenty of generally poor ones but the truly bad are quite rare on most servers. Lack of skill is something all of us had to deal with when we were new and it's generally correctable. Poor play is just something you deal with, and ALL of us are occasionally guilty of it, even 6+ year veterans can make stupid mistakes and play poorly from time to time.
So don't worry so much about your inexperience, all of us were in that position at one time and most of us are perfectly willing to help anyone new to the game. Most of us aren't generally hardcore about most things. Yeah, there are challenges in the game for hardcore players but most of the game doesn't need that level of ability.
Always keep in mind that this is a game... it's supposed to be fun! If you're not having fun with something or don't understand something then by all means ask, we seldom bite around here. -
Quote:Good point, lots of ISP "support" people like to blame anything but their hardware for any fault. I've found Comcast is particularly bad about this. That's often the first thing your ISP will ask you to do, so you can rule out a crappy router. If it works, even remotely, it's a quick and easy way for them to say, "Welp, guess you better get your DLXPoopStinker Router replaced before you bother us again, huh slappy?"
Give it a go and see what happens.
I doubt very much that your modem is set up for a static IP; that's typically reserved for the very few who actually need it. Almost certainly you could hook the CAT 5 cable from the modem directly to your laptop, reboot the laptop and get internet. It's simple and much more idiot proof that way so ISP's far prefer it.
If you have good internet with the modem connected directly to the computer but it flakes out going through the router then it's likely that the router's the problem. If it still flakes out then the problem is the modem, the ISP or the computer itself. Well, possibly the cable, I had a case where a new puppy found the CAT 5 cable and caused an intermittent problem... that took awhile to run down. At least he didn't chew on a power cord. -
Quote:That will work sure; you'll just have one connection. Did the power off/on of the modem followed by the router fix the issue before? After hours of screwing with everything, I got my Internet back at around 8 PM Eastern. But when my Mom went to use her computer at 6 AM, she said that the internet wasn't working. I'm starting to think that our router might by dying. I don't know.
Do you guys think that if I just directly hooked up my Laptop to the Internet Cable from the Modem that I would have Internet until I got the Router fixed or just got a new Router?
Right now we don't know if the problem's the modem, the router or your ISP; without knowing that it's shooting blind to decide what's going bad. -
Hence why I mentioned if that didn't solve the issue, and for me it does about half the time, to reboot the computer afterward. Not a big deal, and it's not going to hurt anything to do it either way.
-
Quote:I've had this issue several times myself with my cable modem setup and rebooting the modem and router usually takes care of the problem.sounds like the router came up before modem got done connecting to the isp.
try unpluging the power from the modem and router. then plug in the modem, wait a few minutes to be safe and let it connect. then plug in the router, give it a minute to get started. then reboot your pc.
When you plug the modem back in wait until the connected light comes on; this varies from modem to modem but there should be a power light, a data light and a connection light. Sometimes it may take a few minutes to sync up.
When all the lights on the modem are on then turn on the router. Once it's lights all come on, which should only take a few seconds, see if you have internet. If not, reboot your computer and see if that solves your issue.
If you still have problems then it's time to call your ISP tech support. -
Quote:I have the free Avast on several machines, and the free Avira on the others. Both seem to do the job and both have a pretty small footprint. Of the two I slightly prefer Avira... but either works and I don't prefer it enough to change the machines that already have Avast.I also use the free Avast. I changed over when AVG introduced version 9.
I'd also suggest Spybot and Malwarebytes for additional security; I don't have them set up to run all the time, I just run a weekly check with them. So far I haven't had anything get past either Avira or Avast so Spybot and Malwarebytes have yet to find anything. Still, I sometimes get paranoid and it's not a bad thing to have other tools to double check. -
I do have a Stone/energy at 50... with that said the combination really isn't all that great anymore; if the character's still really low I'd change to another secondary. Years ago /EM was a good set but in the shape it's in now it's one of the worst available to tankers.
On the Stone portion in my opinion the must haves are Rock Armor, Earth's Embrace, Rooted, Mud Pots, Stone Skin and Granite. Minerals is optional and Crystal and Brimstone are skippable in my opinion. About half the time on my Stone tankers I don't run Granite, just Rock/Rooted/Stone Skin is enough for a small team unless you run into something nasty.
Pool powers you'll want would include Hasten, Teleport (It's the only way you can move effectively in combat without turning off your mez protection) and possibly Hover to make TP easier to use for zone travel.
On the EM side you can pick and choose some, the biggest drawbacks are the extremely long animations on the heavy hitters and the highly single target focus of the set. I find my Stone/EM constantly "corpse blasting" on teams; I click on Energy Transfer and spend 3 seconds staring at my glowing fists while the team kills my target, then ET fires off on the already dead enemy and starts it's lengthy recharge. I target another mob and click Total Focus and the same thing happens again. Unless you're fighting a really tough mob like an EB or AV it gets frustrating since you'll waste so many attacks.
I'm not saying you won't like the combination, just that with the changes a few years ago I don't like the combination anymore. I have two level 50 stone tankers, one Stone/EM and one Stone/Fire. There's literally no comparison in the utility of the two. Naturally both are almost unkillable by almost anything in the game, that's a given in a decently built Stone tank even on pure SO enhancements. The /Fire is vastly superior in aggro management thanks to two large AOEs and deals more damage... it's attacks all animate quickly as well. The /EM, well, it has glowing pom-poms on it's hands.
If you're ok with the drawbacks of /EM in slow animations and poor AOE damage then you may enjoy the character; back when I rolled and leveled mine it did have poor AOE but it had fast animating attacks. Alas, it's not that way anymore.
In reading over this I guess I'm maybe overstating things somewhat, but that's still the only 50 I have that I've had no desire at all to play in the last few years. -
Quote:Indeed, this is by far the best way to get teams. Join the popular channels for your server and ask in them for a team. Also, be sure to set your "looking for team" flag to looking for any.Go to the Forum for your server (it's below this one a bit) - and check the list of global channels there.
All the servers I'm active on primarily recruit for TF's and other content via the global channels. As an example, Guardian server has several active channels, the "Guardian" channel is the general purpose teaming and chat channel, there's "Guardian TF's" which is also populated, "Guardian's Team" is another. Then there's "Level 50" which is an invite-only channel for players with a level 50 character. Of the bunch "Guardian" and "Level 50" tend to be the busiest.
Other servers will have other channels, just ask in the forum for your server which global channels are most active. We seldom bite and most of us are glad to help out newer players.
