What do i slot my Invuln tank for?

Dusted off my old Invulnerability/EM tanker earlier for a freespec. all his old IO's were done back when IO's first came out and i dont know what i was doing.

What should i slot him for now though?

I think i'm right in saying positional defence isnt useful for him, as Invincibility reaches 70% for typed defence, so slot for that? try get him up to defence cap?

or resistance? s/l is capped as standard with Tough, Energy's a bit weak go for that?

Build that psi res/defence up?

Advice: required.

Good things to go after for Invuln are: Perma Dull Pain, Softcapped S/L/E/N(F/C to a lesser extent) with one enemy in Invinc range, Regen, and Psi Def/Res. It's also good to make sure you hit the new Tanker HP cap, which shouldn't be too difficult.

You're right that positional defense won't be useful. However, slotted Invinc gives about 23% defense with 10 foes in range, and slotted Tough Hide gives around 8% total. Not close to 70%, but since 45% is the soft-cap, a very good start.

Probably the most common IO goal for Invul tanks is to try to get to the soft-cap of 45% for S/L/E/NE with one foe in range of Invinc, using pool powers and IO bonuses. F/C and Psi def are also useful, though less of a priority.

The options for increasing resistance with set IOs are not worth slotting for, IMO, and Tough is the only pool power that gives resistance. Going for defense is the far better option.

There's some disagreement on this point, but IMO and the opinion of a lot of other Invul tankers, that's not the way to go. Psi is a very small proportion of the damage you face during the game, and the amount of slots and influence you have to devote to getting Psi def and resist will mostly likely preclude soft-capping against the far more common damage types.

That might be true for Psi Defense. Psi Resistance however is easy to get without committing to sets.

I'm guessing that you mean by using the Aegis and Impervium Armor +Psi resist IOs. While it's true that you can get Psi resistance with them by using a single IO instead of several, at 3% resistance apiece that's still a lot of slots devoted to that purpose that most Invul tanks could use for something else. I certainly never have even 2 or 3 slots to spare, let alone the 10-15 that would be needed to get Psi resistance up to useful levels with those IOs.

Yep, that they were. Sorry guys, I think I broke that when I wrote my guide.

Still, lower level Reactive Armor aren't all that pricey, in the last month I've sold about a dozen 25-35 RA of assorted types, all of them were listed for well under a million. Still a far cry from the 10k -50k they typically cost when I wrote my guide in issue 13.

Hmm, I just realized that I'm going to have to revise my lowbie Invuln guide for issue 19.

One unexpected side benefit of I19 for me is that as I've added +defense powers to some of my characters, (CJ, Weave) I've been able to pull some Kinetic Combat sets that are no longer needed. (Also bought when prices were much, much lower, BTW.) So far I've "liberated" four complete sets, which will be a huge help in kitting out new characters.

He was at 292% regen. I respec'ed him last night to get Inherent Fitness and added Physical Perfection, putting regen at 319%. I also added Weave (previously only had Tough) but have not yet played him with Weave.
