How the hell is he dead?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Spoiler... unless you've read the comic: He dies of heart failure... or at least that's how it looks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's actually true. Just checked. Poor guy.

EDIT: Since we're talking about Ouroboros, I could raise the argument that Ms. Liberty should never have been born.

    SPOILERS!

In the Villain TF given to you by Mender Tesseract she asks you to assassinate President Marchand. When you get to him, he teleports away and you're left fend off Liberation Lass's mother - Miss Liberty. Now, if memory serves me, she doesn't have a mediport on her because we acquired that technology from the Rikti and at the time of Marchand's assassination they hadn't invaded. Theoretically, when you fight Miss Liberty she cannot port away as she doesn't have a mediport. Therefore, she should have died, preventing her from having Ms. Liberty. Of course, Ms. Liberty could have already been born. But in Miss Liberty's lore it should be said that she was killed defending President Marchand.

    Debate!

As with all universes that have time travel, their is a device/entity/universal law that prevents paradox.

See any time travel story in DC or Marvel main universes.

See also a VEAT going back to cause the rise to power of the organization that trained him, after gaining power.

Or the finale to the Project Destiny story line.

CoX space time continuum is paradox proof!

Eh? What happened there? It didnt register and now it does?

Besides who the heck cares about a question mark? Crikey some of you really stretch the limits of pure pedantic nonsense. Can those of you who are like that please stay away?

Is it possible that the intellegent posters, the ones who dont jump at every opportunity to be sarcastic or to knock someone else, please post?

Or nort? But the wasters? Please stay away, Cause you are a drain on these boards you really are.

It's 1AM on a Sunday night, and your topic title basically calls to scrap one of the things that makes this game more accessible than the plethora of Korean grindathons and Everquest clones.

Mild sarcasm was a pleasant surprise, I was expecting full on flaming.

Because unlike other MMORPGs it allows friends to continue playing with each other should one miss a few leveling sessions due to IRL stuff.

It's one of the things that makes Cox better than the other games out there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And how does auto sking (for want of a better term)prevent that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It'd get rid of the neato badges for one!

  5. When you get down to it.

Arachnos is an equally valid government in comparison to the US.

Likewise it suffers from constant terrorist attacks from the USA.

if word got out the USA would be messed up from it, basically no country would trust the USA not to send in Metahuman terrorist forces if they disagreed with it.
  6. Character: (Arch)Twilighter
Level: 41 (probably higher depending when the even occurs
Time: Never on a Saturday, available late evening sunday and onwards, at least until the 18th of September, then uni starts.

And if you can do without rudeness, why do you employ it so much?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because I'm a paradox in conflict with the modern world!
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I don't find Jay remotely funny, but I'm prepared to humour him because he designs good costumes, and because you are more likely to influence someone if you laugh at thier jokes, however unfunny they are.

Humour is entirely subjective. You cannot say something is "not funny" without being a complete moron. All you can say is "I don't find it funny". BAB, I find mildly amusing, but since he doesn't post here, CatusBrawler gets his wish.

    Huzzah that's one task down.

I find Jay funny, also he hates furrys so is naturally good people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thus negating your OH GOD I'M OFFENDED issue with BAB.

Be offended by all of them, or don't take any seriously. It's only fair.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No because Jay is funny, BAB comes across as rude, rudeness I can do without, funniness is okay.
  10. I find Jay funny, also he hates furrys so is naturally good people.

Nor is he payed to post on the forums, he does that on his own time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

ah so what your saying, is he doesn't get paid to be a sarcastic git? He just chooses to do so?

Bit odd when the devs are trolling their own boards though.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    I like BAB.

I don't know how he resists telling humourless whiners to just sod off and play WoW, frankly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a sense of humor I just don't appreciate, getting cheek (aka American sarcasm) from people I'm paying for a service.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Even when BAB wasn't here he has been viciously attacked over his jokes by humourless (and fartherless) people on these boards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

American sarcasm should never be used. It just ain't funny and comes across as rude to the people who are essentially paying you.

And the make you look like a PPD hard suit power, is a power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...but it wasn't described as a set of costume pieces like the cyborg pack. Really CB, go back and actually read the description of the bloody thingy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Buy pack.

Get new costume pieces, new emotes and a new power, which could very well be the "make you look like a PPD guy" power, either that or yet another aura version of sprint.

The power it self can't be anything too useful y'know or it'd start a **** storm so large it would sink both boards.

    [ QUOTE ]

Could be the 'power' we get with the pack?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, because it was explicitly described as costume pieces and a power.

why do i get the feeling it's the same as the one in pax.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really doubtful. PAX is a temp power.
This one gonna be actual costume pieces. Now if they added some of those pieces it would make alot of people happy, but we'll have to wait and see.

I've tended to think that there won't be... but I could point out, if I were to be paranoid, that players not seeing who created a mission won't stop the devs and GMs knowing.

It's kinda their database... they're kinda super users but that doesn't mean that they're going to be impartial.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But why wouldn't they be? Their main concern will be to deliver a high quality product - so the only thing that'll matter when they choose missions is the quality, not who made them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They are human, the natural state of humaness is to be a jerk.

To not be a jerk takes effort.
  18. The very first auto heal power you get.

That ways it's allways on and depending on the level of the IO should be working when you exemp for TFs etc

  22. The nameless being observed the battle, that is to say, he ran around in mock panic, finding the best points to view the heroes struggles and thus to feed on the visual energy, their emotions generated.
But the dance couldn't last for long, though he'd not been cloned himself, he found him self surrounded by clones, civilians by their dress, weathering their blows the surrounded being seemed, less concerned with the beating he was receiving and more concerned with watching the rest of the battle.

“Tch I can't get a good distance, would some one offer assistance?” he shouted in a stage voice, as the clone mob wailed on him.
  23. Galactic Games.

As so often happens in comics some vast powered cosmic being messes around with the earth because he's bored, grabbing powerful heroes and villains alike and throwing them into a war against each other, the area is its creation. Hence none of the enemy mobs, just PC heroes and Villains.

A mobless open PVP zone that would have actual in universe explanation for the lack of Longbow, Arachnos, Freakshow or whatever forces.

  25. Chapter Thirteen. Recourse?

It has been awhile, since last I wrote, I could lie and say I was simply, too busy to write down my thoughts. But I shall not, I have not written anything down because I have been afraid, afraid that in thinking what to write, the memories would destroy my mind.

I am writing this with, a terrible headache, I have turned to drink to escape, the memory, the sight of her pale eyes...

It all started, when Varrick that thrice cursed piece of effulgence, announced that the Dusk Spiders, would be dealing with a terrorist cell, named the Terra Liberation Front, they believe among other things that strength, is the only thing man needs. Divided around the world, each cell lead by, well, the term meta-human should suffice, in describing the cells leaders. The cell we were to target was lead by a being known as Battle Unit Omega, I say a being but in fact it would be closer to a colony, dozens maybe even close to a hundred machine bodies, their AI making up one singular mind.

It's not the deaths of the terrorist soldiers, that causes my mind to tremble, my hand to reach for a glass and my body to crave drunken oblivion. They chose their fate, trained, killed and were willing to die for their cause. No the, event that may have broken my will, that comes later.

We had arrived, at what appeared to be a ware house, I say appeared, most ware houses don't have an underground bunker complex below them. The soldiers put up a decent defense, but against a heavily armed force such as the Dusk Spiders, they had no real chance. Explosions sounded from the second assault force, 'so much for stealth' I remember thinking as we entered the wrecked ware house.

An elevator brought us to our goal, some where here would be a database, not only information stolen from Arachnos, but information from the US government, data on registered 'mutant' heroes, of course there were defences, flame throwers melted Arachnos armour, missile fire broke bones and lives.

Then came the machines vast metallic ogres, they ploughed into our forces, tearing crushing, ending lives with thrusts of metal hands. Not that our troops didn't have some success, rocket and laser fire concentrated by squads would bring a machine down, only for another to take its place. Our forces had what the machines lacked, great inventive minds backing them up. The machines were steam powered, they fell quickly before the power of the Absolute Zero Ray, I won't bore you with the mechanics, this is a journal not a technicians hand book, let us just say it involves dead energy dimensions and portals and leave it at that.

The machines hacked into our coms, classic tactics, disrupt our communication and yes, use propaganda to break our spirits. Despite the machine urgings, none ran, to run from this mission would mean the soldiers certain death, the machines offered uncertain death. What happened next, I will never forgive Varrick for, I will focus all my will, all my intellect on making sure he pays for this.

“Information retrieved, sending data to Baron Eternity” his voice rang across the communicator.

As one the machines surged at me, ignoring the other troops they had but one goal in mind, myself, I responded with blasts of the ray, the machines exploded as steam became ice ripping their frames apart. But it wasn't enough, I unleashed dark matter, blinding, grasping, it covered my escape, the elevator was not fast enough, a burst of energy melted through it, I tore though the ware house at break neck speeds.

It was enough to escape the machines, almost enough, a singular target still pursued me, smaller than the other machines we had classified it, as a support machine. It matched my course and then, opened fire, flames cut off my escape, the shots curved pursued me even as the small machine did.

I headed for the ocean, desperately summoning the support of my robots, they appeared jets taking up the slack as they teleported in. I turned to confront my pursuer.

“Statement: Accept: Destruction: Arachnos Scum” it's digital voice announced

“I think not!” I clicked my fingers

My machines opened fire, and then the impossible happened, laser bent, plasma shifted, rockets tumbled into the ocean. It became clear to me, the machine could manipulate kinetic fields, it wasn't hitting me with fire, but with the equivalent of a rail cannon.

“Unwieldy” the machine retorted as it gunned down one of my machines

“Cursed” mighty Titanus fell smouldering into the ocean.

    “Useless” a third fell

One of my robots rose behind it, utilising it's final attack protocol it enfolded the smaller machine in its steel grip.

“Booby trapped” I supplied as the my machine overloaded, detonated, engulfing my pursuer in a rose of flame.

I felt relief, but it was unfounded as the smoke cleared, the pursuer floated, then it's helmet broke, a child stared at me with cold hatred, a young girl no older than ten. I felt bile rise into my throat, what evil could do this to an innocent, that moment of weakness nearly proved fatal, the girls cannons barked, flame slammed into my armour, ribs broke.

Reacting on pre-coded responses, my machines urged forward clustering around the girl, overloading, detonating, destroying The instant the flame touched her, emotions seemed to flood into her staring eyes. That is what keeps me from sleeping, tortures my dreams, drowns my thought and crushes my will.

Fear, fear that she became self aware again, just before I killed her.

I swore I'd stain my soul, if it got me my goal, but not this, not killing a child.

I'm surrounded by monsters, who can I turn to before I become one myself?

I will have to pay for this some how, once my goals are complete, I'll have to make it up to her some how, even if it means not seeing the new world.

My hands are shaking, I need a drink.
