((Question: Since you're speaking of merging with the 'Virtueverse' does that mean all the bombs are in 'Unionverse'? Or would there be a matching set in the other?))

Blast, foiled again... -
Very much with you on the "There's too many stickies" bit. That was the first thing I thought when I got back on the RP forum. The CoH Fanzine thing can go I think. Gilgamesh's Send Us Your Fanfiction post can go, since they stopped posting that stuff on the official site years ago. Paragon Times can go, Doc Brainstorm can be unstickied as well.
I don't have a real opinion on the others except for maybe letting them be unsticked so we can make a new version that's a bit more up to date (like you suggested.)
So I guess a short list would be What Do We Need To Keep? -

Doesn't get much more unlucky than that. -
Rachel Warrens sat in her room, feeling confused and sick. No, it wasn't the first time she'd seen death, but it was the first time it came as a result of her lack of control. Her mentor had always made sure that, above all, she was in control. Thinking back to Sybil, she felt a deeper twinge of sadness. And as she became lost in her memories, a fog rolled through her mind.
She remembered the night of the coup, when she'd been forced to leave the timeline. That had always been the plan of the Resistance, should something terrible happen. Rachel would live to warn the past and save her parents. And she did. But she couldn't bring herself to return to her time and it left her feeling selfish, like she didn't belong.
'A little girl, lost in her mind.'
Rachel looked up then, trying to clear her mind of the fog. She couldn't. She ran toward the closet to put on her armor, then found herself on her knees, unable to will her limbs to move.
'When we're done with you, things will be quite clear. I promise.'
Rachel saw a woman through the fog. She started, recognizing her from the dream, the same blood-red trenchcoat and short black hair. She fought harder now against the restraints that she knew now were mental, but to no avail.
"Who are you?" said Rachel, hoping to buy a few moments time.
'No one is coming. And you may call me Mistress Psykes. It's more fitting than my weakling name, don't you think?'
"What do you want from me?" Rachel's eyes locked with her tormentor's, and her own grew fearful.
'I am going to set your timeline right, starting with you.' Her hand reached out then in a claw-like gesture. She raised her arm as if to strike.
Just then, the fog blew apart in a burst of flame. The Mistress cursed as she faded back, arms shielding her face from the fire. Pstorm felt a warmth as her bonds loosened and broke. Her father stood over her, chest heaving. "I think I have a better idea of what we're up against," he said, then collapsed. -
Glad to see (sort of) all these new faces. ^_^
I wouldn't worry about disrupting anyone's RPs with a sudden influx of people, it tends to kick things into high gear for a while. I don't see how we can't all co-exist as one big, happy, dysfuntional universe.
Can't wait to write with you guys. -
Achieving your every goal except for that which you placed above all others would be maddening to most. For others, it left them with a twinge of dissatisfaction that would be hard to place.
For the Blight Brawler, it was the former.
Day after day he strove to find a means of destroying Elitist and it always came down to the problem he knew would arise from the day this struggle began: the man had grown too firm in his position. Of course killing him would be no difficult task, but the fallout and civil war it would cause between the members of the Masters of Mayhem would tear down everything he'd wished to rule.
Ultimately it left him disgusted, remembering the day when he had a very important choice before him. It was the same day he'd destroyed and inhabited the fool Burning Brawler. But there was no altering his timeline, for that would be admitting a mistake. No, all his plans came to fruition, it was merely a matter of when.
This was the contemplation that fueled and haunted his every waking moment, a contemplation that was broken by the sound of an alarm.
The Blight Brawler's eyes lit with a sickly green flame. The Masters of Mayhem's base, formerly the tower in Grandville, was supposed to be the pinnacle of modern security.
It seemed that the last remnant of Techno Tyrant's memory was a poor one indeed.
He was aware of the slight hiss of shadow becoming solid. That sound was all that saved him as Blight Brawler leapt forward, narrowly avoiding the assassin's strike. Flames wrapped themselves all around his dark frame as he stared down his attacker. "You are the one who has been causing so much trouble for my other selves? Quaint."
Flames leapt from the Blight's hands, seeking to enwrap and incinerate this intruder. They found nothing as the man disappeared into the darkness. It was then that the possibility he could meet the same end as the rest dawned on him, and he knew that it was only a matter of time.
A swift, fiery backhand caught the assassin as he crept from behind. Another jab allowed him to get a grip on his dark, green cowl. The Blight lifted him into the air, watching with amusement as the man caught alight. He amusement turned to surprise as a swift strike from a punch dagger sheared the top of his skull like butter.
The assassin held no satisfaction in his eyes as his opponent fell away, no feeling of pride as the shadows put out the fires around him. He merely watched, waiting.
And there it was! An ooze slowly seeped out, making its way toward a grate. The assassin, the Final Glimpse rolled another orb toward the fleeing ooze. As it was brought into the cold embrace of it's prison, all that the assassin could feel was disappointment.
He knew by now they must all be aware of his strikes, paranoid as Blightlord is he would always keep a watchful eye on his biggest threat: himself. The Blight Brawler was supposed to be one of the strongest, if not the most defiant, of them. And yet he'd hardly raised a fight.
The Final Glimpse scooped up the small orb just as the Masters guards burst into the room. He gave them one piercing look, then vanished. -
Pstorm floated, suspended in the air by magic as her father made his examinations. She'd ran home and told them everything, caught between shock and hysterics at her loss of control. The moment her tale was finished, she had been brought to this room.
"I don't see anything out of the ordinary. No compulsion, no blocks, no illnesses. Just a lot of stress," said Burning, shaking his head. "You'll have to stay in until we can get this all sorted out."
Pstorm didn't protest, merely nodded as she sat on the cold floor. "I don't know how this happened."
"Don't worry," said Danica, moving in to comfort. Powerless she may be, but this job she could do. "Everything will be fine."
Burning stepped out of the room, taking the few steps in the apartment until he had reached the broom closet. Opening the door revealed a rather extensive library that forced a smile to tug at the man's lips. The wonders of pocket dimensions. He stepped inside, hoping that the answer to his daughter's condition lay inside one of these books. -
I'd be all over this in six different ways. o.o

Almost more than I want new content, I want someone to take a fine-toothed comb and go through all these old arcs that have been made nonsense by updates in the last few years. And to maybe spice up some of the original arcs with the tech that came after (where appropriate of course.)
I'd be glad to do it if they pay me. -

Especially since Lothic (last I checked) still not happy that the dves took the time to change the alakazamreact emote to bring up random objects when one the juggle emotes still don't work when hovering (even after it was pointed out that it BAB said it was fixed but got broken again).

That was me...but in my defense:
1) I didn't know that the juggle emotes weren't working with flight at the time (technically, they were working, they were just being immediately interrupted by the flight idle animations)
2) It took about 10 minutes to copy the giant list of FX GEOs from Propel, and then remove the ones that were way too big
3) It made me giggle like a schoolgirl for a solid couple of hours.

And that, ladies and gents, is all the mental image I need to make it worthwhile. -
I still hold to the theory that Positron was just showing us screenshots of a weird bug they hit while testing I-16, which actually be centered around Catgirls in Space.

Technically, July 31st, 11:58 PM is still in July.
However, I would expect more juicy details by no later than Comi-con.

No later than Comic-Con? Don't you mean this week? Or are you telling us we'll get Going Rogue info this week and I16 info at Comic-Con?
I hope we don't get another week by week info-bit feed up until the week of Comic-Con. Yuck.

While we're on the subject of Longbow's place in the Isles and Liberty's interesting gray-slant that seems to be developing...
I was doing a Newspaper mission that involved pulling a heist in a Longbow "Officer's Club." After pilfering the safe, one of the ambushes said, "In the name of Ms. Liberty!" (I'm guessing "Stop in the!" was said before the minion entered). I wonder if they're trained to call on her name for authority, since Rogue Isles law isn't exactly in line with Lib's vision. >.> -

I think Serafina must be relater to Azuria. Either that, or magic makes people dumb in CoHworld.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, come to think of it, there's a Newspaper mission where a villain has to retrieve a horror novelist from a magically-powered group that thinks his works of fiction are based on fact. And then there's a Police Radio mission where a hero goes to rescue the owner of a shop that carries old tomes and other weird things from a magically-oriented villain group, only to find that he's been freaking out his captors by babbling vague things about unseen horrors and cosmic geometry(which is particularly odd if it's the Circle of Thorns who kidnapped him).

That first one I think is supposed to be an homage to Stephen King, and that second one to H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos.

To me they both sound Lovecraft, especially the first. There are some people who are pretty keen on the idea of Lovecraft having a little more to his stuff than just what came off the top of his head. O.o -

After defeating someone like Frostfire, the Hellions dont hold a lot of challenge for a hero and its time to move up to greater threats.
[/ QUOTE ]
You meant to say Outcasts instead of Hellions, correct? Also, any chance of the Hellions actually getting their own AV/EB at any point in the future? And the Skulls too? It seems like just about every other group has some big-wig calling the shots except them (I'm not remembering every group right now, there's probably others without AV/EBs too, and I wouldn't be against them getting their own as well). Vahzilok have Dr. Vahzilok, Clockwork have the Clockwork King, CoT have quite a few, Outcasts have Frostfire, all of the higher level groups have at least one AV. Even if the Hellions and Skulls are just rival gangs in a never-ending turf war, it seems that there should be more than just a few named bosses running the show.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hellions have 3K Kelvin, and Supposedly have a leader, and the Skulls have Brothers that lead it, The Hellion Leader is likely just a Fire/Fire Insert AT here, and the Skull leaders are probably a Dark/Dark corr and a Dark/Dark Brute.
[/ QUOTE ]
3K Kelvin is a long way from the Hellions' main turf.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's stated through some in-game info that the Hellions are lead by 3 bosses, all of which I believe are locked in the Zig. There's also a mission that contradicts this, early villain mission I think in Port Oakes. (Or perhaps that one leads the Rogue Isles branch...?) -

Paragon City's been in an economic slump since the end of the Rikti war. It's cost the city a lot of money to rebuild and those expenses are eaten by the taxpayers. Every deduction a citizen of Paragon City can take on those taxes counts, even if it doesn't work out to very much in the end. So, naturally, it makes sense that "Penny" would be a popular name for your newborn little deduction.
Just my two cents worth.

OK, I'm done now.

This made me laugh very hard.
And your questions all make me wonder what arcs I've been playing, because names are getting tossed out and plotlines that I don't remember one lick of, despite having "done it all." o.o
Erm... Continue -
First, check your friendly ParagonWiki and dig up as much info on Bane Spiders and the couple arcs that revolve around them for info. From there you can make some decisions for yourself on what you think your run of the mill Bane would be capable of.
If I remember right, isn't it more that they're all on a mental network, not necessarily being controlled? If that's the case, then you're only limited by how much your character would be capable of while all his brothers are aware of your actions and thoughts. Now it's possible punishment can be delivered over this network as well, so that's a concern to bear in mind.
There may also be some Bane Spider AT arcs that deal with this mental link specifically, perhaps even severing it. Or you could explore personal backstory options relating to just such an action yourself to give yourself more "freedom."
A Bane Spider has had rigorous training and a hard life beginning since childhood, that should likely reflect in your speech and mannerisms. It'd be like RPing a militaristic character, but with the darker tinges that can be assumed in Arachnos training (brutality, assassinations, feuding between factions, high penalties for failures).
Is that helpful at all? Or do you have any specific questions in mind? -
Don't forget reading Herbs as 'Erbs.
All because there's a [censored] h in it. -
Hah, there's a good point there actually. Wonder what the RP boards will look like once things start to blend (As I doubt one 'style' is gonna end up totally dominating the other

Arc: A Fish Tale, One That Didn't Get Away
Arc ID: 164202
By: @Mrs.AlphaOne
I'm trying this out with a level 21 MA/Willpower Scrapper to make this a little different. If I run into a serious issue, I'll switch to a high level character and give this a more fair run. Anyway, let's begin!
Mission 1:
Talking to the contact, it's clear you're gonna need to go back through his opening text. Commas are way overused, including them being in places they shouldn't be at all. Also, check his last sentance in the send-off, looks like you forgot what you were saying for a moment there. As for your selling the mission itself, very nice. Quite interested in the story you've set up and feeling ready to jump in.
Remembering that I'm working for a Mender, I got over the fact that my hero was fighting Longbow rather quickly. The map is appropriate, the mission is neat, and everything is going just fine until I get to Gideon. I'm not sure if you're going for a look that's him in the middle of the transformation from human to Mako or not, but you may be better off just using Captain Mako as the hostage. I think you can still rename him to Gideon and I'm almost positive you can rewrite his bio if you like. But as is right now, I'm not a fan of the custom NPC.
More on Gideon: Dual Blades? I guess you must be going for pre-transformation. I was expecting claws, so it surprised me there.
Mission overall: Obvious, but very appropriate map. It was fun, but Gideon was a bit of a let-down.
Mission 2:
I think one of the main things that's getting you with commas is putting one before every conjunction. For example, in your contact's opening text you do exactly that. Don't worry, I suffer from comma over-use as well, it can just be a little distracting for some people, that's all. His dialogue read a little awkward to me this time, not sure how you'd go about fixing that except to go back through it and see if any places where a re-write would be appropriate strike you. Into the mission!
One error here: Find the Meddler and put and clean
Mission's going pretty smooth. I got confused by the appearance of the two prisoners but hey. Now I'm staring at Numina and resisting the urge to cry, as this no doubt will hurt... a lot. Yeah, can't quite take her down with my Scrapper. Suppose I'll switch to Blightlord at this point (Level 50 Necro/Poison/Soul Mastermind) to also ease my worries of killing Longbow and such as a hero. One thing: Is Numina really right for this part? It seems to me as if she would know better than to tamper with the time stream. Yeah, even the Mastermind is hitting a large road block with her... Starting to get a tad frustrated at this point.
Ack. At this point I literally cannot finish your arc due to Numina. Between the two characters I've taken five whacks at her. As stated in the rules of the thread (Which I know is lost :/) I have to call this review to a halt. I've done my best, trying two different types of characters both types (up front and safe firing distance) on either lowest or second to lowest difficulty and have been stopped by this same EB. I'll go ahead and give you the recap off of what I've done so far.
Overall: The arc had a very nice premise, though the way some things were carried out (Gideon, Numina) didn't do it for me. It was perfectly fine/fun until I reached Numina who is always a tough one to fight and she pounded me. Go over your dialogue for your contact again, check those commas, consider using the actual Mako for your Gideon NPC and reconsider if Numina is right for that arc.
Overall, I give it a 3/5, which actually isn't all that heavily impacted by my EB issues. Thanks for your own play of my arc, and I wish you the best!

(Mekk, you're up next) -
After an unplanned hiatus (sp?) from the game, I return to repay the arcs I promised to review, only now it seems as if the thread was wiped at some point, leaving me in a rather unfortunate position. I still have a list of usernames here, but I don't have their arcs anymore. The list as I have it is:
1. Geekboy
2. Dark Aspect
3. Mekkanos
4. Shield Shocker
5. Te Cham(eleon?)
6. Mirror Man
7. Mrs.AlphaOne
Those are the ones who I got confirmation as having played one of my arcs. The rest below I have not, but at this point am perfectly willing to review anyway, since I feel rather terrible about my absence without word to anyone.
Dutch
Wall of Knight
Aracade
El Condor
Casual Player
If any of these people want to step forward with an arc (Except Alpha, I have hers and will post a review shortly) I'll be glad to repay them.
