    Two things...

    [ QUOTE ]
    1. We're looking into the tweak to Endurance for mobs that's affected Endurance Drain abilities. Sorry about that!

    2. We'll be putting in a check that prevents "one shotting"; if anything occurs within a fraction of second that brings a player from 100% Hit Points down to 0, we instead give the player 1% Hit Points.

    That's all for now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Erm thanks for the 1 HP but yeah Inferno DoT, Ice Cold Damage, EB, the unnoficial Energy AS follow-up? No one-shotting like that is a start but hardly gonna make a difference with most situations.
  2. Odd. I used to (with IR Goggles) only be able to see Stalkers without Super Speed, or at least it seeemed that way. Oh well.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
The stalker doesn't always placate. Sometimes he follows up with an immediate quick damage attack to take out the blaster fast.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats why you hit the greens right after AS. Then he'll say "Crap ok whatever" and use Placate.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Another tactic is to pop the green after AS (quick reflexes needed), select the stalker and hit an attack as they placate. Since you queued the attack it'll go off anyway, knocking em outta hide and allowing you to wail on em. Work out how many greens to hit to survive the 2 hit combo but still have defiance running.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That will break Placate and make em run but it may not kill em. Most Stalker I fight use Super Speed for that extra stealth bonus. Also what if you miss? Now you have no time left for the Nuke! Nice alternative though.
  5. I am going to have to preview this post so much

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

Not to mention the Energy stalkers have a hold (whose genius idea was that?). And if you've ever gotten to duel a Stalker with them agreeing to not use hide, you know they're defenses can be slotted to make them a royal pain to fight.

    [/ QUOTE ]
How are you gonna ask a stalker to not use hide in an arena match

    [/ QUOTE ]

He wanted to prove he could kill people without hide. His defenses were slotted so well I could barely touch him! It was a consensual dual that had some restrictions (I had to give up a power as well)
    [ QUOTE ]
Stalkers' core power is hide, that is how their AT was built and works,

    [/ QUOTE ]

And that is the only real problem with Stalkers. They work perfectly but in their perfection they are VERY difficult to fight. Any tweaking could satisfy the complainers but break the Stalkers.

    [ QUOTE ]
there are ways around this ie Tactics, Drones, and ofcourse yellows.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Read my guide again. Some people can't/won't change their powerset and there is no magic "Fill My Tray With Yellows!" button so this is a way to play without those.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

_Castle_ suggested running backwards when you hear build up go off and while that may work, the way you have your volumes set and if the Stalker hits build up right behind you or just before he reaches you can stop his strategy.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Finally, I hope all those nerf stalker haters, read this the secret combination to avoid AS is actually hitting the buttons W, A, S, or D.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The thing with the CoX power execution is, while the Stalker is crouching for the attack, that is just yor chance to interrupt him. Once he has AS started you have not much to do cept A. Interrupt him, or B. run backwards. I think the point of moving backwards is you will bump into the Stalker and interrupt him. Moving forwards you'll just look really cool as you die.
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

Most people say you need perception and to see them BEFORE AS goes off this is true. But what about if you don't want to or aren't able to take Leadership? Not every Blaster has a perception power and inspirations don't stay on forever.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Thats why there is an insp vendor in the pvp zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But in zones like Warburg your Inspiration Vendor was the contact and you may have already outleveled him before I6 came out.
    [ QUOTE ]
And, thats why you group with someone which does have tactics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Assuming that there is always a person of the same faction in the zone with Tactics who will always keep it running without fail with you always being in its range and that you'll see the Stalker(s) in time EVERY time to stop AS. (long intake of breath )

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

So you're minding your own business, picking on the Corrupters and such when WHAM! you see the bid red letters spelling ASSASSIN STRIKE and your health turns red. The Stalker then follows up with his second attack and you're dead.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I prefer da tp foe bu ET placate AS, but only stalkers who know what they are doing do that. (this process varies from player to player)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally I think that would make you an easier target to let us know you're there first by using TP foe but I have never fought someone using that strategy.
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

Stalkers are squishy. Only 1 out of 10 are regen so 8 out of 10 will die (depends on how highly defense is slotted which is why Aim is a recommended power). If that didn't kill him use that End inspiration and quickly follow up with you're short range high damager and dance on his corpse!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Dont forget that the whole time u r a squishie too and that us EM stalkers have disorients n stuns and repels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats why I said you may wanna bring Break Frees.

    [ QUOTE ]
thats just a minor reason, the main 1 is u won't hit us cuz of the very common /nin, /sr, /ea templates.(well atleast the ones where the player knows what hes doin heh =)

    [/ QUOTE ]

*cough Aim and Build Up Accuracy Bonus cough*
    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

Like every Stalker strategy there are downsides and all seem to require Inspirations. This strategy also requires your being in Warburg and your nuke being recharged. This was done on a fire Blaster whose DoT damage was able to finish off some more resilient Stalkers so additional end and maybe acc insps may be needed to finish your foe. When Recluses Victory comes, Rise of the Pheonix will become a Stalker's nightmare if you slot for a nice disorient. Just remember one thing about Stalkers, if you can keep them from going back into hide, you can kill em.

    [/ QUOTE ]
ok hehe, my final critique, notice how the name of your guide is Killing Stalkers for Blasters Without Perception and using acc inspirations (i.e. yellows) buffs your +perceptions. But overall, I think that your guide isn't too bad, and its good to see someone trying to find a new approach to surviving against us stalkers. WTG bro =)

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Acc Insps at the end there aren't for Perception. Just so you can hit them! And thanks!
  6. [ QUOTE ]
nitpick: stalkers don't have holds. They do have status effects on their melee attacks though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry. I know they use some Total Focus like power. Maybe its a stun. Slot that for a long lasting effect though and it might as well be.
  7. Just goin down the list here.

    [ QUOTE ]
I think it's great that you are trying to figure out ways to win against stalkers but there are so many limitations on this it's not even funny.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is why Stalkers are difficult to kill. Some can't/won't change their build for Perception and Accuracy Inspirations need to be bought. If you're in Warburg you'd have to leave the zone if you were already 39+ when I6 came out and you'd lose any codes you had collected.

    [ QUOTE ]
The only nukes I'm familiar with are from my fire corruptor and blaster and my AR blaster ( AR and Elec are kinda screwed here) and the fire nuke has a good delay before it goes off.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is why you do it as you see them slowly disappear and run at you from Placate. AS has a delay to and if they hit it to soon after moving in they'll be interrupted giving you MORE time for Inferno to go off.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also, 3/4 of the stalker secondaries have excellent AoE defense even out of hide and the 1 that doesn't is regen. I guess if this is all you can really do then it's not bad advice but I wouldn't feel confident using this tactic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is why I said use Build Up and/or Aim. Both give an accuracy bonus and should be large enough to let you hit the Stalker. I haven't missed yet and there are no acc (yet) slotted into my nuke (waiting for a few more HO's.)

If you don't feel confident with this tactic thats understandable. It takes a little practice and a little luck but when you see that Stalker on the ground your work had paid off. Even if for the rest of the night he chases you and never leaves you alone (I've had this happen. Careful bout ruining a Stalker's PvP 1337 feel )
  8. This has worked every time I've done it. It'll take you having a decent nuke (WAIT DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE THIS GUIDE!) and an inspiration or 3.

Stalkers are a Blaster's (or any other squishy's) worst nightmare. If they don't one shot you the first time the second attack always is too close behind it for you to run.

Not to mention the Energy stalkers have a hold (whose genius idea was that?). And if you've ever gotten to duel a Stalker with them agreeing to not use hide, you know they're defenses can be slotted to make them a royal pain to fight.

_Castle_ suggested running backwards when you hear build up go off and while that may work, the way you have your volumes set and if the Stalker hits build up right behind you or just before he reaches you can stop his strategy.

My guide doesn't require pereception, just get in that paranoid state of mind and remember you're in a PvP zone which means its filled with Stalkers using the /hide command.

Ok so here is what you need: End inspirations, Health inspirations, build up and/or aim, a good damage Nuke.

So you're minding your own business, picking on the Corrupters and such when WHAM! you see the bid red letters spelling ASSASSIN STRIKE and your health turns red. The Stalker then follows up with his second attack and you're dead.

That is what USED to happen every time. Lets try it again. Picking on Corrupters, the big WHAM! and now... pop those health inspirations! good now as he placates you for shot 2 hit build up/aim watch him fade and close in then nuke him!

Stalkers are squishy. Only 1 out of 10 are regen so 8 out of 10 will die (depends on how highly defense is slotted which is why Aim is a recommended power). If that didn't kill him use that End inspiration and quickly follow up with you're short range high damager and dance on his corpse!

I have an interesting memory. I can forget certain things in seconds, but others will stick with me forever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Weird, me too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Me three. Interestingly, its always moments were I'm asked, "Now tell me exactly what happened."

I'm also now waiting for the revival of the Hellion complaint thread.
  10. I was always mad that the Skulls never seemed to have a leader for me to kill. Now I realize I've killed at least one of em a dozen times (i have altitis yes) so now for a hellion leader.... and the Rikti dictator!

I love endolphins - I wonder if they sell them at Pocket D now that the event is on the test server? Humm - I'll have to go look.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was really fun. I loved the missions, was confusing trying to figure out how to talk to the villain contact when he wouldnt answer me. Didn't figure it out for a couple min. I love the badge I got doing it. Definitely my kind of badge

    ...yet another unkept promise.

The Devs haven't said boo about getting Community Representatives for Archetypes other than Stalkers. Oh, and before you mention that _Castle_ picked up the Defender issues--he dumped them a few weeks later.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I did? Funny, I still read them every day.

Oh, and I'm going to look at Blasters now that I've gone through the consolidated Defenders bug list. You guys got one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I want the secondaries looked at. Energy seems fine and Devices is good for the right kind of player but the others need a little fixing. Maybe more conserve energy type powers? and keep aim and build up of course.

I've been playing COH for a year now and reading the boards but haven't made too many posts. I'm wondering what people think of the MMO's if you look at them from the perspective of a popular culture phenomenon. I see a return in many ways to D&D type scenarios with COH/COV, in that people can communicate with one another. Unlike the console based RPG's like Final Fantasy, Zelda, etc on Nintendo, Playstation, and XBOx (the non-online versions). Is this a good thing or does it mean that the genre has been co-opted by mainstream tourists? What do you think?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is, I think, a place for some interesting discussion on MMOs in the game space. Traditionally, games have been social activities - you get together with a bunch of friends and have fun. Pen & paper games, board games, card games, sports, etc. are all about that.

For a number of years, though, computer games have been primarily a single-player experience.

MMOs seem to move us at least one step back towards "games as social activities." A good friend of mine & game designer believes that board games are coming back into the mainstream, and aren't just for kids (and families) anymore.

It certainly seems like they (MMOs and online console games) are becoming an accepted sphere in which to play games (have "meaningful fun") with friends.

I think it's too early to tell whether MMOs will have real long-term endurance in mainstream culture ... or whether they'll be more fad-like ... but then 5.5 million WoW players can't be wrong, can they?

    cheers,
    Arctic Sun

    [/ QUOTE ]

Depends. How many of the 5.5 mil hang out only in the Barrens?

    [ QUOTE ]
Glad you liked it! Be sure to let everyone on the boards know that there will be absolutely no difference between the Korean version and the US/EU version of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    O RLY?

Maybe no big differences, but there is at least one cosmetic difference. This screenshot is on the Korean site, presumably from the beta if it hasn't launched yet. Admittedly it's from an altered demofile, but there is clearly a blue flag on top of Atlas instead of the US flag.

    CONSPIRACY!!!!!!111eleventyone!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Theres also a picture of TWO actual statesman costumes, a guy has a leg robe, and when did behemoths get the lava rock armor? i know in CoH beta there were pics of DE rampaging in Atlas but with special powers?

If the weird liquify teleport that Mirror Spirit was doing is implemented, I foresee a huge wave of Alex Mack characters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Id be a little surprised if anyone remembered Alex Mack. I didn't even think of her when mirror did the liquid tp.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    Fun. Maybe I'll submit something.

    Just a question:

    A) Is it okay to write about villains as well as heroes?
    B) What exactly does "PG" entail? I'm not up to date with american rating systems (and at any rate they're fairly different from our european sensibilities) What would be the limits?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No sex or nude descriptions. Also on kissing or making out don't go into full detail to be safe.

Also I hope you like mine Arctic, just sent it in *crosses fingers*
  19. Yay! I wonder what the extra bonus is though besides more exp/infamy. A temp power? Him as your arena slave? I must know the secret! *goes more insane than normal*

And two: ¿Why no mention about their feud with the Outcasts? Both gangs seem to hate each other for something more than simple territorial issues. Yet the origin of this hate has never been explained (at least to my knowledge)

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's explained in a round about way in the game fiction. The Trolls work for the Family as part of the Superadine distribution ring. The Outcasts work for the Warriors as part of the magic artifacts black market. The Warriors and the Family encourage their subordinate gangs to fight each other in an effort to encroach on each others territory without risking their own men.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And the Tsoo hate them all!

    [/ QUOTE ]

But don't Tsoo negotiate with Outcasts?

And Skulls make Superadine trades with Trolls, gotta remember that.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Same with Hellions for artifacts. I loved that arc how it lniked almsot every gang together in a beautiful circle of hate, stealing, and blood.... *notices strange looks he's getting* what?
