Thanks for the input guys. I did a few AE runs just to see how my build would stand up to a good bit of damage (+2/6) and I'm very happy with it. That's only with the 5 sets of Oblit slotted and no recharge except for those in the sets. Once I get all the Kinetic Combat and LoTGs, I have no doubt I'll be even more pleased.
I haven't played this since I made it when CoV first came out. I also have no other brutes. I'm just having so much fun with fury ATM that I was very much loling on that map. Got a friend a few levels on her scrap in a short amount of time
I have a Invul/SS tank that can run this mish all day long and laugh at the damage, but when it comes to damage output, this brute just makes my tank look silly. -
I find my power choices much better spent in other areas, rather than a nuke on my defenders.

Here's one I have for max recharge. It's not cheap, but very fun solo or on teams. Remember to add FFG values to the defense numbers.

Hello folks, need some advice if you please
I'm thinking of dusting this character off and came up with a few builds I'm thinking of going with. I was hoping to come up with something that would do well on teams, as well as solo.
I have one that's soft capped to S/L and melee, but the lack of energy and negative defense is lacking, so I'm also looking at something that's kinda of a middle ground.
The first build has decent overall defense, and 1 luck will put me over the softcap to a lot of damage types. I'm also assuming on teams with buffs/debuffs this will be enought.
The second build, while great in the the above mentioned areas, is lacking in others. I love the recharge and acc as well.
I know if I just wanted run ITF all day long I'd go with the second build, but that's no fun. I pretty much have my mind set on the first build as of now. My only real worry with it is the lack of acc in my single target attacks.
Any thoughts on improving either are welcome.
Oh yeah, the first build is gonna be cheaper as well.

I don't have a Psi/mm, but I'd go sonic/mm just because when you fight something that resists PSI (robots) you'll feel gimped. Plus you get the debuff secondary effect with sonic. Just my opinion.

1) break free from the mez
2) have 56-60% res from all but psionics
3) heal 67% of my hp (which are buffed by 75% already)
4) hit my most dangerous foe with 26% def debuff with my ST attacks
5) knockdown all melee foes, which gives me enough time to
6) shift back to human and toggle up
Granted, it takes about 8.5 seconds to get through that chain, but I am ok with that. At the end, I am more buffed and my enemies more debuffed. And I hate just sitting there, unable to do anything while mezzed. This keeps me busy. I like busy. My warshade is busy, and my pb is jealous.

Looking strictly at the numbers you'd do better to build E/N defense once S/L is taken care of... F/C is much less valuable. Along the same lines the Mako's Bite set offers primarily ranged defense with only 1.8% E/N... not a bad choice but you may be able to do better. I'd swap the Aegis in your armors for more Reactive Armor sets to boost the E/N and if you're keeping Hurl the Thunderstrike set offers a nice boost to E/N defense.
Purples really aren't all that beneficial to a tanker; they don't offer bonuses you really have a strong need for. From a price/performance standpoint they're a terrible option... you can accomplish the same thing much cheaper.
As far as that -KB proc, I only slotted that for AoE defense.
I switched those Aegis out and put Thunderstrike in Hurl. Nice results.

First off, this thread is great. I love all the info given. Thanks folksl.
Now, I want to ask if you can give me some pointers on the build I'm thinking of going with. I've seen better here, but I don't want to spend that much on the build. Prolly not going to play it as much as other characters.
A question I have is, do you think I have enought ACC/To-hit with rage and set bonuses? Is my end going to be a problem?
As I've said, I've seen other builds here that are better. I like one more so than mine (23Xs), but I just don't want to put that much into 4 purple sets as my drops suck currently.
Doh! Forgot to mention I was only looking for set bonuses, I'll have to adjust for the respec as to get the most of exing.

Skipping Death Shroud is a bad idea if you're trying to improve your damage output. It's your best AoE attack. Seriously. It's an AoE attack for single-target endurance. What's not to like, other than the difficulty of fitting in? I haven't run the numbers, but I'm guessing that you'd be better off just swapping out Slice in favor of Death Shroud, and using Whirling Sword or Parry as your filler attack when Hasten is down.
The global recharge does help you spam Whirling Sword, and I suppose the Eradication set bonuses combined with a fairly-good +76% recharge enhancement make it the best choice IF you're willing to suck down the blues.
And I think that's a big drawback, at least for me. You're going to be sucking down a lot of blues. That's fine if you're ready for it. Might just be a play style difference.
The other big drawback of the build for me is that it drops below the soft cap in ranged and AoE defense. You'll be taking 2.5x more damage from ranged and AoE than a soft-capped build. But it sounds like you're intentionally making that trade for better damage output. That's fine. I just want to make sure you're going in with eyes wide open.
The other main thing that global recharge helps with is Dark Regeneration. However, you only have it slotted for +48% recharge. Seems like a waste. I'll also give the same comment I gave before to ClawsandEffect - you don't really need to enhance Dark Regeneration for Heal in normal play. He did it, and I did it, and if you like to be able to handle single, difficult targets, maybe you should too. But in general, not recommended.
It does look like you took care of any accuracy problems, with all attacks at least 108% against +4s, giving you some wiggle room for defense or to-hit debuffs.
The Parry slotting looks particularly strange to me. The only big, important set bonus you're getting is melee defense, but you're already over the soft cap with one hit of Parry, so it's doing very little for you. And if you do want more melee defense out of the power than the soft cap, actually enhancing the defense in the power will do more for you than trying to pick up a small set bonus. How about five Crushing Impacts (all but damage/recharge) and the Luck of the Gambler global? Still soft-capped, 5% more global recharge, 7% more global accuracy, better damage enhancement, better accuracy enhancement. You lose 5 hit points, but I think it's totally worth it.
Probably just a mistake, but swap out the Aegis res/end/rech for res/end. You probably don't need recharge in a toggle.
(Edit: Further concerns just from reviewing what you didn't like about the original.- While you have the accuracy to fight above +2, I doubt that your survivability has improved, and if it has (through better recharge of Dark Regeneration), not to the point of doing +4x8 easily.
- You might be able to handle some AVs, but I suspect you'll still be chugging the blues to do it.
- If you add Death Shroud, I think your AoE will be pretty decent, but you still won't be taking out large spawns at a good rate. Perhaps about as fast as you realistically can, though. I just wouldn't get your hopes up TOO high.
As I said before, I really like your original build. I'll prolly go good enought for now, until I can stand to part with that much influence. As for my +4/8 remark, I guess you misunderstood me, I have no plans to use this build for farming, just trying to convey how underperforming the set is in respect others.
Actually, I'd prolly scrub this altogether if it wasn't the first character I created when I started playing the game. He'll be 5 in a month

It's effectively price-capped, because the inf cap is 2 billion and therefore you can't bid more than that. -
While I'm not at softcap to everything I've found this build very easy to live with. Good recharge and damage. I like having the S/L resistance. The biggest problem I've had so far is Psi. That was on a farm though.

Thanks to both Iggy and Werner on following up. I did look at your build as well Werner, also did a quick check at WW's for a few of the PvP enhancements. I knew they'd cost an arm and a leg, boy oh boy! My first look was at the Gladiator. 2 billion seems to be the going price today. While I could come up with that much, to me it's a bit of a stretch for one enhancement. So much for going that route
Anyway, I did like the build except I also wanted to keep my big hitters (Disembowel,Headsplitter) I do team most of the time so I'm hoping with the build I've put together it'll be ok. I'd like to know your thoughts on what I have, and what you think needs changing.
Maybe one day I'll get that Gladiator for the extra 3% defense

I don't personally have a BS/DA, all I was doing was trying to improve on the previous build.
If I were to build for one, it would include some purps which would improve the accuracy and recharge and it'll probably be Katana.
So apologies for any kind of inconvenience that the build had cost you...
Not at all your fault, it's mine for not taking into account how slow BS is. As far as an inconvenience, this just teaches me a lesson. I'll reroll it with all the respecs I've never used on it, no worries.
I'm trying to come up with a build that can use most of what I have from yours, while getting some recharge and ACC. I'll post back when I'm happy with it. -

I've purchased a game card a time or 2. Make sure that 8 isn't a B, or a 5 an S. If nothing else get a magnifying glass and go over it. I don't like NCs game cards for this reason.

Unless you're really hurting for more FPS, I'd say wait 6 months until Nvidia has their new GPU out. By then Intel and AMD will have done the same in the CPU/GPU market. In that time you can maybe save a few more dollars and get both a new video card and CPU for what you'd pay for just one of those now.
I doubt either of those you currently have in your system will measure up to what's in store for GR............ I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Second mission I do pretty much the same thing at each cryst. If we have a tank or tough brute/scrapper I'll follow on their heals. After the second mission it gets even easier....... -

I own an Nvidia 8800 GT 512 and I crash once in a while. I count myself lucky as I bought one that had a superior cooler installed from the factory. It's served me well for 2 years. I'm no fanboy of either ATI or Nvidia, and since ATI has made some very nice improvements in their OpenGL support, my next card will prolly be one of theirs. Unless you have money to burn the HD 5870 may be a bit pricey, a good alternative would be to grab the 5850 instead. It's not all that much slower, and even when GR comes out you'll probably still be able to turn everything to max settings. If you go NVidia I'd wait for the prices to drop first. As of yet they haven't gone down much, only because the new ATI cards are a bit hard to find.
BTW,The maximum memory used by XP 32 bit is 3.25 gigs.
I'm not sure it's been mentioned, but you can use task manager to clear your memory if ya want or need. Just do the control, alt ,delete as had been mentioned. Then in the apps tab find CoHs, right click and minimize the game and then maximize it again. You've just freed up memory. -
I was going to roll one, and then we got traps as a primary. I may roll one in the future if I get bored.
