    Why would you even do Hami now?

    The time isn't worth the reward anymore. Not when you can do the STF with only 8 people and you can do it twice to get your HO and Rare, and do it in a whole lot less time. Some may say its for the recipies but just doing missions will get you those.

    The time to organize and get a raid going alone and youll be done or half way through the STF, much less tring to get 50 ppl togather to kill all the monsters and then fight hami. O man ya not even worth it.

    And with the new IO's and sets why even worry about HO's they are barly par anymore. You can make IO's that are just as good or better than HO's and the bonuses from the sets in your powers far out dose HO's.

    Hami is just like the Octipus in IP, Kraken in PP, and the big stone guy in Creys Folly to name a few. GMs running around and not worth the time or effort to kill. Hell getting the badges is the only reason to even do them anymore.

    I must agree with one of the other posters. The devs have nerfed the player toons and buffed the NPC's all the while telling us well its easier to take to much and then buff up than the other way around. And you know ill buy that but.... were are the buffs and fixes to the sets that way under preform. O like claws for scrappers, really I undestand that they just "fixed" claws but really wow its such a under preformer to all the other sets that ill never build another one. And to those that built there claws scrappers before the "fix" WOW my hat is off to you. Or oo lets get into Dark Blast only one power is really worth getting in that set and thats the tenticels. I mean talking about a set that underpreforms.

    The leadership at Cryptic is so worried about getting to work on the new issues that they are not even fixing the problems that are already there and have been sence the game started. Im sry but im getting tired of the "well theres so much on our plate" answer it makes me sick. The only one that makes me more mad is when you report a bug and get "Well were sorry you are having problems and we are sry to see you go. We hope that you will come back and join us at another time." At no time do you threaten to leave or anything. I mean what the hell kind of answer is that to a bug report. I have gotten 5 of those emails and now one of my SG mates just got the same letter. I mean really what kind of Co. says please help us and report your bugs and when you do tell you to quit????

    As for the stealth pool well that has been broken for a while in PvE and according to the tell I got from Castle they arnt even talking about much less taking action to fix it.

    Not tring to be negative, rant, troll, or flame the devs or anything like that, im saying that maybe they need to reexamine a few things. I will say in closing that I9 has added a lot of good stuff to CoX and will make the game more enjoyable but in the same breath Ill say get ready for the next round of nerfs because after looking at the level of power you will be able to run a toon at with the new sets theres lots coming.

    I guess I see it very simple on this one. Go with the system that you are and there will be many ways to exploit it and make many people very unhappy with you the Devs.

    Or make it so you can see and buy from who you want and no griefing and everyone is happy the only expliot is a perk feature that the fan base has been begging for a long time. And you the Devs look like the good guys.

    I guess I could go into a long explanation on why one is a bad idea and the other is better but Matt and the dev team are reasonable smart people Im sure they have gone over it. I just dont understand why they always take the hard road even if it causes them problems in the long run. Sometimes the easiest solutions are the best. But thats just MHO.

    But that being said, Please Matt in all honesty, I would like to know Cryptics thoughts on why they are planing on going with this system (remeber people its in closed beta and can totally change from what it is now). please! pretty please!
  4. Been having a LOT!!! of game errors sence I8. But with new patch everything seemed to be going great, (less lag, FPS good, all that) tell half the servers went down
  5. I just wanted to add this in for you guys. (the Devs) I played on a group of 6 last night and was having horrid frame rate problems. Then my buddie who was playing a Plant dom had to take a break. While he was gone I had no drop in frame rate. The game ran great. Then when he returned and hit even his single target hold, BOOM there went my frame rate right down the tolet. And when he let loose with a Crawler OMG basicly I get in one hit and then fight is over before lock up ends. It seemed to be the tenticles, if I could turn away from them or they went down because the mobs were dead the frame rate went back up. I have also noticed that this happens with Warmth from corruptors, just not quite as bad.

  6. Actully I hope they dont add fear to Fire/Fire of any kind. If i want them to run i use RoF, and in most groups you get yelled at for using it on a team. Adding fear to the set would just make it usless for teaming, better for solo but youll never find teams.
    I mean who wants to go chasing a whole crowd down just because I Fireballed or FCS. Because you know its not going to be the just stand there and be scared fear like dark its going to be the Burn fear, and we all know how great that is

    My guess would be because fire is mainly damage with only DoT as a effect. With others you get drains, kb, slows and that. I would think it would be much easier to tweak as a starting point before diving it to the others.

    Well in CoV I have had lag/load time problems sence it started. That is why i dont play it (waste of $30). And CoH only sence the last issue. The best part of the lag with CoV is the longer I play the worse it gets so just a guess off the top of my head but that tells me sloppy code. I mean really who cares how cool they can get the graphics if due to bad code you cant play it anyways. In all the time i have played i have only heard maybe a dozen people say they dont have lag, get huge burps or ruberbanding. And even they do get some they say they dont but when one of those big burps happens they are usally the first to sound off about it. But hay I dont have a top of the line comp just a little 2.5 ghz, 1 GB RAM, Nvidia 6600gt system with high speed internet. CoX is the only game/anything I every have problems with online, but its must be me not the game. (not directed at you Lady just a rant)

    Yep its a much better game. Less people to play with while at the same time making soloing for a lot of toons imposable. Uping the graphics while making the load times and lag much worse. More nerfs to players while buffing the cons to point were you have to have a full team and 40 min to kill a AV/Monster/Hero. Yep been here sence I2 and wow do I enjoy this City of CR@P over City of Heros\Villians. Can you feed me some more please I think im begining to enjoy the aftertaste. NOT!

    Actually no. I played with other MM's and asked them to watch for it. It appears to happen while solo and not when teamd. look at your punks from all angles as they are fighting to see this occur.

    My update for this weekend so far is that they gun animations tends to dissapear if one of two things happen. (1) The target dies mid shot (2) they lose agro of the target mid shot. My MM also had the guns disappear mid shot because the target died before the gun went off.

    (While Defensive) The thugs also lose agro easily. If the foe starts to miss you or them they just stop and stand there until someone gets hit.

    The MM pet description says that they "will not run out of melee range to use range attacks". Well they forgot to read the memo, cause they've been doing that all weekend.

  11. My notes on thugs:

    I have a level 17 Thug/Poison MM and have been playing with a friend at level 10 and he was level 15. By level 14 he was level 16 and I was adding more to group. Fighting +4 cons I could not truly defend myself (to much damage when they hit me) but my thugs worked just fine killing and taking aggro from them. I am now 17 and he is 18. But even when we were 5 levels apart and the cons were +7 my thugs could help take aggro and live to tell about it. Not as a main aggro grabber but they help pull cons off me and help in a couple rather nasty 3 group aggro spots. Due to the lack of AoE, Cone, single target and End cost to heal ratio of Poison I am going with dark on live that is what my friend is and I like the way dark works better. Here is what I have noticed in 17 levels

    General:

    The whistle has to go, its fine for like one pet but not for all. A snap of the fingers or call on the phone would be some good choices.

    The magazine for the first upgrade needs to be changed to hand gun magazine or the tossing of a second gun is a great idea too.

    As far as the pets changing looks every summoning, don’t see that changing much but what I would like to see is the ability to choice from the basic 3 body types for pets, for all MM. Female/normal/huge, that way they could do all female gangs or big bruiser or what ever I think that would be great change. Probably would be a nightmare for devs and undoable but that would truly rock.

    When I am in the jail cell in mayhem missions and I summon my pets to attack door to get out it breaks into about a 1/3 of the time thing. 1/3 they wont attack, 1/3 they pull a phase shift and go out of cell and attack door (have had them get stuck when they do it and cant attack door, have to resummon them and start over, and 1/3 they attack the door.

    I find they do get stuck easy and run off when I tell them to stay and get in fights and bring me aggro and… haha ya the AI on them needs work out a little.

    I have noticed that no matter the mode I am in or how I attack with my pets in what combo what ever, when facing Longbow they will most of the time forgo my pets and just attack me. While this is a great techneque, mms are to weak to be able to take the damage of a full group of longbow by themselves, (meaning without pets) and all you get is debt.

    Personal guns:

    Agreed the Empty Clips needs to be different. I like the idea of it being 10 shots in the cone with 10 ticks of less damage but same damage over all great idea.

    The end use on Empty Clips seems to be a little high for the damage to me.

    The “gangster” like animation of the first power is pretty good. The sound is a little week but that is ok I think it’s a size thing. My friend has a huge body type and they look like toys in his hands while mine is female and they look like .50 cal Desert Eagles. For him the sound works, for mine it seems way underpowered.

And fyi to those that think that the side shot is a less acc way of shooting they are wrong, actually when shooting single handed off hand (your non dom hand) most people find it much more accurate, and there for I think not only goes better with the Gangster look but is more believable.

    First tier pet:

    Yes the casings coming out of a revolver do kind of bug me, so I would go with automatic for them.

    Second tier pet:

    There is a bug in the animation on mine. The animations for the second gun are reversed so I get a flash out of the ejection port and the casings all go flying forward. Cool looking but kind of weird looking too.

    The sound of the guns for this guy I really like sounds like silenced sub pistols and I think that would be a cool add silencers onto there guns for one of the upgrades or that.

    That’s were I stand so far. Getting ready to get 3rd first tier pet and gang war. So far from my what I have seen from my friends the 3rd one rocks but the gang war is way underpowered in damage and the time they are summoned for how long it takes to recharge is a bit much. And they seem to be very stupid and don’t attack that much if anything I would think it would be the oppisate in that you wouldn’t have that much control on them they would just wade into anything they came across. Like a control on directing were they go but they attack anything in range. Hope this helps.
  12. You know I don’t like the fact that hurricane is being nerfed because of PvP, but I am not surprised. The only real way it will affect me is I most likely wont be taking it with my ice/storm now because all I was getting it for was the KB. The debuff wasn’t even a thought really because my build is designed to stop groups from being able to attack not debuff them so the cant hit. So it goes into the list of what I call useless powers, that being defined as powers dose an effect that can be done more effectively by another power. Guess the extra slot goes to Gale.

    Now what dose/has worried me is that the path they have chosen. Now every issue is a big "O I wonder what they are going to nerf next" and even the new powers are "O that wont last long before it is nerfed". There has been very poor use of pre existing zones i.e. danger zones (For evidence I give hollows compared to every other danger zone. I mean how long have people been asking for a TF for the ship in crash site?). And the general attitude of the MMO creators right now of "it’s our game and those that play have no rights but to pay, shut up, and play."(That is a real quote or close to from a dev from a major MMO in an article about MMOs in CGW and it was agreed upon by almost everyone interviewed). I am not saying that this is the general attitude of Cryptic but I do see how it has creped in.

    Personally I feel (and I know feel is subjective) that the turmoil that Joe Shmoe is reading on these boards is costing them. The casual player that they are so fond of saying they are catering to is starting to get tired of having to rebuild there toon every few months or less. A lot of the new people I have played with are here because of friend and they are leaving, so now they are planning on leaving too. And you know every single person that I have played with and that has left has never truly been because of a nerf to a power (a couple have) but most have sited lack of content. So maybe just maybe next issue (we all knew this was going to be a CoV issue) it will be the start of all content issues. And we can start making more people happy and they will start staying. Personally, from past trends I don’t see this happening but I will hope for the best.

    I like many that others I have talked to are waiting for I8 to see what the devs do now that they have there “balanced vision” and there “no more major nerfs we have everything just about were we want it” Basically I guess its like this Dev team, more content (using zone you have, making more non PvP zones, and new powers/AT’s, ect..) and I stay, keep spending all your time trying to figure out how to nerf powers and I and many others go very loudly into that good night. I am not calling devs out, giving ultimatums, or anything like that. What I am trying to tell you is, you have nerfed a lot of fun out of the game and its time to start putting a lot more fun back in even if it isn’t totally balance. Its been 2 years now and i feel like i have been Beta testing for you for that time instead of playing a finished evolving game. And im sry but i starting to feel like you should pay me.

    Sry to all for long windedness of this post but this nerf is a small part of a larger problem.

  13. well my 2 cents is, and this is only imo(and most of my friends), but i wouldnt build a defender now if you payed me. The inherent power sux so bad its usless, and the lack of real damage really cripples them for solo. Empathy or a Dark is the only real reason to do a defender now, and Emp isnt really that good anymore. If you want a toon that will be more help in a group then go with a controller. Even solo they are much better. They make up for all those short comings with powers that will help a group much more than any defender ever could.

    I figured this out when i played healer for a herding (o no a bad word) tank with my ill/kin controller. He had a lvl 50 hami o'ed Emp/psy healing for him before i took over. He had died a couple times like always happens. But once i took over, not once did he even come close to biting it and he killed much faster. It was a learning exp for both of us, but to this day he prefers controllers to defenders on his missions.

    But thats just my 2 cent...

    Ok sry on this one Posi. But that is just a stupid stance to take on a badge that means nothing, other than the enjoyment of people that PAY TO PLAY the game. I can understand making it a mission that might even be a little hard but to go to the extreme you are talking about well that just is showing true colors of the problem in how you (the devs) think.

    And here is another point. If you had ANY information about getting the badge in outbreak, then i might be able to see this stance on the badge. But there is NONE! I just did a throw away toon and ran it through the outbreak taking my time to read everything carefully and i found NO information about the badge at all. Its not even in my badge area so i cant even look there to see that i can get it there.

    Hell I got 4 toons to lvl 40 before i even knew that there was a badge in outbreak. Why is that?, well because there is NO info on it there.

    Providing proof to you is not worth the time. It will never change your mind, even when it slaps you in the face. So many have provided it already, and they have stated it better than i ever could.

    The best thing i can say is dont believe me and dont believe Lothart. Look it up for yourselves. I am not able to provide a lot of the proof, i dont have the pms to back them up. I know ppl that do. But im not going to ask them for them or post the few i do have here. Its a waste of time.

    I wish i could give you the Proof on like ED but that could get ppl in legal problems with Cryptic. Sucks when they send co. emails and they go to the wrong ppl isnt it...

    No it doesn't.

    It means there's a level 50 on that account. I've run into Kheldians on 6 occasions (once on Guardian, once on Infinity, and twice on both Virtue and Victory) who were kids or other family members playing on a parent's or SO's or brother's account. How many Khelds with their own 50s run headlong into Void Slayers or Nictus Shards or Dwarfs (and then [censored] about not getting any heals)? It's one of the reasons why, if I had my druthers, I'd avoid teaming with Khelds altogether (and will NEVER invite one I don't know to a team I'm putting together). That's probably the only archetype I can count my GOOD experiences with on one hand.

    Wow i feel sry for you. Not teaming with Kheld's. Have you played one? Not trying to start a flame war or anything like that. Just that i have 4 Khelds and 5 lvl 50s and I rush Headlong into Voids, Quantiums, and Novas.

    All though i dont run into dwarfs they are better killed from afar. But on the others the nova is the same damage no matter the distance and V&Q's are better to attack from close range because they go to melee and i would rather get hit by a Brawl than a Quantium Weapon. And yes I would be very upset if there were healers on the team and they didnt heal me when i did this.

    Im not saying that the ppl you played with were not new or inexperianced. All im saying is there are play styles that do work but look like the person is foolish.

    I have been acussed of being a "noob" on several occations untell i explain why i do what i do. Then most of the time they will learn and try it my way, or if might not be the right tac. for the group and we try a diff approch.

    But the best thing i can say is if you are that exp with this game then help them out most want to learn. And if you can prove your point (for the ones with thicker heads ) then that works sometimes too. The most fun i have had in this game besides herding (I just love to do it not for the exp or the inf its just one of my things and it hurts NO one) has been grabing a newbie and taking them on a wild ride of 12, 16 lvls in one night and teaching them along the way. This dose many things. One it helps them learn the game and although its better the Tutoral is still kinda lacking. Two it helps show off the game and show how fun it can be so if that person is on a trail or a firends account maybe they will join up and give us more ppl to play with. Three it helps train them for when they train other newbies. Ect..

    All im saying is just because ran into a couple and didnt understand there tac. Dont stop playing with a AT, if i did that i would never play with a blaster, always bonzi in to melee range and attack or use AoEs before group is locked down....

    You know the more i think of it your right ill never play with a blaster again damn idiot blasters

    well guys sry thats a death stamp on this subject sry, defiance works how they want, and nothing will make them changed it or fix it.
    Post your data if you want but I personaly in a year of playing CoH have never seen it made a differance on anything they have done so far, unless it was a way that something could be "exploited" they didnt think of.

    I just faced my first high lvl long bow and WOW are they over powered the group of 40s i was will well lets just say we gave up on a timed mission with longbow after most of us had 2 to 3 bars of debt. We were all very exp players all with multi 50s. So basicly posi. they are way over powered and not even close to the = reward for risk, sry but pls change them. I will hunt and put up with the high debt from that before i will face high lvl Longbow. They give me that same felling i get from malta and i never, ever do the malta missions they are just no fun.

    Tankers manage aggro better than any other Archetype. They also have the highest combination of hit points and defenses in the game. Their role is to take the brunt of a spawn's aggro just long enough in order for the rest of the team to be able to eliminate the mobs.
    Should a skilled Tanker be able to corral EVERY mob? With a lot of skill, it should be possible - but it's certainly not required to be a good Tank. As long as the Tanker can hold onto aggro so that his teammates are facing less than they'd normally face (i.e. 3 minions), then the team has an advantage. Namely, each teammate can quickly eliminate his opposition...and then come to the Tanker's aid at the end.

    I just played a Tanker with the following group (actually, at the request of a PM)...

    Inv/Fire tanker (32, SKed to 49)
    Level 50 Elec/Elec Blaster (it was his mission, set on Rugged)
    Level 32 Peacebringer (SKed to 48 or so).
    Level 48 MA/Inv scrapper
    Level 50 Fire/Kin controller
    Level 35 Earth/empathy controller (SKed up to 48)
    Level 49 Energy/energy blaster

    We faced the Carnival of Shadows. Typically, I'd start combat by Taunting any Strongmen in the spawn. I knew that I could handle their damage best. I'd usually catch some other minions and lts. I'd end up with a good 1/3 of the spawn focused on me, while the rest of my group disposed of the others. Whenever I saw a teammate enter the red, I'd either Taunt the mobs off them or hit the mobs to get their aggro.

    End result? Well, no one was that familiar with their builds. The Controller was defeated by getting too close to another spawn. The Peacebringer carelessly tossed off attacks and ended up aggroing too much. After those two defeats, we settled down and functioned fine.

    Admittedly, my own health dropped down to a 1/3 several times. I'd get a little concerned, but usually I had Dull Pain ready.

    OK had to reply to this one. Im sry Jack but you are wrong a skilled tanker cant contol mobs fine anymore! Why because you can only hold the aggro of 2 groups. And sence i am still seeing lots of cases of triple spawns in tunnels and buildings, that would make it hard to protect your group. Can a tanker still servive large groups. yep no problem in fact i havent changed my build and i can still herd +2 groups with no problem and i can do up to 4 groups and survive, no insp's nothing, thats not a problem. I know what your saying well if you cant aggro more than 2 how? That is were the skill comes in )The problem is that i can use my grav/ff controller and lock everything down in 2 groups and make a 3rd no worry tell the we are ready for them, so give me a healer, scrappers or blasters and what need is there for a tank.

    O ya and people one thing to let you know, his test is faulty. He used a Inv/ Fire tank and it has the most AoE attacks and Inv prob had taunt in it? and if you cant lock a group down with that tank you dont deserve to play a tank. not a good representation of tanks as a whole.

    So now to answer the question of this thread.

    Well the rule i would say is 5 slot on defences. i am going to test a new build for my inv tanks (just move the slots around a bit, to fit the 5 rule) and i think there will be no problems for my tanks. Ice well i cant say much about them the 2 that i have played never made it past lvl 8 because the were so weak compared to the other tanks it just wasnt worth it.

    I do have a friend that is tring out this rule with his tank and dosen't seem to be having any problems. But most of the testing has been solo or with me and my tank so hard to tell how well will work in a group but i dont expect any change in control for us (but no braging we are both very good at tanks).

    But the problem that still remains is that the number of people on the servers has dropped so badly that it is next to imposable to find a team. So even if you build a tank and do learn how to play it, Which is unlikely because there is very few experianced players left playing to teach them and to show them how to play and how a tank can be. Most will just quit because they are going to build how ED tells them to, and will spend most of there time in the hospital along with there group.

    Finally i will say this i have noticed a trend and if you want a toon that is playable and is still fairly fun to play in CoH then see what Jack is testing and most likely that will be one of the most powerful builds. ( he is board with Statesman that is why inv is taking the hit it is). I started a grav/ff controller when i found out Jack was playing a grav controller and you know what she KICK A and takes name.

    of course the question is why would you take a tank or a scrapper over to CoV and after the ED nerf why would you even play these classes. Tanks will be nothing more than brutes that dont havea damage bonus if that good and scrappers will be going down so fast they wont be any use to any one

    He has no problem soloing on Invincible (except for the expected snails pace in dealing damage) or tanking for large groups.

    Well I have 3 lvl 50 tanks, 2 inv and 1 fire i will say this unless he is only fighting -2 and -3 bad guys there is no way that tank would live long under almost any form of play i can think of and im not sure he would live long fighting the -cons unless one on one and that dont happen much after lvl 6 so....
