My vote to sonic.
Earth/sonic/psi is my fav. -
Seems there's no point in trying to help this guy, he seems not to have seen anything his liked, if he has, he sure has a weird way of showing it.
-
Honestly I have been thinkin about maybe runnin a earth/sonic/psi, I mean you get the -res -def and you got the consistent damage of psi.
So my vote is stone/sonic/psi. -

Quote:I'll take a look Lewis, give me a minute.All,
Here is a build I'm planning for my Ice/FF controller, Ocean Maid. She is already level 35 or so. I'm fairly happy with the build, and I did manage to soft cap Ranged & AOE Defense. I only have 28% on Melee, but on my typed defenses, I did soft cap Smashing/Lethal. I have 25% defense vs Psi, and I've got 38% or so against everything else. I don't have defense debuff resistance, sadly, but hey.
Anyway, my issue is that I *really* wish I had a few more slots on Shiver. I only have 1 slot in it currently. I wish I could get a second or 3rd slots. It's not a big deal, but I was wondering if anyone saw anywhere else I could have snagged some AOE/Ranged Defense in less slots, so that I'd have an extra slot or two for Shiver. I don't want to drop my epic attacks, though.
If there isn't a way, no biggie. I just figured I'd see if an extra eyes on the build might reveal something.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
Lewis

This was what I came up with if you switched to rock epic, and this is the best I could max it for def.

I can try different things if you give me your build.
When it comes to F/k's it's tough to want to build for defense since they are more angled for controlling the enemy and not so much for being bout to take or dodge a hit from them. If your looking for that kind of stuff you should look into tanks or scrappers. They have a lot easier time setting up for def and resistance while still not losing damage or recharge anywhere. -
Now I agree with local man on the subject of showing us your build, that's a good starting point, til then I will make a build for you with a few different choices on powers I'm sure you haven't taken, and you can take from that what you want from that.
-
I was wondering how to save my settings from one toon, and then copy them to a new toon I've made, please help.
-
Ah ok, I didn't know bout that, good to know. I'll check then the next time I look at a imm power. Thanks for al the help guys.
-
Now I know that kb is stopped by imm, but is it set up to where if the kb is greater than the imm, does that mean they still well fall back?
-
Quote:Though on most days I would agree, I think if he was found a build that he can use then let him be, just because he doesn't have a build that everyone else has makes no difference. Something that I've heard a lot lately is, don't hate the leader, hate the followers. That just made my day! lol
You're playing a Controller, whose primary objective is to guess what? Control! Then you go ahead and skip you're best AoE CC? haha.
As for the Ops question, I would rework the hot feet slotting and maybe rework nado too. if you want more speed, more damage per sec is needed. Taking another look I see you didn't slot cages for damage at all. Since your focusing on DoT with nado, hot feet, and cages, slot them for as much damage per sec as possible. -
Even with the tangents it still remains, the lower end rigs wouldn't run the gfx right and probably crash the game as soon as the gfx tried to animate.
-
Though this would be wicked if they could do this, I think the gfx alone would draw more, but as it stands they would have to build the engine, and then raise the min reqs for the game, and that would loose some business. So n the end, I still think grav would like better like that pic.
-
It's been stickied. it's only a matter of time til they put this in the game, I vote yay for this idea.
-
The only way I would think something is superior would be if it yielded a better method to lvling and reward droppin. On the flip side though, it shouldn't be dropped below standards cause it easier to defeat the mobs, why are they easier in the first place? Cause you can choose what powers they have? Now true it should be based on how tough, and that's the catch, just base the exp off of how many powers they have, not my the extreme, hard, medium standard.
On the bases of risk verses reward, does increasing the diff yield higher chances of getting drops or better like the topic suggests? -
I've tried this before when farming with my plant/kin, it's impossible I'm afraid, the first set of vines plays the die animation when you try to summon the second.

Ya go with dark tentacles I know that it's not the best power, but you will not be disappointed.

Quote:(Signed)First, and most importantly, pick a power set combination you find fun. The best character is the one that you have the most fun playing.
Second, download a build planner like this one. You can get an idea pretty quickly about power combinations, what level certain powers are available and how to enhancement them.
Third, do a little research. Take a read at the guides at the top of this forum. I'd say anything issue 10 or later is mostly still valid and even the earlier versions can give you an idea of what a particular power set combination is like.
Fourth, for basic questions like where to buy enhancements, etc. Visit paragonwiki.com. There are various different kinds of enhancements you can buy directly from stores: training, dual origin (DO) and single origin (SO). And some that must be crafted, invention origin (IO) or bought pre-crafted from the market (Wentworth's or Black Market). See this article for more details.
Fifth, welcome to the game.

Quote:lol I'm not going to "argue" about this on the net, waste of my time, but I will say this. I was simply joking bout the top secret build mumbo jumbo... XD It seems that people either are too lazy or just to dont want to share what they know bout farms and/or builds. You're naive if you think that it's so terribly complicated to put together a decent farming build or for that matter a high performance farming build.
This "secret build" stuff is silly. There's only a certain combination of required powers and possible IO sets that go into them. I seriously laugh at people who think builds are top secret and no one could possilbly ever stumble upon them. I'm not stupid enough to think that what I come up with in a build is so original that no one else has ever thought of it. Please, give it a rest.
And farming isn't competitive since it's mostly a solo activity (or it should be if you're maximizing drops/influence for yourself). In what way does your fire/kin compete with mine? Let me give you the answer: it doesn't.
Further, I find all this talk about farming with fire/kins a waste of time anyway. 1) Fire/kins aren't really any faster than a number of others builds that can be built rather cheaply. 2) Market > farming in terms of influence/infamy gain. If someone wanted to gain influence quickly, I'd tell them to learn the ins and outs of the market not waste their time leveling up a character solely for farming (which is a tedious exercise anyway).
Two, you can't compare set to another set on this game, every one is different one way or another. As for comparing one fire/kin to another that's pretty trivial to begin with.
Three, there is competing between friends and people that have been trying to prove who is faster and/or better. This much is true since the friend I spoke of in my other post is some what my rival and I whether find it fun and another reason to play this game. You know "Different strokes for different folks" type thing.

lol I tell ya that's what it seems like, jeez I asked for help on my build back in the day and it was like no one would share what they knew for farming or their build. The only time I got help was when I met this one guy just starting out and putting our minds together, we got our builds finished, then I continued to improve my build from there. Mind you it's not posted on here, and that's the way it's going to stay, but at the same time I'm not going to keep all I know about farming and builds for kins to myself, since the best way to learn something is trial and error. That is also why I offered for him and anyone else to join me on my farms if they have questions or doubts.

Now couple of things....
TP friend is nice an all, but you are farming not teaming, and now a days travel powers are as common as farms. Plus there is a the vet reward for tping the team now.
Two, when it comes to farming, remember two things, speed and accuracy. Sure it's nice that you can do mad damage and all, but it's not ok, if your waiting on powers to charge or your not hittin thoughs +1s, +2s.... so on.
That's all the help I'll give if you want to see my fire/kin in action, be my guest and add me @wulfesdomain. That goes for anyone that doubts me, I'll prove you wrong gladly. I play on freedom, 80% of the time, but do get on the others once in a while.
(Edit)
Oh one thing I did forget is price. This build as it looks now well be a little pricey, but this took me about a month of off and on playing to get enough influence to get somewhat this same build. I would need to look at the market, but I think it's pretty do able. -
Lmao! First off don't listen to anyone that has posted before me, the best kin farmers don't share what they know since they don't want anymore competition, but there are ways around that rule. I'll take what you have for a build and post what I would do with it in my next post.
