  1. Hmmm. I've got one. Its a film made by Rob Schrab - the guy who created "Scud - the Disposable Assassin." But I'm not sure I can link it directly. There's no nudity or anything, but there is some language - even in the title.

    "Robot B[censored]rd!"

    Help me choose?

I'm kinda likin' the third one myself.

NOT just trying to be different, either - I dig the mask and big towel.
  3. Does anyone remember the days when Jim Starlin was doing his run on Marvel's "Captain Marvel"? The Thanos/Cosmic Cube arc? Now those were some glory days!

Jack Kirby doing "The Demon" and "Mister Miracle" for DC.

Jim Steranko doing "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Wally Wood when he would do some of the old "T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents" stories (Dynamo, Menthor, Noman, etc.)
  4. I guess the bulk of my characters are on Justice (9 heroes/4 villains) - but I have characters on every server.

    Champion 3 heroes/ 3 villains
    Protector 1 hero
    Pinnacle 3 heroes
    Victory 4 heroes
    Triumph 1 hero
    Guardian 2 heroes
    Liberty 3 heroes
    Justice 9 heroes/4 villains
    Infinity 3 heroes/1 villain
    Virtue 1 hero
    Freedom 2 heroes

As to when I'm on - I have no set schedule. I'm on whenever I can be (unless I'm not in the mood). That can be anywhere from mid-day to wee hours o' the Mornin'.

In concordance with Bayani and Ironik, all I have said about this situation all along is that good artists don't necessarily make good business owners.

Owning a car doesn't make you a mechanic. Being a talented artist doesn't make you a business person.

But excuses and moves and inconveniences of life happen to all of us, whether we are working from home, a 9-5 or on the road all the time.

If CoH didn't deliver, people would want their money back.

If you place trust in someone and they violate that trust, expect to hear about it, especially if that trust has been healed and rebroken several times.

For every action there is a consequence. Each of us has our own moral code about what is 'good' and what is 'bad'.

For MMOArt, these sorts of threads are a direct consequence of their actions. They aren't victims to this anymore than the rest of us are. They took money .. in some cases quite a lot of it, and in the cases where the promised art has not been produced, they will continue to receive feedback about that.

    Buyer and Seller Beware.

Thank you Sassy, for a very clear and reasoned post. I agree with you 100% (and that includes your signature quote about communication). Well said!
  6. Looks like they finally put up an update and some artwork on the MMOArt website

Hey all! Two new pieces updated to the site today: The Sick and The Dead done by our Studio cartoonist and Imitation done by myself! I also have a new WIP, Aranos X, but it won't stay in production very long. I plan on posting the final version soon!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Love the Three Gunslingers cartoon! - So, who's the artist?
  8. How about some of the Eternals?

oooo! And a Celestial! That'd be cool!

I can't remeber - is the Ol' Living Planet Ego still around? Or did they kill him (it?) off? That'd be another cool one!
  9. I'm not really sure if I should post anything in this thread - as it seems likely to be dangerous waters. I did want to say a couple of things, though:

To NYCPulpWriter: Although I can understand the frustration and "bad taste" left over from bad experiences working with other people - there's an often quoted bit of advice (generally used when applying for a job): No matter how bad an experience you had with a previous employer, no matter how badly they screwed you over - NEVER say anything bad about them to a new, prospective employer. EVER. You be polite and perhaps a little vague. Why? Because the moment you do - this new person that you're hoping will hire you is thinking "Hmmm, so, down the line, what might this fellow say about ME to his next employer?" and that'll just be a strike against you.

This advice works, obviously, on a whole lot more than Job interviews.

It may seem a tad unfair - and in a sense it is - but its just how things are.

Wherever else you go looking for artists to work with for this project, remember that (and the comments of others you've received here) - you will be better served by NOT telling any new prospective artists how awful, unprofessional, lazy, primadonna-ish, or whatever the previous artists you worked with were. Just shrug and say - "it didn't work out, just wasn't quite what I was looking for." Try to bring a positive and optimistic attitude with you when looking for the new artist. You don't wanna come at them with "I sure hope you're not gonna give me as much grief as that last jerk I worked with!" You want give them the respect you wish them to have for you.

To Sin_Stalker: Its kind of ironic that you, a self-proclaimed writer, would say something like "Writers are crap." - but I have to say, its a rather unfair thing to say. In fact, I found it a little insulting.

I know that this is a heavily artist and art-loving board (I myself am a practitioner - who needs to go back and re-tackle a particular nemesis of a drawing) - but there are writers on these boards, too. To say that the writers of comics aren't anywhere near as wonderful as the artists is, well unjust.

Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman come to mind. Without their initial "vision" of those stories and characters and worlds - well, Watchmen, Sandman, and V For Vendetta would have just been spandex superhero stories.

Any writer worth their salt works just as hard at their art, and cares just as much about their craft as any worthwhile artist does.

And if you want to be a professional writer worth your salt - YOU should, too.

Looks good, but his eyes seem a litle too low on the face.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Jugger is (unsurprisingly) right- his eyes are about where his cheekbones should be. The hand holding the sceptre is a little on the big side as well.

That being said, this has definite potential- I always did like Captain Britain's "Classic" costume, and this is looking to be a nice rendition of it, once you tweak it a touch.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Thanks Juggertha and TeChameleon!

    and Goldbricker!! (fabulous in-depth!)

Very Helpful comments all! Looks like I've got a lot of work to do (but I'm happy to do it).

After a night's sleep (well, at least a partial night's sleep, anyway) - I can also come back with fresh eyes. I think i may compromise with proportion of body vs. proportion of that big shoulder and try to reach a middle ground for both (scale the body up a bit, and the arm down a bit). i think I was torn internally between the current (although, did they just kill Brian off in the comic?) broad-chested, wide-shouldered Captain, and some internal image of a more acrobatic Captain. But some of the reference pics I found go either way.

by the way - here's the reference pics I found via Google (and darned if the Marvel Digital comic thing does NOT have any of those old British issues available!):

    Old Costume Reference #1
    Old Costume Reference #2
    Old Costume Reference #3
    Old Costume Reference #4
    Old Costume Reference #5
    Old Costume Reference #6
    Old Costume Reference #7
    Old Costume Reference #8

and the original thumbnail sketch I started with

And that scepter! Each image i found shows it looking different! Still fun, tho. For the right arm, holding the scepter - aside from the hand being too big, I think you're right that the forearm needs to turn into perspective, be foreshortened to match the hand.

and Argh! the head! I tried to get looking up at this head from lower perspective - so you're seeing the underside of his chin and nose. and didn't pull it off at all. I need ot back up and strip the costume off and do some careful reconstruction of the forms - with all the helpful comments, before i revisit the costume and lighting.

Thanks ever so much for the comments, Juggertha, TeChameleon, and Goldbricker!
  11. Inspired by Juggertha's splendid image of Marvel's Captain Britain

    http://juggertha.deviantart.com/art/...itain-87438644

and the fact that a few people remembered Captain Britain's old costume - I ran off to scribble up my own image of the Brit's old costume.

Currently, its a work in progress - there's several things I need to fix - but I thought i'd post it here for youse all to see.

    http://brangzomovia.deviantart.com/a...e-WIP-88520372

the things *I* see are: That big shoulder is, well, too big and seems detached. The amulet around his neck needs to be more centered on his chest. The arm holding the scepter is just off. I need to work on his face - he looks too young. And I still need to do the lion rampant emblem on his chest.

and general clean-up and coloring, too.

If you can see anything - feel free to comment!

that's sweet, Juggertha! clean & tight. solid. I rather like that costume a lot.

Does anybody remember that other costume? not as nice as the one he has now, but it was kinda neat, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Great art Juggertha.

I love that costume, Brangzo. I actually like it much better than the current costume. I always thought it was more unique than the more modern version.

Hey, neat! with you, ScuzzBopper, Juggertha, and me - thats four! Well, now that starts me pondering the old costume some more. (rubs chin) hmmmmm.

its still a great piece, Juggertha! (wonder if I can manage an old costume sketch) I gotta go try something.
  13. Beautiful work! (and I can see the Frazetta and Corben influences)

Love the old school. I think my favorite is "Through The Sunken Ruins" - it does evoke a a story, reminiscent of the way the old Conan novel covers by Frazetta did for me back in the day. (and, I *think* it kinda reminds me of an old girlfriend from high school - in a *good* way, truely!)

I also really like the "With My Father's Sword" picture! - there's going to be a fully pained version? Can hardly wait!
  14. neat! I especially like the Supergirl on the far left - reminds me of the mod '70's era.

now, this is just me, but i think Powergirl's chest is overly large.
  15. Have to say - #2 the "Take My Hand" one is my favorite. The title, the image, the story it tells, the sentiment - I get just a little misty-eyed.
  16. Nice!

The right (his right) shoulder pad appears to be in front of the chest piece, when, I think, the chest piece should be in front of that shoulder.

lines are nice and show 3d curving. Are you planning on adding any shading? That woudl help the 3d illusion a lot.

Hey Foo - when are you going to do another of these contests, and how would one enter?

Yikes! Color me grotesquely embarrassed! Sorry, Juggertha!
  19. while both are great, I cast my vote for the one by the Projectionist.
