Commission Roundup

I'm not an artist, but sometimes I hire them.

These three pieces are all connected, in that together they form the web-based illustration equivalent of what used to be called a triptych. Taken together they summarize the story of two characters - well, three, actually, since there's no in-game mechanic for redeeming a villain, but Gen. Rossum and the Torch of Victory are supposed to be the same person - over the last three years or so.

1. "Before I Kill You, Captain Photon..." by Phil Moy

2. "Take My Hand" by Denise Jones

3. "Answering the Bell" by Jeff Moy

(Yes, the title of panel 1 is stolen from a Cheapass Game. Je ne regrette rien! They had to change it anyway. )

Props to my intrepid field agent Mr-Kinetic, who has the mad connections and always tracks down these artists for me, often at cons, sometimes not. He got the Moy brothers at Anime Central this time around.

Have to say - #2 the "Take My Hand" one is my favorite. The title, the image, the story it tells, the sentiment - I get just a little misty-eyed.

These are wonderful arts.
I especially love the tight pencilwork.

<3 the third one the most, I think. Especially the "get that last bit of drink..."

Very little indeed will stand between Jen Rossum and the last quarter-inch of a chocolate shake.

amen, very cool to include the little things about Paragon City, liek the restaurant names found actually in game in arts every now and then, connects it back to the game even more

Psst. The Moy brothers are pretty well known, but it's always worthwhile to plug Denise. Her site is here.

She also happens to be a delightfully pleasant woman, extremely friendly and polite if you catch up with her at an Artists' Alley. (Even if you're the sort who gets tongue-tied and awkward talking to strangers. Like, say, me...)

They all told a great story with a single image. Loved it
