I do play female characters... And I am happy with the pack.

But it could have been more complete if they added a couple of things, the price would have been more fair, they would sell more and playerbase would be happier.

    We just needed some things:
CoL shoulder pieces for both male and female
    Sashes for males
Corset and garnets for female to set the complete costume

    It was that hard?
Well I'm not saying I wouldn't love a few of the gender only pieces made available to the other side at some point, when I think they are in fact more gender neutral.

Sash for males for instance, or those Barbarian chest details only male avatars have access to.

But more than any of that, I wish they gave us a plain white mask that we could put some of the preexisiting details on (like X Eyes on a Plain White mask). I may have used that as my characters mask if I liked the look of it

    Agreed.

I also don't think there's a lack of talent in the industry to pull this off. I think there's a lack of committed people in the industry.

They need to get back to the practice of hiring people who do their work with quality and care, and look at it as a job they need to stay with, and not a job they can just abandon at a whim when they're bored and want to try something new.

Actually, there are some faces that are no longer there. At least, on one of my older characters, there is no matching face detail that matches it, however, I made this character back when malaise pants was an option...also lucky in that I don't really care for the face as much as I like Young Face 6

They say this was planned before the whole gender equality thread. I still think as adults they should have known better. As another person said, you don't buy one kid ice cream and not the other kids.
    They didn't.

They bought all the kids ice cream, and some of the kids said I don't any. You have the option to role a female avatar and use the costume pieces. You choose not to, therefore you didn't want ice cream.

I wouldnt say it HAS to myself. But it's okay to have as an option.

Same with your "Spiderwing" idea.

Now, I'm not saying they should do this with every character they have but I don't have any issue when they do because I understand the reasoning behind it.

It's like people who complained about Nightwing becoming Batman. Some claimed he could be made into a great hero without taking up the mantle, which is true, from a story-telling standpoint. But DC is a business first. Batman, as a brand, is the money-maker. For that reason alone, Nightwing will NEVER be shown as capable as he should be nor will he ever be allowed to surpass his mentor.

It may well be the case. I'm not denying it. Don't care though, either. :/

I don't blame the businesses on the new characters not selling, I blame those who complain and then don't purchase the new titles when they get what they've been asking for.

Let's look at it. You get some high up in the public eye figures looking at the comic industry, or even some idiot with a blog that may or may not be popular. They go about seeing a lack of something in an industry that they're likely not even actively participating in.

Hearing "OMG! There's not enough of this racial/sexual preference in the comic industry" is usually spouted off by people who wouldn't buy the comic book even if it was the best comic ever in both writing and art, and universally agreed upon by the general comic book enjoying fan base.

This may sound bad, but then I also think for the comic book industry to improve and find new icons, they need to make new characters and take real risks on them.

For example, don't keep cancelling Spider-Girl, X-23, ect.

Quit rebooting as some quick fix as well. And seeing as how both companies are owned by some big name companies, how about some advertising for the comics with backing it up with new cartoons, and possibly showig the cartoons as being grown up and for adults.

Added in Edit: Should be noted, there's a difference between adding in a new minority character with links to an established one, and what they did with Spider-Man and just used his name as name recognition.

See that, three colors instead of the two we're limited to. Yes, this means some new creations with a basic black stripe in them already, but it would be nice to have to add a bit more depth to a costume.

Also, when it comes to tights, spread the tight details around a bit! Like give the males the option to use Hacker Detail on tights!

I really have no idea. I know they've said the Magic pack was the most popular. I have no idea on the popularity of the other packs.

Though I get the feeling some, such as the Cyborg Pack and Beast Pack are either less popular or just not used as often.

When you say painted on, I hope you don't mean not hugging every curve! You know, the style that generally comes with superhero comics.

I don't mind having an option where the outfit doesn't, but I don't want to see it become every option either.

Some of us like the comic book look, but still want to see a bit of texture added into it, so it looks like tights, but doesn't look like it's the skin.

Also, sleek bikini bottoms to match with sleek tight tops!

Which they've said the male costume can already easily be made using exsisting pieces.

Truthfully, after all has been said in the previous threads before now, I'm wondering if people aren't listening, or just trying to come up with reasons to complain.

As for not having any male pieces. Well if all you play is male characters, don't look at it as "What?! No costume pieces for my character that truthfully, I never would of likely used all but one piece anyways?!" and think of it as "I guess I save 5 bucks this week!"

Not to mention there was talk before that people were willing to have packs based purely on gender made, and when it's done...complaints.

This is of course, why I hope the devs don't listen to the forums when it comes to how to make the costume bundles and listen to the market and go "you know what, this might sell when we see this market trend!"

  13. Archery and Assault Rifle (and thusly will likely never play Beam Rifle). The stand there and fire in what amount to the same animation with a longer pull time on the bow and just longer standing there time with the rifle bores me.
  14. I'm just curious if actual testing went into the worries of SD characters being weaker.

I just imagine a few slots being moved around, which with set bonuses will likely give SD users a bit more regen and HP.

70% DDR seems like more than my Ninjitsu character can obtain (but I can be wrong on this, as I don't know Ninjitsu's numbers, just that it doesnt feel like much DDR).

This sounds like it could of easily been the a new Gen-13. A title I would of picked up if it had the original team in it.

So far, enjoying Grifter, Suicide Squad and Red Hood and the Outlaws (though I don't care for the memory loss of everyone they did with Starfire, that part is just suckage).

I've been tempted to pick up Vodoo, but it just hasn't peeked my interrest. But I liked the character in the original run of WildCats.

None of the other DC titles have peeked my interrest so far, which is a shame as I was hoping Teen Titans would, but it just hasn't yet. And I personally loved the new look of Tim.

And Red Hood still makes me want a dual pistol gun fu type in CoH.

Again, how a character came to be is less important to me than how interesting said character is. You nor I have no clue if a Night Runner series would've been good or crap. Just because they didn't go with your choice doesn't mean they made the wrong one.

My only problem when it comes to mandates, is when it needs to take out a main character to replace them with the new character so they can use the original characters name.

I've actually read the 1st four issues of the new Ultimate Spider-Man, that did just that. I really didn't think it was that bad. I do however think they could of left Peter as Spider-Man and made the new one "Spider-Bite" "Spiderwing" "[Insert Adjective here] Spider" instead of giving us someone else as Spider-Man as a way to create the diversity.

Imo, it's one of the best written and drwan books of the DCnU. It's definately up there with Snyder's Batman. People are dismissing it out of hand without actually giving it a shot. That's why it's so hard to bring diversity to comics. Nobody really gives new chaacters a chance.

Well having people consider it terrible writing doesn't help.

New books need good writing, a good artist, and time. Time costs money, and these big businesses aren't looking to create new icons that can bring in money in the long term, they're looking for things that can bring in money now.

If I don't enjoy the story from the start, that better be one hell of an artist working on the book for me to keep reading it.

If the story is awesome, I'm more likely to continue reading it if I consider the art work just okay.
  19. Agreed! Maybe even more now with the fix to 6 year old problem and people wanting to change things around, which includes xfering IOs to new characters!

What is does is make HOs even less desirable for the only group of players that still commonly use them.
    This I might agree with.

Not that I think it's a nerf. I don't think it's a nerf. They said it wasn't orking as intended.

However, I do agree that it was something not used by a large group of the player base.

Even when SG members would ask me for a build, and I'd use HO's, they always replaced them, or moved slots about to use sets instead, prefering not to use HOs.

    True enough, I guess.

It got me to thinking, though. If the Devs of any MMO (and game itself) have no moral obligations to the players, then what moral obligations do the players have to those Devs and their game?

This isn't a question of right and wrong, that's another issue. What I'm asking is what people like us should consider ourselves obligated to do FOR the MMOs and Devs of said games we play?

If we know of an exploit but we're not using it, do we still have a duty to report it? If we're on a test server, do we have a responsibility to actually test instead of just mess around and have fun? If we find a bug in-game, do we need to report it?

The Devs are there to make money, but the players are paying that money to enjoy themselves. At what point should a player feel that they need to stop having fun and help the Devs with the game in some way?

Again, this isn't about right or wrong, nor is it about how we deal with other players. Being a jerk to players OR Devs is wrong. Abusing an exploit is wrong. I'm just wondering where people think we can draw the line that allows us to shrug our shoulders and say "Not my problem, I'm here to enjoy myself".

((PS: It's late and I'm tired. Sorry if I rambled a bit. It's hard to get the exact question into words when I'm about to faceplant onto my keyboard.))
When the players feel they want to.

Being a player doesn't mean you have to help test things. There are various reasons why someone may not want to test games.

The devs are here to make money. Hopefully they also love the work they do, and love the product they're making.

As a player, it's up for you to decide if spending the money is worth it for you.

So far for me, it has been! I've survived many nerfs, I can survive a fixing of an exploit and reworking my builds.

That said to repeat my suggestion...Devs! Up those values on Hami O's! It's the best way to make them worthwhile to players! Still have to worry about ED cap, but it just saves on slots when needed!

Instead of 20/33% enhancement values (depending on what enhancement value is being enhanced) go 33/45%!

It was something they said would be fixed at some point and that it just wasn't a priority. Now it's been fixed.

Nothing to really worry about. Just means some reworking of builds. I say this as someone who's made use of those Hami O's.

Still, I hope this means they do something to make HO's sout after again. Perhaps, move them up from 20%/33% to 33%/45% enhancement values.

    A) revamped old school/spandex tights similar to the ones we already have (adding a few details like seams but still mostly plain)

    B) modern tights (w/ ribbing, surface texture(s), subdivided surfaces) a la Ultimates 1 or Marvel movies

    C) pieces we just haven't made before (e.g. domino mask)

    A and C!

While I never thought they looked painted on exactly (well the masks do since the eyebrows show through) it's be nice to see some real texture with these. Seeing Cyclops (from X-Men) in his tights looks more like clothes than the tights we have, so I'm guessing it comes to down to some minor details? I guess.

And yes! Domino mask! And improving the small masks and X-Eyes with white lens/white eyes look, while making them look like they're wearing a mask versus paint!

Capes, boots and gloves are already pretty well covered in the costume creator.
    This.

On my main, I went from using Shiney Tights with Hacker Decal, to using the Witch Top (full cover version) mostly due to the detail of the outfit.

Not to mention some simple things to do with existing outfits. Disco hacing an option to have those leg coverings, but with a bikini bottom half that can attach to tights options to make a one piece, instead of the short shorts they come with.

Shiney Bikini bottom options so that option meshes better with the shinet tights.

    * hopefully those linked to images work *

Tight options like those, that seperate the colors a bit would be awesome too! I don't mind if they come with built in black lines, and I can't change that color!

Having some of those decals come with black lines to seperate the decal from the tights would be nice too!

But It's more of though details. Where the Full Witch Top (to me anyways) still looks for the tights/spandex of classic heroes, but looks like an outfit

Also the masks! White eye options for them for sure! Small Masks 1-5 and X Eyes and Viper and a lot of others would be so much better imo if they gave the white eye look (even possibly using the glow tech). Being able to choose the color would be nice for a lot of people I'm sure, but I'd settle for the white eye look common with Batman/Nightwing/others.
