Quote:I'd have to see your build to know what set to put in it.I guess sticking with Blaze will save me a respec. Already have Char. What sets would be good? I tend to be more mitigation minded (my enjoyment of the toon drastically improved when I respecced out of Hasten and picked up Air Superiority). Should I save up the money to get a Ragnarok to put in Fireball?
Just slamming a set into an attack will get you set bonuses, and possibly even decent modifiers for the attack (or other power)...and even a grab of different set bonuses is likely to improve the toon in some way.
But it's always best to concentrate on going for a general theme with set bonuses imo. -
Quote:My TG only has ACC slotted in it because I haven't gotten the last 2 Doctored Wounds IOs in it yet, and relies on +ACC set bonuses (I'm at about 40% now...though when completed will be around 72-78% from just set bonuses) and Tactics...Change my Twilight Grasp when you can pull it from my cold, dead... er... grasp. Of all the Heals on all my toons, I love TG the most, and I dont slot it for the Debuffs, just for fast accurate Healing. As soon as I can, I slot 1 Acc, 3 Heals and 2 Rech. Obviously combined with other bonuses in my arsenal; it is on the high end of accuracy and heals and plenty quick for most circumstances. But even a tricked out Emp/Pain loses a few. Tweak it a bit and find what works best for you, but dont change it; it works just fine.
And if people just expect you to be their own personal Heal-Bot; they deserve to suck pavement. EOS. Survival depends on everyone working as a team.
Dark Miasma is like making everyone softcapped...the odds are in your favor to survive, but they're not promised...but it also requires everyone to stay huddled together.
Sadly, I find most people don't understand that part. :P
Radiation has the same problem, except they don't have a ACC based heal...so while DM's might be a bigger heal, sometimes it's nicer to have a heal that won't miss. :P -
Quote:Which isn't much use, when I'm using Howling Twilight for it's -500% regen debuff, before anyone dies, and therefore they have to wait for it to recharge, and I slap the debuff on the AV again.Except this is also the set with Howling Twilight, which is one power that gets the entire team un-killed.

I only use Howling Twilight as a rez in normal play, against AVs/GMs it's used as a regen debuff, and I'm saddened when I play with other /Dark Miasma players who don't realize HT has the regen debuff in it.
When up against AVs, currently, as I'm not fully IOed out, TG fits into my Attack Chain nicely.
Shriek -> Scream -> Shriek -> TG -> Shriek -> Scream -> Shriek -> Shout -> Repeat!
Puts the -regen debuff of TG, everytime it's up
Combine that with HT's -regen debuff, and Tar Patch, plus Sonic's -res. All is good and yummy
Sadly, heals and -tohit aren't always enough. :/ Darkest Night on Recluse during a STF, while I spam the heals on the soft capped Shield Tanker wasn't enough to keep him standing at all (though maybe if he had his tier 9 >.> ) -

Personally, I think it needs to be fixed so you can put "The" in your name if you desire it.
Scarlet Spectre
The Scarlet Spectre
There you go...more names added! YAY! -
Quote:No they don't. It's more for fun purposes than anything else. And why I think the single target blasts should be moved to tier 1 spot.Like that'll happen. No Scrapper APP has a blast in the tier 1 spot. Not that any of the blasts are actually worth using in all but the worst ST attack strings (looking at you Spines and Elec).
They're basically more for the concept purposes. And a blast fits more concepts than the ability to hold or immobilize with the element. :/ Poor design imo. -
Quote:Yeah, I meant Fireball.Says you. Honestly, I'm not even that enamored with Fireball (which I think is what you meant to reference rather than Fire Blast). The APP ST attacks and mez powers just don't have the oomph that I'd need in order to actually consider taking them for any reason other than set-muling. This is why the only APP I ever bother with on Scraps is Body.
And I like Fire Blast and Fireball. They're flashy.
It's the hold and immobilize I hate, and find unneeded. And why I fought to have Fire Blast put in the tier 1 spot.

Both sets are fun. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.
And I wouldn't worry about any nerfs coming to WP. It's not really all that. It's get it's survival rep with IOs. Really. Get the right IOs, and you are practically unkillable. Team it with a Primary with mitigation (like Dark Melee) and it improves even more.
WP and Shield are alot alike in that regards. They don't get impressive without the right power picks (Tough/Weave), and a little IO investment. -
Quote:That would work too. I just like the idea of HEOr make it a single target version with more -res and -def, lower end, and faster recharge. That's what I was pushing for when it was first released.
*greedily wants the -regen*
To Zamuel. No, you're not forced into any pool. :P
I don't see why you don't just go with Blaze still and grab Fire Blast for the added AoE.
Just because Melt Armor isn't good, doesn't mean the rest of the pool is bad. -
Lately, out of the scrappers I've seen...
Shield seems to be the most popular (for all three ATs that can use it, it seems to be predominate...it's a fun set...but it's not nearly as tough even IOed out, as others seem to think it is...I've yet to see a Shield tank STF without the aid of buffs outside of skittles).
Willpower is another popular one.
Regen of course, and a bit of the electric types...the other secondaries I hardly see at all lately...but I do see them around.
If I could get Fire Armor not to hide my costume so much, Id be rolling a Katana/FA now. -
With the other powers in the set, the heal isn't bad at all.
Sadly, -tohit isn't always enough, neither is slowing them down. The heal is more of a backup, but that requires the team to stay close together, which isn't always going to happen.
Says my many levels of Dark/ experience. -
Quote:This.Melt Armor sucks, it uses a lot of endurance, gives very little debuff, and has a huge recharge, unless you plan on using it as a set bonus mule i'd avoid it like the plague.
You're only getting a -9.75% to enemies resistances. Which will be heavily resisted by the only targets you really need to use it on, AVs.
Yes, in a team setting it will stack, but if you have the debuffers already, you really don't need it.
The -defense, isn't usually that beneficial by the time you get to that level either.
It they wanted to put a useful power at that spot, they should of put Heat Exhaustion in it's place instead.
Already hard enough to get the power into build imo, as it is. But Melt Armor is just the suckie as it is. Even more so with the 200 second recharge. -

First thing I notice is the best thing to do for Dark Regeneration is to frakenslot it, for good stats, not set bonuses.
Not to mention, I'd put a Theft of Essence: Chance for +END in it, to cover the costs of the power as well

Has anyone figured out the best ST attack chain for a Spines/ scrapper?

Quote:The rating system says...strong language. How is that a disregard for the rules?Whoever said Virtue was glorious and good? Virtue's got the highest concentration of ERP characters in the game.
Language filters are not an excuse to allow you to use vulgar language; they're in place to protect people who don't want to hear it from people who have no regard for the rules. -
Wait. The game is rated teen.
So why should the players, GMs, devs, even bother trying to cater to the 10 year olds?
As for parents getting all uppity about it, I say speaking as a parent, maybe they should actually check it out before they let their kids play.
I know I make sure to watch movies first, if I think there's a slighest chance it might be a movie my daughter shouldn't (or wouldn't want to) watch.
Knowing this, I already know some PG-13 movies fine for her to watch, others are not.
But please lets not cater to the 10 year olds who play CoH. If there parents let them play fine, no problem, but if they complain about something that falls into the teen rating, tell them to shut the hell up. :P
And to the OP, part of your problem is we really have no idea what name you used. And admittedly, the GMs sometimes imo go more to the under teen rating on alot of petions. Is it right? Hmmm...some mioght say yes, I say no, seeing as the game is rated teen. So for me, if you can see it on TV or in a PG-13 movie, it should be good to go.
And the rating even says strong language. Why I don't approve and don't use it, slurs would be considered strong language. So why any one would get banned for it, I have no idea. Some people are just uptight. -

Quote:I have no idea if that's for me or for those who use it. o.OIt's that the best you can do for adjectives then you should start working on your GED.
I just figure, with those who think there are so many names available, just by adding adjectives, Sexy is an adjective.
Dark Mistress
Sexy Mistress
Blue Mistress
Three different adjectives, and three names that may be available on the server of your choice.
Oh the names are the suckie...but hey, they're available.

I am for this, as long as it requires ALOT of walking. More than 5 miles. I want to see it be an OMG, I don't know if I can get this badge, type of badge.

Quote:Well yeah...I would have reported the name, had I seen it.
I don't really like running into "Sexy" anyone in this game.
For me its not heroic, but its whorish... and this isnt second life.
Sorry, I am not even prudish, I just dont like that shat in my video game.
:edit:
I report people for slurs as well.
They dont belong in my video game.
I don't find names like...
Jane Goodburg, to be heroic either. And it kinda lacks the heroic or villain feel to it as well.
Also remember, the game does have filters. If you don't like the swearing, use it.
Damn is about as far as I go in the game. But I highly support people using the filters, as I'll tell you now, having worked with 10-12 year olds...they swear...alot...it suprised me how much they swear and what they say. :O Not to mention, as already stated...rated teen for language (what one considers infrequent or frequent, is probably subjective).
And yes, I agree...don't care to see the name "Sexy" but then, isn't that one those "hey there's lots of names out there...add on an adjective advice" I see going around. And I'd hate to see someone genericed, when they're using the advice of MANY people on the forums.
