I'm curious what power combos work for solo/group settings.

    Thanks for your time!
Hmmm...I'm going to suggest Fire or Electric Melee Primary mixed with Regen or WP Secondary.

    Regen will be more clickie.

INV and Shield are also good choices. But Shield you might be saying "What's all the hype?" if you don't build it right.

    Then go to town!
  2. So why not just give Martial Arts all the animations of Super Strength. Then you'd have Super Strength Scrappers.

Obviously, it's not about Rage or numbers. It's about concepts! So, what they need to do to satisfy the "I need a super strength scrapper for concept" crowd, is to give Martial Arts more alternate animations which look like Super Strength's animations!

Because then they wouldn't be Defenders, which are a Debuff/Buff Primary and a RANGED Secondary.

For what you want, it's new AT time!

When ever I may take a break from the game or read about a new Issue and in it they announce that AT "A" will get existing set "B" I go "Meh" but even something mostly new gets my interest peaked (Like MM for blasters, not entirely new but some new things were slipped in there.)
    Can't we get both?

If SM chose to, he could punch a common thug through his rib cage and yank the guy behind him back through the first guys chest.

Other non-tank super strength characters include Sunspot and Luke Cage
On that same note, Spider-Man, while Super Strength, can't rip chucks of the ground out, handclap, or footstomp.

Rogue and Collosus are more likely.

I think the point was, you could just as easily say Martial Arts is Super Strength. Martial Arts would fit Spidey's fighting style (now with punch options), more than what Super Strength...based solely on animations.

Not that I'm against Super Strength being ported anymore. I saw screw it, and just port it. I think they'll change the damage mods for it when it reaches Scrappers anyways, so it won't be nearly as good as people think it will be.

Foot Stomp and Knock Out Blow will get the same treatment that GFS got when ported. Lower Damage than a straight port.
  6. I think Force Field would be the one set they break the cottage rule on.

Turn either Repulsion Field or Force Bubble into a -Regen/-Def Power. Whether it's an AOE or ST power, doesn't matter.

The only difference I findwith these powers is the range of the powers.

I also wouldn't mind Force Bubble if staying as it was, had a reduction to 25ft, to not aggro as many enemies, as keep to the size of Dipersion Bubble.

    This.

If it was just increased to the same timer as the shield buffs, it wouldn't be that bad of a buff from the buffers standpoint.

At least imo. I do just fine with my shielders, but when I play a KIN, the 2 min duration kills it for me.
  8. I find the 2 starting combos, rather lack luster, so I just skip them. Don't even bother taking Nimble Slash.

That said...if you do plan on trying to go the route of never respecing (I do that), I'd go for Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals -> Repeat for an attack chain.

That leaves Nimble Slash or Power Slice. I always take Power Slice, as I just like the animation more.

Secondary, Willpower you won't redraw at all on.

But as long as you can handle the redraw, they're good to go with anything.

    D) Unique animations for key Signature Characters. Have Synapse strike a silly pose, or Black Scorpian throwing Synapse as animations.
Wow. Never had a problem with the female walk power myself. At least it doesn't look as stiff as the Male/Huge walk power.

What it needs to work better in this case is a way to turn temp powers back on without restarting.

In addition, there should be a way to add teammates (for no rewards) if somebody quits (not if they log or are kicked from team), and restart without rerecruiting the teams. The reason that is important is that the TF mechanism is now used for things dramatically different than its purpose. Specifically, this is key to solving RSF ragequits, making ouro viable for teaming rather than just solo, and MA accessibility.
I disagree. You failed the challenge. Doesn't mean the rules have to change (ie...lack of temp powers).

Nothing in the game needs temp powers, they just make things easier.

Lack of ninja run can hurt depending on the MO you're doing. I've done it on toons that rely on Ninja Run as a travel power. It's not that bad.
  11. More alternate animations for the attacks!

I want more possible martial art style animations for the Elemental Damage sets! An Eagles Claw animation for Total Focus or Thunder Strike for instance.

A Storm Kick style Charged Brawl or a Barrage Style Havok Punch...ect...ect.

I jsut thought I should resay this for emphasis.

I'm pretty sure they'd mention it before hand, but that's not something I like to assume, as I definitely would want to be the cause of a failed 'Mo...'.

In the future, when my top character's have better survivability, then I'd like to be in on some 'Masters of...' action, but not until they are ready.

Kudos to the people that can do it without breaking a sweat, and to the folks that for them it truly is a trial yet they persevere and succeed.
Try to get a Thermal or Sonic with a Icer or Bubbler on the same team as your Kin or Emp, and then you may not feel as worried.

Sure no one wants to be the first to die on a MO attempt, but it's not that bad of a thing if you're running with a team of decent players. If they ridicule the player for dying on accident, then it's not a decent team.

Of course, like I said in the previous post, if the player died on purpose, then they're just a poor player to begin with.
  13. I've done spare of the moment Master Of runs, with PuGs, I just make the following clear...

If someone dies the plan is to just keep going (now if it happens ont he first mission, we've started over, but once it hits the second we've just kept rolling along)

You don't need temp powers to beat any of the TFs. So the lose of those temp powers you crafted/earned isn't a big deal. Save them for the next TF.

And dying on purpose is just poor, sad, pitiful playing on the players part when they do that.

Of course it's poor, sad, pitiful playing on the players part who just quits the TF because the attempt wasn't successful.

It failed. So what? Keep going and finish and collect those merits.
  14. You can still be /Regen, and do fine without Hasten. So, I don't see why you thinkhas to be a factor in play.

I also wouldn't call /WP and /Shield's tier 9, major crashes. Since you seem willing to put IOs into the mix, you're not likely to even notice the crash.

The problem is, they don't go over everything. They don't cover who was elected to office, or what exactly happened during Vietnam(or if it happened at all) or what movies did or did not come out.

So you have 3 choices on this matter:
    • Completely avoid the subject, not talking about these things at all.
    • Make up your own stuff.
    • Use familiar real-world events, people, and media.
Completely avoiding the subject is kind of.. lame. It completely cuts off an entire route of discussion and RP.

Making up your own stuff can be problematic. While making up a silly or purposefully-cliche movie title or actor name is easy enough(maybe your character IS the actor?) and is usually accepted, other things aren't so cut and dried.

Persons A and B are talking about current politics. Person A says some guy named John Jackson is the current POTUS. Person B says some guy named Jack Johnson is the current POTUS. There seems to be some discrepancy there. Is it enough to kill the RP or start an argument? Maybe, maybe not. But it's a fairly major difference and can have a big effect on the conversation. I'm just using politics and the POTUS as an easy example. There are others like past events, sports, wars, etc that can have an effect.

Using real world events and people can give discussions a grounding and familiarity that helps to avoid toe-stepping like that, as long as the references take into account the differences that are written down in-game and on lore-informative sites. We know that WW2 was different. We can read about it on the various sites, and when referencing that war, those differences should be taken into account.

In my opinion, to avoid stepping on toes, using real-world references and names is the safest thing we can do unless there's something specifically mentioned in canon to refute them. To go back to my easy example, we don't know who the current POTUS is in CoH lore. It's not written down anywhere, a name isn't ever mentioned as far as I know. Using Obama is the safest move because we're familiar with him as the current POTUS.

But as with all RP these things can wind up in a grey area. I don't use this as a strict rule even in my own RP. You really do need to be flexible when it comes to this kind of thing.

Anyway, that guy shouldn't have yelled about mentioning a real movie in chat. This is not a medieval fantasy game. It takes place in a modern setting. Movies exist. Movie theatres exist. Actors and special FX exist. Crappy straight-to-DVD sequels exist. Make up your own movie titles and actors if you want, but don't yell at others for using real-life stuff when there's no reason it shouldn't also exist.
It's funny. I actually had my main sayng such things as "Who's Batman? Spider-Man who?" because I figured in the Paragon universe, really, these characters wouldn't exist. However, when enough of my SG said they still could, I just went with it

Some real world things staying in just makes some IC chit chat easier.

Well to play devil's advocate, they could possibly be tired of seeing "Statesman is a vicious psychopath who killed my family" or "The PPD killed my innocent family" or "The Longbow attacks/kill innocent civilians just for living in the Isles" or "Scirrico is an emo weakling who I beat up regularly"

I've actually cut to OOC saying okay ending this now, because it won't get anywhere, when people like to RP their heroes being attacked by Longbow in the Isles, because the game doesn't know you are RPing a hero of RI. And I find it amazing they can hand wave being a known criminal (aka playing redside) but they refuse to handwave that little bit of game AI.

Sooo...they could of just gotten tired of it themselves and decided to be mean about it with a public outburst before they put someone on ignore.

As to the OP, yeah, it depends alot on time of day, though I only really head there on occaission, but that's mostly because I get tired of seeing RP fights taking place in the D, without any of them getting kicked out.

Hmmm...last i knew it did stack from different players. So which is it really?

This was one of the reasons to stack it with Merc MMs.

    ^^This.

When others go and say "So and So AV is weak" I can say "Really? Did you need a team or beat him by yourself." if they say they beat them on their own, I can then ask "AV or EB?" and if they say EB, I can just snicker.

But that's me liking to think of the AVs as tough opponents when it comes to my characters. I also play on Virtue. Sooo I REALLY love to ask those questions.
  21. Hmmm...all I really wanted out of the booster pack was a fox tail, looks like I'll be getting that soon without paying for it.

I was disappointed not to see it in the pack, as I wanted it NOW!

I would of payed 10 bucks just for that. Out of the Cyborg pack, all I ever use is the belt.

The new suits are nice, I don't think there's any denying that.

But I think alot of people are a bit miffed at it, is likely because, really, that's what I think people are expecting to see when the mutant booster comes out...a lot more demons.

Still, when it comes out, I'll be buying it. The pieces look great! Already plan on using the Organic Armor Top and Bottom (still hoping the Devs make a less scaley version of it before it goes live), as just a hero suit Now if I can only get a fox tail to go with it >_> *waits patiently*
  22. I think it needs to be stated again before this goes live, or else I fear it'll never happen.

Seperate Eyes from Organic Markings on the face option.

o.O But, it's still broken on test. And I hope they do some of the suggestions when they do make it go live.

Like seperating Organic Armor Face into seperate colors...one for the marks on the face, and one for the eyes.

A bikini bottom that matches up with Organic Armor.

    Tight options for Bioluminence.
