Making a Scrapper looking for advice

I have just recently started playing again and only got around level 20 originally. Basically I'm not very experienced with grouping with higher level scrappers and was curious what works and what doesn't work.

I currently have a defender that I find to be very team oriented and basically only group with her. I'm trying to make a scrapper that can go solo/group with ease.

I'm curious what power combos work for solo/group settings.

I'm not a big fan of the broadsword/katana/dual wpns/maces unless you can sway me

Thanks for your time!

Step 1: Pick a primary that looks fun.

Step 2: Pick a secondary that looks fun.

Step 3: Mow down everything.

For Scrappers, that's pretty much it. Single-target Scrappers are probably better for solo/small groups/hard targets whereas AOE-centric Scrappers are probably better for large groups. But really, any Scrapper should perform roughly equally as another.

Now, if you're looking for primary/secondary synergy... well... that's a different can of worms. Just about all the options synergize well in different aspects, but it largely depends on what you're looking for.

What exactly are the single targets vs aoe oriented archtypes for primary?

It seems like a lot of people are going shield secondary but I was curious what are some neat things from the other secondaries as well?

What he said. There are no bad scrappers. My first, a Martial Arts/Invulnerability which was recently mentioned as one of the worst scrapper combinaitons. Actually, she kinda rocks.

The worst AT in that conversation was MA/Fire, which actually would be pretty cool also.

I've played MA and Katana to 50. Katana, while it may not seem Golden Age comics to you, totally thoroughly rocks. I find BS slow and can't get into spines [and detest it due to the quills spammers in Wentworths.]

MA and Katana and BS all have the same mix of single target and area. King of AoE is spines/dark. /dark really helps with death shroud, and it has some swank other powers.

Make whatever, you have tons of slots. I've played up to 10 at least 50 times. I've got around 10 toons parked at 20ish since they weren't my favorites.

The scrappers I've really had take off so I didn't feel I was building them, but playing them and getting to improve them, were the MA/Inv and the Katana/WP. I also have a Katana/Dark I'm digging.

Edit: and download Mids.

Spines and Elec are PBAoE focused. I would say the various sword sets, Fire and Claws float somewhere in the middle. Dark and Martial Arts are single-target oriented.

Thanks for your replies.

One of the reasons I'm asking is because currently I have a spines/dark, dark/regen and I seem to be looking for something middle of the road in terms of single target/group damage.

You'll probably want Fire/ or Claws/ then. Broadsword/, Katana/, and Dual Blades(?)/ would likely also work too.

Hmmm...I'm going to suggest Fire or Electric Melee Primary mixed with Regen or WP Secondary.

Regen will be more clickie.

INV and Shield are also good choices. But Shield you might be saying "What's all the hype?" if you don't build it right.

Then go to town!
