  1. I don't know if I'd consider Tarzan a remake. Unless, it's like a remake of a remake of a remake or a remake of one specific movie, but really, it's Tarzan.

It'd be like saying the last Robin Hood movie was a remake of Robin Hood: Prince of Theives.

Tarzan is just Tarzan. Seeing a new Tarzan movie is nothing suprising.

What really suprises me is Lethal Weapon! It sounds like they want a buddy cop movie, but want to give it a titlle people know. :/

Not saying I won't see it, but I think they'd be better off as doing it as a passing of the torch type of thing, instead of a remake, and yes, they'd need two actors with great chemistry.

For a 'troller secondary, I'd suggest either Kinetic or Force Field. Both lend themselves pretty well to that sort of thing.
Building off this, Grav/Energy Dominator is a way to go for this too. Pick up Group Flight, and there you go!

Of course, you could also make the argument - and it has been made on these forums in threads that pop up about it - that Batman would be MA/WP with lots of temp powers.

*shrug* Ninjitsu implies training as a ninja - not the use of gadgets while dodging; there is a distinct connotation as "spy" and "assassin" in the term. If you want someone who is good at dodging and uses a lot of gadgets, then take SR with weapon mastery and pick up some temp powers.

There's also the whole "Tankers were there before Brutes ever existed" counterpoint... and I stated before powerset proliferation ever came about that I'd rather see side-switching and keeping some powersets unique to some ATs rather than copying powersets to everyone; it just serves to homogenize things - which is the reason I wanted something other than a damage buff for Defenders. But I'm also willing to admit that there's a bit of contrariness to it as well, due to the blind eye towards the balance issues that Stalkers have compared to the far more popular melee ATs.
Ninja's do damage. Ninja's get in and take down that hard target.

    Stalkers can't do that.

    Hence, Scrappers are ninja's!

Sneak in (Stealth) then smack that target around untill they're defeated!

Not something Stalkers can do well at all.

Yeah, you could say they get in and take down their target in one hit, but we know that will never happen.

I had set a time limit on the TF for 2 hours, did that make the TF harder?
I really don't know why it was impossible to kill him while I've been on other teams and just watched him melt.... and others we worked hard for it.

any ideas why there is such a difference? I have a feeling we didn't have any debuffs on this team ... are they that mandatory?
Hvaing run all melee ITFs, no, debuffs aren't needed.

What exactly was the team composition?

Was everyone 50, or was there 1 50 with the star, and 7 level 35s?

I find most ITFs fail for one reason, the team gives up.

Nothing funnier than seeinga team crash and burn a few times, some people quit, then all of a sudden the ITF succeeds with less people.

The range method works to, but suprisingly it seems few people can understand it, or they whine and quit without trying it, when needed.

When it came time to write her up a bio I decided I'd just fill the box with nonsense until I thought to write something better and more descriptive/relevant. So I did. Here is what I'd come up with, more or less typed in five minutes.

    Description: (RP)

    "Hellgirl, apply directly to forehead."
"Hellgirl. Melts in your mouth, not in your hand."
"Like a good neighbor, Hellgirl is there."
"You can do it. Hellgirl can help."
"Hellgirl. So easy, a caveman can do it."
"There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's Hellgirl."
"When you say Hellgirl, you've said it all."
"Hellgirl - I can't believe I ate the whole thing!"
    "Doesn't your dog deserve Hellgirl?"
    "Hellgirl: Have it your way."
"Bring out the Hellgirl, and bring out the best!"
    "Keep that Hellgirl complexion."
    "Hellgirl: Breakfast of Champions."
"The best tires in the world have Hellgirl written all over them."
"Hellgirl - don't leave home without it!"
"Easy, breasy, beautiful Hellgirl." "Hellgirl kills bugs dead."
"Hellgirl: Made from the best stuff on earth."
    "I can't believe it's not Hellgirl."
    "Hellgirl. Think outside the bun."
"You've got questions, we've got Hellgirl."
    "Hellgirl, the other white meat."
    "Don't get mad, get Hellgirl."

(The last six or so were added later at suggestions of others. I can't take credit for the whole list, not that the slogans are original. >.>)

Now, I know this bio is silly as all hell. (lol, pun) It wasn't supposed to be permanent. It was just to fill the space. But within two days of making it I'd received more comments on it than any other bio I've written in the past. And it's not like all my other bios were ignored, but it really seemed like once an hour I had someone complimenting this, or suggesting more for it. At first I was actually a little offended that stuff I put time into wasn't liked as much as this simple thing, but I pretty quickly moved passed that and realized this was perfect for my character's personality, and while not directly so, described her quite well. In other words, this five minute blurb was as perfect as anything else I could have written no matter how long I spent.

I guess what I'm saying is sometimes its best not to follow any format and just put up something that will draw attention. As long as it fits your character, in the end, that's the point of the bio in the first place. To show people who you are, and then bring people to you.
I've see you around I loved the bio!
  6. Well, looking over Claws with IOs in the mix, I'm finding...

    Swipe - Focus - Swipe - Slash

...pulls ahead, since you're basically getting more chances for the procs to go off.
  7. So, planning out a new toon, trying to set it out to solo AVs, because, well, some people like to farm, I like to take down the hard targets!

And looking over the Primaries, doing the math, figuring out the best DPS I can possibly get, and I wonder how much DPS would one consider enough to solo AVs?

Of course the more the better, but that leaves some things to think about, like NUMBERS! Here's the best DPS strings I could think of for each set with each attack slotted with three lvl 50 Generic IOs.

    KINETIC MELEE

    BB - BS - FB - BB - BS - CS
    10.824 - 114.26

    BB - BS - QS - BB - BS - CS
    9.636 - 118.24

    MARTIAL ARTS

    SK - CK/CS - SK - CAK
    5.808 - 140.90

    CLAWS

    SW - FO - SL - EV
    6.468 - 109.64
(*SW - FO - SW - EV = 110.?? DPS, but lacks the -Defense of Slash*)

    ELECTRIC MELEE

    CB - JL - CB - CI
    5.148 - 106.44

    NINJA BLADE

    GC - SD - GC - GD
    5.412 - 129.60

DUAL BLADES (*Unsure of Attack Vitals Combo*)

    NS - AS - NS - SS
    5.016 - 114.10

    PS - NS - VS
    5.412 - 81.25

    PS - NS - VS - AS
    6.6 - 90.98

    PS - NS - VS - SS
    6.864 - 94.22

    DARK MELEE

    SM - SL - SM - MG
    6.732 - 133.14

    SPINES

    LU - IM - TS - RI
    8.712 - 100.30
(*Note: Replacing LU with TS equals better DPS, but I couldn't make that chain possible...maybe others could)

    ENERGY MELEE

    EP - BS - ET - EP - BS - TF
    11.88 - 130.72

...All sets have BU, so that should add to the DPS equally to all sets, except for Claws and Kin Melee, as they both have it recharge faster.

Martial Arts seems to win out on ST DPS, but it's all Smashing Damage. Dark Melee however hits the enemy with -ToHit and gives a Self Heal.

Energy Melee doesn't look to bad either, while a little less DPS than Dark Melee, not to mention the -Life of ET, the set is going to do some Stun Stacking! I figure Mag 6 - Mag 9 Stun on the target at all times.

Ninja Blade comes up next, and while the DPS is lower than MA and EM, it has the ability to slot TWO -Resist Procs! Which may help it over come Dark Melee in terms of DPS (not quite sure).

The rest of the sets seem to take a big hit in DPS after those sets. And mind you, my numbers just show Lvl 50 Generic IO slotting for the damage numbers, so this isn't including Procs into the numbers and this doesn't take into account missing, which you're going to do.

I wonder if Dual Blades can pull farther up with the Attack Vitals combo (NS - PS - VS) + Sweeping Strike, but I don't know the exact damage ticks that AV adds at the end.

I also haven't included any of the ST blasts from the Epics, as I don't know their exact numbers (as last I knew, Mids was wrong on them).

But before I roll one up (and I admit some of the Primaries, like Dark Melee, are already out of the option as it doesn't fit the concept I have) I know the DPS can be increased a bit more past these numbers, but I'd like ideas on what DPS number I should be aiming for.

Also, if anyone can answer my question on Epic Blasts and which sets would benefit that would be helpful too!

    13.875% from toggles, 5.625% from passives. After slotting, 19.5*1.55 = 30.225%.

Ninjitsu (assuming hide replaced by a cloak of darkness clone, i.e. 3.75% def):
13.875% from basic toggles, 3.75% from cloak of darkness. After slotting, 17.625*1.55 = 27.319%. Difference: 2.91%

Ninjitsu (assuming hide replaced by a stealth with hide's base defense, i.e. 1.875 when suppressed):
    13.875% from basic toggles, 1.875% from stealth. After slotting, 15.75*1.55 = 24.413%. Difference: 5.81%

Note that I'm assuming (at least in the first case) that hide is replaced by a cloak of darkness clone, with the def value that implies, and that I'm assuming full slotting of all def powers with 3 ~SO equivalents (not level 50 IOs) - including the stealth. That's probably where the difference comes in.
I see...I was using Stalker Defense numbers for NIN vs SR.

But your right NIN for Scrappers if Hide was replaced by a Defense Toggle would put NIN closer to SR numbers (like a 3% Defense difference between SR and NIN using lvl 50 Generic IOs).

I still think the differences in the two sets would play a difference. And there's plenty of people who would easily take Quickness, higher DDR, Knockback Protection, and the Scaling Resists, over NIN's benefits.

I think it would be a good trade off myself. And still think NIN should be ported over.

Assuming scrapper ninjitsu has a cloak of darkness clone in place of hide, the difference in defense between fully slotted nin and SR is only 2.9%. Slotted scrapper sha would be about 20.5 hp/s healing (remember scrappers have higher base HP), so at any incoming damage levels below 20.5/.029 ~ 706 damage per second, ninjitsu takes less net damage than SR does. From some old work of Arcanaville's, an average +3 minion is about 30 DPS, so 700 DPS is more than 20 +3 minion's worth.

In other words, even when surrounded by the aggro cap of +3 minions, ninjitsu with 4 powers is taking less net damage than SR with 6. If scrapper SR is considered even close to acceptable, I think ninjitsu would be ok even if caltrops was replaced by a power that offers less overall mitigation. And only having to fuss with 2 powers (smoke flash is fine), one of which would be a dead easy swap (hide -> CoD clone), isn't *too* much work for a proliferation. It's certainly a *lot* less work than creating a new set.

I think your math is off a bit on the difference in defense between a fully slotted SR and a fully slotted Ninjitsu.

Counting Hide (supressed for roughly 2% Defense across the board)...that's roughly 24% Defense (Nin) vs 33% (SR).

Now that's just with level 50 Common IO slotting, and not picking up other powers or IOs for additional Defense, for a 9% difference in Defense, not the 2.9% you were saying.

IOs and Pool Powers can change the differences on them. Both can reach the softcap (a lot easier with SR), so the question becomes (from a purely non-concept approach) which offers additional bonuses you may want?

SR has higher DDR, Knockback Protection, Quickness and could pick up Aid Self as a Pool Power.

NIN has Psi/Confuse/Fear Resist and a built in Self Heal, but need to grab Accrobatics (or IOs) to cover the knockback (though I feel High Defense covers that a lot as well), but also comes with a few gadget powers some find useful others do not.

    Both have +Perception.

I find both sets pretty equal, it becomes a matter of what do I want in that perticular character really.

Green Hornet looked like the 60's Batman with guns and all the aweful fight scenes that go with that. Kato actually had decent fight scenes at least for that time anyway.
That was the show, was it that way for the comics?

Now personally, I know nothing of the comic, and just a bit about the show.

So me as a film viewer just wished they took the movie a bit more serious. A little less hamming it up (which I think Seth Rogen and the guy who played the villain did).

Which might be hard to explain, as I loved the GH's last real fight scene Though I think the face Rogen made at the last fumble hammed it up a bit more than needed.

Thusly why I said it was "terrible but fun" I think the hamming it up aspect ruins others taking comicbooks to film seriously.

I think that's the problem right there.

In a Batman VS Superman fight, if Superman truely went evil, Batman would be dead before he even knew Superman WAS evil.

Now if Superman actually gave Batman time to prep for the fight, and didn't fight at his full ability (ie...here let me fight at the same speed as Flash) well then of course, Batman would stand a chance!

I just don't want to play it on the AT whose entire schtick is a sneaky assassin-type who kills through stealth and skill, because I don't like that concept." Thus the use of the term "whine" in my first post.

If you want it for concept, play a Ninjitsu Stalker - it's not like you're forced redside with one anymore. If you don't like how Stalker mechanics work, then you don't like your own concept and you really just want a SR Scrapper with a self-heal and caltrops. You can also play a Stalker like a Scrapper if the issues are playstyle - nothing forces you into Assassin's Strike after all - but then you have to deal with lower hit points, lower base damage, a lower hit point cap, generally less AoE, and lower melee (ie, self) damage buff modifers.

I tried that already - big long thread, ended when Castle posted that they like Stalkers where they are now and that any issues are strictly with how stealth works in the game... despite all of the posts in the thread to the contrary.

So call it sour grapes if you want - I'll admit, a large chunk of it is - but Brutes doing more damage than Scrappers with more hit points led to a Brute nerf (even if you call the Fury changes a buff, which is debatable, the damage cap for Brutes dropped so that they cannot outdamage Scrappers when both are capped) that I felt wasn't needed. When I try to get Stalkers buffed - not Scrappers nerfed - to simply have the same AT damage modifier using the exact same justification, since the higher critical rate would allow for more single-target damage despite lacking in AoE, the reply is that "they're fine where they are". The developer reaction didn't seem to remain consistent in reasoning, likely due to the low popularity of the AT.

So, Ninjitsu is "fine where it is". Maybe if enough Scrappers play Stalkers and complain about not doing as much damage while being squishier, then things will no longer be "fine". Likely, they'll stop playing Stalkers and say "I want Ninjitsu Scrappers", though.
Well first off, I can think of a lot of concepts I can pull off with Ninjitsu, without being the sneaky assassin type that the Stalker AT is. In fact, I've pulled it off with WP just fine, I however would prefere actual positional defense over typed defense, not for min/max reasons, as my /WP is at 40% F/C Defense and 45% S/L/E/N, but just that Positional defense feels more dodgey, compared to typed defenses (so it's all an image thing basically).

I've played stalkers to various levels, including one to lvl 50, IOed to the gills, and sadly, it was the damage that felt lacking :/ [Note: When I say damage I specifically mean DPS for EB or greater enemies]

And I can only guess they don't want to increase the damage modifier due to PvP, but it makes me wonder if they could have two different damage modifiers. One for PvP and one for PvE.

I actually didn't mind the less survival (though I still think a raise in the HP Cap by +100-200 would be justifiable), as to me, that just meant fights where a bit riskier, which I was okay with.

Though I will disagree with you on the matter of Brutes. They still have a higher damage cap, and assuming there's a KIN around who could keep a Scrapper and Brute at damage cap, the Brute remains tougher, and I believe some Brute combo's will still out damage a Scrapper equivalent.

Then again, if you count the interrupt time before the strike, maybe you've got a close competition. From engagement to defeat, you'd be hard pressed to find something faster than a stalker.

As to being safer, no, I can't argue that. I've often said that my stalker feels a lot like a blaster, except without all the defenses.
I was talking about the EBs/AVs.

That said, I'd say some Scrappers can deal with multiple bosses better than Stalkers, damage wise, and thusly defeat them faster.

Sure 1 boss at a time, the Stalker might remove it faster. But then, the STalker would have to keep waiting for Hide to reactive, to use AS or hope Placate and AS isn't interrupted if used mid fight.

    * Something in the Pri/Sec powers that buffs/helps the team like an aura, or a debuff, or a buff
Corruptor, Defender, Controller, MM, VEATs do this. An odd Dom may too (Plant or Elec).

I'd say at this point the intersection of these 2 takes us to Controller, Fort, Defs/Corrs/MMs with Dark Miasma, Storm, Cold, TA, Traps. I'll leave off Sonic and Rad due to their controls being on a long timer.

    Narrowing down...

    *Good Single target damage
    *Good Area of Effect damage

The easy answer to both happens to be "Fire Blast", which only exists for the Corruptors listed above.

*A combo that makes concept "sense", ie not something hard to get your head around concept wise like bots/dark, or plants/fire.

This seems to be a matter of personal choice. I believe it's up to the author to "sell" the combo, if that's important to have primary/secondary thematically mesh. Maybe Fire isn't intuitive with TA and Traps.

That leaves Fire/Dark, Fire/Storm, Fire/Cold. All 3 fine choices. Of those, I have a Fire/Cold and I have to say, even though I haven't IOd her out, is exceptional. Fire/Dark matures faster and will have a smoother leveling ride, but for incarnate level power, man, Fire/Cold sure fits the bill.

*A feeling of being relatively tough and super-hero-y(not necessarily tanker/brute, but not squishy)

You can build a Fire/Cold to have capped s/l/e and perhaps ranged with Scorp Shield.
I'd have to agree with this.

Fire/Cold is easy enough to cap to Range/S/L/E Defense (I won't say cheap, as that's a matter of opinion, with Hero Merits, Reward Merits, and price of sets varing, I think it can be IOed out nicely by anyone who tries) if they grab Mu Mastery Shield.

Myself, I'm just going with softcapped Range Defense (30% Melee/AOE) and grabbing Leviathan Mastery. Adds more Resists and fits my concept (Hibernate).

Fire/Cold also works great as a themetic pair as a thermokinetic.

Illusion Control, Ice Armor and Melee, Poison, and Ninjitsu are the only powersets I can think of that are completely unique to one AT. I think there should be more than that, but what's done is done.
I used to be in agreement with this. Now however, I just can't.

For one reason, only a few ATs had a unique powerset to begin with. Broadsword was never unique imo, because it and Katana are pretty similar.

For another reason, to play those unqiue sets, you're stuck with an AT some may not care to play.

Ice Armor/Ice Melee, love the idea of it, but I don't want to be a Tanker.

/Ninjitsu, love the theme, hate the lack of damage I feel with a Stalker. :/

Illusion Control/, well Dominators are what I wish Trollers were to begin with.

The last reason? They'll never make a set unqiue to one AT. They are not going to spend the time on a new set and say "Only 1 AT is getting it" (outside of MM Primary...Blasters Secondary's tend to be a mishmash of power sets, same with Dominators Secondary).

And the unique powerset idea is only good, if every AT has it's own unique set. Imo anyways.

However, on the occasion that the class that already has more damage and more survivability whines their way into a defense set that was designed specifically with Stalkers in mind, I'd replace it with Mask Presence (40' PvE suppressing stealth and 1.875% defense to all with scrapper modifiers) so that it at least behaves similarly.
    Wow. Just wow.

Why would you want to limit concepts that work just fine. It's not like Ninjitsu on Scrappers will have it beating out the other sets.

I noticed (in the US, atleast) that newer songs have to be really censored for radio. Even words like God and references to drugs get censored. Yet the oldie rock station I listen to can play this song or Pink Floyds "Money" uncensored. Both contain coarse language. Why do old songs avoid censorship?
Hmmm...I hear Buckcherry say Cocaine in Lit Up, on my local station.

It might be dependent on who's doing the censoring.
