Kinetic Melee for the -DMG/Stuns/Knockdown
Dark Melee for the -to Hit.
Electric Melee for the knockdowns.
All of which avoid redraw issues! \o/ -
Wow! they totally improved Magneto's helmet!
Now I'll watch the older X-Men movies, and think "Why'd he make it look crappier?" -
Quote:Well, sorry I didn't know the lingo. That's not a freeform powerset, though. It's just a branching powerset. Things like these have been suggested for a long time - since before Soldiers of Arachnos, actually - and they've always been good ideas. However, retrofitting existing sets to behave like this seems like an impossible undertaking, just for the sheer workload it would involve.
I'd like it, though.
But, that said, Branching may be a good compromise to go with then. Not quite freeform, but a little more variety for new (and very likely wanted) concepts.
An Elemental Tree that gives different options of Fire/Ice/Electrical Offensive/Summoning Primary and Fire/Ice/Electrical Armor/debuffs/buffs.
This and the Combat Specialist would be awesome ATs to make use of the 3 possible builds on one character. -
But would it work to keep people interrested?
Let's look at it. New expansions come out that people paid for, and the complain that they rushed through it, now they're bored.
At least with Free Issues, those people can't complain about having to pay extra for content they just rush through and don't bother to notice the small things or even take the time to read the missions or what have you. -
Quote:Remember when the thing known as Defense softcap wasn't really known about, after the introduction of IOs?At the high end, fully slotted and io'd, there wasn't enough of a trade off, again imo. But I do agree the devs apparent crusade to make defense worthless is headed in the 'going too far' direction.
It's ok for top end builds that cost billions to make to be almost unkillable. Even in the regular content, my uber toons can die in various situations. But with the current trend, my uber 50s can die like a level 10 blaster far too often and far too easily. Maybe the devs have a different playstyle, but I don't enjoy going to the hospital every five minutes on a top end character. If some players like to die a lot, fine, up the difficulty capabilities to +8/x16 and let them go nuts.
One of the bigger reasons this is happening is giving enemies things that literally make defense useless, which overly cripples builds and powersets that rely on defense. And they tinkered with this in the regular lvl 50 content when they added tip missions, and they upped the to hit ability of enemies like DE.
If you're dying every 5mins, I'm not to sure it's the enemies that are doing this and maybe playstyle or your build not being as great as you think, or do you just not have the higher level incarnate abilities unlocked? -
Quote:No. The -DMG is in effect all the time.Firstly, I find it a must have, yes. Watch your damage % numbers in combat apps. Hovering between 40%-120% damage bonus more than half of every fight is nice, It is also the balancing factor for CS (which doesn't crit, it recharges siphon) AND (I don't remember if this is right) I believe you have to have it on to trigger KM's -dam debuff.
As for MoG yes it is 15 seconds, but it's on a shorter recharge timer, no longer prevents healing, reduces your health or crashes.
So basically, it's short duration but has ZERO downside other than that. It is god for breaking alphas (an old /regen weakness) so definitely keep it. -
Quote:LOL! Never seen that before and could only think "Yup! That's the dad thing to do!"That was quite funny. Excellent spoof.
Bee Tee Double-youse: Here's the awesome VW commercial they're spoofing, for those who haven't seen it. -

I keep hoping the Elemental Sets will get Martial Arts animations for with their elemental FX added on, for animations with matching times.
If an Electrical Melee Punch has the same animation time as Crane Kick for example, I don't see why not make it an option! -
You know, they could make something close to what they've already done with Widows.
Some VEAT like ATs, that gives you multiple options for each tier, but you can only choose one.
Kinda like how Widows pick BU or FU, but not both.
Good way to get a Combat Specialist AT (*continues to dream of a Dual Pistol/Blade/Martial Arts and Defense character*) -

I wouldn't mind the another paid expansion being "buy this to run CoH as CoH2" with a few features for those who don't...like...hey look...the day and night cycle are longer!

I'll have to agree with the preference to read the book versus off the monitor. I also prefere to own a copy that way than own a copy on my computer.
-
Sadly, I have to agree with a lot of the posts here.
But I really don't want to.
Though with a Sword...at least with WP you won't deal with redraw. -
Quote:I actually want to own the whole series. However, since they stopped printing it now, I actually just started reading it online.I know ya'll against scanlation but Kurohime has been fully scanlated if you want the story Now.
I try to avoid it, but I own the first 14 volumes and waited this long for volume 15. I'll still buy the rest of it if Viz ever starts printing it again. -
Kinetic Melee also has the advantage of not being entirely Lethal/Smashing Damage.
The lack of redraw for Kinetic Melee is a good thing as well depending on your secondary.
Regen? Going to be lots of redraw.
Fire Armor? Lots of redraw.
SR? Onlly if you set your mez protection on auto.
WP? None except for the few cases of SoW use. -
Quote:This is it really. They don't need it.This isn't meant to be rude, or uncaring, but why does someone who insists on soloing and never doing TFs feel they NEED these things? They're cool and all, but I don't see how they'd vastly improve much of your solo experience, especially since the level shifts only apply in the content you won't be playing.
On a side note, if you can find yourself able to get along with other people for 30-40 minutes, you can get these things much, much faster. The first few times you run it you may feel it's overly difficult, but they get much easier with practice. A LOT easier.
Also, it's not that hard to get the very rares if one is willing to get in on the trials. And for those who want to rush things or work on obtaining them purely through solo play, it's a great influnece sink! -
Those who were going to pirate, were going to wait and pirate it anyways.

Quote:I'm for this for /NIN, /SHI, and /SR!3. Allow click status protection powers to be activated while held, slept, stunned or terrorised. In essence, allow these powers to work like a Break Free inspiration. There's nothing dumber than getting held just as your Practiced Brawler is going down because you neglected to "press X to not die," but allowing players to activate the power when held, waking them up from the hold would fix that problem and give click status protection powers a distinct advantage to offset the easy convenience of toggle status protection powers.
-
Quote:There isn't a pointless difference between it and other mez protection.Sure, it's easy to keep Practiced Brawler running even without using autoclick. I'm not threatening to quit over how hard it is or anything. It's just that I think it would be more elegant, and improve the gameplay a little, if there wasn't this basically pointless difference between it and other mez protection.
I use Dull Pain the same way. I'm ambivalent as to whether it should be changed to a toggle, which is why IIRC I didn't list it with the others.
First off, there are 4 mez protection powers that are clickies, /SR, /NIN, /SHI, and /PSI EPIC.
5th if you count Domination Inherent.
Now, of those, /SR, /NIN, /SHI can all double stack their protection! Can't do that with a toggle. -
Quote:Well I can understand thatCoz til now, I've TRIED to keep it as close to canon as possible. The fact that he was so blatantly unattached made it easy to write (and Synapse is the same way).
I *was* amused, however, when I logged in to the Devs' Ustream thing, that Zwillinger KNEW what I was going to ask about, and said, "I can neither confirm nor deny what might be implied."
Thanks a lot, Zwill.

But it's still non canon, so keep writing it whether he goes with Numi or not

Quote:And not everyone who wants a freeform option wants to min/max, and wouldn't even have optimal builds if we could.Perosnally, I feel free-form building is a bad idea in general, and for a couple of reasons:
1. It's hard to balance so that a few optimal builds don't completely overshadow all the others, and it kind of defeats the point if such a balancing were even possible.
2. Not everyone gets into these games to play them like a developer. Not everyone wants to compose an entire build from scratch, determining how much protection, AoE, single-target, buff and so forth make for a good character, especially outside of any specific regulations. A lot of people - myself included - would prefer to see the game do most of the work in balancing our builds.
Freedom isn't just sunshine and rainbows. It's also a responsibility, and a game which slaps you with too many consequence-heavy choices too early in its gameplay rarely has good retention. -
Quote:I really don't see the difference. You yourself said you picked the Origin strictly because it would give you an electric attack to light up Oil Slick.Yea... no. Force people to spec into a travel power if they want to move quickly THEN we will talk about this.
So what's the difference for you to pick Electric Epic to light Oil Slick. -
Quote:BU will only recharge if CS crits, which is a constant 20% chance. Placate and Hide will not give CS a 100% crit.My lvl 32 Kinetic Melee/Regen stalker just hit 32 today. I took Concentrated Strike as my next power choice. In the description of the power, it says its supposed to instantly recharge the Build Up power, instead of giving criticals.
Does that mean, it only recharges the BU power when I attack using CS from the hidden state?
Because when I use it in an attack chain, it does nothing to instantly recharge the BU power.
So should I be going BU, AS, placate, CS, then BU will be instantly ready?
So far I have not seen BU instantly recharged ever.
Or is that some text that should have been removed but wasn't?
You're better off going, BU - AS - Placate - Another Attack - CS -
Quote:Well, I'm pretty sure Fire Blast is better DPS than Lunge. But like I said, Spine's best DPS chain doesn't use Lunge, it uses Ripper -> Throw Spines -> Impale -> Repeat.I don't have numbers for it, but since I replaced lunge with fire blast my damage has very obviously gone up (I just stole all the slots, since I can't completely retire lunge).
Burn (and this is going to sound wierd) I think is actually my strongest single target attack (stronger than ripper, unless ripper crits). It is an absolute beast, I fight those rikti battlesuits pretty often, and they don't seem to go down until burn, where they drop like half their health.
The effect is odd, I have both almost a full ranged ST attack chain, and a fully ranged AoE attack chain (because I use fireball too). the only melee attack I use (as in I actually contact the enemy) is ripper. It makes you feel much more like a psychotic Dualy damage aura'd blaster than a scrapper. Esp considering BU+FE is pretty much Aim+BU
So would putting Fire Blast in there to replace or just in addition too, increase the DPS of that chain? Seeing as how redraw on Spines doesn't effect Spines DPS, the redraw would just be annoying more than anything else.
Also, unless my memory is just completely wrong, yeah, the Rikti will die faster to burn, but that's because they have Lethal Resistance and no Fire Resistance. So of course you'll see them fall faster to Burn.
