And /regen doesn't really want to worry about damage types as much as other powerset. healing is basically a counter to ANY damage type. Its nice to have some defense or resistance (or even both) to the more common damage types, but that Psi blast that just took over half the invulns HP out will do the same to the regen. The difference being, the regen can pop Reconstruction and be back to 100%, every 15 - 20 seconds. that invuln has to rely on Dull Pain, and being able to kill that psi dealing enemy before they can kill it.

Same goes for Energy, Toxic, Negative... The burst healing, and high passive regen you can get on a /regen, especially a brute with 3k HP (accolades, dull pain, etc) means it will take an awful lot to make you fall, especially if your active on your secondary.

Is /regen for everyone? Probably not. But is it gimped because its not a toggle and forget playstyle? No. In order to keep the SR alive against unpositional attacks, or autohit attacks, you need to hit aid self, rebirth destiny, or pop inspirations. That /regen just hits IH and keeps on going.

If you can name anything in that game that will deal out a constant 1,000Damage Per second with the player having no way to kill said target within a reasonable timeframe (say 10 seconds, as even an SR would last that long) then i'll consede the point and not mention it again.
Well, IH, MoG, Inspirations, possibly Shadow Meld, Reconstruction, or Dull Pain.

This is true! However, the OP may not be playing the game to RP in general either.
  3. I don't know. Does it really matter when these things will likely be spoiled in game just as easy if not easier than on the forums?

From an RP standpoint, I no longer RP Frostfire as a villain anymore for instance, so if it came up in RP, I'd treat it as him being a hero/vigilante now (I don't know what alignment he is actually, he may be a rogue, but I get the feeling he's a reformed villain turned hero so that's how I play it).

And when chatting it's not like I give spoilers tags about anything in game.

If you see a discussion on the forums, if the title of the thread was labeled better than "Hey!" then one might beable to realize it has spoilers, like, "Hey! Lore question." thusly one might realize the thread will have some possible spoilers.

It took the Marvel Universe 50 years to get this messy, and DC's nearly 80! Respect the achievement!

(I'm kidding, but in a sorta-serious way. The backstory being kind of crocky and self-contradictory really is part of the superhero comics milieu. I don't really think they were trying to create it on purpose, but I do think the CoH universe would lose some of its charm without that inadvertently authentic touch. )
It is, but I don't think it's intentional. At least I don't think it was at first. And I never get that feeling from new independent comics as the intention of things to do.

But then, these independents have less to lose. Marvel and DC get crappy writers who want to change things up to ways the fans dont want/things they want to be one way and then watch it bomb and have to fix it all.
  5. I like the game to have a lore and storyline. That said, even if it was perfect, that's only good for discussion purposes, because people would still change the lore to fit their concepts when wanted.

Never mind that some of it's kinda sketchy.

Magic's been dormat for a LONG LONG time, but around in some not noticable ways (think of it like magic might be alive now, but the general populace doesn't know of it, and would consider it myth).

Mutants didn't appear untill the 60's (according to lore) and the real powers didn't start untill Statesman and Recluse's little adventure before they were Statesman and Recluse, but we know there's been a few extraordinary people around before that, if Lady Grey is truely as old as people think/say she is.

Basically, I'd like to see them put down a few more "this is how it is" storylines to flesh it all out, rather than leave it so vague it leaves answers unanswered.

That's not farming. That's a lack of options.

It's not farming if they had 20 Trials to compete in, and you ran 10 of them a day to get the rewards.

Also, Trials require lots of peoples to run the task, which doesn't tend to go with farming either.

The Alpha slot had the right idea, frankly - sure, it can take a bit, but shards drop from... well, pretty much everything. I can do whatever I want - task forces, trials, missions, newspapers, go help friends, exemp down, whatever and I still make progress. And with the WTF, something new gets highlighted every week to keep things fresh.

Every other slot? Baf, baf, lam, lam, baf, lam, key... wait, nobody wants to run that. (Seriously. The common response across several servers to anyone suggesting Keyes in my experience has been "lol, right.") Baf, baf, lam, baf, lam.... Even just doing 1-2 a week it's more of a "I have no choice in running this." Short of completely ignoring the system, that is.

And that's if I'm not playing at 2-3 AM (not uncommon.) Or coming in between trials, where it's me and one other person that just got to the zone too late. I'd love to burn that time making SOME progress.

NOT having SOME sort of non-trial Incarnate content to make progress on these slots - even some sort of option in the WTF for threads or some such - was shortsighted, and all we get when that's mentioned is a sort of vague "we're considering having a meeting to discuss possibly looking into forming a committee to consult on possibly brainstorming something someday." (Which is, admittedly, more than the PVPers get.)
You get the option of 40 threads with every WST.

That's actually why I wonder which story arcs in Praetoria the devs are going with. Having the choices is an awesome option, but in the end, you know only one story path (or combo of them of course...Katie rescued on this path, but Cleo died on this one instead of saved by this arc...ect...ect).

Much like fighting games...sure this person beat it with Guile, but the next edition shows Ryu was the victor.

As for Vanessa not watching over the Seers anymore, that might not be a problem, as we don't know what's happened between level 20 and level 50 incarnate.

    This.

Also, I hear TankMages, but I never hear about people just kicking butt on 4/8 Rularuu missions.

Change up the enemies. Oh yeah, those 4/8 AE missions sounds impressive, but they're built to cater to a character's strengths. My SS/FA taking on 4/8 AE Fire Farm is no where near as impressive as if my SS/FA tanking on a 4/8 Cimorians (it can't).

And those Incarnate that make some of the non incarnate content look simple. Yeah? So? They're not making the incarnate content look simple on their own.

To use a simpler example. It's like complaining that a regular lvl 50 is going into Boomtown and making all those enemies look like a waste of space.

Nice! And yeah as stated, if this was done over 21 days, the game counts your log out time, not justyour time spent in missions.

  13. I think something's missing.

They had a truce, yet Hamidon was still attacking? Look at First Ward. Attacked by Hamidon.

For having a truce it wasn't much of one.

With a 25 second base recharge in CU, you can either use builders at combo level 3 or use Sweeping Cross in between.

    HB > SB > RC > CU3 > HB > SB > SC2 and HB > SB > HB > CU3 > HB > SB > SC2 are the two chains I will be trying initially.
All of it was at a guess at a glance. Not quite sure if either of the chains I saw as basic chains to try for could be pulled off or not.

Didn't bother me at all. In fact, I hear this mention of it all the time and then watch the movie and go *shrug* really I don't even notice it as anything bad.

Shakey cam is far worse imo, and much more noticable to me.

Though I was watching Star Trek last night thinking the exact same thing as Arcanaville mentioned...Why isn't he just dropping the Red Matter ont he planet? Or just activating it near the planet? It would seem to destroy the planet either way!

If you went, for instance, Time/Archery or Time/Ice, I could see some real "hand-wringing" over which powers to take and which ones to slot up for IOs.
To fit in all the powers I want on DP/Time, and this includes trying to fit in the new travel pool powers, it's looking for me to skip Piercing Rounds and Empty Clips on a DP/TIME.

And that's with skipping Temporal Selection That's how power heavy trying to get my concept into the build is!
  19. Well, personally, I never had a doubt that Scrappers wouldn't get Icy Bastion as well, when it got ported over to Scrappers (Brutes can go either way, but they lack Hibernate in the Epics, so they should likely have Hibernate).

However, it looks like a good power to me

-DMG, Slows, Softcapped defenses, +Heal/+HP power, and when things start to go south, a nice power that grants what looks to be some pretty decent Resists
  20. So at first glance I'm thinking...

Heavy Blow -> Shin Breaker -> Heavy Blow -> Crushing Uppercut

    However...

Shin Breaker -> Heavy Blow -> Shin Breaker -> Crushing Uppercut if it's possible would be even better.

Just doesn't look like using Sweeping Cross will be worth it from a DPS standpoint as it doesn't give a Combo Builder point to make maximum use out of CU.

Which isn't to bad imo, as I thought Sweeping Cross was probably the weakest of the animations. Cone was nice though and I made fairly good use of it.

[EDIT] Hmmm...looking over it again, would Rib Crackers -resist make for it equaling Heavy Blow? Lower DPA, but it has -Resist to stack with the rest of the chain.

Because only two of them drank from the well, and one of them is dead.

I don't think Tyrant had to face him alone, I think everyone else likely felt they were useless to do anything.

They've been fighting him as a group (no solid leaders for a large scale group mind you) without a powerlevel of Tyrant's level for quite awhile, and losing.

At that point they might have just given up.

Or it may just have been unable to gather everyone for the final assault. Or Praetoria may have just had a lot of weak super powers, except for the few Praetors.

And no I don't think it is a necessary state of affairs. Some people may like it that way, but some people also think Titanic was a great movie.

In particular, connecting a character's death to a piece of content you're supposed to repeat over and over is head scratching to me.
You have a point. But then TFs and Trials are suppossed to be these some what epic things (of course this isn't always the case), that allow everyone to have their character involved in.

Having your character involved in the storyline in the death of signature/big name AVs is likely what a lot of people want (and of course in the inverse saving them). If they just did it as a storyline thing, then lots of people can miss out on it and easily miss out on it at that.

When I began CoH, I remember getting the Doc Vahz arc often. No idea how I did or what progression I took. But I got it often. I havent seen him since i5, and I couldn't tell you what contact path to even take to get to him.

Now, from a small group/solo concept route, one can easily say they're the ones who did all that and just ignore it all when and if (and more likely when) they repeat it. You already ignore it now, no reason you cant just ignore it after the first run.

In this case, quite clearly, it is. Of course what happened isn't possible or highly unlikely in the real world. But, given these facts:

The call comes out from Vulcan that its under attack.
Star Fleet mobilizes, and due to the approximated nature of the threat, needs to man all their ships, including the recently built Enterprise
The almost the entire crew is manned by people that just graduated from Star Fleet.
    Fleet warps and is destroyed.
Enterprise makes it late to the party, Captain Pike needs to leave, places Spock (apparently the only non-recent graduate officer on ship besides the doctor who ends up dead anyway) in charge, and makes Kirk 2nd in command.
Spock ends up relinquising command to Kirk.
    Kirk saves the day.
Pike can't captain anymore, most of the fleet destroyed, this is wild west time for star fleet, admirals and such are a bit long in the tooth to go out into the wild, so young guy who saved the day after taking command of the ship is officially given command of the ship.

Those are the plot points, and while it's admittedly weak, the story bears out how it occurs.

The real plot hole is the time travel and poor character arc revolves around Nero, not Kirk. Even then, when taking into context of other Star Trek movie villains, Nero ends up merely serviceable in comparison. There were worse.
Actually. I don't see why Nero really should be worring about saving Romulus.

He knows this is a different timeline. What wife is he going to save exactly? The one his double is going to marry? Not exactly saving HIS family is it?

He's a revenge driven man, who's admittedly putting the blame on the wrong person (likely because he has no one else to blame) but then again, Spock seems to be putting the blame on himself as well, which logically I would think he should know isn't the case, but it's just further proof he's always been a bit emotional (or is that a old vulcan thing to lose ones logic as they got older?).
