Quote:But all that is so teasing!So... They're not up yet, are they?
I can log in and accept the new EULA now, which is further than I could get before. I can even get to the server listing, and I can see Exalted, but there is this weird issue where the server scroll bar won't let me scroll down to it. I can grab it and scroll it down, but as soon as I release the button it snaps back up. I got this message on a couple of the usual servers: Account is not allowed on this server. reason: Public access to this server has been disabled.
So. Hopefully that's just a part of the update process... -
Yeah, in game before the server shut down it was 7 hour shut down at 3am PST.

KM/EA seems like a good choice to go with.
Fire Melee/ gives good damage, and with softcapped defenses, end management, and a good self heal, you dont really need the "save your butt" secondary effects as much. -
Quote:I'd say it's more along the lines they know in the end this EULA won't be that enforceable. It's not like it's Real World rights, which come to think of it, lots of people seem to be willing to give up!This does seem to be the case, and it makes me sad. People are so easily willing to give up their rights, pretty soon we won't have any left.

Quote:I'm not to sure I agree. People have been buying the movies, and those mention the comics.Actually, I agree with Bob Chipman aka Movie Bob aka Game Overthinker...
Regardless of how much DCnU sucks has nothing to do with how good or bad this whole thing is going...
What IS causing all the buys is something that comics industry has pretty much forgotten how to do. It's called MARKETING. Publishers don't advertise and comics are only sold at specialty shops and comics are only advertised in other comics so noone in the outside world really know anything about them.
The books are selling well now because people have been advertised to. Future success will likely be based on the same thing and if DC stops advertising their comic sales will likely be dropped back to previous sales points or worse.
I think it's more people just don't care to read anymore. Really. Having moved to a smaller town, I notice how the local bookstore has some problems staying in business because no one is buying, and when I talk to some people about books, they're like "What?! Read?!" -
Quote:It's not really that hard to realize the "real" timeline. The problem with time in the game is that there are 2 separate timelines, because it's an MMO.
There's the historic timeline, and the levelling timeline - the historic timeline is the one where the events are tied to certain dates and years - for example, Statesman and Recluse drinking from the Well in 1930, the transit sytem starting in 1951, the first Rikti invasion in 2002 and so on - these dates aren't a problem, as they all happen before the current time period of the game - where the problems start is when the historic timeline moves into the period of the game being live.
That means that fixed historical dates become stretched out, because as an MMO the content has to be repeatable - so while the second Rikti invasion has the historical date of 2007, it's also still happening now in 2011 - the RWZ is in the same crisis stste as it was in 2007 - and that's where things get confusing with the other levelling timeline.
In the levelling timeline, events happen as you progress - the higher levels happen at a later date than the lower levels, which makes sense.
But it leads to weird situatiosn where the Shivan strike on Glaxy City in 2011 happens before the Rikti invasion of 2007 - or that the Faultline storyline happens after the destruction of Galaxy City, even though it happened in 2006 in the historic timeline.
As a basic example, the historic timeline reads like this:
2006 Faultline story/rebuilt
2007 Second Rikti invasion
2010 Tyrant invades
2011 Galaxy City destroyed.
But the levelling timeline goes like this:
Galaxy City Destroyed
Faultline story/rebuilt
Second Rikti invasion
Tyrant invades
So it's quite bixed up trying to decide what's the "real" timeline

Quote:Leaving the accolades in (some which are level locked to use even if you get them early) does not make one overpowered, or more powerful than others.Absolutely not. I must have misread your original idea, because this is something I would sooner leave the game entirely than support. At no point should making my character stronger require me to start over, just on face value. More in-depth, the developers have historically been completely stout in their refusals to allow AT respecs of any shape or form. This will not happen, and that's very close to what you're suggesting. Finally, tying a reset to player progression is something I will never support. If you want to start over, then by all means, start over. But don't ask to start over stronger.
The only way I will support any form of "rebirth" idea is if removes any and all functional powers from the character, accolades included and starts the character fresh and unpowered, same as any level 1. New Game ++ has no place in an MMO. There are ways to make your characters stronger without invoking the worst plot device in the history of story writing. Players shouldn't have to deliberately and intentionally kill their creations to make them stronger. -
Quote:They then wait for them to rotate back in.I too would like a comment on this. While I am willing to pay the money to advance into tier 9 (only $30 for me) some of my persistent teammates will not be able to. It is a simple question. How will a player obtain these once they rotate out? Store purchase, wait, or not at all?
I also dislike that all three are part of one costume set, so a player could potentially get some but not all of the set. -
Well, she is an immortal, but she's stuck at the age of 16. Sooo, put that up with her abundance of energy, and no, she's a physical type of person who would likely go vigilante if something akin to "The Increibles" took place.

If they're rebooting then hopefully they fixed it to be "not really dead" or "Lazarus pit" or "Starfire found him dead and brought him back to life, and this is there answer to a Starfire/Robin pairing"
-
BrandX: A clone that doesn't age...going on 5 years...and she doesn't look a day older than when she arrived in the city!
Immortality! It's awesome!
-
Whew! That's good to hear! I can pick it up then! It was one I was thinking of picking up (still have to wait till the 24th though for my comic books :/) So hopefully I can get ahold of all the ones I want.

KM is a fun set. It's not an AOE monster no, but then most scrapper sets aren't anyways.
When people say lack luster AOE, I look at Dark Melee, Martial Arts, the swords have better AOE, but it's really not that much better than KM.
Melee are more single target focused for damage, where Blasters are more the AOE specialists...with obvious exception in both cases...so why people who want AOE don't just roll up Fire Melee, Spines or ELM if that's going to be their complaint.
KM is well rounded. PBAOE? Check! Awesome Single Target? Check! Added Range Attack Bonus? Check! -
Quote:I just skipped the books I didn't buy, and just kept to the ones I did. I see why they do the stories (try to get interrest in the other comics of course) but for me, it was "Don't like the character, not going to care to read their PoV on the story arc"This is exactly why I stopped buying comics . I remember it quite clearly actually. It was when Marvel started the The Evolutionary War story arc. It was one of the first big event stories that had been done and Marvel went all out with it. I tried to keep up with all the issues that were needed to understand what the hell was going on, but I gave up when it started crossing over into books I didn't care about and couldn't afford anyway.

Quote:I agree that the buff is a terrible idea. The start back at level 1, but keep the badges however, I see nothing wrong with.Aside from the other arguments you're going to get about this, since at its heart it's the same AT/powerset respec the devs have said no to -
I absolutely disagree with the "Death gives you a buff." And disagree more with them stacking. Why? It takes 5 hours or so to get to 50, *without* exploits. The min/maxers would be *all over* this. A few hours - even "taking longer" each time - and getting PL'd each time for a fairly decent buff? Meanwhile penalizing those who are actually *happy* with their characters and DON'T want to go through this?
No. Absolutely not.
(And by the way, there are no "gimped" powersets. You may not *like* them, but there aren't any that are "gimped.")
Now, setting it up as "Retire the character = the character is no longer accessible (IOs, etc. get sent to a bank or some such,) the name/badges are held for you to use with an *actual* reroll (with the caveat about accolades above,) and you get a 20-25% XP and INF boost from 1-22 (since your "retired" character is "mentoring" the new one,)" or something similar to that... ok. It'd let you keep a few things and give a *reasonable* boost to get them off the ground sooner without being overpowered. -
Dual Pistols/Time Corr for sure! BrandX is getting a reroll! Because this has so far felt like a Dual Pistol powerset combo I can enjoy with the concept (I enjoy other pairings with Dual Pistols, but they just didn't fit the concept).
I may be rerolling my Fire/Dark Corr to a Dark/Fire Defender. Not sure yet. -
Well for Time Manipulation, the Defender will be safer. Higher Defenser numbers, higher -toHit, and higher -DMG.
Time Manipulation for Defenders also has better -Resist, while the -Regen was the same for all of them.
At least last time I can swear that was the case last time I checked. Now mind you it wasn't some big amount of difference.
Solo wise, it may just be enough to make up for Corr's Scourge.
Depending on Defender's Fire Blast numbers, if I was going to go with Fire Blast with my Time Manipulation, I'd possibly choose Defender.
I can settle with waiting till level 28 for Blaze, while I have no interrest in the Snipe, and I can wait on the Nuke (if I took it).
Dual Pistols (and likely all the weapon sets) I want the Tier 9 ASAP
So getting the Time Powers sooner and the higher numbers would likely be my way to go, if I went Fire Blast.
Sonic Blast, I'd go defender as well. Higher -Resist in the blast, I get all the blasts I really care about getting by level 16.
There are quite a few differences in powerset pairings to have me decide which to go with.
If I wanted to go Radiation Blast, I'd choose Corr because of how the powers are ordered.
Basically, waiting to level 28 isn't two bad. Waiting to lvl 35/38 on attacks is.
Though I have to wonder, didn't Turbo_Ski make the ride on her Cold/Ice Defender before the new vigilance buff? Might be a different ride solo for her depending on when she was created (and I don't recall if Cold/Ice was ported before or after the vigilance buff). -
Quote:Time Manip will be free to VIPs.I saw that Time Manipulation launches tomorrow, but I thought that Beam Rifle and Street Justice were i21 sets as well. Am I as confused as always?
Beam Rifle will be available with i21, but must be purchased through the Paragon Market.
Street Justice will coe out after i21, likely after 1 or 2 months.
