I know I asked awhile back about Ice/SM but I ended up scrapping that plan. Now I'm back again but with something different. I've finally leveled a tank past the 20's, mostly grouping with friends and avoiding soloing, and it's not so bad. It's SD/DM and I just got it to 32 earlier. Now to the question...

I noticed that SD/ is a resist lite set and couldn't decide if I should take OwtS and ToF or drop them both for Boxing and Tough? Since it's not to hard to get to the hp cap or pretty close to it, the only thing OwtS is good for is the +recov and some resist. While Tough would provide extra resist all the time. I do plan on softcapping his defense so which do you think would help more?

I said take the 2 slots with the LotG's in them from CJ, leaving just the +Rech, and put the slots into SJ. Then put the full set of Unbounded Leap in SJ for the +HP and stealth proc. The 2 LotG's in CJ doesn't provide much defense since CJ for a dom has a base of 2.125%.

I'm no M3z but there are a few things that stick out to me.

1. Shift the 2 extra LotG from CJ to Super jump and put the full set of Unbounded Leap in it for +hp.
2. Take the Efficacy's out of Stam and put one in SS for the Quickfoot set for more +hp and since SS will most likely be on, it will have a pretty good end reduction in it.
3. You don't have any acc slotted into DP, I prefer 3 Numina's and 3 Pshifters.
4. Switch out Gaussian's for 5 Adjusted Targeting and put the +perception proc in the 6th slot.

I for one absolutely hate using my mouse so I've got everything keybound that I use regularly. That differs from toon to toon so I use a general layout and adjust accordingly.

I'd say you're right about the Immob hurting you more in the early levels. I do, however, disagree about the Immob not being able to out aggro in later levels. I can't count how many times that my Fire/ doms and controllers have stolen the aggro off of taunting tanks and brutes. It may just be me but I swear that both the Immob's generate more aggro than they're suppossed to.

As an example: Earlier I was on a lvl50 team with just myself and 3 brutes(2 of them used taunt alot). For some reason the enemies paid more attention to me when I was spamming Fire Cages and ST attacks than the 3 brutes(2 SS/WP, 1 SS/Fire) using Foot Stomp and Taunt.

Anyone know the difference in threat lvl you generate from using the two Immob's and any other ST and AoE attacks?

80+ minutes just means there is room for improvement. I'm sure Lil wanted to go a certain way with his build and not just for solo'ing AV's. However if he did slot only for an AV build, I'm sure the time would be shorter. That is why I'm curious of his build and since I'm at work I can't watch the video so I can't really tell what his attack chain is.

If you can farm those solo my hats off to you. A spawn of 8 hits for about 5000 points on the alpha. Then its slow going to get through them.

Wasn't phase changed awhile back so hami could hit through it to prevent phase-tanking of hami?

I think phase should stay as is but perhaps hibernate's no phase timer should be reduced.

Hmm.

I ask must ask, would improving the Tanker's aggro handling abilities or giving them increased mez effects make them more interesting and less boring to you?

And if not, what would?

I guess it's just my playstyle that prevents me from really enjoying a tank. Moving through hordes of enemies quickly and trying to see how many spawns I can keep locked down are my favorite so I tend to play Brutes/Doms/Widows/Scrappers/Blasters/Controllers. None of this really never answered your question I suppose so maybe change out gauntlet for something more usefull. I can't really place with what though. I know they do less dmg sans IO's since they have higher base resists/defense but something just feels off and I can't tell what. Perhaps it's the leveling thing since at early levels they generate alot of aggro but are missing shields and mitigation to keep themselves upright. The devs really did brutes and scrappers right since they start off strong and keep that momentum all the way up.

On a side note to the ones claiming brute squishyness:
My favorite brute, and namesake, is Stone/Stone and he really is fun to play. I recently did a major overhaul on him by IO'ing him to the gills. He isn't a tank so he can't keep the best aggro but he can dish out more dmg while being extremly survivable and still keep the team relatively safe. Sure this is only possible with IO slotting but it wasn't necessary. There are quite a few brute combinations that are capable of surviving and managing aggro fairly well.
