  1. Put down Brick Rage Earth Domination/Earth Assault Dominator.
  2. Just got back from extensive test (was in both the closed and open betas) and I have to say balance is a MAJOR issue over there. With PvP being built in to a system where you can-quite literally in fact!-make yourself invincible. I did so with one of my characters, the result was less than satisfying; I will go so far to say that PvP is more borken there than here by a LOOOOONG shot.

Overall the lower-level gameplay is decent and enjoyable for the most part, buuuut the game starts to take a slide with the higher end content. How so? The sheer challenge of some of the in-game instances were revamped to be nigh impossible without mass death. Melee is very clunky while range functions fluently, something I do NOT like being that I love melee-oritened characters. Nothing sucks more than standing there charging up an attack only to have the enemy juuuuust slightly move out of range.

The bloom is gorgeous in CO, although I will agree the graphics are a little too cartoony for my tastes.

Another big issue I had were certain travel powers. Why go any other travel power when teleport offers instant escape from fights, superior base speed, and even phasing stealth to allow you to avoid detection. Almost every form of flight (and acrobatics) is so slow you HAVE to waste 2 advantage points to even feel comfortable using them. Then some travel powers are just plain out of like-I.E. tunneling, superspeed, and acrobatics-when attempting to traverse certain areas.

The final issue I have here is thelack of explanation for certain powers, effects, and worst of all SuperStat information. The sheer annoyance of attempting to figure out how some of them work without going back to the original closed beta format is just an unnecessary evil.

All in all it's a decent game I give about a 6.9 to. Definitely needs to upgrade more as a game before I commit more than a hundred and fifty dollars to it.
  3. I don't know what EA you were running, but I quite enjoy mine.

illusion/therm? Hmmm, I'd suggest taking assault to combat the annoyance of the pets getting aggro'd by the illusion pets. I would probably look in to picking up Black Scorpion simply for power boost (and possibly the web grenade, although defense is gimp on MMs in PvP).

You're gonna have to face facts that you can't just leave the pets in BG mode to protect you. IF you do, then the illusion controller WILL win out in the end, so I suggest making sure you are well prepared to focus primarily on the illusion controller him/herself with your pets. Don't be afraid to pick up any necessary endurance bonuses or unique recipies to help you with any problems you may have with your blue bar.

If you can outlast the illusion controller you will eventually win, unless they have hover or super speed. (Of course those final factors depend on if the controller is a runner).

    *hopes they bought it*
Remember that not "every" Mastermind combo can solo Giant Monsters. I still think Traps and Dark Miasma need a looking at, maybe Storm as well.

    Dear Devs...

Either that or give them more realistic attacks to fight their natures, such as the Mercs using the butt of their guns WITHOUT the stun effect. Maybe even give the commando a knife or something and make his melee combat unique.

Traps is good if you're fighting idiots. Teleport Foe causes a phase period on your opponent, so TP+Mines is now not an option in PvP. I WILL give you that you'll score a kill sometimes should your enemy decide to have a field day in your mine patch. Traps used to be a much more advantageous set, but now it's not exactly in the top secondaries for MMs.

I'd go with Pain or Poison on this one. Thermal when it comes out. Definitely take storm if you think you can handle it.

This, right here, is why MA should be a brute set.

    Freaking Brutal.
    Cleats, man, cleats.

I agree, brutal. Makes me now want to make a MA/SR Soccer playing Brute...

    1. I don't want in. It totally ruins the excitement of a new issue going live when you've been playing it for a month.

    2. Because of #1 I would spend about 2 hours taking a Claws/WP Brute to lvl 10, check out the animations for MA and SS on existing characters and then quit and never test anything.

    3. I'm unemployed and need to stay focused. Beta would only be a distraction.

So there you go. Now I'm sure to get a closed beta invite soon.

Glad I'm not the only one, JDouble.

As for the boards lol. It is actually quite shocking how many people do not bother. Which exactly why Ive always wanted them to implement some kind of in game survey system. Something that would actually get to every player that is currently active. The forum users are a realatively small minority, admittedly a vocal one.
Which is why I stress they explain Forums and Test Server usage in the tutorial with an expansive walkthrough. Maybe position the contact by the information koisk and make him/her tech-like.

And Serum right now is worthless. I'd love an Air-Strike power. MM nuke!

The Spec Ops do use the Tear Gas, but the visual isn't very strong, and I find it easy to overlook. I do agree with the suggested reduction in recharge for Tear Gas and Flash Bang; too long for not enough effect.

    And a pony. I want a pony.
Well the only thing I see wrong with "Air-Strike", is that, combined with detonator, a Merc MM can meta-bomb a spawn for massive damage and little risk at all. I would suggest something along the lines of resupply (Pet Only: full heal, full endurance, 30% damage increase, instantly recharges Pet Summons), Focus Fire (somewhat like a Bane's Surveillance, only it directs Pet attacks onto a single target rapidly weakning it and giving the pets an increased damage bonus when doing so), Black Ops (basically gives stealth to all pets for a limited duration granting them Stealth Strike capabillities only when their "Hidden" status is up), or possibly give them an Air Strike with limited damage (probably a weaker nuke like the Crab's Omega Maneuver).

I do agree Serum needs a huge overall, and I think tear Gas should actually have canisters on the ground releasing fumes much like Poison Trap or Volcanic Gases.

I just dinged 50 (first one redside w00t!) last night and slotted my first purple enhancement EVAR! Before long and with a lot of farming, I'll have a build capable of ****** GM's. (In case you're wondering, Ragnarok: Chance for Knockdown in caltrops.)
I would've sold the knockdown proc for more infamy than the proc itself is worth in caltrops. Bots/Traps is usually the highest success chance build for downing GMs, and I consider it the "Easy Mode" for soloing such enemies. Taking a step down from a build like that will be a smack in the face when attempting to down GMs, especially with melee-type mastermind primaries such as Zombies or Ninjas. The reason Bots/Traps performs so well is its high amounts of defense, good regen debuffing, ranged strikes, and the ability to hold an enemy in place using Web Grenade.

While Bots/Traps my have an amazing amount of "well-rounded" utility, Bots/Dark will floor the GM's Regen while providing absolutely devastating damage debuffs, so much so that a GM's regular "lolz I smashed ur petz" attack that does eye-popping damage will be debuffed to the point that you'll be shrugging off the damage as if it was listed "Minor". Of course this takes skill as well because Dark does, in fact, lack the extra utility, defense buffs, and rooting power of Web Grenade.

I've seen Ninjas/Dark down Gms, and on VERY RARE occassions seen a /Poison down a Giant Monster, but that's only if you've got great endurance, well slotted pets, well slotted upgrades (basically shunting the costs down to possibly 19), a LOT of patience, and a good amount of anger control. Anyways, good luck to you.
  19. Remember they have a chance to proc every 10 seconds, and that also a proc has its own ToHit check on opponents.
  20. Do it in Sharkhead and then I'll be slightly impressed. Do it with something other than Bots/ and I'll be even more impressed (Thugs aside). Nah, but seriously, good job on downing your first "controlled" Giant Monster.

45% resist against tier1 still equals instakill, you even put them in a location where they perform even worse (they are ranged, cone based). Maybe the seals might be usefull for it, using commando is a waste imho.

    Lets take the other sets:
Repair - meh, but for tier3 bot its a instant full heal.
Extract essence - wooo, free pet, can be immume, slot for recharge intensive pet.
Call gang war - woo again, lotsa pets, funny and slot for recharge intesive pet.
smoke bomb - wooo, 10 seconds of perma critting. (soaring dragonfly is wah dmg).

So the way i see it, they all increase damage or increase survivability greatly.

Why not give it something interesting? Few randoms:
Super-equip: give 1 pet high-tech weaponry from the army, commando gets a gatling gun, seals get a airstrike/tripbombs, tier1 pets get grenade launcher.
Airstrike: call forth a airstrike, damaging anyone at the targeted location. Casting is short, but it takes a while for the plains to get into position.
Army Serum: based on original serum, but affect all pets. Give 25% resist, 25% health boost, minor regen/recovery.
Ammo Supply: by using state of the art ammo, all mercs will have additional abilities with their bullets. Commando deals 25% more dmg, seals get a res/def debuff, soldiers gain 10% boost.
I was totally tired when I wrote that. Like 4 A.M. stuff.
