Honestly, mercs is the set that feels the most "Mastermind-ish" of all of them other than bots. You know, the whole COBRAAAAAAA! feeling.
Now if only we could get them the uniforms...

Not very well experineced with villains.

Mercs themselves deal mainly lethal (with the exception of the Commando dealing Fire occasionally from his Flamethrower). That, and their attack animations put a dent in their possible DPS output as a whole. Another weakness they have is that the Mercs have only the medic to put their hopes on as a form of relief. Unfortunately the Medic has a grenade and shorter range, which undoubtedly gets him killed first in certain situations.

If you take Traps or Pain Domination with Mercs you will not be disappointed, as both work wonderfully with the set. The good thing about Mercs, is that they almost never feel the need to engage in melee!
  4. Necromancery and Ninjas could be considered in some cases. Ninjas for crowd chaos and heavy single target damage, and Necromancery for decent AoE, heavy single target damage and massive double debuffs from two Lich pets (pretty extreme right there). All up to your play style, although 4 Spec Ops would be pretty tasty.

Necro bad? Ninjas bad? Who's telling you this? All henchmen usually die easily as well. Necro will not die easily at all if you pair it up with /Dark, /Pain, /whatever. Thugs and Bots are waaay overrated. Roll what you what and what you feel like. Mercs are slightly gimped to be honest, but I'm hoping Mercs will get an update soon!

Ninjas: Ninjas do some serious single target damage. Ninjas CAN kill an AV IF the player knows what they are doing and have the appropriate secondary for doing this. Ninjas are not only heavy single hitters, but they can cause some extreme crowd chaos post 32. Raif of Fire, Caltrops, explosives, etc. Ninjas are great with Traps, Force Fields, Dark Miasma, and Storm Summoning. In fact, they're good with whatever you enjoy laying intelligently.

Necromancery is a powerful pet primary, do not EVER let someone tell you it's weak. Zombies hit hard, arguably harder than Ninjas themselves. While the Tier 3 Pet may do limited damage he's a BEAST of a debuffer. Slot him with ToHit, Control, and Accuracy for the absolutely best results. Almost anything works with Necromancery so long as it is used intelligently as your secondary. Trick Arrow may give you the occasional headache (but when doesn't it?).

The other primaries are just as good as Thugs and Robotics in their own ways (Except Mercenaries sadly but they're still a fun primary to play!).

  7. I, for one, would welcome our foreign friends. I'd love to have some EU players on the US servers.
  8. We're humans, we were born to compete against each other in some way or form. I think it's only natural we seek challenges higher than AI controlled enemies. Coming from a guy who loves PvE almost as much as PvP, I can say the old system was heaps better. I wouldn't mind PvP changes that are beneficial rather than harmful to the system.

But that's limiting a decent amount of your AoE damage and stuns. They don't run in that often to have to keep them on passive for the time being.
  10. AVs feel like they were made to roll ver AVs.

(As a side note refrain from bumping excessively)

Thugs/Thermal? You kidding me? That can easily curb stomp an Archvillain so long as you know what the heck you're doing. Bring break frees, bring taunt, bring anything you can get that will keep YOU alive during the fight. So long as your minature thugs stay out of ol' Paul Bunion's AoEs you'll do fine. Be sure to spam Heat Exhaustion and Melt Armor if you have 'em. Try to keep Forge on the Bruiser. Etc, etc, etc.

You're Thermal, of course you're gonna rip some AVs a new one.
  11. Hey, you built them with a hammer arm so they're gonna use it, right?

That aside it can be annoying. Mercs love to do this, although it's worse on the Prot Bots than it is on some of the other ranged henchies with brawl.

    tankermind i16

As a FF Mastermind you'll be having no basic need for Hasten unless you really, really, really don't want to slot Provoke. It needs Accuracy modifying enhancements kind badly, especially if you're going to be fighting enemies who shrug off taunt or are a good few levels higher than you.

Aid Self is a must, especially with your below average defense before you get your patron shield from Black Scorpion. Try to slot if for 2 heal, 2 recharge, 2 interrupt and it should work like a charm.

Leadership? Sure. Always goes great with FF.

Stanima? Definitely. I don't care if you are FF you will feel the burn on your blue bar if you go without stanima. Running both leadership and dispersion bubble toggles will already be a nightmare, but if you try to bubble with your toggles going like that you won't get past your pets let alone your teammates.

Your travel power could very well be what you see fit. Take hasten if you want, that's up to you. In my mind hover or combat jumping are NEVER a bad thing on a FF Mastermind who's got questionable defense to exotic damage.

Besides, if you're feeling the hurt hit up your Personal Force Field and have fun for the few seconds taunt is up.

    I oddly approve.
  14. I really don't see anything wrong with having minions at the BM. Seriously, they do not block your access to the Black Market Shady. If they are you've got something wrong going on. If they don't like MM pets so what? You're obviously there to get your business done and get out. I'd be more annoyed with power spam, although nothing really bothers me using Wentworths or the Black Market. If they get annoyed that easily they've got some issues.
  15. Dunno why it matters I guess. I like the colors green and red, but I love purple the most.
  16. The Time Capsule will be a portal to a task force to help the Omega Team invade the Rikti Homeworld while fighting through endless hordes of new Rikti Enemies from the past in the old version of the RWZ, the Rikti Crash Site.

Battle your way on board the massive ship's hull much like a Rikti Raid encountering resistance and aid on both sides. With Hero 1 and his team with you, you're sure to succeed, correct? Let's just say it's going to be harder than it seems, even with Omega team on your side.

After cutting a swaff through the Rikti Force you'll make your way down an open air vent into the true belly of the beast. After planting bombs in routine areas you make your way to the Rikti Homeworld portal guarded by some of the most omniously powerful warriors and mental manipulators the Rikti Army had to offer.

Or maybe it's just a couple of old photos and some ziplock bags with cheese?
  17. After looking over the set a bit more the Medic still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This guy needs a serious overhaul, and I propose he get some upgrades along with it.

Num.1: His healing is too weak and slow to be noticeable. He uses stimulant enough, but his med kit power is just took slow and too weak to make a difference. Being the Medic he should heal more and heal often, or at least be able to use the medical kit uninterrupted.

Num.2: Let's say he could have some new fancy powers. First off I'd be awesome for him to be a bit more of a medic by being able to also heal himself, revive a fallen pet (with a good timer size), or even have some more "combat" biological weapons. I know it's not exactly going with the whole medic feel, but what if the medic could use a sort of poison trap-like power, except with a shorter hold time, long recharge, and much smaller "activated" period? Just my thoughts on that.

Now I'm thinking about the Commando here. What if he could summon a Gun Drone? I just feel he's lacking slightly for a Tier 3 Pet. Don't bring the Lich on me either, because he's not lacking in any way. Uber control and debuffage is sweet in exchange for minimal damage.

Anyways, what do you guys think? I feel the Medic, Spec Ops, and Commando need a look at power-wise (the Spec Ops having been discussed already of course!).

I didn't expect miracles. No one got powers that morphed. I think golems would be great, but all I was looking at was the ability to change the colors of the pets and the attack powers. Even if changing the pets was too difficult, why not be able to change the attack powers?

If it was so difficult then why not just add it bit by bit, rather than calling it an Issue that doesn’t affect a sizable portion to the player base. It just seems to me that many powersets got nothing in the way of power customization.

Generally when an Issue has come out it has more or less affected everyone, with the exception or powerset balancing tweaks of course.

And just for the record Clouded, I am VERY flexible, thank you for noticing.

I do agree I'm very happy they gave customization at all to some sets, and I, too, would love the option to customize pets. I'm not picky, I can wait. Just be patient, they'll get the rest customizable soon, but this was just the first step in getting everything colorable. Yes, it's true, some powersets got shafted. BUT! Some did get color customization. I don't think it'll kill anyone to wait for a few updates to the color system, right?
  19. Why are you picking up maneuvers again...? I doubt it's gonna be worth the slots or the trouble.
  20. Note: VEATs cannot customize themselves.

Do you really think the developers are 100% transparent when it comes to revealing every last thing they do to the game? If so, you have the right to believe that.

I am also amused at the idea that business decisions are automatically "conspiracies." All times when the game is adjusted to address "balance issues" are "conspiracies"? to hear people like you tell it, yes. The only people shouting "Conspiracy!" are people like you... a business-meeting where developers discuss issues is.... a business-meeting.

This attempt to polarize the issue has failed, please drive through. Next.
You have just earned a golf clap.

    Halloween event?

It appears I'll have some duties to preform at Halloween this year on Untimely Gentlemen...

    Splendid.

When the lights go out zombies roam about! A cup of tea for me before we see the city of the night, although filling children with terror and fright is a reward of its own; a gentleman's parade this year will be made! An Untimely parade at that.

    Huzzah!!
