  1. The point was vague, sorry I missed it.

    1) How do I slot the Soul Extraction? I don't know what this pet excels at at all, really. As I see it doing a nice spread of damage and control.

    2) How do I slot the Lich? I know he's a control/debuff monster. Should I just do 2 Acc/ 2 ToHit Debuff/ 2 Hold? Also, are strictly all Hami-Os the way to go with this guy when I get to 50?

    3) How do I slot the Dark Servant as well? No idea on this one.

    4) What set bonuses are best to shoot for? I have no idea what might benefit me most.

    5) What's a good APP/PPP to go with? I was thinking Soul Mastery so I could get Oppressive Gloom for even more lockdown, but is that overkill?

That's all I've been thinking about for now. Thanks.

    1) 4 slot it for the Unique Pet IOs. Never look back.

    2) Frankenslot for Accuracy and Accuracy Debuff. Hold and Fear bonuses are also nice on him.

    3) Accuracy, Accuracy Debuff, Heal (optional), Recharge. Actually, you can just go Accuracy and Recharge. At this point your enemy is barely hanging on to their 5% ToHit.

    4) I don't usually bother with set bonuses, but when I do I shoot for +HP and resistance to holds. With your -ToHit debuffs you could probably shoot for Defense bonuses if they fit in with your build. Helps when that AV has a stun or two that nicks off all your debuffs.

    5) Yes, overkill. Not having played in a year (don't really know the APP for Villains) I would suggest Black Scorpion for the Defense shield. However, endurance will be an issue against AVs solo, so look for anything that gives a little extra endurance mitigation.

    The Point

  4. Nin/Poison a bad build? Son, it used to wreck in PvP before a team of damn dirty apes decided to mess things up. I've got one at level 36 and I eat bosses alive. Single Target damage on this thing is incredible.
  5. I dunno, Serum needs to either be changed or replaced, and personally I think a change would be better.

So I was sorta tossing the idea around with Serum that it could include a taunt similar to Gauntlet and not include a crash. This way, you could use your Commando as a point man or tank to mop up extra aggro with Serum.

However, I also realize many people wish for Serum to be used on players with reduced effects (about 2/3) and no crash. This could be a pretty nice addition, but I see balance issues with it.

I'm gonna have to go back through and see which ideas are the best to implement with Mercenaries and add them to the main post. I'll e-mail all of the suggestions which are appropriate to the dude who oversees Power Balance (I didnt know Castle left. Link?).
  6. Caltrops is your friend. No, really, Caltrops is your FRIEND. Melee mobs? You just won the game thanks to Caltrops. Enemies closing in? Caltrops. Bots getting swarmed? Caltrops (maybe some detonator/mines).

What's up? Did I miss anything?

A Crab or a Fort for all the lovely ranged AOE. Why not a Bane or Night Widow? Because trying to be in melee when all those demons are clambering around I've found to be a nightmare.
Not so much so since you can easily push them aside, and considering it's only 1 Mastermind there won't be a high stacking amount of collision. (Ahem. I'm looking at you Spelunkering Mastermind team!).

  12. As I have stated before, Mercs need a more thematic power that would work in all environments. I had brought up a suggestion that Serum should be replaced with a power that would change the ammo type (temporarily) of each (or all if it would be more beneficial) Mercenary individually, giving Mercs a good, steady ground with a couple of different damage types and included debuffs. (This power would work much like change ammo for Dual Pistols).

    Also:

    1) Reduce Commando LRM Rocket Cooldown to 45 seconds

    2) Reduce Spec Ops Flash Bang and Tear Gas grenade recharges to 25 seconds

    3) Slightly increase cone radius' for all Mercenary attacks
  13. For better or for worse I'm always in the open. Good PUG. Bad PUG. It's all the same to me. If **** goes wrong it can be hilarious, and if things go just right it's like magic, ya know? I enjoy the experience of teaming even if things are mind numbingly awful (that, and my odd sense of humor combined with my easily amused self adds for a delightful combination). I mean I always have the option of declining if I don't feel like it, right? Just a simple no if it's a tell, or a simple decline if it is a blind invite.

    I > Team

*Sigh* Another complaint thread about poor team members, or in this case a publicized opinion on a team member(s)...

Wasn't there a specific thread for this somewhere? If not then there needs to be one.

Sorry, on an MM, hellfire -RES debuffs are far more effective.

    Why punish the cold demonling?

It forces me to slot for endred in the demonlings for only ONE pet?

Can they just make this one exception?
Frankenslot. It's your best friend in this case. I can't tell you the wonders it will bring to the damage, endurance, and accuracy of your pets. So long as you try to keep everything balanced you'll do well. Maybe sacrifice a yellow IO for a Damage/Endurance/Accuracy, and another yellow IO for Accuracy/Endurance (that is to say unless you can grab another D/E/A from another set). You can't go wrong with a little bit of Frankenslotting, my friend.
  16. Demons being in melee with a set that performs VERY well in melee is a bad thing because...?

Everything synergizes perfectly when they enter melee (and if you add on the debuffs and occasional heal from Dark Miasma).

You may not get very many bonuses, but you'll perform at your peak. Psy and I are in agreement on this one. Frankenslotting is your best bet for some very satisfying results and I *do* mean some very satisfying results.
  18. I think the biggest advantage is the relief of not having to keep the fury bar filled all the damn time. I also enjoy the criticals rather than building rage. Just because GR will be introduced does not mean Scrappers will fall off the map to Brutes.
  19. If you are looking to be a bit more protected as a Traps Mastermind then seek out the Black Scorpion Patron Pool. Grabbing the shield is never a bad thing, and you'll happily enjoy your added Defense to S/L/E.

As people have said Serum is a little "meh". However, if you don't need anything power-wise for a pick at a certain level then happily take Serum. Yes, every 5 minutes or so (sometimes less depending upon if you have a corpse to drag around for Conduit of Pain) you will have a god-like Commando. Kinda funny to see an unstoppable force meet an immovable object, especially when your Commando is enjoying the punishment of an Archvillain (give or take a few). Not really necessary to have Serum, but it's always funny to watch.
  21. For the best results mix in a Damage/Accuracy/Endurance enhancement, and then substitute an Accuracy IO for an Accuracy/Damage enhancement if they're being stubborn even after the first one didn't work. That way you keep a good amount of accuracy and you aren't sacrificing an entire slot to endurance.
