    Who is monkey?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Monkey is the name of a TV series made in Japan concerning a Chinese legen, as I recall. Not sure why the original person used the reference since Monkey would do just about anything he was allowed to get the job done. Something by Kurowsawa might have been a better choice, The Seven Samauri perhaps.

Aha, i see you know your classics!

who cares about honour? I just wanna beat the [censored] out of ya.

Obviously i do care about manners alot. And maybe someday you can have a try Night...

    Fair play?

    [ QUOTE ]

A true warrior would live by the rules of honour and respect in and outside battle. A samourai would commit seppuku from shame when he'd act like many people in the zones do. To stick with the picture: they are like shameless ninja's: no honour. -for the record i'm not just talking stalkers here, although they fit the picture best being stealthy assasins.

    Who is monkey?

    [ QUOTE ]

A person in a PvP zone has activly opted into a zone in which they may be attacked at any time. Just because a person is hanging around in Sirens watching a duel, they are not "honourable". They have done nothing to earn my "respect". Thats not the issue. It is not "bad manners" to attack them. In my book it is

Now, if people would set up fake duels to lure in the unwary, they would truely be worthy of respect. Gotta admit the quality of the sheer cleverness of this being well executed deserves respect indeed

    *laughs*

I know you've been trying to find ways to have a go at me ever since we crossed paths in a Controller thread that I proved you incorrect in, but could you maybe be a little less obvious in stalking me? It'll be more fun for both of us that way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing like this ever happened afaik so i don't know what you talking about?
It could have been someone elses quote just the same, but it happened to be yours. Nothing personal here.
That you take it personally is your thing, but just don't try shove it in someone elses shoes. As you said let's keep it fun

Btw i don't like stalkers, so myself i'd never stalk anyone. You are giving yourself way too much credit.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
You're expecting Villians to act with honor?

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, but we're players, not heroes, not villains, but PLAYERS. If you want to roleplay a specific kind of character, a person can feel free too. The difference is, actual roleplay is consensual, the parties involved in roleplay know that they are interacting with a constructed personna for the sake of storylines, drama and entertainment. If someone tries to roleplay with someone who isnt roleplaying in return, then you are inflicting your character upon someone else. Having a villain character is not an excuse to act like a moron AS A PLAYER interacting with other players.

I havent been following this thread, too many pages to catch up and I dont expect anything of worth, or anything new to appear that we dont already know or havent already thought of. Hope I didnt miss some point that came prior to what I quoted, but honestly, I get sick of hearing it like it has some bearing on things :P

PvP don't mean to be stupid.
    ifyou say clearly that you duel. comming in theduel is not PvP. it's being annoying or stupd or whatever;

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yet its perfectly OK to call people names for playing the game the way its meant to be played. Look, it doesnt matter if your duelling, helping out with meteors, dancing, doing missions, picking your nose or admiring the scenery. Its an open pvp zone, if you want to duel go to the arena.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reminder.. behaving maliciously is not accepted in pvp zones or anywhere else, be careful with your "calling names"..

    To Ken-Titus:

Point is that interrupting a duel is NOT considered 'behaving maliciously', griefing or anything. The PvP zones ARE open PVP zones like marquandDance said. The devs have made this clear numerous times.

I always try to urge people not to duel or 'expect manners' from people in PVP zones while myself I wont interrupt duels if I know there is one going on. Simply because I dont want to [censored] off people.. I will however attack people travelling to missions, patrolling or killing pve mobs because Im expected to. The threat of getting attacked by player is the justification for better rewards in pvp zones after all. Theres no logical reason to leave player enemies alone in the zones..

I guess what Im trying to say is.. even if I may help people in pvp zones or leave duelers alone or whatever, don't expect or demand that others do the same..

I do get annoyed everytime someone claims something like "Dont attack me, I'm/we are just doing *insert_random_activity_here*".

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Manners, honour and respect.

That's what's lacking too much in the PvP zones. No matter which way you look at it, using the official arguments provided and ackownledged by the devs that stating as long as you don't use exploits or cheats everything is allowed, seems to be reason enough for many ppl to forget these aspects.

In some way i don't blame them, they play by the construct of the game, but in another way i really do.
The official rules are indeed that anyone may kill any other anytime as long as he is not using exploits or cheats. I know many people think this way and exactly this mentality is what i have problems with.

Take this said stalker Ken-Titus for example. He was so kind to help some heroes with the meteor mish and when he sat down with them after being done, the same folks he just helped killed him!!? This is truly really bad form imo!!! I just can't believe people here condone this kind of behaviour and think it's justified as it's a pvp zone and anything goes.

You can say that the above may not be a typical every minute action and some maybe even will frown upon this, but it absolutely reflects the intrinsical general attitude very much.
I don't like to whine, but also i don't like to be frustrated by all these many folks with bad attitudes either, hence i avoid the PvP zones like the plague. I still go to arena sometimes for some good old pawning and fun, but mostly for test purposes. And on very, very rare occasions I venture into sirens or warburg, but most of times only to be dissappointed again by lack of respect, honour and good manners. All in all it's absolutely not worth it for me.
When the massive shift towards PvP after CoV came in play, i massively shifted away from it after the initial big fun me and old friends had in Warburg. (Sigh, the good old times ) Bad mentality prolly being the most important reason for this.

I know it's the way many ppl choose play it nowadays and justify it by saying they will because they can, so i choose just to not play along with them and therefore unfortunately have to discard the pvp zones. It's a shame really, because i absolutely love to PvP, but with the way it is now i just can't enjoy the zones really.

I'm not trying to blame anyone in particular- i'm past that. When playing by the rules is ofcourse perfectly fine, it's just the lack of respect, honour and good manners that really bothers me.
All the ganking, backstabbing, whining, childish acts, lame excuses, ranting and stupid remarks over broadcast/local, etc really puts me off.

I believe it's unreal to think this will ever change to a really sophisticated lvl, because it's a MMO and so many different types of anonymous ppl hiding behind their computers feeling untouchable and saying "Get over it you n00b, it's only a game. I pay for it so i can do anything i want and you can't do anything about it as long as i play by the rules!"
    Bah! The line is thin...

But i really do hope that morals will rise to such a lvl (as some of you might have deduced already i have pretty high standards P) so that more ppl will be able to really enjoy how great PvP can be and being able/allowed to ingnore the in fact inevitable peripheral bogus stuff and focus on what it's about: Honourable fighting.

Lastly one more quote to illustrate my point:

Then THAT fellow pointed out he'd been watching a fight, which I couldn't see, over broadcast.

I don't know about anyone else, but I love fighting spectators - not because it provides a fun PvP experience, or any sort of challenge, but for the wonderful flow of messages over /b and /tells both during and afterwards.

    spectator > "im not here 2 fite!!11!1"
    > spectator "But you *have* to fight on your first night."
spectator > "OMG STOP ATAKIN ME U [censored]"
spectator /l "WILL SUMONE KILL KURO HES ATAKIN ME AN IM TRYIN 2 WATCH FIGHT"

spectator /b "OMG YOUR SUCH A NEWB ***** U SUK"

  5. /em totally agree. Btw how you doing you green bubble man?
  6. I played a TA troller all the way and i agree TA has some really nice features, in itself pretty good for pvp too. But the drawing time, animation times and recharge are too much imo.
Fire/TA, might work pretty nice 1 vs 1- e.g. like said perception debuff is brill-, but untill they funk up TA, i don't think it will make a good overall pvp set.
  7. Kin in general, and even much more a kin troller greatly benefits from sj pool. Not as much for sj itself -inertial reduction does a good job in that area-, but for the status protection cj+acro provide.

Playing a kin means you'll best be in thick of it and a lot of mezz and knockback will come your way. Just think of the many mobs FS will agro on you... You dont want to be incapacitated, especially not when you are a x/kin troller, because you have a lot controlling to do. For a kin def this applies to (a much) lesser extend.
Ofcourse you can have CM on you- no knockback protection though-, but personally i wouldn't have wanted to go without those cj+acro. It hugely benefits solo and small team capacity. It's just too good to pass.
  8. "Yeah, bring on that non sense, just as long as it's sensible enough.

    Nice one!

    We now have:

    1. Kronos X
    2. Stainless Steel
    3. Deluge
    4. Halo
    5. Tank - possibly Artist of Shredding
    6. Controller - Cathy Wheel
    7. Controller - Blue Note
    8. Defender - Kaya X

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny Halo that you write down all the AT's with the participating characters, except for the blasters. As if...
  9. Hell yeah I'm up for a nice TF Halo. I'll bring a troller to mess up the mobs together with Cathy.

A Forcefielder can get by perfectly well by taking only the "big three" shield powers. The knockback is less useful in general, but still has some applications.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only took one of the Big Three and went with the "less useful" knockback powers. I guess I suck. I'm happy as long as i'm not a buffbot

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh my, down the drain goes the reputation of "ons hollanders" being safe

Thnx for putting it up here Lui, next time display your sources though. But nuff said.
  13. Not to worry at all Spag. Keeping out of melee is evident perfectly valid tactics and you were on a confined roof after all...!
Deducing from your story it sounds like a sad bunch you met there. And oh bejezus that blaster sniping you was a very very pathetic and cheap thing to do. He really needs some good spanking.
  14. Blue_Note

    PvP Respec

    Aye agree phantasm worth it.

Arch you really go into every detail, that's almost too nice. You must be having a "i wanna do good day" And spectral terror is perma without recharge indeed, didn't check the numbers before, so fear duration would be better i concur.

    [ QUOTE ]
-The leadership pool isn't essential at all even though it's nice to have. Put 2 accuracies into your attacks (even if you have tactics)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tactics is way beyond nice to have, the to hit buff is very good to have and the +perception... i really don't need to say more.
  15. Blue_Note

    PvP Respec

    He red,

    Few things:

-lack of accuracy: best put 2 accu in your attacks except FR maybe. Think you can pull the 2 slows out of snowstorm and better use those elsewhere.
-Also think of trying to work in assault+tactics in your build, tactics is pretty much essential for a PvPing troller.
-Try to slap 1 (or maybe 2 if you can afford it) rech red in spectral terror. Fear is one of your strongest PvP materials and you want in up as much as possible.

Have fun terrorizing the PvP zones

Think hating stalkers will soon be replaced with hating to play em tbh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well that's at least a positive progression
  18. I very much agree with nighbringer:

-Id is very teamfriendly and your imps love you for it too. E.g. Carnies, malta, rikti, nem all do a lot of mezz stuff and knockback too, and you want those imps getting down to it instead of being incapcitated by stuns/holds or knocked over the place. ID is the key to keep them going. Although i must admit its class entertainment to watch stunned imps racing around on sb like some drunk cart racers

-also imo sj pool is the way to go for an kin. Being in the thick of things, you get a lot of heat going your way and having cj+acro is absolutely priceless. Hover is a viable solution for countering just the knockback troubles, but it just can't beat acro for it totally negating knockback and adding some hold protection. Still stuns are very annoying...

-and yes siph speed could really do with a second accu.
  19. Tsk, Tsk. You are just saying that.

One thing no one has mentioned here yet, but shouldn't be left out amongst the many other existing reasons: A few do it mainly for what you call "pride in reputation" Gorgo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OMG, what a sad, really bad censorship this is...

But as i was saying; pvp offers way more opportunities to boost your ego then PvE does and some ppl really like that aspect.

And ofcourse there is the fun and real challenge of fighting more or less unpredictable opponents in a fast paced environment where coordination and communication plays a much more important role and where knowing thy enemy and thy friends is more vital then ever. Sounds like fun
  21. You're right indeed Arch. I did some actual testing with stopwatch and the holds in VG don't affect the time of it to be active, but it appears to affect the time the pulses hold the mobs. (stupidly enough, more logical and sensible would be for hold duration to prolong the power active all in all)
Still its the best AoE hold in the game. EM pulse comes in second, but VG being a pulse power AND being location based and having a shorter recharge just makes it outshine all others

Looks good on a nice dude like you. So what alts we gonna hook up now since your 40's are done for....?
  24. [ QUOTE ]

Volcanic Gasses, 3 recharges is really all it needs. Not too sure about what effect the holddurations does in this since it's a pulsing hold.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Adding the hold duration makes the patch lie there longer and keep pulsing it's juicy hold (Best damn AoE hold (slap a quicksand on it) in the game if you ask me)

Good thinking about the end redux in ss. I have ss running standard (almost) all the time on toons which are equipped with it and an endredux is good use to drop a surplus of slots later on. (btw really odd that sprint costs more end then ss...)

P.S. I used one of my slots at 50 to add dam to firecages, adds a lil more dam whith containment and fulcrum+siphon power. Just didn't have a better place to put that slot...
  25. [ QUOTE ]
If you're getting stone cages, might as well 6-slot it, some end and damage. Also, put 3 rechargers in consume, will help with endurance management.

    [/ QUOTE ]

6 slotting stonecages?? what the... can you please give us the adress of the store where you buy your extra capacity of slots?
