you need both, asap. no kidding, they are both must have as soon as you can
Total Domination is the signature power of the set. It is your uber.
Mass Hypnosis is a great lead into every fight (it doesnt agro anything, just lets you set the stage) and recharges pretty fast, making it a great panic button too. -
Yes, I will get LOTGs. My main (a brute) has around 1,300 merits saved (never used them) from soloing all red content and lotsa SF. So that will get me those.
By stop working I actually meant in the other direction, going downwards. So, at level 44, a level 50 I/O (non-purple) no longer enhances. But if I had a set of them, would their set bonuses (including global rech) still count at level 44, or 30? -
Sweet tips, thanks. I plan on using purples, of course. But I will start the bidding process now, and have everything filled over the next couple weeks. Also, thanks for the reminder on the 5 level thing, as that is very important. Do set bonuses still work (I should know this, but am tired, and lazy), or do they stop working as the enhancers do? Delicate balance there, definitely.
This will change my end curve considerably, with a full bar popping regular, and since I am running a mind/psi it looks like I can drop the fitness pool completely. Yeah! More cool powers. -
I am planning on making my current character Perma Dom when I hit 50. Since I have never had a Perma Dom I have one question. When you reactivate Dom, each time you do, does that fill your End bar each time, or just the very first time?
-
I have been poking around (successfully) through the Dom board and have found quite a few goodies. I am especially intrigued to learn of the usefulness of a Mind dom on the LRSF (I do love a good 50 SF) My brute is only so useful there, since if things are going well he seems moderately useful, and if things start to fall apart all he can do is stand and die (although I have been able to take a loooooong time doing that, it is of little consolation)
I am still enjoying the build, now at 25th (leveling slowing during the work week) Hopefully it will get even better through the 30s, and it looks like it will.
My big question now is when to start feathering in the I/Os with Rech in mind. I usually (with brutes) just do SOs until 47+ and then drop in I/Os at that time, but it seems with Doms I may want to reconsider that. Any rech gets that Dom up faster, and my major hold powers too. I still want to balance that with getting good accuracy enhanced powers, or it won't mean much. (I usually put in 2 SOs ACC in every major power, cause you never know what team leader thinks all purp enemies are the bestest in the worlds, and of course, enhancing holds and damage is a good thing too.) -
I could not play Doms for the life of me for a long time. My first I ran to 32, and it was painful. Then I stopped and went back to my standards, brutes. I went through a phase where I ran a Dom of each type Fire/Psi, Mind/Psi, Ice/Ice, etc., and concurrently leveled the eight of them to around 24. Still sucked at it. Back to brutes. I soloed the game with a brute, every story arc, every mission. (Not the 1st time I tried that, but tyhe first time I hit all content.) When i came back to the game after a couple months break, I had a role-playing character I wanted to recreate in the Cities. The concept just naturally was a Mind/Psi dom, based on the other game. And I can actually play him! For me this is a miracle!
I stated all of this as background for my response. It's all about the tactics. You should use the Dom power button regularly, or you will waste it by never using it. Do not save it back too much, or you will find yourself dying and thinking, danged, I shoulda used Dom. On the other hand, (this is where soloing the stories helped a lot) when a big battle looms, having that dom button ready to go is necessary. I have heard people say leave critters alive in side corridors so you can rebuild dom, but that only works solo. Doms are kind of team oriented, and few redside teams have patience for that crap. So, use dom regularly, soon after it pops. (The inspirations you gain from winning these fights can help while dom is down.) Only hoard Dom when you know you got a ugly fight one minute away. (cause you can recharge dom in 2! -
Thank you for posting this. I am leveling a Mind/Psi dom right now, probably to be my new main. Long-time brute player, now starting to enjoy actually using tactics.
One question, is this build (as written) perma-dom? -
I am a long time brute player, and here I am falling for this dom lol. Only problem is I got little idea what I am doing.
The dom is a mind/psi, now 22.
I want to increase global rech, perhaps even perma, but mostly just have more fun. I have quite a bit of treasure from my brutes to help do this.
The guides for mind/psi are issue 6 + 7, and we all know doms have evolved a lot since then.
Anyone have a build guide, slanted towards rech, that I can glance at?
Thanks. -
When I try to e-mail myself influence I keep getting the mesasage that the global e-mail does not exist. Only it does. Scourge 23. If any of you want to mail me cash as a test lol. No, but seriously, I am just trying to test the thing with 1 infl. No luck, like 4 times.

I was just wondering, since every time I badge in a PvP zone I see a lot, who can really talk the most smack?
-
couple hundred thousand, all you need is a workroom, then each storage device.
-
My main brute has 4 full purple I/O sets, LOTG, Some other juicy stuff crammed on. In truth, the build could be better. Now if I could afford to buy all the best enhancers I need to experiment with 2 other builds, (the alt and a changeup on the primary) buy all the Respec recipes I need to make it happen blindly off the market, and maybe a bill left over as change to play/give in game. That to me would be filthy rich. For one character. I assume we are talking just one avatar and not like the whole account?
-
Very nice suggestions thanks. Time to start serious task forcing so that i can get these items.
-
I am using a broadsword/Regeneration build for an experiment. Hopefully it will be fun.
I want to create a super recharge build for this. I have already slotted a level 25 LOTG +7.5% in it. I really am lost as to where to look for good information about adding global recharge without looking at every single set one at a time. Any help? -
I went with katana/invulnerability. thx for the input

I am mostly a redside brute player, but have experimented a lot with doms, and a little with blasters/scrappers. My first toon was a tank, and I am experimenting with them again. I have a couple at 50. Team cohesion is not the word of the day in CoX. Redside there is always some "8 people soloing a map", but the order still is to let the brute take it in the face first. The fact that brutes get rewards for being the first in helps motivate and so that works. I was running a scrapper yesterday, with the team tank set as waypoint so I could follow the agro sponge. The thing was that the tank was, well, timid. The tank never went in first. I started taking the alphas just to move the team along. Thankfully I was on a regen. Blueside has always been weird to me. Redside plays much more like every video game i have ever used. Blueside is best when everyone coordinates. It is true that good I/Os make bluesiders less "needy" for teamwork, but it still helps. Especially, and I love this, when a lot of people want to run at +4/x8 "for the good experience" Only to take multiple deaths per spawn and forever to kill stuff. It is a strange world in the cities. Wisdom, it just ain't there. Heck, a lot of players cannot seem to see the obvious, and just want to do what they believe is the best. Very frustrating. Still, I will be blueside for awhile, working on scrapper and tank projects. I have found a great group for task forces, and when I cannot take amateur hour anymore I grab some speed TFs with them.

I am trying to push a concept as far as it can go. I want to build a scrapper with the best overall armors. I will be willing to invest a lot (a whole lot) in I/Os to make this happen.
I do not want him for tanking. I am willing to sacrifice damage to create a better armor, if needed.
I am interested if any primaries have synergy with this, like katana's Divine Avalanche or Dark Melee's heal.
The idea is just to build a scrapper with the best possible armor. Period. -
Nope, not worried about damage output, seriously willing to sacrifice that for survivability. Understand that killing everything is best survivor's choice. Still not what i am striving for.
Not trying to hold agro/tank. Couldnt care less about agro control.
Want to create the Scrapper with the best overall armors. Period. In fact I'll start an ew thread that is more to the point. Thanks. -
Ah! Now it makes sense. So the Katana Invulnerabilty is better than the Broadsword Invulnerability because the defense from an attack move! Now, are any Psi attacks melee? Would finally be nice to have a invul anything with Psi protection.
-
You guys are talking about dark armor? Cause I got a dark armor tank, and it is a good tank build, but a lot of work to keep on the feet. Are you saying that given any scrapper secondary to completely I/O out, Dark Armor becomes the best when given the full treatment?
-
Oh, I am not talking about actually tanking with the SCrapper. I am talking about Scranking. I just want the most survivable Scrapper that money can buy, heavy on the I/Os. Cause thats what I enjoy. For tanking, I'll actually bring a tank.
-
I am looking for a great all around Scranker. What is the best secondary to take, with the idea of I/Oing the toon as much as necessary to allow for tanking as much as possible?
And in a related question, is there a certain primary that will have a synergy with this concept? As in sacrificing damage to get certain powers in the primary that help to scrank? I know dark melee has both a heal and a end recharge in it, as well as doing good damage. Is there another primary I should look at? -
Quote:I've got the Karma and Blessing of Zephyr I/Os in Combat jumping, 8 pts of KB prot, but not enough vs certain opponents. I will get the steadfast, thx.Hey, thought I'd chime in.
The four holes of Dark Armor:
1. Lack of KB protection (easily solvable)
2. High endurance costs (easily solvable)
3. Weakness to -Recharge. (easily solvable)
4. Low Energy resistance (not so much of an issue unless fighting heavy hitting mobs like Neuron, Antimatter, Nightstar, PPPs)
Solution:
1. Karma or Steadfast KB protection IO (easy to pick up for between 3-20 mill, almost anyone can make this by level 20-25 tops).
2. Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance in Stamina (or Physical Perfection, or one in BOTH if you prefer), Theft of Essence: Chance for +Endurance in Dark Regeneration, Miracle: +Recovery and Numina +Recovery/Regeneration in Health.
Note: the only ABSOLUTELY necessary one of these is Performance Shifter, it is very easy to get and by far the cheapest (125 merits). The other procs are useful, but not required to maintain decent endurance recovery. If you DO manage to get them, your life will become very easy. Slot for endurance reduction in each attack. If you can afford to frankenslot Dam/Acc/End ios, then do so. It helps immensely.
3. Hasten, Recharge bonuses and Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge.
Hasten I only have for times where I am under heavy fire from -recharge effects (Arachnos, Carnies, Malta, Council). You can pick up about 20-30% global recharge rather cheaply by using Stupefy in OG, Crushing Impact or even Taunt sets (which are incredibly inexpensive and VERY nice).
4. This is the toughest hole to fill for a Dark Armor (in my opinion). I have never had trouble with Clockwork, Rikti, Freakshow, Carnies or Praetorian minions who use EM.
My biggest challenges are AVs (and rarely PPPs). Neuron, Marauder, Synapse and the like will rip you apart, sadly. The only real way to fix this is to focus on +Energy Defense bonuses. I decided, however, that with so few mobs, and very slight chance to meet up with them while solo, that I did not need to do this personally.
I have the miracle and numina and theft of essence, will get the performance shifter.
I will not take hasten. It is useless on this toon except for the problem you mentioned. I will try the I/O you mentioned though.
Lastly, energy protection. You know, every tank has a hole in its armors. So Dark has Energy instead of the common Psi. I am agreeing with you that I probably will not concentrate on this. Instead I will I/O out the build to maximize where it does shine, and let my TFs know that, like any other tank, there are some fights I will need to be buffed or hang back.
Oh, and as far as Dark Armor cannot tank anything. Heh. More like certain players cannot tank anything. :-) -
My SS/Will is a true joy to run. I have farmed a ton of cash for him, and now have 4 purple sets. I think I could afford a 5th purple set, but cannot find a place I am willing to put it lol. I probably do not have the best build for the money, but as I said, a real joy to run. I think of him as a recharge based brute, rather than res or def. The point is to kill/kill/kill. He can tank AVs, although, as usual, team buffs help. But not the strongest at taking damage I ever rolled. But can he ever kill lol.
-
I still prefer Dark armor/Dark melee. I use Dark melee whenever I can justify it for a concept (I only build thematic toons.) Dark Melee has an incredible synergy with Dark Armor. I think of Dark Armor as a heal based tank, rather than a resist or defense based one. That little attack heal sure helps. Also the PbAoE attack that refills the blue is a nice breath of fresh air. Also, according to the scrapper boards Dark melee has incredible damage dealing potential, both at low recharge and high recharge.
But this is a post about Dark Armor. My Dark/Dark tank is now at 33. I have shelved it for a few days as I alt onto some scrappers, but am happy with the build. I have two -KB I/Os in it, but I need one more. The last AV I fought (KHTF) was knocking me once in awhile. Other than that all SOs, and feeling strong. Although, like a regen scrapper, watching the timing of the heal is real important.
