I cant tell 100% what you got in there and stuff it would be nice to get a data chunk for mids or some kind of link.
Anyway you are over slotting for Def on WP you want to slot for +hp (i find the +1.88% the best one to get nice numbers and not way too pricey) and +regen. I cant tell if you have one or not but a regen tissue +regen is way nice you have.
Fast healing needs some kind of Numi not a Doc,
Also slot more rech in rage (I think, I cant tell your #'s) if you get perma not only do you get some overlap you also dont get the -def.

I see various traces of franken-slotting. It seems like you just slot as you level. For survival, you can go for HP, regeneration and defense bonus. Many people like +recharge for more damage, and I think you want +recharge as well from your build. Maybe you have to make a decision yourself on how you want to balance between the various bonuses, clean up the franken-slotting, and then post your revised build here.

I am slowly trying to get to grips with the whole IO set bonus thing - I was trying to get as much regen in there as possible hence the 3 lots of 2 Numina and 3 lots of 2 LotG.
I could get rid of resurgence if there is another power that would help me better somehwere else - other than that I figured all other powers were pretty much useful on a regular basis?

I made a build based on yours. I try to put in more +HP and +regen (you regenerate faster with higher HP). I squeeze in some smashing/lethal defense. Darkest night from soul mastery can stack with your defense to boost your survival. Since your original build has some +recharge, I try to keep it as well. Hopefully, this can give you a start.

Man, this thread makes me want GR to come out soo bad.
Looking at that last build, there are a number of things you could do a bit differently that would help you out quite a bit.
Generally I only 3-slot LoTG's in my defense powers. You're not getting that much benefit for the bang of that fourth slot in endurance or defense. Plus the first three set IO buffs are the good ones. You could take the fourth slot from those and throw another slot into your primary attacks. A proc or more accuracy/damage/recharge would just make those attacks that much stronger.
If your going to 4-slot endurance and QR, go ahead and do it with all p-shifters. That will gain you an easy 5% more recovery just from those two slots without hurting your endurance that bad.
I generally don't do much past single slotting Indomitable Will. One endurance reducer or a LoTG +recharge if you can swing it and thats all you need.
And last thing, I prioritize defense a bit differently than the above posters. More defense added with your ungodly regen and solid S/L resistance will make you an unstoppable killing machine. Shoot for at least the mid 30's in S/L and E/N and you will notice a big difference in how often your hit, and you'll also be one small purple insp away from be capped when you need it in tougher battles. Look into replacing those crushing impacts with smashing haymakers (cheap but effective) or Kinetic Combats (will cost you an arm and leg and your firstborn).
My SS/Will is a true joy to run. I have farmed a ton of cash for him, and now have 4 purple sets. I think I could afford a 5th purple set, but cannot find a place I am willing to put it lol. I probably do not have the best build for the money, but as I said, a real joy to run. I think of him as a recharge based brute, rather than res or def. The point is to kill/kill/kill. He can tank AVs, although, as usual, team buffs help. But not the strongest at taking damage I ever rolled. But can he ever kill lol.

Slightly aside from this when the time comes to rebuild (respec) do I need to respec a couple of times to avoid losing crafted enhancements or is there any way of doing a full respec and having all spare IOs left at the end to sell?

Thanks again ultrawatt, you and twilight have given me a lot to think about. I will play with mids tomorrow and see if I can come up with somyhing that rings in the best of both! I never thought of using lower level enhancements so there is more flexibility there than I first thought!
Any idea on the best way to respec without losing a fortune on the enhancments I don't need as you inlet get to keep 10 - I have a couple of respcs available so would it be best to do it over multiple respecs?

As far as I know you can only have keep 10 enhancements that you could then sell. If you got several vetspecs or something and really need to cash I guess you might want to respec a few times.

I recommend you put the FF +rech proc in foot stomp, I can’t remember if it’s on my mids build or not as I keep it off most of the time to see more accurate rech numbers. Anyway I have in there rather then a sirocco dam/end which I used to have. The FF +rech proc is pure awesome, in a full mob it goes off about 70% of the uses. So im running at a +200% rech buff about half of the time.

For some random reason the prices dipped so after xferring inf from every other alt I have I have completed the build (including FF +rech proc) - cost about 2bil in total partially cos there is some expensive stuff in there and probably mostly because I am too damn impatient and dont want to bid now and wait to get stuff so pay more than I could do - but at least others get to benefit from my impatience
All I need now is time to actually have a play and see what happens...

Having actually run a mission with the new build I have to admit the regen is pretty awesome. He ran through like a steamroller with bosses barely denting his health for more than a few seconds. Definitely wise advice from all concerned and an impressive new build at the end of it.

Hi Guys
I have a lvl 50 SS/WP brute I am enjoying immensley at the moment. However I feel I am lacking in knowledge when it comes to slotting etc to get the best from him and squeeze out every last drop of power and defence that I can get without running to the considerable expense of Purple and PVP IO's. Below is my build and if anyone can offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated!
I know there are some powers where I currently have SO's slotted where they can be changed to IO's (work in progress) but otherwise any advice would be great!
