I should try an AV or two on my main, I dont think he's built for it though. SS/Invul Brute w/ all the trimmings. But seriously, not sure if I could do any 1 of them, much less all the TFs.
-
Yeah Lobster, you cannot get both contacts (or all 3) that give the same stuff. But figuring out which ones give which is spaghetti to me right now. Plus, based on a suggestion above, i am going to get a guy set up and start getting the Inventor vadges for him. that way when I start the run he has that going for him. And thats definitely better done over a couple weeks rather than "Buy it Nao" prices on salvage. So, with Prep i will be better.
-
I am putting off the project. i realize I need to do a few weeks research and prep work before I can do this easily. Blueside content, especially at low levels, is very complicated. Multiple contacts for the same missions, etc. i will be preparing a character to do this, and getting my research ready.
Plus....TW. As much as I hate redraw I am loving this stuff. lol. -
You havent watched enough dog shows. Get moving! Everybody runs so the dog looks better. get out there and move and the dog will look right!
-
Wow, you mean it changes after 20, lol? I tried starting blueside content at least 3 times and got so discouraged trying to sort thru if I had hit every contact. Redside is so much better written it is insane.
Hrm, werent there more than one contact giving the same mission in the 10-15 as well? I am almost 100% that is true. It is just very confusing Blueside. You get this arc from Toni, no Marsha, wait Fred. Wait, who sent you? Okay well Fred will give you Marge, Marsha will give you George, and Toni will give you Juan, but dont worry they are all the same. -
I hate redraw. Hate. Did I mention hate? i have no doubt i will make a TW character, already bought the set, have 2 concepts in mind. But I will want to pair it with something non clicky, like Willpower.

But some are definitely King's Row. I ask because they are not listed in the current level 5-9 content on Paragon Wiki.
-
Did a lot of the old content get shelved, and is only available thru Ouro?
for instance, this convoluted list of charactters. i think there are actually 6 arcs buried/shared amongst these contacts. Are they still available?

Quote:I'll follow this pretty closely. Was not going to do the crafting badge, but this sounds smart. I'll start that today or tomorrow, and have it finished in a few days. there goes 250-350 mil lol. (I'll store the I/os for use as I level, sell the ones I do not want on an alt so as not yo clog a main)I have done this with my ill\rad troller blue side and a EM\Electric brute redside. Please forgive me if I repeat what others have already said. Here's what I did and what I would suggest:
1. Have a finished 50 check the mission levels at Oroboros
2. Level your toon to one level below that. This gives you much more power to deal with mobs that get stronger as you move along this path.
3. Turn off exp until all of your contacts are completed.
4. Get the temp powers from Wentworths. (quality of life when you play like this is important)
5. Be careful what your difficulty settings are. I was set at +0/x1 with AV with bosses (the brute was much different)
6. Become a serious loner
7. Do the bank missions and side content too, play other toons when you get frustrated, your adopting a lifestyle not playing a game when you approach it this way
8. The repeatable contacts are something to be careful of but you will usually see the same missions come along before too long. The thing to be careful of is that I think (not sure) there are some that show up in the 30s and then more and more as you get higher level.
9. I assume you are doing this for badges, there are multiple lists around that can show you where these badges are so you don't miss them by accident. Do alot of reading.
10. If you have the /auctionhouse, /vault commands go ahead and get the crafting accolade as soon as possible. Your going to generate a lot of salvage and recipes, this will let you craft them on the fly instead of having to waste time clearing out inventory.
11. Enjoy!
I will have nbosses on, but AVs off. -
Yeah, I mean all the side missions as well. I love a big project. I realize this one will be pretty huge lol. that's why I am not sweating "It's not a challenge because you're not doing it at +2/x4" cause it's gonna be a serious enough commitment as it is. There are some contacts who you cannot run out, one in the hollows. I'll have to research a little careful on those.
Last night I did Matthew Habashy, Sondra Costel, and Aaron Thiery's story arcs. I leveled to 5, yeah lol. I will start working the 5-9 arcs tonight. Probably will not get very far, busy night. I want to knock out the Safeguard.
But tonight I'll be duoing with my wife (she is new to the city!) and doing her content, accompanying her on another of my alts. Trying to find a play style she enjoys. She is having fun, and that is really cool. -
Oh, good and gentle townsfolk of Locker C-18... no wait. Hey folks. I have decided to take a Brute and solo all of Blueside content. I picked a Dark Melee/Invulnerability Brute. I will be running at +0/x1 and with vet powers and such do not think it will be difficult. Time consuming, but not difficult. I have done this multiple times Redside with a Brute. I have tried this a few times Blueside with Scrappers (a Blaster one time!) and never got far. I think with my favorite arch-type I will be able to do this.
Tonight I started out. I got the character made up, a bull headed thing with hooves ( Baalzataur on Virtue ) and started out. The very first thing I did was throw a couple dozen low level magic SOs in the base for him to use up through that magic level 22. The second thing I did was run the Death from Below trial 4 times, earning him all four temp powers, nabbing a couple more SOs, and the 3 badges. I shut off experience once he leveled to 4, in keeping with the long term plan.
Taking a break to do a little workout and grab a snack. I will be doing all content available at level 4. (There doesnt seem to be a guide anyewhere for this...) Once I am 100% sure I have done all level four I am off to King's Row.
My plan is to post here about every 5 levels or so. I both want to give a quick synopsis of what I am doing, as well as any problems I encounter. Hopefully they will be few. I will be cramming I/Os on the build as he levels up to them. Probably go for a softcap build, or at least a high Defense build. This particular combo really loves high recharge, since it brings up the Dark Consumption, Soul Drain, and Dull Pain that much faster. Those three big game changers are a joy when they flow regular. So for my end game build I will be looking at balancing a recharge heavy build with a defense heavy build.
I will be teaming for Task Forces, but other than that will be solo. I plan to shut off experience earning quite frequently until the late 20s. Hopefully by then the content will sync up with the exp required and I wont need to do that anymore. thats how it usually goes Redside, but Blueside is older, and I am unsure if it has more content. Also, First Ward changes the 20-30 paradigm.
Cyas in the cities. -
Thanks all. My wife helped me with the decision and we sort of went a different direction. i will do that MA / Regen one day though lol.
-
Oh, good and gentle townsfolk of Locker C-18... no wait. Hey folks. Decided that i wanted a project. I am gonna solo the game, every arc, every story blueside. I have done this multiple times redside, but have stalled out everytime I have tried it Blue. Various reasons, trying it with a Blaster didn't help lol. Also, the storylines are more convoluted, since multiple contacts give the same arc, it got very confusing as to whether I had in fact, done each available arc in every 5 level block. But, I shall try again.
This time I have decided on a Martial Arts scrapper. I am sure there are better choices, I know there are worse ones lol. But I have decided. I am here to ask you good folks what secondary I should use. Most of the parameters are set, Solo the entire game, every arc, every misssion, Blueside. I will of course be doing the TFs as I level, with a team. I will be keeping the setting pretty easy, I think +0/x1 is the only appropriate setting for my first run thru. I will be throwing Procs and Globals on as he levels up to them, and will be investing quite a bit into the build, popping it on as I go. Oh, and certain secondaries I may decide against for concept reason even if they are in fact better for game mechanics. So, again, given these conditions what secondary is best? Thank you in advance.
edit* I suppose I could be talked into Street Justice (I have already bought it) if it is a huge difference. But in fact stylistically I would prefer MA. -
Does Dark's "Abyssal Gaze" hold stack with Ice's "Freezing Touch"? And if so, up to what can it hold. And can it be enhanced? (I/Os, etc., even chance to hold Proc in other powers....)

Nice Milady's Knight, thx. I have been experimenting with more Blasters over the last couple days. A dark/Mental I parked in the low 40s, a new Dark/Ice I started, a Dark/Dark I started. For all the reasons that have been discusssed above I am going with Dark/Ice as my main. Mental lost out because even though it has a nice cone I have to close to get more goodness out of the set. Ice has goodness I can use at range, allatime. The ranged 1st attack on ice is only 50 ft (compared to Dark's 80) but Dark has a build up only a Blapper could love. Ice Patch and Shiver are wonderful tools, and they can be employed constantly. Thanks for all the help.

I had one of these as a Brute over a year ago. Very strong, was considering one again. Would this be better as a Scrapper, or should I go Brute again?

Thats why I'm making my character as huge as possible, then getting that cloud pet. that way i can finally block the danged demon MMs vision for once instead of them blocking mine!

That play experience says good things about Miladys Knight 's analyzation of a Dark/Ice Blaster. I will work on leveling one at least to around 30 this weekend.

Quote:I have issues. I have always hated corruptors, and wanted a Blaster redside (I only played redside for 3+ years) I have only come Blueside for 2 main reasons. I migrated from Freedom to Virtue, ans in my experience redside virtue is much less played than redside freedom. this may part of the whole change in the game however, ot just related to any one server. Also, villains are now crawling over blueside. I would rather have the (sliht) damage boost from being a Blaster than all corruptors powers. and I hate buffing/healing others. its selfish, and I know it, and i hate it. And I fail more miserably at it than I do at being a blaster. So, i tank on my Brute mostly. I'll eat agro for an entire team before I buff anyone. Or, with my Blaster project, throw out pain to cover any 2 other members rather than try to buff/heal.If you're only looking to play as team support, you should make a corruptor or defender. You'll likely offer much more in terms of support and DPS that way. I recommend a fire/cold corruptor. With a high end build you could triple stack sleet's effects. Perma benumb/heat loss is absolutely sexy. And you'll still be a beast at single target and AoE damage (double scourge for sleet and rain of fire iirc).

Okay. I feel like Belushi in Animal House after his rousing speech where he ran out the house...with no one following.

Quote:You've made a very good point. I am going to make one up, right now Fire/Mental is on the front burner, but I have failed ith it before. Not sure a team only solution is going to answer all my problems. Definitely gonna start a dark/ice concept. The combination you want is Dark/Ice. It has decent AoE damage, can be utilized entirely at range with out gimping yourself, and has the best usable mitigation of all blaster combinations in the game without sacrificing much, if any, kill speed.
Please try it before you frustrate yourself again with all of the other high damage, low survivability options.
heres an idea I have penciled in. It avoids stuff I'm going to try not to use (melee, etc.0 and grabs powers I think I will want for teaming/soloing (Stealth/TP/Phase Shift...yes, i need/want that lol)
If I 50 him, and if I can survive some Inc Trials, i will look at further boosting his abilities.
Everything is I/O'd with basics. in fact these will be SOs. I am not gonna throw cash at the build until I decide if I can run it. It is also set up to take some of the obvious Procs if I decide to throw a crap ton of money onto it.

Quote:Yeah, thanks to my wife for ideas lol. I am making a character based on a very convoluted bloodline that has been part of her meta plot for many years. Both fire and psi are natural for the concept. I will probably take fire epic, or I may snag soul mastery, havent looked at it in detail yet. Also, 95% sure going for Fire judgement, but agian, need to look. The whole idea is to cram more AoE on the guy. I want teams to beg to rez me when I fall lol. "Get the damage pet back up!"Fire/Mental is probably the best ranged AoE combo that doesn't use a crashless nuke. You do need to jump in to melee range to use Drain Psyche but there's nothing that says you have to stay there... it's perfectly fine to skip PSW and focus on cone and fireball spam or else save PSW for times you know it's safe to use rather than trying to use it every spawn. And since you're going to go the ranged route I'd suggest building for Ranged defense and going with either the Electrical or Flame epic. Electrical gives you another cone, a hold, and a nice resist shield plus the option to take Surge of Power for a weak version of the Overload power from Electric Armor. Fire gives you a hold, a nice resist shield, and Rise of the Phoenix... dying isn't near as annoying when you can self rez and blow the hell out of any nearby enemies at the same time.
I suggest a resist shield because if you softcap to ranged you'll already be hit as seldom as possible, so why not get hit for less when they do get lucky?
As far as concept goes, remember that both Fire and /Mental can be colored to suggest radiation-based attacks. I'd suggest coloring both bright green and making a walking reactor / energy being type of character. Well, or just do a Phoenix clone, but I'm hoping you're more original than that. -
Quote:Yeah Bop. the Bank missions solo are brutal for me.What build/level was it that you struggled at +0/x1? This can't be the ice/NRG that you leveled to atleast 33 and claimed how much you were loving it, is it?
I still think you should've tried dark/NRG. But I think your problem might be that you're impatient on its performance. You won't have survivability until you IO out for defense. And you won't have gnarly kill speed until you IO out for recharge.
I am moving on to a Fire/Mental. The idea being never to solo, and just figure a way to help teams with fire support and stay alive.
