  1. The jury seems to be weighing heavily in that I need moah powah, and I'll take that advice. Blowing up a rig, even an old one, seems a little silly. My other question is whether the card will physically fit in the box. I'm leaning towards having a friend do the work or heading down to a local comp shop I trust. If i can milk two or three more years out of the old beast with a free card a $50.00 powers source and less than a $100.00 in other fees I am gonna call it a big win. Especially if it can run the card, which evidently was pretty sweet in it's day.

I'm looking at the link thx. So, buying this power supply will fix the PSU problem and the specific power to the PCI problem? or the 22 amp on the 12v rail. sorry, really lost here. my few weeks electronic training was a very very long time ago. and last, do you know for sure this card will fit into this box or do i need to crack the case and eyeball it?

After my rant I been trying to let other peeps speak as much as possible. Here I am failing as usual at that lol. But I wanted to be clear. I like the complicated variations in things like Keyes (which I have not really run many times or learned), the MoM (straightforward yet challenging) and Lambda (a real test of teamwork in the sabotage phase, although in truth I can solo that on a tough toon for acids at least). But the TPN has 2 major problems. It is boringly repetitive right from the 1st run. About the 15th time I went back into one of the building I was like "Really? This is what we get?" The whole thing is just mind numbingly bad. The technical problems are really frosting on an crap-cake.
  4. Thx Forbin. It helps a little. I am really just trying to figure out if the thing will go in my comp. I am not expecting performance, just stability. It's the backup comp. With a 6-7 year old Dell mid-range tower only so many things are possible.

Does that mean a no go? Also, i have spent a half hour searching to see if the PCI is the same type and will fit and I am no closer to an answer...

And lastly, you are saying 400w PSU but the site I have says 105W max

    TPN massive fail

That is a good suggestion Dumbleberry. Unfortunately due to my style of play (character development) I tend to be short on cash despite huge amounts of playing. Playing on Beta would only exacerbate this problem, by eating up weeks/months a year playtesting. And you get nothing back. Take a look at Arcana. I mean, wow, completely reworked the way top players look at the entire game. Nothing. There are not even nominal rewards for doing this huge amount of work. *off soapbox.

    Power

    DC power supply:Wattage.230 W

    Heat dissipation
    785 BTU/hr
NOTE: Heat dissipation is calculated based upon the power supply wattage rating.

Voltage (see the safety instructions located in the Product Information Guide for important voltage setting information)
    90 to 135 V and 180 to 265 V at 50/60 Hz

My problem is I do not know how much it is using without the card. The card uses 175w max
  9. We recently got a new comp (yeah) that is decent, but will not run CoH in Ultra. Got big tax money plans for that in a month or two. But that (for the 1st time) gave us 2 boxes and my wife joined the community, playing Premium and teaming with me. Our old tower is.... yeah.

Here is the situation and the question. A friend gave us a E-V3A E-GeForce 8800 GT and I was wondering if that would go into our old tower. It is a Dell Dimension DV051 ACPI MultiProcessor (Intel Pent4 3.06ghz) w 2gig ram (Win XP 2002) My main questions are 1) does this tower have enough power to run this graphics car 2) Does anyone know if it will physically fit in an old Dell Dimension 3) will the drivers install 4) is this a decent card for running CoH ps, it could hardly be any worse running the City than what it is now lol.

Any help is appreciated. My wife gets the new machine when we duo and it would be nice to not be fighting the old machine so much as I try to help her enjoy our wonderful game.

I'm 95% sure this is my Dell Specs
    http://support.dell.com/support/edoc....htm#wp1052310

It looks like I need a PCI slot, and it has one. Both the board and hte card are from the right Era (both are ancient by todays standards) so I'm giving myself a 50/50 that it will fit in physically. The next big question s power supply. The GeForce 8800 GT is actually a power miser by GeForce standards it seems, but I am still unsure if I can drive it with this box. I am 99% sure I can get drivers if it will physically work. Seriously, any help would be great.
  10. I run the ITF on every character I like. It is hands down the easiest TF to form for the greatest rewards (Exp) in that level range. So I would never spend Paragon Points on this. YMMV.

As far as waiting to 35 for a costume? I just waited until 50 to finish 1/3 of my costume on my new main. It is a combination of Incarnate and Ascension stuff with a few tweaks thrown in.
  11. I use the stealth proc a lot. I actually accidentally bought 3 the other day when I needed 1. Will use the other two, but it was an unexpected buy lol. They work pretty straightforward. They will have that weird stacking when zoning, like all procs. But it really is a very straightforward limited stealth power generally good for carefully semi-stealthing missions or traveling through dangerous areas.

    TPN massive fail

So.... I have done TPN 2 times so far. Well, really once. The second time I was booted spectacularly. First, I would just like to say, it seems to be written by someone with absolutely zero creativity. How this horrid piece of drech was chosen to be glorified as an incarnate trial is beyond me. I guess it should give hope to all poor writers everywhere. Yes, if you have your characters kill the bad guy, run here, run there, run over there, kill the bad guy again, then repeat a few dozen times it could be picked to be the major part of a game! I know there are counters and goals involved. But step back and look at the big picture. The bulk of the work is just drech. Compare this to the MoM. Wow, beautiful. The MoM is like what Salvador Dali would have wrote if he was interested in video game missions. But enough critique, let's get to the issue. The trial was apparently programmed extremely poorly and not debugged. The thing kicks people regular and then you cannot log back in with the same character. Then when you do log in and try to join the trial you get to be in random person X's mission. So, the TPN. Epic fail from conception to delivery. Outstanding.

I even made a GM laugh when i told him my Combat Attributes window gave me the following info on KB Protection: 3+3+4=3.5.
For me, .06% is trivial, for others it is not, but 6.5 points off isn't trivial at all for anyone ... i hope.
Wow, that is hurtin'. Hope it doesnt really act that way in fights, and i hope you get it sorted.

What really bothered me about the .06% was the fact I had worked on the build in MIDs for hours, rebuilding 3 different times with what passes (for me) as deep thought. Then to have it just not quite be there in game because MIDs rounds was (Insert Hutt cursing here)... To be able to fix it with the new system the Devs are semi-randomly e-mailing me some of is very nice. As far as the actual combat effect, you are probably right. It probably means bird squat. I glazed over about 4 pages into the manifesto on softcap the last time I tried to read it. I appreciate the info, but again, at a certain point for me its just costume, art, badges, numbers, perfection. Besides, even the Devs are surprised by things sometimes. Like Arcanatime for instance. You never know, that .06% may be the secret.........

This. Wrong. On so many levels. And with the bonus of showing a fundamental misunderstanding of what people with cash on hand will do to circumvent the whole argument anyways. Just so wrong.

Lets start with some softballs. I'm just gonna lob them over and you dont even have to connect, just see if you understand the whole thing.
If you are using I/Os you are probably either A) an experienced CoH player. B) an experienced MMORPG player playing many games
If you are using I/O sets to build top notch characters you are either C) a very experiened CoH player D) a moderately experienced CoH player who is smart enough to get good help E) A very experienced gamer who picks up new systems fast F) a freaking genius

Now, if you are A, C, or D you have enough funds on hand to kit out at least one character fully just from what you have accumulated. If you are B or E you are probably gonna find a quick way to come up with the necessary in-game resources to kit out a character. I got nothing on F, they exist, and they do things different than me. I am sure the Fs will figure something out and be able to have a character I/O'd how they want pretty quick.

So, your basic premise is gone. But I aint done. What you are really saying is "You can only have one or two characters fully I/o'd perfectly. If you want to have a top notch character thats all you get. If its your main and you do not want to shatter it for the shineys suck it up and play a SO build.

And lets play hardball now. Cause you obviously have not been playing the game I have. Have you ever noticed, say, somebody offering to sell in game currency by the billions? What do you think, they been spamming that crap in game forever and have made no money? Lets just pretend some people who play our game have used their services. I know it unthinkable, but I suspect based on the fact they will not stop spamming that they have had some small success. What do you think players do with the billions they buy? That's right. They buy I/Os. Wow, youre coming right along. Okay here's where we start to run now. The Devs could be getting all the money that is going to chinese prison guards (a lot of the farmers are actually prisoners, read a little once in awhile) and the players who want to throw buckets of money at the game could actually be giving it to NCSoft.

Jeez, people irritate me when they have no clue about economics and logic.
  18. Besides weapon redraw. *massive facepalm. How about any animation that you stand there for 1, 2, sometimes 3 seconds. ....and moderate damage. Seriously? Its like watching a movie and there's the scene where a guy that can't pee when someone is around. Elec Melee has this horrid cone and you stand there with your arms out for like an hour and a half. and then poink. nuthin. A lot of sets have these ridiculous problems.
  19. I cannot think why they would not put all this stuff on as attuned. (Other than their market interface is pretty low grade). I am a VIP, and have no problem spending 15/month on sub. I would not pay much more for anything though. Pre-Free I bought packs randomly. But I only put money on the table for TW, Stj, etc. But these tuned enhancers? I have one character (my new main) kitted out well with these, and it was bank. If they put Purples as tuned option on the Paragon Market...? Do these people have something against making cash lol......

Well, you're of to a great start, seriously. My critism had no sugar coating on it and you came back still enthusiastic. thats the only way to get something done on a project this big.

Keep in mind if you have it perfectly written up it still is gonna be a very very very hard sell to the Devs. If they like it it might show up in 3-6 years.

I did not understand much about what you wrote, and thats your first problem. How is your idea functionally different than what I said except without player choice but driven by a bar? Also, you have your def sets (amrors?) kick in when the beast form fades? or at least thats the way it reads. Really? That means you never get access to primary and secondary at the same time? How does that make a runnable character?

  22. To me it seems horrid from the get go.

1st) This already exists. Make 2 costume sets. 1 human, 1 huge/robot/etc. for 1st, turn off all powers. for second turn on all toggles.

2nd) the outline for the battleset above is little more than a line drawing referring to how the entire thing is driven by a bar. Ya kinda need to offer up a full sketch (or an oil painting) before you ask for feedback.
  23. So, back in November I think I bought a couple sets of tuned Kinetic Combats and a couple sets of tuned LOTG from the Paragon Market. For my new project I started a week or so ago I wanted a couple more sets. But they were gone. After some research I discovered the Nov. thing was a term "special". I 50'd my project this weekend, and took one last look at the Paragon Market. And they were back. I am not complaining about that (I got my tuned sets yeah! Except I should really stop spending stacks of cash on the game heh. I have 51 tuned enhancers on this one character! - I plan on Exemplaring him a lot.) But is there any rhyme or reason to anything going on with the Paragon Market?
