Nope. I never come up with good name ideas, so I am blessedly saved from this. However, I stole Flamezy from someone I saw running around with it in Fort Darwin years ago, and use stuff like that. Got anything that cheesy you want to let me run for a few years?

Ach, the "Team Inspirations!!!" That you get a crap ton of in the card lottery packs. Those work for the pets right? Enough of those and any MM could solo a GM!!!

Thank you all for the good responses. I avoid marketeering in game, so I am grateful to you for the info.
It seems the bottleneck is the converters, which I did not account for at all. Makes sense. If they are limitless the effect I assumed would happen may (or may not) have occurred. Depending on converter supply it just might be easier to make a few more Glad+3% available, or take the top off the really spendy Purps and thats about it, and that may be the only effect. Very interesting. Again, thank you. -

Purple Inspirations. Monitor your defenses. Get them at 45%, keep them there.

My thoughts are on stabilization that it will be harder for marketeers to farm "niches" since they will need to control a much greater inventory of the entire class of I/O in order to maintain their corner of the market. Basically, this will take the "corners" out of the market. With everything rounding to an approximate level of worth.

I believe the upcoming Enhancement Converters will cause a flattening and stabilization of prices across all I/Os of each class. Is this the general consensus of the rest of the community?

Thank you Dr. Aeon for asking. I tend to speak my mind on the boards, for good or ill. So here goes. You have nailed difficulty scaling in City of Heroes/Villains. There are a couple exceptions. Praetoria mobs are a little rough, and not sure why that was specifically marketed to new players in the game. Also, soloing tip missions on my Blasters, and getting A-merits on them is just too much work. That is more a failing at me at Blasting, and Blasters problems as a whole (read Archtypes and Powers thread Blasters in Modern CoH with entries by Arcanaville) then it is a problem with mission difficulty scaling. But by and large the difficulty of the the missions for soloing and teaming is very very well handled.
I think you should pursue something entirely different, literally. Maybe set up a completely alternate difficulty slider for missions. Where you can have greater freedom to customize the mob makeup you will face. Like changing the percentage of what you face. Want more Bosses, click. Want more Elite Bosses, click. Want more AVs, click. It would certainly have me out on my 50s more often when a friend says "Hey, running the ITF with everything set to Bosses and EBs and double AVs"
Edit: This system is definitely in addition to the current very good system. In fact, you should default to regular style play unless specifically set up parameters for a mission. And of course, if you choose the harder runs, you get nothing "extra" from a TF, other than more Experience for non-50s from the extra bosses, and better treasure that bosses might drop. -
Heyas Ricohdah. Yeah, i saw your post saying as much in another thread. I am quite astounded by the possibilities if you are correct. I would gladly throw this in full auto, for obvious reasons if that is the case. Somehow it does not seem right, although your other post is very clearly written. I cannot reconcile how they made sure the proc would not fire everytime in a AoE power (as they obviously attempted to do and stated their intent), then it fires every time in these two powers.
Does anybody have insight on why the ATO might be proc'ing on every target in these two attacks 100% time? -
I went from 49 to 50+3 with one ITF and a day and a half in trials, including tier 4 on alpha and judgement. (granted I had some "threads" in e-mail, as I always do.) Compare that rate to DA soloing. Hilarious.

I really like one Ascension aura I have seen in game. It perfectly matches the countour of the Ascension shoulders, but I cannot find it at the Emp vendor. Anybody know where to get this/unlock it?

1st of all I am a concept freak. I can think of exactly one character (Paddy O'Foole, my 32nd Will/Mace (Shillaleagh)) character that I run exactly one day a year for about a half hour, that it would even work on. So, 800PP for 1/2 hour a year? Kinda spendy. Seriously, exactly what sort of superhero or villain has a leprechaun following him around? Super Irish Man?

Where should I six slot the ATO on AR? The only guaranteed proc would be in Beanbag, which is a very good place to 6 slot Stupefy for double build goals of Rech and Ranged Def. Any ideas?

Epic typing fail, I meant Stalker. sorry.
-
If I do not go Devices I will be using the full stealth pool (stealth/invisibility/phase shift) My goal is to stay at range, so I think Energy offers more for that. Caltrops is nice, but it cannot outweigh Build Up, Conserve Power, and Boost Range.
-
I think I already know the answer, but I thought I should research it. I am starting a new AR Blaster, and was wondering which I should chose as a secondary. Devices or Energy. Devices fit better thematically, Energy has a lot going for it. Any thoughts?

Blasters have a harsh learning curve. When I say harsh, I mean "evil, vicious, malignant, nasty, bend-over-grab-your-ankles"
I posted a thread here last year "I failed at Blasters" This after 4 years in the city (mostly running SS Brutes...) Since then I am doing better. I think I could reasonably post a thread now "I do not completely suck with Blasters" So, I am the authority which you seek, obviously. Blasters can be a ton of fun. The trick is to stay alive AND be able to keep up steady damage per second that justifies running the crazy archetype. I got no advice that's good there. Good luck. -
I want to thank everyone for the posts here. This has helped me understand my new 50+3 Elec/Elec Blaster a lot better. It has (amazingly!) changed my opinion on Blasters by allowing me to get past the "Blasters are Ranged" hump I was stuck on. With a special thanks to Aracanaville and her meticulous documentation of the history and evolution of the game. I now understand that based on the original design (not the 6th grade reading level inaccurate description) I am indeed purposely trying to build something slightly odd when I go ranged, and therefore should expect to encounter difficulty.
I will be shelving the Elec^3 mostly as I level 2 other Blasters to see if I like them better for Ranged. My first is a Rad/Nrg with a planned Soul epic. Concept is undead raised by nuclear waste (classic night of the living dead) called "Corpse Blaster" As cheesy as that is would you believe concept is king in all my hundreds of alts? If I cannot justify the character/art/story I cannot make it. Thats why the gun/bow blaster are pretty much off limits for me. Although I am working on a deity or angel with a bow concept....
ps, took like 5 seconds after I posted this. i have my Gun Blaster concept. Anyone watch "The Frighteners?" Sergeant Hiles character (R. Lee Ermey) allows me to explain the vanishing + reappearing gun. I am so happy I want to take the rest of the day off and get into the city lol. But, ....*looks at inbox ...that ain't happening heh. So, now to cogitate on AR/Nrg or AR/Devices. -
pick your poison (S/L or Ranged) and yeah, this is it for me. The buff up powers in the Blaster sets need more recharge to bring up regular, and when those are regularly available they are gonna far outweigh just about anything else you can do to a Blaster build besides making it more survivable....so defense. I also cram in the "full Stealth set" onto any Blaster; Stealth/Invisibility/Phase Shift. This allows mules for LOTG, extra Defense, stealth capabilities, and an "oh crap" button. But that is a preference, and I am sure someone has figured a way to be even more efficient and achieve the same goals.

Quote:I have heard the mechanics for the Blaster proc behaves so similarly to the Scrapper ATO proc that it must be the same. Unfortunately I have no idea what that statement meant since I have not Stalked for years since I got a Dark/Dark to mid 30s and realized a secondary toggle would not let me stealth. Epic fail, and I never ran one after that.So far, we know very little of the math for AoEs. Radius, target cap, and (for cones) arc are all factors, but we don't know exactly how; some players are collecting data on this currently to try to figure it out. However, Full Auto's recharge is long enough that the blaster proc should have a very high, probably guaranteed, proc rate in that power, even despite its AoE-ness.
I have heard descriptions that refer to the Blaster ATO Proc firing much less the larger the target cap is in the power, to the point where it will fire at a guaranteed less rate than a standard 20% damage proc in the big AoE powers.
But the Devs will not say, the written descriptions on most powers/archetypes would receive a D or F on any Junior High writing assignment class. "Radiation Blast powers can bypass normal defenses, and lower your target's overall defense." is my new favorite. I keep opening up the powers and looking for that effect, and watching the combat logs. And laughing. Who writes this dreck? -
Well said, and as usual fact based Arcanaville. I have a couple questions. Do the people who put "Ranged" on the character design screen have access to any small amount of the information that you know? Are they planning on changing the "Ranged" description in the character design screen so that new players do not buy a "pig in a poke?"
-
I will be taking at least a few characters that are stalled and either 50-ing them, getting them close, or deleting them. Seriously, it's a now or never weekend for some of the roster.
-
I fully agree. I noticed an error on the character design screen that has been there for years. They have Blasters listed as "Ranged" but I am pretty sure they do not know what the word means since the sets have important PBAoEs and Melee attacks all through them. So, I wonder what they think "Ranged" means...
