AR/Dev or AR/Nrg
It depends on what you want? Nrg is a good pairing for AR for many reasons (boost range, build up, ) while Devices relies more on trip mines and cloaking device.
If I do not go Devices I will be using the full stealth pool (stealth/invisibility/phase shift) My goal is to stay at range, so I think Energy offers more for that. Caltrops is nice, but it cannot outweigh Build Up, Conserve Power, and Boost Range.
If your into Device I would suggest to go Traps instead. That is all I am going to say as anything else will suck me into a Device debate.
If you want to go Device I would suggest going Range cap hover blaster style and forgo Trip mines as the build will not allow it to be picked up. You will need Cardiac incarnate for endurance issues but personally having one it is pretty dam great. There is a thread by nethergoat labeled retrofitting AR Device or something along those lines. I have it bookmarked on my home machine. Or you could do a search for Nethergoat in these forums. It might be one of the last few post he made here so it should pop up. If you can afford the 2 billion gladiator IO then I would go his build as it opens up a few more slots.
Otherwise I would suggest Nrg for the benefits you know it will give you.

Yep I have more 50 Blasters than anything else and with all the natural concepts like Ice/Ice. I should live in Blaster section really.
But what can I recommend? Well it looks like I would recommend NRG Melee. It goes nice so many concepts, nice with concealment pool and leadership pool.
My AR/Dev/Mun is my complete and total utter Gadget concept. I am greedy about concepts. She is a sweet toon and I am on top of anyone trying to change what she can do, pretty much cos I like how she is and playing a Blaster differently to all my others. She is my Forum namesake an all.
I think you are already decided on NRG Melee, so go for that. Devices is something I recommend a soloer or someone with an interest in trapping. Look at a huge group, work out the maths of how to do the whole lot quickest, predict the AI. Defeat all with barely a scratch.
Following what Plainguy has said. I have a Traps defender and Mastermind. They do not have to survive by the same methods as a /Dev so they don't. I pretty much skip the Mines on them really, the Mortar, the Poison Gas Trap, the FFG is most of what I need. So having a /Dev and /Trap or Trap doesn't mean a repeat game.

Thinking about making an AR/Dev Blaster. If I chose the Munitions Mastery APP; will there be weapon redraw or not?
I'm guessing no since AR and Munitions' powers use the same gun model but....not sure if there would be redraw if I chose a different model gun for AR or not....

I think I already know the answer, but I thought I should research it. I am starting a new AR Blaster, and was wondering which I should chose as a secondary. Devices or Energy. Devices fit better thematically, Energy has a lot going for it. Any thoughts?
