Quote:Yeah, I pretty much have to turn my brain off every time I go there. The romans got off easily compared to what the devs did to Celtic mythology back in i5.
"Hey, we'll make the Tuatha de Danaan green moss-moose monsters and the Fir Bolg fire breathing Pumpkin trees"
Though I am SO stealing the term "moss-moose".
Up until now, I'd just referred to them as "cariboooo". -
As a player of several villains, I'd sum up with:
"I don't need yet another random factor clumsily altering my plans. It's easier to eliminate than accommodate." -
Happened to a friend of mine last night when he was switching characters. Logging out of the game entirely seemed to fix it, at least at the time. No idea if he's had the issue today.
Might be a database error. Might also be a locally stored account flag being improperly read, which might be the case if the problem isn't universal. Even if you DO eventually get access to the "locked" characters, I'd advise submitting a /bug report so they can accurately track the issue. -
Quote:Heh, personally, the first "bull" toon concept that popped into my head was a fire/fire... something... named "Cowering Inferno"Anyway, well done on the pack, and I look forward to finally making my themed toon, "Black Bull"!
Good excuse to abuse the /e cower emote, too. -

Quote:Well, if your definition of "jump" is synonymous with "disagree", then yes. If you don't want additional space, feel free to not use it. If reading someone else's badly-written bio pains you, close it. Problems solved.I'm probably going to get jumped on here but I really really don't want any more bio space available. It has already been increased once and even that wasn't necessary. I like reading bios but seriously the majority of people who use the entire space are poor writers because they have never learned to edit what they are writing.
Quote:A bio is supposed to be a brief introduction to the character. If you want to learn more then you talk to them. A bio is not a novel, it is the teaser on the back of the book (or inside flap or whatever).
Quote:A "writer" can intrigue you with a hundred words. Asking for a longer bio because you can't write your story is like asking for double the amount of slots per power because you can't make your character work well with only 6.
Quote:Learn to work within restrictions and your ability grows. Eliminate restrictions and you eliminate any reason to improve.
Quote:On the other hand I do agree completely with fixing the interface. It is beyond broken unless you manage to type your bio perfectly the first time with absolutely zero errors. -
Quote:Heh, my wife's Mercs/TA MM is quite popular on teams.Flipside of that, though, is i got invited to a few teams that found out i wasn't a healer but didn't kick me off the team, though a comment or 2 about how TA sucks flashed across the screen. At least until the found themselves steamrolling over mobs cuz they were debuffed to high Hades. One team in particular didn't even realize what was happening at first, and this was a "TA Sucks" team. The started putting mobs down alot faster and actually asked me "these things are dying ALOT faster...is that cuz of you?"
"Yyyyup"
"TA ROCKS!"
made my effin day -
Quote:Well yeah. Because, y'know, all the teleporting you do in combat... right?..Once, a long time ago, I was kicked from a synapse because my emp/ was using tp as a travel power and the leader in the second mish realized that and said it was an end hog and I shouldn't be so stupid. Then I was kicked. Fun stuff.
Another fine 20/20 hindsight view of a team you didn't actually want to be on in the first place, if you ask me. -
Quote:Seems like you may still be missing the point some folks have tried to make. The team in question was apparently looking for rad/ (Radiation Emission), not /rad (Radiation Blast), in their desired Defender. And while /rad DOES contain some debuff, it's honestly insignificant compared to those in rad/. Since they may already have been looking at a team-wide defense soft-cap, your Force Field primary might very easily have been useless to their existing team composition.to most people saying stuff like i was just angry because they didnt pick me thats not it i was fine that they didnt need -def but then they claim all the sudden that /rad isnt debuff and thats why im angry
In any case, I've never personally been too upset by a team rejection. If they are looking for something specific that I don't provide, they'll be prone to getting butt-hurt about not having it, and taking it out on me, if the TF goes South. And while I personally enjoy the laughs, such things are not for everyone. Most prefer to avoid the annoyance. -
The game will be 9.5 years old when I get this, assuming it's still here.

This issue isn't just a demon pet thing. Any mastermind with variable pets in a given tier has this issue. You'll notice it with your tier 2 demons as well. I first ran into it on my thugs mm, where I tried to name my arsonist "Matches". The name doesn't "stick" to him - as far as the game is concerned, the only discreet name that's really his is "Arsonist".
-
Have an undead pirate necro/storm. His minions are named things like "Scurvy Dog" and "Bo'sun". Toyed with another that has all the /storm powers recolored to look like dirt and sand, but until they give us a "wrapped" torso and legs, I'm not terribly enthusiastic about playing my "mummy" character.

I use a handy Attack/Defensive macro that works like a charm. They attack the desired target and, lacking other targets, revert to BG. Obviously, once they've attacked a target, the rest of the spawn dives in, so there's no "idling" happening as long as enemies are still present. The lone exception I've found are Roman Immunes Surgeons, who have no attacks. If that is the only spawn survivor, Attack/Defensive pets ignore him after defeating everything else. Since the surgeons are usually my FIRST target, this is rarely an issue.
-
Agreed. There are plenty of times on a team where I've set pets on Aggressive to attack specific targets. When I'm not the target of any attacks, I don't need the mitigation. Aggressive pets are not the suicide mode most people think they are. Uncontrolled pets are. If their aggro shifts, I reinforce my previous commands. It's that simple.

Ultimately, the central problems remains - until the system becomes transparent, ie until buyers can see what sellers are selling thing FOR, you'll continue to get this illusionary, impatience-based "pricing". It shouldn't need stating, but remember that the prices you see are ALWAYS the price someone paid for something, NOT the price someone listed it for. Only the buyer knows what that was. It's not an open market.
If buyers could see what items were being offered and at what price, you'd see more realistic value-based prices. Unfortunately, the current system was not (apparently) designed by someone with any knowledge about genuine economy, and at this stage, it's unlikely we'll ever see such a thing here. -

Weekly Strike Target
- Every week a hero task force and a villain strike force, or one co-op task force may be designated as the “Weekly Strike Target” for that week. Look for announcement of which Weekly Strike Target is active on the Message of the Day and on the official City of Heroes boards every Tuesday.
- Characters who successfully complete a Weekly Strike Target will receive a once-a-week gift of double merits for completion based upon the typical undiminished merit reward for the content, and a grant of up to a third, half, or two-thirds of their entire level of XP (based upon the relative length of the content). Characters who have unlocked their Alpha Slot will also receive a Rare “Notice of the Well” Incarnate Component.
- This reward is only available once per week per character, even if multiple Strike Targets are completed.
Alpha Slot Rare and Very Rare Tiers
- Rare recipes for the Alpha Slot Rare powers are added using the existing Alpha Component Pool and a new Rare Alpha Component called "Notice of the Well" – which can be acquired as part of the Weekly Strike Target reward for a character who has unlocked their Alpha Slot.
It's been said repeatedly before: there needs to be a way for solo players to gain "Notice of the Well". A challenging way, perhaps, but A Way™.
And make no mistake: I am NOT a member of that crowd - I'm just trying to be a reasonable advocate for their interests before the hue and cry sets in. Again. -
I'd be cool with virtually ANY base-building love at this point - even incremental improvements would be better than the most recent (non-existent) ones.
However, I'm sure I speak for a great many who would NOT support any changes that would require scrapping what (for me) has been years of devoted tweaking to one or more large bases. If that happens... *shrugs* the system will be dead to me. I don't have the time, energy or will anymore to start over, rebuilding bases that (in some cases) have over 1000 objects in a single room. Further, even in cases where that number might be reduced (for example, by the addition of floating "floor" sections), I simply don't want to re-create entire layouts again from memory. -
Almost got my WS to 50 tonight on a Synapse, so should be a forgone conclusion - will probably continue on my dark/dark Corr (47) and see if I can swing 2 more 50s (for a total of 7) in one weekend.
