what does it matter to you how someone else plays their game? you are not being forced into doing anything in the game. you have multiple options how to play your toons. seriously we don't need another " AE is the Devil" thread. this is the FoTM. it will die down. go play the game the way you want and stop trying to tell people how to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't matter what an individual does as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of over individuals. Since architect is removing a vast majority of the population of players into farms, increasing the price of salvage and will lead to people quitting the game further reducing the population of the game, then as a whole, architect is effecting other players.
[/ QUOTE ]
The MA isn't 'removing a vast majority of the population of players into farms.' The people farming now were the same people farming before the MA. They just had other ways of doing it. They can do it in a more condensed fashion now. The farmer population didn't grow, it just consolidated.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it grew as well. With the new auto-SK feature built into MA arcs the farmers can now grab any lowbie in Atlas or Mercy to fill up a farm team and they don't have to worry about mentors or XP range limits.
The short of it is, MA was never intended to be used as PLing tool. Farming is all well and good. Going from 1-50 in less than 8 hours is not. New players will get bored fast and they will leave when they do. This does not fare well for the game on a whole.
While I don't agree that MA should simply be removed. There are some problems (Comm Officers) that must be addressed before it's too late.

I'm still not confident if it was anything animated or just capes specifically they wanted to ban.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it was more Capes than "everything animated" mainly because of the clipping and the continuous animation. The animation for wings is not constant and I don't see it being as much of a drag on people's machines as capes. So, I think the only real reason Wings got locked out was because they are in the same category. But then, I could be mistaken.

Now that we have the Magic Pack and those kooler than kool Costume Change emotes, I am feeling a bit flat on that Cyborg (Tech) Pack. Where are the Tech CC emotes? Will there be Natural CC emotes? What about Science and Mutation? We're doing a Pack for every Origin, right? Then why shouldn't we have CC emotes for every Origin?
My suggestions:
Tech:
cclightshow (laser light show display with a flash during the transition)
ccbeammeup (character pushes buttons on wrist followed by a classic Star Trek style disintegration and reintegration)
Natural:
ccphonebooth (a phone booth appears and the character steps in and then steps out changed)
ccripoff (the character does a chest ripping aniamtion as a clothlike animation rips apart revealing the new costume)
Science:
ccinjection (the character pulls our a syringe and injects him or herself, they do the shaking electrocuted animation as a cloud of green enshrouds them and then fades away to reveal the new costume)
ccpotion (the character imbibes a potion which causes him or her to wretch, terrible pain causes them the do the frustation animation as red liquid drips from their pores and reveals the new costume as the liquid pours off)
Mutant:
ccelectric (a surge of electricity crosses the character's body and electrical burst reveals the new costume)
ccpillarofflame (a pillar of fire blasts into the sky as the character, engulfed in flames, transforms)
Anyway, these are my ideas. Let me know what you think and add more if you have any.
Thanks!
-
So, this would be a suggestion for a Natural Booster Pack?
Okay, sure. That makes some sense.
How about adding some Native American pieces too then? Maybe some Mexican bits? Or one of those kool Canadian Mounted Police uniforms?
That sounds like a fine idea for a Natural Pack.
As for the flags, this was something that I was in favor of but according to devs is not likely to happen because of the possible outcry from players in countries that are not represented.
My solution was simple. Only do the flags for the countries where the game is actually distributed. Add flags as distribution area increases. Can't please all of the people all of the time, but you can make the ones you're catering to happy.

With cloudy eye and a struggling intellect he fetched this out:
"Marry, I seem not to understand. It is proved that our wages be double thine; how then may it be that thou'st knocked therefrom the stuffing?an miscall not the wonderly word, this being the first time under grace and providence of God it hath been granted me to hear it."
Well, I was stunned; partly with this unlooked-for stupidity on his part, and partly because his fellows so manifestly sided with him and were of his mindif you might call it mind. My position was simple enough, plain enough; how could it ever be simplified more? However, I must try:
"Why, look here, brother Dowley, don't you see? Your wages are merely higher than ours in name , not in fact ."
"Hear him! They are the doubleye have confessed it yourself."
"Yes-yes, I don't deny that at all. But that's got nothing to do with it; the amount of the wages in mere coins, with meaningless names attached to them to know them by, has got nothing to do with it. The thing is, how much can you buy with your wages?that's the idea. While it is true that with you a good mechanic is allowed about three dollars and a half a year, and with us only about a dollar and seventy-five"
"Thereye're confessing it again, ye're confessing it again!"
"Confound it, I've never denied it, I tell you! What I say is this. With us half a dollar buys more than a dollar buys with youand THEREFORE it stands to reason and the commonest kind of common-sense, that our wages are higher than yours."
He looked dazed, and said, despairingly:
"Verily, I cannot make it out. Ye've just said ours are the higher, and with the same breath ye take it back."
"Oh, great Scott, isn't it possible to get such a simple thing through your head?..."

Really, what they should do is switch up some of the components necessary to create recipes with salvage. There is a whole lot of salvage that goes almost completely unused. The distribution should be more balanced. Luck Charms shouldn't be required for as many recipes as they are. Arcane salvage shouldn't have a stranglehold on the market while Tech salvage is tossed in the dirt. And uncommon salvage shouldn't be worth less than common salvage. I understand they made Arcane salvage more popular in an effort to get players to fight enemies they didn't like to fight, but the time for that is over. We need to balance the salvage market and with it, the recipe market will likely follow.
As for rare Recipes, Uniques and Purples and their prices, that's just supply and demand. The demand is high, the supply is low, hence the prices are going to be high. Nothing you can do about that.
I do not support the idea of Dev market flooding though. That would ruin the game's economy. Some people like to play the market. This is part of the game they enjoy. Why should your enjoyment come before theirs?

I made a pretty kool costume for my Fire/Storm Corr that might fit your fire/ice theme.
I used the Tech Sleek top and pants in dark gray with the Frost pattern in aqua, combined with the Flared gloves and boots in yellow with the Flames pattern in red. Then I added a Tech Banded belt and Cyborg General Shoulders in dark gray with lighter gray highlights and a simple black Over the Shoulders Cape with the Lightning pattern in teal. Adding the Neck cover (Masks with Hair, Full Masks) piece to match the Cape makes the mantle appear stately. The combination of colors and patterns contrasts really well. I'd show you a screen shot of him if I had one handy, but I don't.

There's a power ingame already called Contaminated Strike, though. (Least I think that's what it's called.) It's one of the attacks the Shivans have, and it most certainly is not a cone
[/ QUOTE ]
True. The Contaminated also use the same attack. Maybe call it Contaminated Maul then.

Hey folks,
I've checked in with all the powers that be and we have pleaded the community case. This bug is not cosmetic it is a performance related issue and unfortunately we cannot leave it live.
Just wanted to clarify that point.

[/ QUOTE ]
But what about the Wings? Are they really as much of an issue for performance as dual capes? It doesn't seem like they would be.

What would you tweak?
1 - Barrage - minor damage, -def
1 - Energy Punch - moderate damage, -def
2 - Bone Smasher - high damage, possible disorient (20% ?)
6 - Build Up
8 - Fault/Lightning clap - knockdown with disorient (Mag 2)
12 - Taunt
18 - Cosmic Burst - extreme damage with disorient (Mag 3)
26 - Electron Haze - knockdown, narrow cone (30 deg.), 7 ft. range, moderate damage
32 - Irradiate - moderate damage DoT, -def AoE, short recharge (20 seconds), high end (18.5)
[/ QUOTE ]
1: Ionized Thrust (Melee, Minor Damage(Energy/Smashing), Foe Knockback, Foe -Defense)
1: Irradiated Brawl (Melee, Moderate Damage (Smashing/Energy), Foe -Defense)
2: Contaminated Strike (Melee(Cone), Moderate Damage, Energy/Smash) Foe -Defense)
6: Build Up
8: Irradiate (Point Blank Area over Effect, Moderate Damage over Time(energy), Foe -Defense)
12: Taunt
18: Active Absorption (Point Blank Area of Effect, Moderate Damage(Energy), Self +Endurance, Foe -Endurance)
26: Radioactive Smash (Melee, High Damage (Energy/Smash), Foe Knockdown, Foe Disorient, -Defense, -Fly)
32: Ionized Transfer (Melee, Extreme Damage (Smashing/Energy), Foe -Defense; Self -Defense)
[/ QUOTE ]
I would replace the animation for Contaminated Strike with the Shadow Maul animation using green clouds, instead of black, to represented a Contamination effect. This would also change it to a Melee(Cone) effect, so I would remove the Knockback.
I would definitely play such a Scrapper or Brute.

Soooo, what's a good and fun server to play on? I had a few suggestions by PM already but I'd love to hear what people have to say.
[/ QUOTE ]
I play on all of them, but I tend to play on Infinity, Justice, Liberty and Triumph more than the others.
They all have their good points.

I really don't see a problem with this idea. If someone wanted to pay to transfer a group of characters to another server, why not let them.
I mean, yeah, the price was implemented as a way to discourage it, but that doesn't mean it's total non-negotiable, does it?
Say for transferring 3 characters the cost was 24.99 instead of the 29.97 it would be one at a timing it. And perhaps transferring 6 characters could give a slightly larger break on the price. Say 51.99 instead of 59.94. What's wrong with people getting to play the characters they want on the server they want to play on in exchange for adding revenue to the company's coffers?
I too suggested he reroll on the other server, but as he said, he doesn't want to. Why not give him a slightly cheaper way to move his stable of characters if we can?
In lieu of this becoming possible, might I make another suggestion, Satera?
Have your friends reroll on a totally new server and you do the same. Start a SuperTeam (you can read more about these on the server and announcement boards) and play them all together whenever you play. Create leveling pacts if you like. It might possibly tide you over until you can afford to move your toons like you want. And it might start you and your friends on a whole new adventure together, beginning a Super Group together and building it up from scratch, rolling new alts to join in the crusades on the new shard. The sky is the limit, literally.

Wow, man. If this is how you are going to take reasoned criticism you may not want to visit these boards. Bill and I simply told you the many reasons that vehicles are not being considered. The devs have said the same thing when they responded to these questions in the past. I'm sorry you don't like it, but that's the way it is.
You can't just blurt out something you think of (which has been suggested many times before and can be found easily by using the Search feature) and expect everyone to jump on your bandwagon like you're awesome. You are going to received negative responces. You are going to be told what other players have been told about the same subject. Calling names and being a **** will not change that. In fact, it will just make it worse.
And in this forum, we do not take kindly to the mutilation of the English language. This is not an IM board. This is not twitter or your cell phone. This is a forum. If you want people to understand what you are saying it is generally a good idea to use proper grammar.
Good luck to you if you can't deal with that.
-
Since this mostly comes down to power customization, not likely. Also, for vehicles like Motorcycles and Cars, the roads in CoX aren't really constructed for that kind of travel. If you look around you find that many of them dead end or loop around for no reason other than aesthetics.
And the vehicles that are on the roads now would become a major travel problem since they all move so slow and would collide with player vehicles. The whole city would need to be reconstructed to work with those kind of vehicles.
Then of course there's the problem of what happens if you are attacked and what happens when you use another power. Are you locked out of using powers? How does the animation work? Does the vehicle vanish? What about in missions? Would you be driving a car through office hallways?
There are just too many problems that would arise to really consider vehicles as valid travel powers, and the devs have said as much.
Edit: /e snaps- Darn! Bill beat me with his canned response.

Actually, I would prefer it be done a little differently.
I would make it so that when you first enter Atlas Park she becomes a contact. I would give her a single messenger mission to deliver a message to Miss Liberty or perhaps Back Alley Brawler. This would unlock the Call button for her and then she would send us back to our regular contact. She would then become an Inactive contact until level 20 and 30 when (like on villainside) she would appear in our Active tab with the Cape or Aura mission ready to go. -

While I realize there was a bug with the Back Details availability while wearing a Magic Bolero and that the Capes should be disallowed to avoid load spikes and massive clipping issues. I would like to humbly request that Wings (which have no such clipping issues) remain available. I've made two costume with these that came out really awesome and I'd hate to have to refrain from using the Tailor with them for the rest of their careers.
Living-Dead Girl
Wicked Little Thing
I also had ideas for an angelic character which I may never be able to fully explore.
Since this costume part is very similar to Trench Coats, I would also like to request that Wing availability be allowed for them as well.
Join me in my request if you agree.

Currently with the purchase of the Magic Pack you are given the ability to have 2 capes. This is a bug and will be fixed in the next build to live. Once the fix is published to the live servers, a visit to the tailor will remove the 2nd cape option.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why should we lose out on a cape because of your mistake? Not our fault you guys didn't make sure the bugs were out before selling it to us.
[/ QUOTE ]
What that actually means is that you have the ability, through combination of costume bits to make a character that is wearing two capes simultaneously. You will still get the Magic/Occult/Elegant versions. You just won't be able to combine the witch top (the female one with trenchcoat-like cape) with the full Capes available in Back Detail.
Hopefully they'll be able to do this without taking access to Wings away (hint hint).

You answered your own question...
[ QUOTE ]
For someone who plays many many alts (like many of us), how is one to tell which have done it and which have just been in the building?
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
...the Instructor vanishes from your contact list when it is complete.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
I said that, man.
"... short of noting that the contact doesn't appear on your list."
When you play 147 characters, most of which are above level 30 at this point and have active and inactive contact lists a mile long, it's not really an easy task to track down a contact which is not there.
If the contact was there, with a little filled up progress bar, that would be a different story.
[/ QUOTE ]Why do you even feel the need to do the tutorial? It's not because of the reward (there isn't one). It's probably not because of the information you get (you can get the same info from talking to the NPCs without doing the mission, and after your first time you probably know it all anyway). It could be because you're OCD about clearing out your contacts list, in which case you'd find him when you look at your list.
[/ QUOTE ]
True. However it would be in the finding that he is not listed (since he vanishes permanently after completion) that would tip me off.
I also would just like to note here that the Exploration badge: Thrill Seeker can be had in any AE building, not just the Atlas and Mercy locations, which house the tutorial. So, you don't even have to go anywhere near the tutorial contact to get it.
I still think that this is an idea worth considering.
-
I noticed this with Hasten on my Scrapper. It was fully recharged as I had just logged in. It simply didn't automate. I waited for at least 10 minutes and it didn't go off until I actually clicked it. After that there was no problem.
-
I agree. This is a very good idea.

[ QUOTE ]
The building itself isn't that cool, especially on the outside.

If you say so. Name another tall building where those flying and jumping around outside can view those who are inside and vice versa.
Personally, I think they did a great job on it.
Kudos guys and gals! /e standingO
