rember last expansion was villains how many AT's did that bring to the game?
This is marketed as a boxed expansion so should atleast have 4 new AT's if not they should publish it as what it should be an ISSUE not a new box
[/ QUOTE ]
Unlike City of Villains, which was also a stand alone game, Going Rogue is a pure expansion. As such they don't have to add any new ATs. The expansion is based upon the idea of switching sides, which means the current ATs will be able to be used in different ways and on the opposite side of the coin. That doesn't mean they won't add any new ATs, but they don't have to.

Mission accomplished.
We found that Midnighter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Was it one of the rooms I mentioned?
-
Sometimes (the map chosen is random) there is a room you pass through in that mission that has a small pyramid and some of the typical CoT buff crystals. Just above that pyramid is a small balcony. I have found that if that room appears in the map, Percy will always be found on that balcony.
If that room does not appear, then there may also be a room with a large canal in the middle of two pyramidal structures with bridges between them. At the bottom of one of the structures (to your right as you enter the room usually) there is a doorway that leads into a room with a hole in the floor. If you drop through that hole there is another room behind that structure. Percy is usually located there.

The only reason I decided to tie the skins to origin is because because of one word - "theme." As dolphin mentioned, it is silly to see a technological hero/villain running around in loincloth, just like it would be silly to see a magic origin hero/villain running around with a flamethrower.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just think of it this way. A lot of players a while back (before Ouroboros) were told to just take Magic as an origin because that way they would be sure to get the Fortune Teller mission. The players who did such weren't necessarily making Magic heroes. They chose the origin to assure access to a badge that they might miss otherwise. Other people chose origin just because they know where all the stores are of a certain origin and find them easier to get to. These people might be locked out of using options they may want just because they made that non-theme based decision way back then.
And why is is silly to think that a woman who was born of a Magic using family found she was also the subject of a Mutation? What about a Mutation that allows control of Magical forces, (ie. Magik New Mutants, X-Men).
Why is it silly to think a Technology using character from the future could also figure out the intricacies of waving a Magic wand and using spells? Have we never heard of Shadowrun?
And what about Natural characters that are not of human genealogy? A demon's powers could be considered Natural since they are natural to all demons, but are they also considered Magical creatures? Would they not be able to use spells and magical trappings? Would they not be able to pick up and wield a laser gun?
What if an elf (Magic creature whose powers are Natural to his species) was transported into the future, involved in an fight or accident, operated on and given cybernetic organs (Technology), then transported back in time, found by Crey Industries tested on with drug therapies and gene splicing (Science), then ultimately escaped and became a hero?
You've just got to learn to think outside the Origin box.

Dolphin, if thats all you got from the OP and the subsequent posts you where not paying attention.
To recap: cool new stuff good. Limiting it to origin bad.
If you want to know why I suggest you re-read the thread.
[/ QUOTE ]Then don't limit it to origin?
*shrugs*
We've got magic folks wearing tech armor, and technical geniuses running around in loincloths for crying out loud.

In that case I would be all for it, but it's still Power Customization.

Wow. The negativity from the forum high post count seems way too high.
What the guy's asking for are the Iron Man gloves that have repulsors in the palm, Captain Cold's freeze ray (that pistol doesn't count as it's a 25 minute one shot), Weather Wizard's wand, or Green Lantern's Ring: An actual physical device or weapon that is the source of their power.
Personally, I think it's a marvelous idea. I doubt that the devs will put forth the time or effort into it. But, I think it's a wonderful idea nonetheless.
Put me in the 'want' category for this one.
[/ QUOTE ]
What he's asking for is Power Customization, which again I am all in favor of. Something that has been debated again and again and is still just beyond the reach of development at the current time.
The problem is that he is asking to tie these customizations to an arbitrary choice that may or may not represent how the player actually wants his character to use his powers.
If these kind of customizations are ever added to the game they should be left open to anyone that would want to use them and not tied into the origin blocking players from using something else than what was dictated for an origin which had no consequences when they chose it over 5 years ago.
We're not being negative. We're just telling him the problems with his suggestion.
-
One, you're allowing characters to choose alternate animations for their powersets. That's power customization and it would require new animations for every origin for every powerset in the game. That's a lot more than a few. Sure you're not changing the color, but you're changing something that's even harder to change and requires a lot more work.
Two, you're trying to tie these choices to the origin of the character. So, what happens with a multiple origin character? I realize most people don't really get this but you can play a character who's powers are from one origin yet they also use equipment or skills that are from another.
A prime example would be Positron. Technically he is a mutant that uses a power suit to direct his mutant power and allow him to control it. That's a Technology/Mutant dual origin character. So, does he only get to pick from Technology or only Mutation?
Also, what weapons do Mutation characters get to choose from? Really? And Natural characters? Does taking the Fire/ Blaster powerset as a Natural automatically give me just the choice of a Flame Thrower or continuing to throw fire from my hands? How does that make sense?
I'm all for power customization, but I would never want anything so tied to an arbitrary choice I made when creating a character which may not even be the only origin the character has depending on my own definitions of the character.
Sorry, no go from me.

Well I think that if the HEAT and VEAT are not transferable that I was thinking they could make new Epics one for getting a hero AT to lvl 50 on villainous content and vice versa. So there are options.
[/ QUOTE ]
The devs have already stated that no further ATs will be unlocked by getting characters to 50. They realized that was a mistake with the hero Epic and only did the same with the villain Epic for parity sake.
That's not to say there might not be a new Epic AT (which is of course just speculation), but getting to 50 definitely will not be the way you unlock it.

I have also never played GTA, and could never bring myself to do it. I can not disengage my moral compass like that. I know that most of my friends think I'm silly and hopeless, I just can't seem to do it without having the intense desire to go shower afterward.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just so you know, you can play GTA without being a total butthead beating up pedestrians for their money and whatnot. Just because the possibility is there doesn't mean you have to do it. Sure you're playing a bad guy, but everyone else you are fighting in those games are also bad guys, even the crooked cops. You can even drive the speed limit and stop for traffic signals if you really want to.
[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't that just (arbitrarily self-inflicted) Hard Mode? You can't jack any cars other than the mission's requirements?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why you should memorize the locations of nice parked cars, then you just pretend they are yours, get in and drive away. You don't have to jack a moving vehicle. It's really not hard mode just to avoid killing people and doing mean spirited things for no reason whatsoever. Beating up hookers is not a requirement of the game.

Something along these lines would be nice.
I would add a SG filter and Global Friends filter as well, since not all of our SG mates will be on our Friends list and not all Global Friends may be on the Friends list for the particular character they may be playing at the time.
Moderator, please move this to Suggestions.

Characters riding on other characters? Sorry, but with the collision system the game engine uses we can't even ride on a moving vehicle. What makes you think we'd be able to do this?
And that dragon would be a low end graphic card nightmare. Our devs don't use easily readable origami style geometry when creating textures and animations in this game. Such a dragon would be made to look as realistic as possible. Having several players using these at the same time? Can you say crash children? I knew you could.

Except for the possibility of multiple side switching (which I doubt will be possible) I don't think so. The markets will not be merged, however a neutral market may be introduced.

I had this happen to me. It seems the bank thought this was a fraudulent purchase because it wasn't part of my predicted shopping trend report. I don't make online purchases a lot and my subscription is on a yearly renewal. Call your bank and make sure they know that it is really you trying to make this purchase.

The date I find in searching is April 27, 2004. However, I believe this is just the date when the box was released for pre-orders. Players who pre-ordered were allowed to get into the open beta for the final battle with the Rikti before the Live release which was a couple of weeks later, May 8, 2004, IIRC. The anniversary celebrates the Live release.

My immediate concern has nothing to do with mixing AT's. A fair amount of recent content has involved co-op, and it hasn't lessened the roles of AT's. Honestly, at level 50, a full team of most any combinations can accomplish most anything in the game.
My issue is that switching sides does absolutely nothing to fix the glaring disparities in the sides of the game. When CoV was released many* blue side players were unwilling to make a permanent switch from the toons/groups they had cultivated over the first 2 years of the game. CoV is also a far inferior game in terms of content and space. There simply isn't that much to do other than level. Sure, you could take your tanker over to redside if you wish there was a worse market, fewer people (already) to team with, and less to do.
Previously in order for the long time hero players to access the AT's in CoV they had to play redside. As the game gets older and more balanced even that is less enticing. When CoV released most of the AT's were direct ports from the boards.
Anybody remember when blasters wanted to be deleted because their secondary sets were so horrible? They wanted buffs ala defenders? Enter the corrupter! Nowadays though, blasters aren't that terrible, and they've certainly got a place in high damage groups.
Remember when pets got the nerf? Controllers wanted to be proper pet classes? There's your MM >shrug< in the meantime trollers have quietly become overly awesome.
They seem to be dismantling the desire to play redside at all. I certainly can't see an exodus from CoH over to CoV. I can, however, see many CoV toons making the switch over to CoH. Blue side is simply a better developed and obviously more complete game, hence the disparity in population. I understand the lack of CoV specific development and still disagree with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, you're suggesting this will cause some sort of mass exodus from CoV as everyone rolls ATs just to play the ATs (not to actually play a bad guy or good guy) and having a better market and more zones would draw them all over to blueside?
I have to admit that is a grim prospect for the redside of the game, but I doubt it is as likely to happen as you think.

I wonder if a Necro Mastermind goes Blue then the Zombies will be refitted so you get the impression the MM had permission to bring them back - or that they're so evil it's fitting.
Thugs can work - Reformed Freakshow exist.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, my main zombie MM is actually a government chemist who worked with the Army during the Vietnam war developing drugs to make super soldiers. Her zombies are the fallen soldiers that had been administered the drugs. They are fighting to find out the truth of the Army program they were involved in and to avenge their deaths. Such a path doesn't actually make her or her zombies villains, but that was the only choice I had when I created her.

[ QUOTE ]
So yea, switching sides has its advantages, but sort of ruins roleplaying gameplay in a way. I mean, that essentially means you can create whatever you want and have them be villains OR heroes. Now you can have MM heroes and villainous PBs.... idk, it just sounds 'off' to me. Limitations are good, and I think villains should stay in the Rogue Isles, and Heroes should stay in Paragon.
[/ QUOTE ]
If that's the way you feel, you are free to not purchase the expansion and continue to role play however you want to.
For many of us however, switching sides is something that provides an even greater role playing tool. We will now be able to actually play through our character's angst as they fall from grace or desperately try to prove themselves worthy of redemption, not just write it as part of their backstory.

To amend this: Add some sort of tag to story arc missions before you take them, so you know what you're getting into. If a tag is too awkward, maybe some additional (Possibly color-coded) text from the NPC...
"Once you're in, there's no backing down."
"I get the feeling we'll be working this case for awhile..."
Just off the top of my head.
[/ QUOTE ]
There already are tags, or rather titles. Story Arc and Mini-Arc missions will always say, "Story Arc Name: Part #". So, if you come across a mission that says Part 1 you will know that it is part of an arc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some do. I've found several examples in which they do not inform you. For example, I recently did a story arc for Technician Naylor (I already knew what it was, and was specifically trying to do it) which did not have any title or subtitle.
I admit, I had a bit of a brain lapse and forgot about the already existing titled arcs. I'm sorta drowzyBut in any case, they should all be labeled as such, to remove such discrepancies (sp?).
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the correct spelling.
If you come across any arcs that don't have said titles, please /bug it. They should all have titles at this point.

Check your Icons. It's been that way for 4 years. It's an arc that is opened. You can bypass it, but the arc is active. It's not a problem until you hit the arc limit and your Patron will not talk to you.
[/ QUOTE ]It's a Minor/Zone arc. You aren't gonna hit the limit on those.

If you say so. I have had it happen more than once. There was an issue a little while ago where you could only have 11 total arcs open. I have never seen any notice of this being changed.

Thank you for your concern.
All miniarcs and longarcs fill the storyarc of a character. If a character is having 9 or more miniarc or miniarrc/longarc, that character cannot open more arcs.
Please do let us know if you have further issues.

Just so you know, I've tested this personally and I have had up to 47 mini-arcs (green bookmarks) open at the same time (villainside of course). The only time I ever had a problem was when I had open arcs from RWZ, and that was a special circumstance. There are no actual limits to the number of mini-arcs you can have open. The few arcs that have caused a perceived limit (RWZ arcs, Mercedes Sheldon) were bugged and have since been fixed, I believe. I know Mercedes Sheldon was fixed because I've had her arc open on a few characters now and been able to continue opening new arcs. The RWZ arcs I am not entirely sure about as it's been some time since I left one of those open long enough to get new arcs at the same time. I just got used to finishing those arcs before trying to move on.

On the other hand, what if the arc is all that contact has left to offer you? Then you just skip right to the end of the contact and they say, "I have nothing more to offer you."
[/ QUOTE ]
Not a problem. From there I could go on to Radio/Paper missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then why don't you just do that now? If you know it's an arc and you don't want to do it, just start doing Radio/Paper missions. As long as you have the contact's call button they will still introduce you to a new contact when you reach the appropriate level.

When you start seeing stray cats and dogs wandering around with the pedestrians, that would be a hint that they have started working on animal skeletons for the game and may have plans for bigger ideas like this one in the works. That would mean they have worked out the most basic of the animations for walking and/or running and have designed quadrupedal skeletons.
Unfortunately, I don't think this is coming in the short term, but maybe someday.
