Quote:This would be a nice "click buff" much like a dominator's inherent power. That power in general sounds fun.Shove: Super Strength: After a power is used, for the next 3 second, the player will be able to run through enemies or shove them aside allowing for a quick escape.
Not necessarily practical, but still fun.

Does anyone have something to say about a beam/traps?
I've just rolled one and I'm hoping she can solo big targets. Provoke/Challenge is a good idea to keep enemies close as well. -
Quote:Damn, for once I thought i, speedy, was going to be first. -_-Warshades and Peacebringers are very different creatures. Peacebringers are more "contained," in that they don't rely on enemies for buffs or heals. They perform at a steady rate, never shining excessively at any given moment, whereas Warshades shine most against large groups of enemies. Peacebringers have significantly less control available to them, and more "brute force," in a sense.
In a nutshell, playing a Peacebringer is like playing an Energy Blaster with a secondary comparable to watered-down Super Strength and the potential for ungodly survivability. Playing a Warshade is like... Well, playing a Warshade. There's really nothing to compare it to.
U beat me by less than a minute !!! >:| -
Firstly:
- PBs are self reliant, and a good handful of their human form powers are clones from the forms
- PBs play alot like a blaster, with two self heals, resistance shields, and two powerful forms (nova + Dwarf)
- They're fun for solo play, because they rely on themselves
Warshades:- Play on an entirely different level if built correctly
- Their strength/buffs come from the enemies around them, so to the more enemies you have the more buffs u can get through your powers (Mire, Eclipse, Circle, Fluffies)
- If you pay through the nose to get around 160-170% global recharge, with hasten active they can have permenantly capped resistances (around 85%)
- A Warshade without this type of build plays much better on a team, because the first strike isn't aimed directly at you.
In my opinion, warshades are an overall better AT, but they're hard to get the hang of. Peacebringers are an easy introduction to Kheldians; I'd reccomend them first if youre just dipping your toes into the Kheldian pool -

Quote:This is exactly true, I've played Khelds for awhile and peacebringers have that ranged/armor feel. I could see why it's not mentioned here though; simply because it seems like there is a strong desire for an ranged/armor AT that has more "theme" availibility. PBs, much like VEATs are locked into their own specific lore.I'm surprised no one mentioned Peacebringers... with all the changes they got it sounds exactly like what you want... except you can't customize the powers.
That said...
Human Form Only Peace Bringer focused on the ranged attacks with Perma-Light Form and the right set bonuses has about 30% resistance to psi and 85% resistance to everything else. Basically perma Inner Light for solid ranged damage. Hell it's even got some mez protection without clarion and the ability to heal itself and others if you're so inclined.
I'm currently building one right now >_> and she's been a blast to play so far.
I basically just charge in and blast away letting resistance shields (till i get light form) and reform essence take care of the incoming damage. -
Quote:I'd say that the peacebringer side is currently nothing close to "sort of having APPs"Kheldian get 5 more powers in their primary (14 to 9) and 4 more in their secondary (13 to 90) than regular ATs do, so I think the general attitude might be that Kheldians sort of have APPs - they're just kind of klunked in there with their regular powers.
Although they have more powers; Radiant strike, luminous bolt, solar flare, photon scatter, luminous detonation, gleaming blast, and also reform essence are all cloned into their respective forms...
So if we were to take out some of those clones there *might* be more room for APPs; or if we were to take those clones and make them unique powers of their own then APPs wouldn't even be needed. -
Quote:I can completely agree on that aspect. Khelds are fine as is, it's just I feel that they need more of a themactic feature, something that really makes them even more fun to play; while also embracing the lore of what a Kheldian really is. The idea i'm working on is going to encorperate the lore of being a Kheldian shape shifter and a human form Kheldian and wrap them into one intensely pleasing AT that everyone can enjoy; human form, or multi-form; IOs or SOs.I'm just not comfortable with a total rework of how the AT functions, since it's already pretty powerful and a lot of people are very fond of their Peacebringers how they are. I know the OP is only trying to make the forms relevant for end game play, but I really just don't see a reason for that to be necessary. You get plenty of mileage out of forms from levels 1-50 and on cheap builds/lack of build.
I see no reason for forms to be turned into something that they're not. I feel like the suggestion quoted in the last post is more a desire for an aesthetic change for Peacebringers, and there's a simple solution for HEAT's to be distinguishable: Give us teh Kheld sash! -
Thank you guys so much for all of the feedback! I appreciate it SO much.
Everything you input here is inching me along to a more refined vision of what Kheldians could be and I'm being sure that i don't leave any rock unturned. In another day, or few I'll post my refined idea so u guys can help me out with it.

Quote:You seem to be missing his point. As are most of the replies supporting VEATs. You've listed a flurry of work arounds to the problem that he is presenting: Lack of a ranged toon, with armor as a secondary that can be themed multiple ways. He's asking for an AT designed to be ranged, and self supporting only. Not a team based at like a VEAT minus the team abilities. In the end, a VEAT is still an arachnos subordinate and your dom + blaster suggestions are still doms and blasters.Try a Huntsman SoA build... take the gun powers and Bane Spider Armor and you have an Assault Rifle / Super Reflexes Scrapper with no goofy spider arms and some team utility that also helps you when solo. Or make a high ranged defense Blaster... you don't need to wait until 50, just start slotting Thunderstrikes and other ranged defense IOs in the late 20s to low 30s and take Hover. Or better yet, go with a /Traps Corruptor and add some ranged defense set bonuses to FFG to reach near-Scrapper levels of protection plus some nice debuffs that are great solo or teamed. You can also get a pretty safe ranged attacker by making a Dominator and picking a secondary with good ranged damage like Fire or Psi... it will play much like a Blaster (good ranged damage backed up by strong melee) but with strong control powers to help keep you alive.
He's looking for an AT DESIGNED for someone who wants ranged damage, and some defenses without having to pick pools and make huge investments for ranged defense or skipping some powers. For example, yeah I could take a dom like you said. But then i'd be playing a ranged/control toon; not a ranged/defenses toon. I COULD take a blaster and cap ranged defense, but i'd need a large build to do so.
I agree completely with the idea of a ranged primary, and defense secondary AT. You could EASILY take Dual Pistols, and give it a secondary like say...MAThen remove some of the stronger powers and add some defense toggles, or even mez protection instead.

Quote:Thanks for the Input THB!I do feel that VEAT's have a greater ability to contribute to a team in terms of buffs, but they can't be like Kheldians- Killing everything, out-surviving everyone, and in essence, becoming the team. When I play my Warshade on standard PUG teams, the most I've ever seen anyone contribute is pronouncing themselves Veng Bait and providing entertaining conversation.
That being said, I do feel that VEAT's access to epic pools and debuff capacity is pretty unfair compared to Kheldians.
Just one quick question, on terms of team contribution (quoted above) are you talking about VEAT's not contributing, or Khelds? I got a bit lost up there. -
Okay. So if any of you have read Ashlocke's thread you may have read through some of his propositions about the Kheldian AT, and it's issues.
After this i began working my creative gears and I've come up with a decent idea to really flush out the Kheldian AT, its backstory, and also it's overall playability. Before refining this idea I need some research in the form of your feedback; I'd rather give out an idea that considers all of you Kheldian lovers rather than starting a troll-fest.
If you're willing to help out, I'll need you to answer a few questions. Try to keep your answers short, maybe list based. I've heard alot about them, so saying something like "No toggle suppression" or "long animation times" speaks for itself. Please try not to compare 'Bringers and 'Shades either.
Thanks for the Help! -Bionut
- Human, Bi, or Tri-form? Why?
- What is "wrong" with Peacebringers?
- What's wrong with Warshades?
- What's wrong with the respective human forms?
- How do they, if at all, compare to VEATs

Quote:Honestly, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think having my PB be surrounded by a hulking mass of energy in the shape of the current dwarf animation would be really interesting and it would look really cool. I've even imagined this idea when brainstorming animations for /energy manip blaster-side (energy fist rather than a pom-pom). Anyways, something like this is very suitable for dwarf form, but nova form; simply due to the fact that dwarf has legs and nova doesn't.Alright, now that we understand that the current forms tech does bad things to the Game, I've been pondering how to address that.
Peacebringers are supposed to be beings of energy right, so was thinking along those lines, what if we were to change the forms from a "change into" toggle, to more of an "Aura Envelope" toggle?
To explain what I mean by that, currently whatever costume slot you have active just disappears and is replaced by a SINGULAR looking Dwarf or Nova form, which is identical to every other Dwarf and Nova form, which is the crux of their problem and why they break the game so much when in those forms.
But what if instead when you activated a Form Toggle you just a Dwarf or Nova shaped energy aura that enveloped your human form in whatever costume slot you had active? Basically for game purposes it would act like any other toggle shield power, you turn it on, and you get fancy graphics surrounding you.
Edit: this inspired a pretty cool idea, but before i actually post it. I'd like to gather some research to refine said idea. -
Quote:I think it's almost impossible to hate claymore.I haven't seen/heard of anything officially either as to when these will debut but many seem to think with i22 since i21.5 is beta now and nothing there. and as to @magikwand-Good info- is your avatar Theresa of the Faint Smile, per chance? (Claymore)
yes, it is..good call. I didn't think anyone had ever heard of her. I absolutely hate anything anime (mostly because of the "matrix" effects) but this one stood out to me. -
You didn't take burn?! D:
My DP/Fire rocks that power. Combined with bullet rain you can 2-shot minions.
My questions, is are you being a blapper farmer, or a blaster farmer? -
I would love to take it for a spin. My blappers would love it. Especially with an 80ft-120ft range. That's awesome
-
If I were you I would greatly consider grabbing spring attack. My Dp/Fire blaster always had problems taking way to much damage pre-spring attack. It's not very useful for the damage component, but it's SO helpful for launching, in your case, soul drain, then Hail of Bullets. Slotted with decent accuracy it'll KD a good majority of the group. Then the added defense from HoB keeps you safe from those annoying guys that weren't knocked on their behind.
With that power, my blaster can fire off SpringAtt, HoB, and burn and barely get scratched. For you it should work wonders. Especially with dark's -tohit affects. -
Quote:Yeah. In the long run i sided with /Dark. It seemed like a very fun secondary, and so far I'm loving itFrozen Armor actually has pretty good Cold resistance (21% base) and minor (7%) Fire resist, so it can be slotted for resistance. Unfortunately the fire resist is a bit too low to fool with and cold damage really isn't common enough to bother slotting resist for, but at least you can pop a Steadfast 3% defense IO in it and actually get more cold resistance too since that IO does have some resistance enhancement.
Unfortunately, Power Boost doesn't affect defense powers that also offer enhanceable resistance so the downside is that if you are /Energy then you can't get extra defense from Power Boost. If you aren't going /Energy then that doesn't matter though. -
Quote:Not a bad idea. I'll have to tinker around with this in mids. I had no idea that Frozen Armor could take resistance IOs.Don't underestimate the of Frozen armor. Not only does it help cap S/L (~15 fully slotted) but it also accepts Resistance IOs, meaning you can slot Steadfast +3% defense (and the PvP +3% defense if you are hardcore enough to get it) without taking Boxing/Tough/Weave.
This allows you to work on capping S/L with only Combat Jumping and Manuevers, giving you Tactics for cheap S/L slots and allowing you to take both Hasten and Aid Self.
I hate the blocky graphic though and always go for Scorpion Shield even though it's annoying as heck to slog over villain side to procure it. But if it fits your concept it's a very good power. -
Quote:I can't wait to get thereDeath Shroud does not have the -To Hit secondary effect attached to its damage, unlike Smite and Shadow Maul, so it really will not give you any mitigation. In fact, the constant DoT will probably draw more attention to yourself than you actually want. It is definitely a power you should get a little later in your career, when you will be able to handle the attention.
Speaking of attention/aggro, just a heads up in case you've rarely gone in close with a blaster: blappers have very short lifespans before level 30 or so, because you are removing the one type of inherent mitigation that blasters get (the ability to deal high damage at a distance). You will most likely feel quite weak until level 40, which is about the time you'll have all your main melee attacks taken and slotted up. Persevere through the first 2/3 of your journey to 50 by knowing that you will, eventually, be a beast.I'm not sure what i want to do about Death Shroud yet. I guess i'll find out when i get there ^_^

Quote:Perma-Eclipse Warshade. They are outstanding solo. Expensive to build, but so worth it. Two of my friends have solo'd AVs with it, they cut through +4/x8 like a knife through butter.I am in search of a character that can do anything and everything solo (perhaps not better than something else but I would like to be able to do most of the difficult things solo.
IE.
Solo MoITF
Solo GM/AVs
Solo +4/x8 quickly
Influence/time is not an issue can and will make the most expensive build if possible, I am just trying to find something to cure this damn altitis of mine, would like to finally have a character that is decent at everything that I will like to go and get all of the badges/accolades etc, something to actually call my main.
The closest I have come to really would be my Bots/Traps MM but I have found she is utterly useless in trials, and seems to quite a bit less powerful since incarnates. -
Quote:Thanks!Death Shroud is alright. It's minor DoT, and it is negative energy damage so it will not be heavily resisted in most groups. If you are going to spend most of your time in close range, I would pick it up.
I also recommend picking up Stealth or a +Stealth IO to help you get into mobs and pop off Soul Drain before taking an alpha strike, Hasten to get Soul Drain up as much as possible, and Combat Jumping to add to your defense and help you quickly line up cone attacks like Frost Breath, Shadow Maul, and possibly Sands of Mu if you have it.I'll be living in melee so That sounds great. I'll have to find room for all of those! I basically would be using Shroud as mitigation rather than damaging. If it does -tohit, I'll probably throw the P.V.P chance for -resist in there
