Quote:Sad but true.
Or whining about how Brutes do more damage with better survivability - although admittedly those threads are several months old. It's not like the Scrapper forum is immune to the "grass is greener" mentality.
Quote:tl;dr version of the OP: zomg! There are idiots and false statements on the internet!

Quote:It's not a power. Claws' secondary effect is a 20% endurance and recharge discount off of the static equations the devs use for calculating damage and endurance.Which power(s) of Claws has that 20% recharge discount? I am a bit lost on that. Help...
It works like this:
Recharge for power is chosen
Damage is calculated from recharge value
Recharge is reduced by 20%
Endurance is calculated from the damage value and reduced by 20%
At least, that's how it used to be before the last round of animation changes introduced a damage tweak calculation based on cast time. -
Quote:I bet we get a response about it today.
When you take the complaints during beta and the complaints since I16 went live, and combine them with the data players are providing as well as our various theories I would have expected some sort of dev response by now. -
1: I see trends. The rep meter tends to agree with the trends I see. Therefore, I see no reason for its removal.
2: On my way to work I realized that I had confused you with Ultimus. My apologies for that. It doesn't change the fact that threads calling for the removal of the rep system existed prior to the creation of this thread.
3: You can already create Iron Man as a ff/eb defender or eb/em blaster.
4: If you could NOT care less what forum trolls think of you, you wouldn't have started this thread. -
Quote:
Can you give one single positive element to the reputation system?
It does not show the "worth of a poster", Green shows how many people like their posts which in part also equates to how much they post. Red shows how often their opinion differs from the popular one, which doesn't mean they're "useless".Quote:That said, I do not believe I have EVER deserved any of the negative rep, and I certainly haven't ever deserved the insults. I'll be answering all these at once.Quote:Now that's just plain being a jerk, Bill. Explain why you felt the need to deduct reputation from someone just because they have an opinion differing from yours. Now if he posted in a trollish, annoying or incoherent way, maybe...
I think I've added/deducted rep about 4 times total since the forums changed (most positive toward SteelClaw in this thread) but you'll be my 4th and my 1st deduction. Not because I don't agree with what you said but for misuse of the rep system.
The rep system does, barring aforementioned exceptions, show the "net worth" of a given poster. It IS to be used to share one's opinion of another poster with the rest of the forum's population.
In this case, I gave Ultimo negative rep because I find his repeated starting of new threads on existing topics annoying and I often find his posts in general to be poorly thought out. His tirades in the past regarding not being able to build tankmages as per his favorite fictional character are a prime example. (Don't get me wrong, I think Iron Man rocks as well. Used to collect the comic.)
I don't neg rep people out of petty vindictiveness. I do so with the intent that keeping their rep low will either leave them in the red, or cause them to disable it to hide their shame, so that others viewing their posts can easily ascertain whether the post in question should be bothered with.
In other words, TSZ, I don't share your opinion that the rep system isn't representative of one's worth in this virtual community. Again, barring some exceptions.
Ultimo, it does not surprise me that you don't think your negative rep and comments are deserved. I, otoh, do.
And Leo, thank you for the negative rep. I'm glad to see you using the system. You even signed it. However, we disagree. I neg rep not only for individuals simply, as you put it in your comment, "acting like a ******," but also when I find their opinion to be lacking substance and worth.
I'm certainly not going to neg rep someone because they disagree with me. Were I to do that I'd be spending 99% of my forum dwelling time filling in comments. No thanks.
I'll stick to neg repping those that I feel deserve it, usually with a signature and an explanation if I feel they deserve such an effort, but sometimes with nothing more than a period when I don't. -
If you run out of end between CP uptimes, then PP will help. Maybe not enough, but it will help.
However, that's my biggest gripe about the power order for Body Mastery.
PP's placement as a tier2 power needs to be changed. It should be tier1.
But I'm not holding my breath. -
Quote:It serves one purpose. If they took the anonymity out of the rep system it would get rid of a lot of the stupid comments people get. Allowing anonymous comments doesn't serve any purpose..
The truly stupid that leave actual insults can be plucked out by the mods and removed from the forums permanently.
The comments are only anonymous to us. -
Quote:It justifies it just as much as hitting every thread you can find with anything negative being said about all the massive powerleveling that went on in the AE and railing against it like someone insulted your mother.I did.
I found his backtracking unconvincing.
In any case, the original wording spells out the intent of the OP in neon letters- "MA babiez suk, lol I kno more than them vets r k00l ma babiez drool!"
I realize bashing MA newbies is a spectator sport among a certain class of player, but that doesn't justify the behavior.
Accomplishes about as much as well. -
Quote:Endurance light attacks would be nice, wouldn't they?
What better way to build and maintain fury than lots of quick recharging, endurance-light attacks leading up to bigger AOE attacks once you're furious?
Claws pairs well with any secondary. Focus and shockwave are good mitigation to help with squishier secondaries.
The only thing I ever consider these days is whether to go with shockwave or eviscerate if I don't think I can fit both on top of spin.
For secondaries that have auras that feed your mitigation (invul and wp) it's probably best to go with eviscerate.
For secondaries that don't need to worry about keeping enemies nearby, shockwave is a beautiful thing. -
Quote:Of course you'll continue starting new threads on topics with existing threads. It's what you do.I'll point out for Bill that the vast majority of threads that I get slagged in are not threads that I start.
I think there's been three threads that I started on Defender Balance (for example), and more than a dozen of other people's, yet I get twenty negative marks for every post I make (regardless of what I say in the posts), usually either the standard, unhelpful "Don't get it" or a variety of insults.
In any case, I, and others who have thoughts to express will continue to post threads on whatever topics we wish, no matter how insulting certain members of the community might get.
I refuse to be shouted down (though, I am not unreasonable), and as some will tell you, I can be remarkably stubborn.
If the rep system is going to be used as a means of anonymously insulting people, then I have to describe IT as the waste of space. If someone feels they have to attack me, they should do it publicly and prove just how childish they truly are.
I hope you noticed that I signed my neg rep hit for you. I don't want you thinking I'm just another anonymous meanie head.
As mentioned, the vast majority of those individuals that consistently get negative rep comments deserve them.
If you wish to stop getting them, stop deserving them.
I'm not shouting you down. I'm only attempting to explain why you see what you see.
Long live the rep system! -
I was totally in the wrong forum. But the answer kinda still works!
-
Easiest way to find out is to go into the character creator, use show info on the left side, highlight FE on the right and you should see all the buff notes back on the left.
I haven't seen FE on scrappers, so can't verify at this time for ya. -
Quote:Lrn 2 srch?
Not sure why you said this, as the original creation date was 8/30, quite some time ago.
Similar but not the same. What I see, which is what has created my overall impression of new rep system, is that many of the posters which I've always viewed in a negative light have low reps or have disabled it.Quote:You're either making bad assumptions, or painting with an overly broad brush - or both. The feature is similar to one that was removed on the *old* boards (for good reason - and was never *missed,* frankly) and IMHO should also be removed on *these* boards.
There are, of course, exceptions. Some posters who I've always felt added to the community have chosen to disable theirs for reasons I'm sure they feel are valid. Cool. They have the option and are choosing to use it.
Some posters have capped rep due to partaking in forum games involving padding their rep. While I don't approve of such things, it was inevitable.
For the rest, the rep meters appear to be working as intended.
With all generalizations and stereotypes, there contains some level of truth. Same holds true here. Red repped individuals are *generally* a waste of space. Good repped individuals are *generally* not.
That leaves you and I on different sides of the keep or toss rep argument. I hope it stays in place for as long as these boards are used. -
Did it ever cross your mind that you get negative messages daily because you annoy the hell out of your fellow gamers with useless threads and posts?
-
1: There's already been X# of threads on this topic. The forums would be vastly more improved if posters like yourself would quit wasting space by padding their thread count with redundant and superfluous garbage.
2: Rep appears to be working fine for those of us not involved with rep padding threads. Users that perpetually spew garbage on the forums are either red-dotted or have disabled it to hide their lack of posting worth.
3: I'm ambivalent towards thread tagging. -
I'll be using the passives as IO mules. Steadfast and PvP uniques together bump defense by 6%. Get some more HP/Regen from the right dam-res sets. Dampening Field can stack with tough for that extra bit of mitigation.
But, yea... they ain't SR's passives. -
Look to your primary. It offers tohit debuffs which stack on top of EA's defense. It offers a self-heal which, until recently, EA lacked. I deleted a dm/ea in the 40s back before the DM and EA buffs.
Much like SR, however, once IOed to the gills, EA becomes quite nice. Until that occurs, it's weak sauce.
Yes, I'm still having trouble with mine but much of it is based on irrational expectations. Running at +0/x6 without a self-heal is asking for pain. I'm forcing myself to 29. If I'm still feeling meh about it, I'll reroll as claws/wp. -
Bad luck streaks don't last all the way through beta and follow you to live.

Quote:My problem with this is twofold:Drop rates have NOT been adjusted. Synapse said so.
One of the more popular theories seems to be that the team size setting creates 'phantom' teammates and the recipes go into the void. Thus, the drops are generated (and logged for the devs datamining) but no one actually gets them.
1: It would imply that devs actually coded the spawn sizes to be based on team size, rather than basing spawns off of difficulty level. That would seem awfully bizarre. (However, two of the folks I've spoken to that feel like drops are better were either dual or triple boxing, so there may very well be something to that.)
2: It doesn't explain why I've seen ZERO uncommon or rare drops unless I'm just a truly unlucky *******. -
Did half a lap around the storm palace. I got 3 basic recipes for my "work."
I did 4 scanner missions at +2/x4 w/bosses and recieved 4 basic recipes.
I street swept in the RWZ for 28 minutes and got 3 common recipes.
Yesterday I did 4 scanner missions at +4/x8 w/bosses and received 7 basic IO recipes.
I have no idea how many foes I defeated during those runs. CoT at +4/x8 have 2 boss death mages in every spawn. I assume council also have 2 bosses per spawn at that level.
And yet I recieve ZERO uncommon or rare recipes in that entire time.
Drop rates are BROKEN. Unless, of course, they are now working as intended.
The only fact is that drop rates are drastically lower now than before I-16 hit. This was brought up repeatedly during beta and we were repeatedly told that no changes had been made to drop rates.
So what DID change that has AFFECTED drop rates? -
What Blue Raptor stated sounds like what I see at work. However, I changed over to IE8 and had no issues. I don't use plugins in firefox.
This leads me to believe that the forums just can't play nicely with firefox. -
If I remember correctly it should fire off that 10% every 10 seconds. So every 100 seconds on average you should get the tohit buff.
I don't know if that's worth it or not. -

I got one report last night stating drop rates had been returned to normal. I'll be testing tonight.
